All classes are awesome, atm imo ranger is a better than mage, mage can be hard if you dont get the hang of it, has a few hits( not prepared) can be deadly, and in terms of  dps a ranger well geared  reaches 1600 -1850 dps and a mage around 1500 -1700.

Both perform nicelly in pvp  but in terms of party runs rangers see more action then mages.

We have been requesting a buff in the mage class for a long time.

i have a ranger char( i have one of each except tank cause its an hassle to level up) as well and it seemed a rather easy and strait forward to raise.

As a fellow player said before its like pew pew pew kyte pew pew pew...

And if you go for ranger go for crossbows.

PS i have been out of the game  for 2 months unless something changed during my vacation dont take into notice what i wrote, but if i am wrong someone will correct me

I've tried both, ranger has better DPS and much better AOE than mage. So rangers are more useful in party dungeons.

If you plan to play solo and profit, then mage is a class for you. Especially hybrid one with 1h weapon and shield with sorcery and spell attack power stats.

good to know since I"m still noobie about mages but sticking with my idea for my lil lvl 15 (atm) alt as mage.  not sure how well I'll do with her but love my ranger ( partial to the archer types, loved my archers from another game and was a kiting machine, crossbows ftw).

Kind of mostly guessed at what to do with her.  I have all attributes in Range and all talents are from my ranger.   Just wanted pure ranger since I really not sure how to do hybrids or how I'd manage one using different weapons and talents.

I"m a pve player and mostly equip her with 1h, sheild and crossbow ( sooo hope I can get a nice 45 xbow for her at some point like that deadeye) but I have another 1h that sometimes I equip because I think that's for faster attack rate?   though someone thought I was pvp because I had them on.   guess if your a pvp ranger you equip 2 , 1h's for attack power?

so mage for profit, is that so because they are better at grinding mobs?   I"m a little awkard at using the skills still but she's only 15 and there aren't many skills on her yet.    still figuring out like what order to use them and stuff.  more I use her think more I'll find what works best for me.

My lvl 31 mage is super easy because I had equipment advantage over newbies. Looted lot of useful stuff with my main and other lvl 45 alt.

1h + shield isn't popular on rangers, because they don't really need extra defense, they can kait easily, longrange stun/snare too. Also they can grab bonuses on attack power from assassin tree for dual wielding (1h+ shield isn't dual wielding) and also +15% dodge chance. Another reason is late game knives gemmed with emeralds are much better than hybrid weapons.

Mages and prophets don't get any advantages from using staves, so it doesn't really matter what you use as your secondary weapon.

Mage is profit because you don't need to waste money on HP pots - you can self heal. And when you are low on mana, just use starlight which gives you lots of mana back.

ahh I see, I got different info from players with ranger so some told me equip a shield for extra def, use that buff for shield. I do see some equipped with them but guess I can always change that.   uhm ok so I may have to respec again, ugh kind of takes me time to add back all those points haha but then I will lose points I put in the range stuff so not sure what not to do if i add from sin tree.   what is the talent name on the sin that I would add?  Do I have to first put point in something to then get that since you have to use so many points at first to open up other stuff.

Uhm as to weapons and putting gems, guess if I get that kind of weapon at some point and those gems I can do that.

now this is what your suggesting for a Ranger right?   So basically we are better off just using 2, 1h knives?

and I didn't know that about mages.  Guess I'm used to mages in games having some kind of staff/rod to use and forget it's the Ess they use here and Healer's use staff.  I"ll have to see what I can do for my lil one when I work on her more.

So what weapons do mages uses have beside Ess, shield and 1h right?  what kind of stats should those have, assume both should have sorc on it or should one have range?

thanks for the tips.  :)   I'll figure all this out but still working on getting my ranger set done and all that hahaha :P

I'm not telling you to respec your ranger :) It depends what you prefer, shield for extra defense, or 2 knives for more damage. But later in game when you get fabled set, you might wanna respec it to ranger/sin to squeeze maximum from it.

My ranger is full ranger and using 1h+ shield as well. And he is doing pretty good.

Sin talent that rangers benefits from using dual wield is called "dual wield mastery"

I prefer weapons for mages with sorcery, spell attack power and focus ideally, as high rolls as possible ofc. But spell crit isn't bad roll either or energy for bigger plasma shield.

ohh I see, lol. well still learning and it's still a good reference to know about so thanks for info lucky :) .    Yah be a while before I complete it plus jewels but it'll happen.    maybe I can start looking into gathering the helm mats and get that done next.  I don't think I have all the rems yet but getting there.   I have gloves and pants so far.

and on mage good to know, I'm even more noobie with mages. I never really leveled up one before in other games much.

Mages will always be squishy.

but mages are so good at being in one place for a long time.

plus their situational magic spells are useful with any group.

Great utility.
