Well, first things first, here it is:

http://talenttheory....B1C1D1F2K1L2V1/

Accompanied by full ranged (6)

This is basically what I'm going for in my build, it's a little different from what I have currently and I'll need to respec, I was just wondering what everyone thought of it while I get those last few levels and before I respec.

I have a few questions about some of the talents, which I'll highlight in red through my thought process behind the build.

Ranger Talents:

Tier 1:

Dextrous 4/4

+12% Ranged Haste (I'll be wearing only medium armor)

Volley 3/3

+1.5% mana regen on hit

Marksman 3/3

+15% ranged attack power

I think these three are pretty straightforward, more haste, more mana for specials, and more power, all seem easy choices.

Tier 2:

Cruel Barbs 2/2

+20% Black Fang Crit Rate

The only talent on this tier, black fang is a big focus for me in this build, it's a cheap skill that gets buffed a lot in the ranger tree.

Tier 3:

Steady Aim 3/3

+15% Ranged Accuracy

Thrill of the Hunt 2/2

+6% Crit Rate

Stealth Shots 3/3

-15% Threat

Fleetfoot 1/1

+5% movement speed

No fleetfoot seems a bit like blasphemy, but I don't really see the benefit of +5% Movement when not focusing on pvp/kiting.

Steady aim, is +15% Accuracy at level 45 irrelevant once you factor in gear?

Seems accuracy is unimportant at 45, so I have 3 free points now.

Swapped Steady aim points for Stealth Shots, as not having the boss run off the tank is a good thing.

Re-added Fleetfoot instead of wild instincts

Tier 4:

Predatory 2/2

+2 seconds on Envenom, +4% Damage

This makes Envenom another go-to skill, with 5s of 84% dps while still firing other skills.

Tier 5:

Quick Draw 3/3

-1.5s Black Fang Cooldown

Eagle Eye 3/3

-15% enemy armor

Again with black fang emphasis, this allowing it to be fired every 3rd shot with a crossbow (2 normal pew pews between each BF).

I don't currently have Eagle Eye, is it worth getting? 15% armor reduction seems like a good amount especially when added to Haemorhage bonus.

Tier 6:

Blood Link 3/3

6% Life Steal for 5s after Blood Fang

Blood Fang 1/1

200% Ranged DPS Shot

Blood Trail 1/1

Blood Fang Cooldown reduced 2s

Creeping Vines 1/1

AoE thing.

Further emphasis on single target skills, Blood Fang being an upgraded Black Fang with vampiric qualities. Good for self-heal and for overall dps increase.

Adding Creeping vines instead of a wild instincts point.

Tier 7:

Barbed Tip 2/2

Increase Haemorrhage duration by 8s

Haemorrhage is excellent for bosses, this is nice as it makes so you need fewer casts of Haemorrhage as it's a somewhat costly manawise skill.

Tier 8:

Monsoon 1/1

AoE Stun/150% DPS skill

Blot Out the Sun 2/2

Increase Storm Damage by 30%

Wild Instincts

+6 Ranged attack power per focus

Monsoon is one of the few AoE skills I picked for this build, I have it now, and it's pretty good even though I don't have many other AoEs to back it up with.

I'm unsure of what Storm does, is it a bit like Monsoon, without the stun, but 'rains' for 10s instead of 1 volley? Is the 30% damage increase worth it (30% is a lot, which is why I planned to take this as Storm is bought with coins, not talent points)?

Tier 9:

Spectral Barrage 1/1

95% DPS arrows fired every 0.5s for 10s

I look at this skill as basically making my DPS 190% for 10s, what's not to like?

Assassin Talents:

Tier 1:

Dual Wield Mastery 3/3

Increase range/melee attack power by 9% (requires dual wield)

Not sure exactly how this skill works, but it would increase my ranged attack power if I held 2 melee weapons (no shield, no 2h weapon) correct?

Normal (non-boss/dungeon) game play is mostly centered around 4 to 5 skills:

Haemorrhage to start things off.

Black Fang for increased DPS and excellent crit chance, and after Blood Fang to heal more.

Blood Fang for more DPS and when injured to self heal.

Envenom when available for a quick kill.

Monsoon for additional time when multiple enemies attack.

For boss killing, with or without a party, the same skills (without monsoon) are utilized, in addition to:

Spectral Barrage, as I said before it's basically 190% DPS for 10s, what's not to like?

Tornado (?) I don't have the skill yet, but it seems very good, I anticipate using it a lot..

Dungeon running without a party so far has been pretty simple when in story mode, as I leveled I was able to complete basically every dungeon in story as soon as I had access to it (with the exception of Garai's stupid scorpion).

Dungeon running with a group in dungeon mode this build shines more on the boss killing than minion killing, though if it's not an AoE fest on minions it does quite well.

Overall, whats everyone think? Feel free to provide feedback on any aspect of the build, but I definitely want some feedback on the questions in red.

Thanks for reading,

Best of luck

o/

Accuracy is irrelevant at 45, so Steady Aim is pretty useless.

Dont know what Monsoon or Storm does so Im leaving someone else to answer that.

Dual Wield Mastery means that you need to have 2, 1h weapons equiped (shield is not a weapon). There are 1h weapons with Ranged stats on them.

That build should work pretty well. It's more based on 1v1 fight and not on AOE. There are few things I would change though, you can save 1 point in volley, I have only 2 points in there and never run out of mana.

Another thing is Wild instincts is totally useless, unless you are planning on going full focus build, but even in that case it sux.

Remember that wild instincts gives you only bonus for base focus points, so focus from equipment doesn't count towards it.

Another thing to consider is whether to use 2x 1h weapons or 1h + shield. If you find good shield, you can forget about putting points to assassin tree, I would rather trade that 9% bonus attack power for +12% to all defenses and 18% block chance that shield provides :)

When you get yourself fabled set, you can always respec back to dual wield build.

Also it's not the best idea to ignore "stealth shots" talent, put at least 2 points in it. Threat can be tricky in lvl 45 dungeons, if you don't have it reduced, you easily take all agro from tank = insta-suicide

Here is my build I'm using as a ranger, it's decent in PvE and dungeons (not saying it's the best, there are few things that can be changed ofc):

http://talenttheory....C1D1F2H1K1L2V1/

I'm not a fan of black fang, so I've sacrificed points for the detonate, which deals tons of AOE damage and you can spam it every 6 seconds (4.5-5seconds with my haste). So I fully upgraded it and with 50% chance to stun for 3 seconds its awsome.

Creeping Vines is too good to not to take. 6 seconds snare is pretty OP for AOE spam build.

You can ignore Fleetfoot, but I took it because I like extra 5% speed when kaiting or when doing totem runs in RG.

Ofc if I ever get Fabled set for my ranged, I'll totally respec it, but as of now It works good with 1h+shield.

P.S.: Storm is the best AOE skill that ranger has, it deals insane damage and it has pretty short cooldown. Definitely worth buying and spending few points into it.

glad for this post, I sort of guessed at some of mine, idk I'd have to be in game or take SS of mine and then compare.  never been pro at figuring out builds with skills and all that so it was confusing for me in this game and probably one reason I just stuck to focusing on pure ranger with ranger talents.

one thing I didn't see in the post is about the 1k 45  ranger skill.   sooo just in case,  don't bother to buy that one, I was told by others not worth the 1k, not a good one to have as most of the other 1k ones aren't either minus the prophet 45 skill.

Slow but steady wins the race or something like that.

I'm just taking it slow, not sure about the steady.

Thanks for the infos, Unlucker, good insights there.

I don't currently have wild instincts, but as it's base only, I'll probably put my points elsewhere, stealth shots was the one skill I wanted to take but didn't seem to have points for, which I suppose isn't a problem now (respec will get rid of steady aim too).  I picked Black Fang instead of detonate. I see the appeal of AoE spamming, but... I dunno, maybe just not for me.

Bliss, I haven't heard anything really about the level 45 skills... I don't chat with many people, and the few that I do end up ignoring me because I get mad that they come and steal my kill or harvest locations *shrug*. I'll probably buy it eventually, but I'm not putting any points in the talent with tornado modifier, so it's not really high on my priority list.

For now at least I've made a few changes:

http://talenttheory....B1C1D1F2K1L2V1/

In short:

Swap 3/3 Steady Aim for 3/3 Stealth Shots

Swap 1/2 Wild Instinct for Creeping Vines

Swap 1/2 Wild Instinct for Fleetfoot

Gives me another AoE for better party capabilites, run run run, and not stealing aggro on bosses. Seems like some good changes.

Anyone have anything else?
