I just hit lv 32 farming and I started farming cotten and I dont know this just dosnt seem right, Is this avg farming for cotten?

My steps where

rake

compost

scarecrow

seed

water

I had to rewater the plants half way through because they wouldnt fully grow from 1 time watering, and this is what I got.

But common this Is insane the amount of time It takes to get that far In exp, getting all the mats for planting and then crafting them Into Linen,  and sitting there and watching It, and even doing 3-4 plots at 1 time, Id end up with 30%+ disease loss farming 3 plots end up with 40%+ if I farm 4 plots end up getting like 5 cotten like why have the option to farm 4 plots when Its bearly worth It to farm 3? If I got unlucky that yields around 9 or below plot of cotten... I didnt mind farming Linen cloth and coarse, but this..Its not even about the farming lvl, this yield Is just.... wow.

Atleast give us some better crop dust or better scarecrows or some high lvl materials to make up for this, or make a tool to help prune faster so the yield dosnt end up like a waste of time, even tho farming Is just this huge time dump.

Farming Is already tedious and way more work then any other, maybe besides cooking but I don't do cooking, but this Is dpressing getting this far and was looking forward to getting higher lvl farmin to sell and craft stuff.

The amount you can get while farming is related to your farming level minus the level of the seed you're farming.  If your farming is equal to the seed level you can get between 10 and 20. While if you're 5 levels or above you'll always get 20.

Jute was so much easier to farm because how much you could get maxed out quickly so you spent a great deal of time at the maximum.  As your farming improves you should see more consistent numbers.

Cotton is 32, so you should be getting max every time at farming level 37. I hope that helps

BTW   I'm totally for crop dust getting a buff.

While farming flax, I found out that using compost and scarecrows was a waste of time. The time needed to plant both of those on 2 plots at a time was horrible with the diseases caused on the other one with 2x watering. I instead then decided to just seed and water and prune. This method works for me. I'm not entirely sure which is the best method though. Someone would have to test these things.

I have tried the compost and without the compost and I have found that 2 waters result in better harvest, rake, seed, water, when the bar is halfway water again and prune sometimes and that is it. usually I get between 18-20

Seek and ye shall find.

Ahh ok so i just need to farm more so I can get a steady 20+ thanks.

But yeah I'm totally up for them giving us better farming material.

And farming with no compost.. that must be super slow, I just like to use the scarecrow and compost too speed up time and to get better yield % over time with scarecrow. those 24 crop pulls adds up alot over time.

With the 10 second cooldown on disease (at least) crop dust is pretty terrible.  Compost works great. The scarecrow on the otherhand is debateable, time wise I get better results without the scarecrow.  The extra time putting in the scarecrow is time not spent actually growing.

Farming could use some improvement, but this game is supposed to be a grind, i don't expect them to make it easy.

doesn't crop dust just improve the ethereal yield?

Crop dust also decreases the chance your crops will catch disease.

But with the cooldown it's almost better to catch the bugs quickly and have a time of immunity for a short period.
