At the moment, we have the following scenario :-

A new LE has the bejabers farmed out of it and an almost instantaneous market place crash unless the drop rate is exceedingly low

How about making new ones something like titans. What I mean by this is that they spawn on a random map (not a fixed choice, like titans) and, after "X" kills (say 500 or so - with low drop rate) on that map, they despawn and appear on another random map (not another square on that map)

Of course, these LE's would have to spawn within their "level limits" ...

This has, as far as I see it, 2 obvious benefits (and there's probably more)

1. Because they are not "predictable" where they spawn and only have limited kills available on that spawn, folk won't share the locations on the forum and thus players will have to "work" for these items (or,of course, buy them in the AH)

2. It gives players another activity - when a spawn is announced, players can spend time looking for them on the maps. If, for instance, a new Level 1000 LE is created, it could spawn on ANY map between Level 1 and Level 1000.

This will give these new LE items a longer term sustainable value and reward those who hunt / find them ?

Thoughts ?

By spawning on any map from lvl 1 - 1000 there would be many who would not be able to kill the LE and would just sell the map area. However, this might work if the map difference was reduced to say 25 or maybe 50 levels of the LE. In your example that would be any map between say lvl 950 and lvl 1050 (at most) which would still result in a pretty good hunting field.

That's something I want fixed. I always found it fun to watch the Community pull together and post on the forums where they found a brand new beast.

If it's a random map, then yes, the creature would be listed, but ALL the available maps it could spawn on would be listed - so, in the example I gave above, it would be any 1 of 1000 maps - (and it would be only temporarily there) - you'd still have to go and LOOK for it ...

Yes, that is a potential obstacle - maybe narrowing the spawn options down a bit - say +/- 100 levels and then reducing the kill count / spawn to, say, 200 to keep the exclusivity.

Of course, this idea would also need another titan style facet implementing - that of a spawn notice (without, obviously, the realm) and, most importantly, a DESPAWN notice once a pre-determined number of kills had been made (or a predetermined number of drops) - actually, I think I prefer the predetermined number of drops better.

This is a work in progresss, thoughts are welcome :)

No thoughts on the idea itself ??

What about a time limit instead of kills or drops? The LE comes out say for two or three days no matter the kills or drops? When the time is up it goes Poof! This would only require a notice of the spawn which could include the time (which could vary from spawn to spawn... even on the same LE...  to make it more interesting)

Just a thought!

Not quite sure exactly what you mean here ?

Time on a specific (albeit random) map ? - because then it just becomes exactly like existing LE hunting once someone tells everyone where it is ?

Specific time allocations on random MAP "1" before despawning and respawning on random MAP "2" could work tho

When you say it will spawn on random maps for let's say 500 kills and then moves on.. will it be moving around with a big icon like a Titan or will it stay in a fixed position of that map for its 500 kills and then move on to the next random map?

Yeah, sorry I wasn't clear there. Set a time limit on the over all appearance of the LE and a kill per map so that it would respawn in different maps during it's time in game. So, for example: three days in game with say 200 kills per map during it's spawn. Then Poof, it's gone after three days. Hope that helps!  :)

Neither - there'd be multiple instances of it on the chosen random map (as per existing LE's in that respect) and then, once the criteria was met (be that time, kills or drops), it would despawn all instances and respawn on the next random map.

This just occurred to me - it would be REALLY frustrating / annoying if you found one of these new LE's, geared / buffed up and it despawned.

To counter this ...

The map the LE spawned on would also need one of the following (depending on which criteria was determined for the move)

1. Kill Count / Kills Remaining Counter

or

2. Drop Count / Drops Remaining Counter

or

3. Time on Map / Time Remaining Counter

Yeah, it would be a little more than annoying to me to get buffed (especially if using some bigger pots, like LF for example) just to get to the map, kill an LE once and have it disappear.

personally something does need doing because as soon as a new guy appears with in a hour the drops are worthless but this idea wouldnt be fair to most of the game if it was only 500 kills per map within minutes that number would be reached and you would have to go search somewhere else now this might be ok for ppl with big stam banks and decent speeds but wouldnt be for the average guy... its that reason i dont titan hunt i could never keep up with the guys on better connections

Or, conversely to your viewpoint above - it's a source of income for lower level players who may find these LE's on maps and can sell the realm ?

It's a work in progress ;) - let's see if it can be fleshed out to be a viable idea ?

so the fastests and the big stamina banks will be in advantage..
not to mention possible scripting..

doesnt sound like a good idea...

How will the fastest be any advantage if they don't know where the LE is ? (which map, that is)

How will big stamina banks be an advantage, other than giving the OPTION for players to use stamina to sweep numerous maps ?

Scripting ? - let's not go there eh ? - it's all over the game  as it is ... using that as an "excuse / reason" to not add something new and potentially exciting is kinda self-defeating ..

the fastests will be able to swip the maps faster, and thus find this special LE faster..

the high stamina banks will be in advantage cause they can swip more maps easily.

it's like a mini titan as i see it...
only diff is that it spawns on different maps,
and it's not visionable on the map, so u have to swip the whole map.

anyway,   anything new, even this,  is good for the game :)
