I know I made this suggestion in the past but it's buried somewhere deep within the vastness of the forums and I felt it was time to bring it back up...

My idea is to have a Global event where the prize chests give you potions but the creatures you kill give you Common Frag Stashes.

This is kind of a "Best of Both Worlds" compromise as most who are heavy in to Composing mostly need the Common Fragments which they can get in creature drops but players not interested in composing can just use a high-powered Global Booster and not worry about fragments while they work to earn the potions.

Would the stashes be bound? I wouldn't mind nabbing a few while working towards the global rewards of chests if I could sell the stashes as I don't compose.

During normal Globals which currently give Fragment Stashes, those stashes are all bound so I doubt HCS would want to change that.

You could just combine fragment and normal global events together. Have the critters drop fragment mini containers whilst the rewards remain as the epic chests currently received in normal global events. Increase the variety of the critters needed to be killed so there are ones ranging from "common" critters to "super elite" critters, rarity also being considered possibly with a reveal potions like the Halloween global event? :)

Critters giving drops, Epic Pots as rewards...+1 for that.

For me all the critters could be Common (normal) and Rare (Reveal only), that will save a lot of time for everybody.

Exactly what I meant but I like your addition of having different creatures giving different drops.  However, I doubt they want to have creatures drop Legendary or SE Stashes like the Common ones unless there is a low spawn rate and horrible drop % for them.  Most players I have talked to who compose are primarily interested in Common fragments while there are some really after the Rare.  If it is limited to Common & Rare (perhaps Unique as well) then it might work out well for everyone.

I also like the idea of the special potions to see certain Global creatures.  I always enjoyed the Halloween ones...

Maybe there can be a special Helmet (visor) that lets you see certain creatures like how the Pinata Bat lets you hit the Pinata Global...

I like this idea. Not only does this eliminate the need of a frag GE every other event, but it also encourages more players to participate, alleviating the burden on the top 250 contributors. Also, it might help increase the value of SE items, something that I've heard much fuss about in the forums.

need to think through the numbers more carefully. I got about 6000 common fragments from the last event (where we didn't make ruby). Current creature have 7.5% chance to drop an average of 3 common frags. To get 6000 fragments would take 28000 separate kills (i.e., using GB200, that would be 140,000 kills for the event; to be equivalent to ruby stash reward, it would be more like 47000 separate kills irrespective of the GB used).

You'd have to massively increase to creature drops if this idea were to have much impact on replacing the current need/desire for fragment globals.

Don't use GB. It hurts your fingers but you get a whole boatload more frags.

Might look at that, yeah. Quite like the idea. We'll see after the next GE.

Whatever you do to epic pot GE (aka adding frag drop to event creature), just don't remove existing normal frag GE. We like to get ruby/crystal/whatever frag chest reward too from a original frag GE. Actually this kind of chest reward helps us get more frags than drops versus stam/time spent. I am just trying to state that the frag chest reward is invaluable to composers.

Hi there.

Yeah, I'd want to keep both versions. But I see no particular reason not to add minor Frag chest drops to the Global beasties for the existing events.

I like the idea of having a little of both style Globals "All in one"  :)   involves entire community then!

Or every global you can pick a potion or frag reward...Just if its specifically a POTION global and the community achieves ruby they have an option to pick a Frag crystal chest instead?

This is a good idea to involve both groups.

Currently when you compose you have the option to have it bound to you or your guild. Would it be possible to have this option with the frag chest drops in an event like this? I would love to give my guild mates who do compose the drops as I would have little use for them.

Yes, it was never my intent to get rid of the Frag Globals - I love those and feel they are important to the game. Glad to see BigGrim is on the same page as me there. :)

Also, as rowbeth pointed out, this type of global would not give Composers near as many fragments.  However, as yotwehc pointed out, if you are after fragments, Global Booster is your enemy.  Plus, if you drink a "Potion of Supreme Luck" (FI 1000) you can double that drop rate to 15% which can get you your 6k fragments in about 14,000 kills (using rowbeth's math - my math gives me 13,333 but lets not split hairs).  Personally, I would love to see an increased drop rate on these as it would greatly benefit me (and many others) but even with the current drop rate, this option would be far better than Globals who's creatures give you no drops at all...

I would love this as it would greatly benefit me as a Composer but I seem to remember this idea has already been shot down by HCS.  I can also see where this would greatly favor players in large guilds over the smaller ones and give some room for abuse so I would have to side with HCS on this.

I'm afraid we're not looking at that, no. Far too easy to abuse.

Ok, then instead of the creatures dropping frag stashes have them just drop common items we can give away to whom ever we please. Much simplier.
