Although I've already created a ticket on this issue, I'm posting this here to know if other people are experiencing the same problem:

Hello Hoof,

I'm experiencing 1-second-pauses when walking on the new world map. Prior to the server upgrades you made last December, movement was fluid at 2 to 3 squares per second. Yesterday's server upgrade didn't fix this. Right now, after I move my character 1 square, it pauses for approximately 1 second then moves on to the next square. The results are the same for auto-walk. This effectively kills normal hunting and titan hunting for me.

I'm connecting to Fallensword through Cloudflare's Hong Kong server (which in turn also connects to their San Francisco server).

I hope you can shed light on this problem and make map movement fluid again.

Best Regards,

Majere

And I thought I was crazy. I experienced the same thing today, thought it was a virus. I decided to hunt Gorgeanaka today, when I noticed the 1 sec. pause between steps. I also hope that this issue will be resolved soon.

Movement for me is roughly the same as above - It's never been "fluid" for me, but this is a definate regular movement now.

Is this another anti-cheat initiative snuck in, to make everyone move at the same speed ? - if so, I'm happy with it.

If not ... can it be addressed please ?

Homer : Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals .. except the weasel.

Eddie Izzard : The National Rifle Association say that guns don't kill people, people do. But I think the gun helps, you know ? I think it helps. I think just standing there going "BANG" - that's not going to kill too many people, is it ?

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but it seems that everything I eat lately turns to poo ...

LOL! yea okay there's already a speed limit. We don't need intentional lag we have enough legitimate lag as it is

To secure an Epidemicus today that cost me 4 hours, 2 browsers changes (with and without FSH), 2 restarts on the notebook, 3 changes between wireless and cable and countless Ctrl+F5.

It's REALLY annoying, please fiz this as soon as possible.

I brought this up with Hoof earlier - and his reply was "scheduled maintenance, no reserve stamina".

To this, I told him to look at the homepage announcement ...

He said he'd allocate some, probably this weekend ...

Thanks for the reply! I read the announcement and was wondering if the server work was actually attempted yet ( after reading this thread)  !  I received a PM from  yghorbb in game as well who said NO reserve stam  had been allocated yet. I guess thanks in advance HCS for the reserve stam , I think lol   ... Things that make you go Hmmmm O_o

2-3 squares per second is around 500 ms to 333 ms latency. This was what I was getting before the server upgrade and I was content with it and consider it fluid. It's not that fast but it's enough to compete with other titan hunters. With the current movement speed, it's no longer worth my time and effort to do titan hunting.

What's annoying is the wait in-between movements. You see your player icon move one square, pause for one second, then it moves to the next square, pause one second, etc.

I doubt this has something to do with any anti-cheat initiative, but if they're going to include one, they should've made an official announcement. But the last time I did a seasonal titan, other people were moving faster than me while I moved at a snail's pace at 1 square per second. So if it's indeed some sort of anti-cheat, then it wasn't applied to everyone. Movement this slow will also have an adverse effect on regular hunting for people with huge stam banks + using high level conserve.

omg this

This might deserve its own thread. What is there to be gained by loading every square along the path you take? It only increases the load on the servers. I would like to see this as a preference; you could leave "load each square along path" on if you want to check for SEs or chests.

It also levels the playing field because those with high pings would be sending and receiving less data, allowing for faster movement up to the cap imposed.

I have seen some weirdness here and there since the server changes, but lag isn't part of it.  Sure, we get the normal stuff at ladder reset,  the daily database update, and when new titans spawn, but that is only momentary and we should all know it's coming by now.  I haven't hunted my share of Zombies yet, but I did go on a short SE expedition this morning... I encountered no lag on FS.... Maybe it's a "Cloud" issue, and not FS per se at all?

it took me 2 hours 50 minutes (I hunted 2 times): Your Contribution: 5038 kills and I using global booster 500

all other global event I only need maximum 15 minutes for getting 5000 kills with global booster 200

I had little lag during titan event but after last game update I moving 1 square then loading 5 seconds before next step, creatures need 10 seconds to die and then load again, this was terrible and long hunt :(

It could be a cloud issue, hence the reason why I also mentioned CloudFlare's Hong Kong and San Franciso servers on my ticket. It couldn't be on my end because my average ping to www.fallensword.com is a stable 37 ms.

Only a single reply from Grim on my ticket saying they have made "a few more tweaks" and that "the issue has been resolved". After doing another test on Mountain Path, the problem still exists.
