Cyber bullying is wrong.  Now before I get into depth with this topic, I’d like to let you know that I’m not perfect either.  I admit that I’ve done some things that made people feel uncomfortable, like talking about bipolar disorder and other problems on world chat and scolding people for killing me in a pvp zone too much.  But when people asked me to stop and open a chat specifically for my problems, I did.  If it makes people uncomfortable, I don’t go out of my way to make people feel that way.  I’m still working on the part in the pvp zone in Trapper’s Atoll.  I’m not sure that it’s common courtesy to not kill people who are in peaceful mode there, but I like to think so (especially if the higher levels keep targeting lower level players).
Now back to my original comment (listed in the first sentence of the first paragraph)…  I’ve been bullied, and I know that there’s others of you out there who have been too.  If you’ve been bullied, don’t stay quiet about it and let people get away with it.  But also be wise and don’t start a fight.  It’s best to let someone in charge what’s going on and to avoid the bully.  Hang out with better friends.  Make sure you’re not alone.  Have a way to provide both proof and a way of defense if you need to.
Remember this:
1. Avoid bullies and bullying (avoiding them sometimes gets them off your back)
2. Don’t bully others (it will make the matter worse)
3. Report bullies (if you report to the right people, I’m sure something will be done)
4. Don’t give up (persevere in what you do, even if nothing’s done by the authorities, you can still live your life)
You can do something against cyber bullying: spread the word.  I for one don’t believe in the oppression of others online!
Cyber bullying is a serious offense in my book, and I hope it is in yours, too.  If you’d like some examples, please look below this sentence to two tickets that give some input of some cyber bullying that occurred on Febuary 5, 2015:
impersonation crisis EL-019459
1. My character name is knight_medek (on Eldevin), and I found someone who was impersonating me today. The person ceased to be insulting about my person on World Chat on Eldevin and may still be out there impersonating me. Please help...

inappropriate content EL-019457
2. These players have talked about hentai explicitly and refused to stop when asked to. They also used offensive language against other players and were being exclusive in world chat with other players. They also kept making sexual jokes that were quite offensive to me and others like me, and which were quite offensive (also considering I'm a girl, and most of them claimed to be male). They also refused to have their little "Hentai" chat elsewhere, as it was making others uncomfortable with their sexual comments and offensive language. I even noticed that they reprimanded someone quite thoroughly because he wanted them to "tone down" their language and change the topic from Hentai to something less offensive (especially since he was a father with children nearby)...

The global chat should come with a TzzXLaA.jpgbadge most the time.

HCS have been muting people alot lately though.

The best thing I can advise is add people to your ignore, report anything you feel needs to be reported to HCS via a support ticket and take it from there. Print screens are recommended.

This thread might not draw the attention which you initially intended and might make matters worse for you possibly.

I would also suggest skilling outside of TA as dieing in TA is sometimes inevitable.

You also can't name and shame on forums.

@ Bullying

More or less what Ant said.

If someone does something that you think is bullying, report it via a ticket. Use your ignore list to deter bullies. I like to think that when I ignore someone they no longer exist.

You're right, it is serious, but the interwebz is a fickle place, and posts like these often have the opposite effect in a place such as this. If you really want to discuss cyber-bullying on an online forum, perhaps find a parenting or local community forum to plea your case.

@ PvP on TA.

Trapper's Atoll is a PvP area. If someone is capable of killing you, and wants to, they will. There is nothing immoral about singling out a person on TA while letting others live, it's an open world free for all style PvP area. There are NO 'peace' rules (wait till you group with someone for a bit there then they leave and kill you after you acquire a fair amount of tokens), or any other sort of rules. You'll get very little sympathy from anyone about dieing on TA. If you don't want to die, don't go there. Every item is also available in a non-PvP setting.

Chat profanity rules state "the game and forums being rated 13+".  If I remember correctly (too lazy to look) bullying and name 'n shame are also out per the TOS.  Although I haven't seen anything specific, I would guess impersonations are also out, and certainly if it's used to hurt another player.

If you see someone violating these rules you can take a screen shot and put in a ticket.  Or just put on ignore.

With the exception of knlght (protecting your integrity), I suggest taking the names out of your post.  As mentioned above, name 'n shame is also against the TOS.  If you wish to follow this up, send the names to HCS in a ticket.

BTW, I agree with your general comments about bullying.

I agree. Cyber-bullying, and any other form of bullying, is wrong.

However, your original post, as well as the examples you gave, has lead me to believe that you might just be really oversensitive and easily offended. I suggest using the ignore feature for those who you find offensive.

Remember, it's a game. Everyone is here to have fun. Lighten up a little.

Like rest said, only can report them and ignore them. Reporting is best as there is a thread saying what is allowed and what isn't.

https://forums.hunte...e-on-profanity/

I don't like certain convos either so I just ignore world chat or ignore the person. If they do say stuff that is sexual or racist, then do report.

Edit: Actually you're supposed to tell the people carrying adult conversations to a chat-room which is F6 my bad. And you're only supposed to report when they don't listen and continue the conversation in public/world chat.

"(also considering I'm a girl, and most of them claimed to be male)" ...

YAY we want equality! .. wait but women should get special privileges too!

I think you are too easily offended, so what if people talked about hentai? Get off the channel and wait for them to get muted/banned if it's a bannable offence. I think you did not experience actual bullying in real life if someone impersonating you or talking about X topic can hurt you that badly.

Sometimes you can't run away from bullies in real life, they go to the same school or even class as you, they get to abuse you as much as they want and you have to fight them off but.. on the internet you have an option to ignore them, and most they can do is hurt your feelings. So yeah, be lucky it's that and not your bones...

Aye, but internet bullies are those that are bullied in RL and have so little self respect that they have to bully from the safety of  the internet rather than grow up, remember, some people are more sensitive that others and that's what makes us who we are, but there is no excuse for bullying in RL or cyber, the bully is either bullied in life, or is that insecure that it's the only way he/she thinks they can get respect, they are the kind of people that are the biggest cowards on the face of this planet, even more cowards than bullies in the real world.

was going to whine over the first two lines as not all women think and want equality or everything every other woman wants but the last two paragraphs are quite wise and mature, RL u have to put up with crap, here u have the option to ignore ....

.......

OP i would submit tickets if someone is impersonating with intent to cause your name harm and like others said remove the names, one of them i know enough to know he can be snippy but mostly is a good guy that most likely youve taken the wrong way for whatever circumstance has twisted fate this way :)

despite not juimping on your bandwagon as such i am VERY against cyber bullying or bullying in the realiverse :-)

btw the golden rule in eldevin is when u are upset over anything dont put the letters T and A together in your post :P

Sorry for violating the rules.  That was not my intention when I was making this post.  And thanks so much guys for reading this and sharing your views on this (whether they were for or against what I wrote).  And yes, I have been bullied before in real life.  It was not pretty.

In my first elementary school, many students would pick on me and blame me for stuff I didn't do.  Teachers and yard duties didn't believe me.  It got so bad that I had to move to another school.

In my first community college, I was sexually harrassed by another student.  I had to report it to the campus police in tears.

Thankfully, I realize that I have a loving family and friends.  And I know that God has been through this with me the whole time.  If haters hate, it's not something I can stop.  Everyone is allowed to their own opinion.  I was simply stating mine in a way I thought was okay.

If I ever do something wrong without realizing it, please let me know if you meet me in game or on the forum.  I will do my best to be a better person.  It's one of my goals in life to be the best person I can.

But if this is just another form of bullying, then I will not give in.  I am not one to give in to peer pressure.  I'm just a human that makes mistakes.

I for one agree totally. Bullying of any kind is bull.

I honestly have no sympathy for anybody who bullies. There is no reason for it.

@ medek I understand how you feel about the matter but many of the times these people are trolling, they want you to make a big fuss.

Now my advice on this matter is add the bully to your blocked users list and ignore them. They will get board and stop.

As for atoll, yes it is a PvP area, however, often times there is less traffic there if you change servers. It doesn't totally eliminate PKs but it does reduce them. Try Terra or Oceanic.

May the odds be ever in your favor

Greetings!!!

I completely agree that cyber bullying is wrong. I've had my share of experiences with such people, though I never really let them affect me. Through years of gaming I've learned that avoiding them and not getting into chat confrontations with such people is the best way to go about it, I just ignore em. I never let em take the fun away from my gaming experience. It has been a long time since I last played Eldevin and I only got back a few days ago so I only have an idea of how the playerbase was back last year. Players are generally nice and helpful back then, and I sure hope they haven't changed now.  :D

Sadly, it's the internet and people do whatever they wanna do and say whatever they wanna say without fearing for the consequences of their actions. It falls on every individual to draw the lines and set the rules for themselves, however not everyone has that much control over themselves. I think it's something that we just can't eliminate 100%. Only thing we can do is ignore and report. I'm already at peace with that fact lol.

Just avoid em' as much as possible, and of course don't be a bully yourself. Never give em' the privilege of taking away the fun from a game that you like... Not even for a single sec!  :D

More power to Hunted Cow/Eldevin!!!

Bullying of any form is clearly wrong; equally it is clear that the anonymity of cyberspace makes aspects of dealing with it both easier and harder.

While the consistent advice in this thread to ignore/avoid bullies is something one has some control over, it also means we are diminishing our gaming experience --- and it is giving up aspects of the game (TA, world chat...) to those bullies, which may just encourage them further in their behaviour. Not all cyber-bullies are simply after notoriety.

The additional response that needs to be added is that of the community. There is a need for all of us to be expressing disapproval of inappropriate conversations and aggressive responses. There is also a need for all of us to be expressing support for those on the receiving end of bullying, belittling or intimidating behaviour.

The only advice we've been given is on this thread https://forums.hunte...e-on-profanity/ which only states report and ignore.

None of us are condoning bulling or harassment of any kind. The only people who can sort these matters out is HCS.

We can say all we want about it until we're blue in the face but if HCS don't punish them will they really stop if we say so? So all we can do is offer advice on how to deal with it and hope action gets taken against them.

Sounds like you want a nanny state set up opening poster, where everything is tailored how you feel at every moment and time.  Also it sounds like you want payback on someone if anything or to get some people in trouble. Also 100% a hot topic go to word now for everything....... bullying. Used very broadly now and used too much. It is the media who has blown this up so much. Now people have picked up on it also on the internet and spam lets end bullying etc

Also the opening post has so much crap in it, one minute you talk about death in trappers atoll, that is a game mechanic which is a terrible idea to mix gathering and attacking. But is not bullying. Also you are talking about convos you did not like in the chat, that is not bullying, that is just you not liking a certain topic.

I would go so far as to say you labelled your topic in capital letters CYBER BULLYING IS WRONG to gain sympathy for yourself and people to read topic and ignore comman sense and agree with you.
