Slow but steady wins the race or something like that.
I'm just taking it slow, not sure about the steady.

If i've said this once, i've said it a hundred times TA WAS IMPLEMENTED FOR PvPers, NOT FOR GATHERERS.
TA is not for PvPers, it's for griefers. TA's incentives bait non PvPers, especially lower level ones, to get killed by those that get off of annonying other people and that actively avoid fighting eachother or anyone that can put up a fight. You can count on the fingers of one hand the PKers that go there for actual PvP, the huge majority just do it for the schadenfreude.
For me personally TA isn't a problem at all, if I die it's no big deal but I don't even remember the last time I did. However, as far as the game is concerned TA's design is a big problem. Most new players quit at mid-levels (20 to 30-something) because there's not much they can do in the game, it's extremely difficult to find parties for mid-level dungeons and TA baits them with the best jewelery in the game pre-lvl 45, the best spot for crafting mats and one of the best spots for acquiring gold for low levels. And now they see that higher levels not only ignored them whenever they asked for help with a dungeon, but even derive pleasure form annoying them. Of course there are some other factors involved, but it's no suprise that Eldevin's population is critically low when griefing is encouraged by game design. If they could find groups for dungeons and the rest of the mid-game was actually fun, they wouldn't have any reason to mind TA, but sadly that's not the case.
And if these guys love PvP so much how come the Battlegrounds are only active for a very short while in prime-time and even then we have to ask world chat for half an hour until there are 8 players to start the 1st one? I don't have any issue with PvP in general, I enjoy it and do it whenever I get the chance, it's just poorly implemented in TA.
As for those that make fun of gatherers like OP that complain about TA's design, please, I've seen few gatherers rage as hard as PKers when they die. Even just escaping them before I was at end-game I've been called every name imaginable, the kinds of insults you'd only expect from a child playing CoD.

i agree with you meru, as i said in this post, i'm not a Pvper, but the devs did implement TA to satisfy pvpers, there's a thread here which explains it, that said, Pkers that constantly pick on low levels are just bully's and such cowards that the only satisfaction they can achieve is bullying behind a keyboard and monitor, i still say remove gathering nodes from TA and let the Pvpers have the island to themselves, i'm pretty sure that even low level PvPers would not whinge about getting killed there, after all that's what TA is all about, they can then try to improve their Pvp skills from learning by mistakes.

The fulcrum of the argument that one should not go to a PK zone based on the assumption that PvP is balanced in this game. That is far from the truth. Also, there are some gathering materials that cannot be obtained effectively outside of TA.
I think PKing is an okay addition to any game, however, it's highly questionable ethically when the sole objective is to target an individual repeatedly just to make them leave the game, especially when the player needs to be there, and there is no defense against repeated attacks.
Sorry lewis, please Enlighten me as to which materials cannot be gathered effectively outside of ta?

Meru has put it straight. The TA is currently designed to drag pve players as cattle for PKers - a very derogative game mechanics and i bet it has costed the game many many players by now.
A solution that would allow PvPers to fight as much as they want and not annoying other players would be a PvP button. When turned on it allows to fight other players whos PvP flag is also activated (for all i care across the whole world) and when turned off it disables attacking others and being attacked by them. Simple clean solution for a longtime problem.

..guilds will help out the 'gang' problems in TA or any future PVP islands put in. Guildmates and outside Alliances will help make these places more fun with PvP
The only problem is during Plasma Lord.. Which can be fixed with disabling PvP while its spawned..

no, sorry i have to disagree with you bart,no one is forced to gather on TA, as has been said, players can gather all they need outside of TA,

If the material nodes are found outside TA then there is no downfall for any type of player..

guilds could possibly be the worst thing HCS introduce at the moment, it's hard enough for new players to get a group for dungeon runs as it is, imagine how much harder it would be for them if they weren't in a guild, guild members would feel obliged to help guildies,

When more players help lower level players they might understand the need to help all low levels, not just guildmates.. Because helping random players could help recruitment and just overall health of the game

TA causes more problems than good for Eldevin.
We have such a small community it can be hard for people not to take offence when constantly killed and pking only makes you become despised by most of the community. I'm especially not into killing friends, I don't see how someone can kill a friend in TA and it's more backstabbing than anything.
Most pkers i've came across have morals (also check toplist incase someone is on a alt), I admire that but the ones who don't are the lil girls that run away when fighting someone their own size, ask "why?" when you kill them on main or deny that they killed you altogether lol.
Not to mention how hard you make life for everyone who's friends with you.
Player A is friends with Player B, Player A is also friends with Player C, Player B kills Player C and now the rivalry has started. Player A now can't invite 2 friends to run a dungeon with as now Player C and B hate each other. With runs being next to none majority of the time this doesn't exactly help matters.
Treat people how you'd like to be treated, I'd rather have friends over killing someone any day.
If buff or wave to you in passing, it means hello!
