Just tweaked the prices of the new rewards down a bit - I was thinking they were a little high when we added them actually.

 

Updated costs are:

 

Greater Cloak [Potion] - 5 PvP Ladder Tokens
Prestigious Brew [Bound Potion] - 15 PvP Ladder Tokens
 
I think this is about right :)

is it MAYBE possible to get the "composing" - "UI" when buying potions from the PvP ladder section in the future?

instead of frags we will have tokens to spend !!!

 

PvP Rewards:

PvP prestige 120 min => 15 tokens

cloak 450 min => 5 tokens

 

for EXAMPLE I could choose to buy 1 potion with several "skills" and different durations:

  • 1 pot consisting of PvP prestige 40 min (5 tokens) + cloak 90 min (1 token) => for 6 tokens in total !!!
  • 1 pot consisting of PvP prestige 80 min (10 tokens) + cloak 90 min (1 token) => for 11 tokens in total !!!

what I mean is to let us choose the duration & the skills we want to put in 1 pot (same as with composing)

the longer the duration the more tokens you need to spend & vice versa

 

is this a good or bad idea?

Can these new reward potions be unbreakable/ in leechable , similar to how pvp season buffs / pots are?

Thanks HCS for first reward add. I hope that will get people to come back to the ladder. Quite sparse again on my now 500 level span one... O___+

 

I've wanted to comment on all the PvP stuff IN THE PROPER PLACE (hint, hint), but time, time. )o0

 

So to stick to this topic:

 

Prestige pots should always be bound. In my opinion. Period.

 

I like that the Cloak pot is unbound. That makes "sense" to me based on the current FS market economy. 

 

Prestige pot price: 5 tokens seems extremely low to me personally. I always understood prestige to be a way to "counteract" the XP loss. I'd "like" the prize to give back something like the half the average XP loss cost. 

 

However, I realize every ladder is different... so I'm really not sure that can be accurately measured. I "feel" (by that I mean to say that I'm not sure) that 10 tokens at least would be a better price. 2 direct wins (which theoretically cost a good amount of stam) gets you a pot or 4 to 5 "places" (second or third) also gets you the pot. 

 

As far as other pot awards: I've only had time to skim and seen some great ideas. 

 

HCS: could you go through the list and perhaps make a poll/discussion on it with the ideas you think are viable? 

 

A pick 3 or 5 or whatever? Maybe? lol...

The best rewards seem to be bound potions, they get used up, you need to compete to earn more.  I don't see them losing value over time as they are consumable.  Also, you can always add or change potions to keep interest high.

Is every new potion or buff going to be immune to spell breaker and or spell leach ?  That's a bit much don't you think ?  What's next a new epic spell breaker or spell leach potion that will work against the new epic potions that are immune ?  Let's not get carried away with protecting buffs and potions from sl / sb, that is just like adding a huge win button.

So you mean every time i get My Cloak off with a SB or SL i need to buy 1 again ? And how is that like handing over a Huge win button ? I think that the tokens earned need to be protected .. The buffs and stamina used to pvp in order to take the first place needs protection.. Hence the Cloak needs to be immune to SL and Sb.

You can get those in the Arena. I don't think that potions should overlap between Arena, Ladder and Seasons.

I agree. I'm still wondering if it was an error to make the Season ones immune. However, I do see a line of logic there.

I think that makes sense... though I'd kind of suggest that the indication be included when looking at the potion itself. That's to say, when you see the buff, it says so, but I believe it does not say that on the potion itself. 

 

I could 100% be wrong.

 

No gloat 300 buff for pvp tokens? Im dissapointed :(

BM 300 and Gloat 300 would be super great :) Maybe 10 tockens each that's about 3 days on ladder and placing first on 2 resets, also EW1000 would be great but with 1 arena tocken, the pot costs 2,500 gold on AH but sometimes you need the pot very fast and quick so that should help

Perhaps i'm alone in my thinking ... but I think its ridiculous to be adding rewards to pvp ladder when the pvp ladder system in itself is flawed. I realize this isn't constructive feedback on what type of rewards should be added but I think it should be mentioned nonetheless.

In all of your wisdom and experience please explain what you mean by 'the PvP Ladder System is flawed.' To me the statement is ambiguous and anti-PvP hate baiting. What specifically is wrong with the Ladder in your opinion?

 

I think the attempt by Hoof is to see if some rewards wouldn't drive more players to participate. That 'in itself' would improve the Ladder in my experience. While I think he's headed in the right direction, he needs to step up whatever else it is he proposes to add to the Ladder rewards because some cloak and prestige pots are marginal improvements at best. But after all this time I'm willing to be a little more patient...

not ambiguous or anti-pvp at all Luis.  We just got done with a long drawn out pvp update which resulted in a PvP Events seasonal update without any REAL change being done with pvp, BB, pvp ladder, or gvg. The addition of a few prizes is childs play in terms of reforming pvp. The only reason there is going to be more people pvping is due to the new additions to pvp ladder. Once those get flooded, we are back to where we started with not much activity. 

 

As for whats wrong with pvp ladder, there are tons of things but i'll just list the most obvious. Biggest one would be Guild vs Player dynamic. Lets say X Guild has 5 people enter into a ladder and 3 other people from other guilds join the same ladder. With current ladder rules, guild mates can't hit each other in pvp ladder so they would be forced to ONLY hit people in other guilds, right? That leads to collusion and blocking players out of reasonably competing for top slot.

 

In terms of solutions, perhaps allow guild mates to hit each other in pvp ladders? Also, why not allow guild mates to clear guild mates off the board (they are bound to at least get the soft clear anyways)? A cap on the number of people from the same guild allowed to enter a ladder OR require that they at least attempt 1 hit on every participant per ladder. Not a perfect fix but a step in the right direction. What does the community think?

 

However, I agree its been too long since PvP changes got addressed and new prizes got added for pvp ladder and gvg.

 

 

I apologize if this is in bad taste to bring up this issue in a rewards suggestion thread but its silly to be thinking about rewards when the system in itself is flawed. That really should be addressed before more rewards are added

Thanks for being specific. It's not collusion if they CAN'T HIT EACH OTHER! In fact the advantage goes to the one or two players who have many targets. They have many more targets to score points. You should know this if you have played the ladder. But you're thinking like a defeated player who can't compete because they don't try. Now the level range per bracket has increased twofold in upper level ranges so the pool from which players may join has just grown. You will get collusion when you allow guild mates to hit one another.

 

I've always thought and preferred an Arena style Tournament Ladder where players join knowing at a specific time they will be battling against other players - however many opponents. They would have time to prepare and complaints about not being buffed would be the fault of the player joining. ALL players would fight one another in a near Sudden Death Elimination. Two losses and you are out of the Tourney. Winner advances, loser falls into a second losers tier. So you can lose once and still have a chance to win the tournament. Rewards are based on final rank, and nothing too crazy in the skill level but pots would be the reward - and UNBOUND!

Please don't duplicate potions like Brewing Master 300. Potions need to be exclusive to different parts of the game. Otherwise the value will lessen even further!!
