It seems tome that most topics these days mention online player numbers. I believe that the number of online players is a lot higher than the numbers show. Think about it; older players (such as myself) start to accumulate quite a bit of stam. Mine is not that high (yet) but there are those with numbers in the 100's of thousands. It takes me over three weeks to build to max now and while waiting for new content I only log on for a couple of minutes per day unless i find a guildie or ally to talk to. So, numbers that show 300 players online may only reflect a few players at a time, but are they the SAME players 24/7? I doubt it.

I created this poll to see what you think. This is for FUN mostly as only HCS knows how many players are playing. So have fun with it!

Unfortunately many associate the online player number with actual number of active players in the game. This is not the case as the online player figure is only an indicator of how many players are online at any one time and not the total player base. I accept that the online player number is in decline but I reckon, and this is an informed guess, that there is in the region of 1200 to 2000 active players. Maybe more :)

Cheers.

There are always a lot of assumptions based on statistics. I can say from my profession that there is a lot of self-interest involved in how they are presented.

What I've always wondered when people bring up the topic is if the parameters are the same as they were years ago for what is considered "online" player.

Currently, online players, according to the link, counts players online in the last 30 minutes. I have no idea if that was always the case.

That said, this link shows an online graph, but there is no indication of the timeline it covers.

Currently, it states that there are 716,763 FS players. I have no idea if that is simply an account count, but it's what I suspect.

From my personal experience, I know there was a huge exodus for various motives. I also do see new people coming in and talking in Global or whatever.

This link  currently shows that 208 new players have joined in the last 4 days. You could use it to make some dubious conclusions at best.

On what Tharzill says, there is a huge argument for that on the one-hand. I actually earlier today checked the top 10 for my month and I'm only at 25. One was inactive which doesn't necessarily imply anything.

Others had varying days gone, but almost all were at extremely low stam in their banks.

My experience does tell me that people log in only to hunt or when called in to do this or that.

Anyway, tharz, not too sure if any of that info is useful or not.

The real question for me is: would it really be efficient if there were more FS addicts like me, on quite a lot, and posting walls of text which most don't have the patience to read through? lmfao.

PS... that's not to imply that my personal walls of text are useful.

I believe it was once the last 20 minutes and currently it is the last 45 minutes (despite what the message). HCS is increasing this to make it appear that there are more online players.

You have any evidence to back that up? EDIT: zizz gave it below (o0

My major question has always been that those from near my join time are quick to talk about the +1k that were online before, but if that was based on 24h activity, then... well, yeah, ya get me.

Statistics are made to say what we want them to. Take things with a grain of salt.

seems to me that perhaps that little number at the top that tells you your rank might have something to do with active players? I only suggest this because I have only been back in game less than 3 mths but when I hunt I jump in rank substantially and a couples  of days later I am usually sitting at either down by 1 or 2 until my next hunt.  As a level 710 I am ranked at 3824.

I don't know how this would be affected by players who might be off a week or so at atime - are they counted in this number?

What I do is not listed in among the selections.

I mostly log in and sit, watching stam, talking if someone talks, reading chats, reading here and when not doing any of those things, I'm playing another game while my account just hangs  out.

I came back to the game just on 2 years ago after a year away, At the time I was told there were around 3600 "active" players.

I use a number of checks to measure activity during donation events I monitor 60$ donations and compare with previous years These days they run at around 15% of what they were in 2011'12.

Players do take 45 minutes to time out now when I started that was 15 minutes.

Massive stam tanks exist to create xp largely and do almost nothing else in game except arena normally.

The less people level the fewer bounties will be posted.

Stamina and the time it takes to gain really is why the game is so limited, you cannot play all of the game and increase stamina So people have to pick and choose between playing the game and waiting to level.

Levelling ultimately gives players the ability to play all of it, being at eoc allows players to sit still and if they have 70 to 100 k max stam they can level 2 times a year at current content rates and play the parts that interest them in quiet times.

Pvp is seen as not profitable and bad for character development as it hinders your ability to get to eoc, On the plus side though Via understanding PVP and the understanding of buffs and equipment it Allows players to be more efficient at all facets of the game and use less stamina to gain more xp/gold.

there's also the issue of FallenSword not being the only game people play... some have left the game due to finding another game to play that is more addictive. This could be part of the 'real life issues', as it is reality that people play more than one game to keep them happy.

There is still a hard core of players who stick to FS. It's only natural for any game to have a player base that expands and contracts according to the advertising strategies of the makers.
