Thanks or the relatively lag free event, and thanks for the extra levels. Now I will have something to use my stamina on once it gets full again.

Egami’s recount for people to put things in perspective (o0

This recount was done after the extra 50 levels of content were announced and is solely based on analysis of comments in the FS Forum after the announcement was made in the FS Forum post itself. It is divided by posters, not the number of comments they made.

Complaints about the extra 50 levels added 24 hours after the start: 9 posters.

Players positive on the unexpected addition, be it anti-complainers or those giving thanks and/or liking: 7 posters (with me included 8).

Players making negative comments: 1 poster.

Players making positive comments on the event: 8 posters.

Players refraining from judgement and simply offering advice regarding the surprise: 1.

So, we’ve got negative 9 and positive 8, excluding the “comment factor”. I excluded the comment factor because they weren't 100% dealing with whether it was a good or bad idea to add the 50 levels after the event started.

I didn't think it was a "fair" inclusion in that regard.

In general:

86 players at or above the 3,100 EOC level.

61 players above the original 3,050 but below the 3,100.

From the above, total individuals directly involved: 147.

Anyway, hope that helps people with some info.

Thanks again for the event HCS. (o0

Be interesting to see (and, I have to admit, I can't be bothered going back and checking LOL) how many of those 8 positive votes about the extra 50 levels of content were actually affected by it - as in, were they of a level where there hunt could/would have been affected.

If not, I don't think those votes are actually relevant to the "argument / debate". That said, nor should any of the 9 negatives be "relevant", if said players weren't affected.

It's all good and well for some players thousands of levels below EOC (and I'm not meaning you here Egami, your posts are pretty much always well thought out and well considered) posting comments about "curve balls" etc when it has exactly ZERO affect on them :)

Homer : Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals .. except the weasel.

Eddie Izzard : The National Rifle Association say that guns don't kill people, people do. But I think the gun helps, you know ? I think it helps. I think just standing there going "BANG" - that's not going to kill too many people, is it ?

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but it seems that everything I eat lately turns to poo ...

To me, it was a great event and great planning because everyone gained 2x XP and no lag. As for the extra 50 levels after the announcement, they are EXTRA. Some benefited and some didn't.

In real life, why would anyone complain about a suprise extra bonus at the end of the year or middle of the year?

@Pardoux's #105 post. For sure. No tone in this.

Stats definitely have a way of being "conveniently" presented.

I did not pay attention to the levels, though I did try to divide out the positive (and one negative) comments on the event itself from the issue at hand.

What you're getting at is precisely why I left myself "out" of the vote itself and I think the idea does have some merit.

However, in my personal case only, it matters not whether it affected me or not this round. It did affect Guildies and Allies.

I hope people don't read me wrong. It's not that I don't understand the "angst". Heck, even Hoof and BG chimed in there.

My favorite post was Belaric's specifically because it affected him.

I don't necessarily agree with whether someone was "affected", positively or negatively, being the single criteria.

Primarily that's because I believe my opinion on the underlying issue, call it the "curveball", has relevance for future game things.

Regardless, on your point I "think" that the most relevant stats are those at the end. 86 players (approx. 58%) above 3100 and 61 in what we could call "no man's land".

I admit, for me that's a relatively close call. I'm also sure that "some" of the 86 had to make further effort.

That doesn't perturb me at all. HCS has always been really clear that they want to force us to make decisions. I'm all for that. I'm also hoping that there are some more curveballs thrown this week. ,oP

EDIT: Added to the last line.

I find it hard to believe (Nevermind...I've read the forum enough) that players complain about a curve ball after years of complaining that everything in the game was laid out like a cookie cutter.

So they gave you an extra 50 levels....Haven't players at EOC been hollering about lack of content release for a good 7-8 years now? You get it, and then still manage to yell?

Keep whining abou the XP events...Eventually they'll get tired of reading it and stop rolling them out.

This EOC curve ball did not affect me for obvious reasons.

However, there have been other curve balls that did affect me, some I rolled with, some I gripped about some made me angry but in the end all I could do was roll with them.

Please stop whining so much and roll with it because the day they stop rolling out the surprises is the day this game will become just another boring game.

No one is complaining on the basis of there being surprises, obviously, almost everything in this game is a surprise. The complaints are on the basis of inequity.  That there is some inequity is obvious. Anyone who personally started the event in the first day had less opportunity. That is simply a fact. If you want to dismiss it is a minor concern, that is certainly valid. But to say there is absolutely ZERO basis for any negative opinion is ridiculous.

What's done is done, and in the end relatively minor, but minor is not the same as nothing.

lol

Please browse a few of the other comments here, Grimnok,  and I think you will find some complaints about the way the surprise content arrived as well as some happy players.

But EOC does not affect me yet so I just watch and cheer or jeer as my mood shifts.

I hope you all enjoyed the Double XP event. On a positive note, I think it was the most lag-free one yet :)

I would like to say, that I still would like the opportunity to compose to a high level, I really hope that I am given this opportunity instead of being marginalized by those that have got there and now want it changed.  :/

So, in essence, don't change it, I want to get there regardless of how long it takes. IE DON"T throw a curve ball

This EOC curve ball did not affect me for obvious reasons.

However, there have been other curve balls that did affect me, some I rolled with, some I gripped about some made me angry but in the end all I could do was roll with them.

So, in essence, stop whining about a curve ball that affected some players.

Seems to me that

1. Curve ball affects me = BAD, DON'T DO IT

2. Curve ball doesn't affect me = STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT IT, CURVE BALLS ARE GOOD

Hmmm, double-standards, much ? ;)

Pardoux, composing is not an event and that is what I don't want changed. However 2x composing experience.. IS an event, but I'm rarely able to take part in those because I just don't have the gold for it.

The last level content was dropped into the game at the end of the 2x experience event. I'm not the one who called it a curve ball, I just borrowed the phrase.

That did not affect me, downgrading composing will affect me and every single player in the game.

Composing is what I have asked not to be changed.

Double standard?... I don't think so, but if you need it to be... It's ok with me. If it makes you feel better that's ok with me.

Oh, it is OK with me thanks :)

The game evolves all the time, things get changed all the time. Composing either will or won't change, other things will or won't change.

What I take exception to is your "I don't want this to change until I've managed to reach Level 60 too", regardless of how long that takes.

If you want to reach Level 60, focus on that - if you don't, then just accept what may or may not happen with composing down the track. NOTHING in the game stays still :)

Pythia you still have a bronze medal several months later but still keep at the same argument. Composing 6 hours a day for you at one slot costs maybe 30k a day. Don't tell me there's no possible way you can make that happen. 100% agree with Pardoux here composing shouldn't wait for you to experience it if you have no motivation to do so.
