just did a little bit of math about the formula for xp required for each composing level.

formula: (level-1)^2)*250
level 50 composing level: (50-1)^2*250 = 600250 xp

according to this: http://wiki.fallensw...x.php/Composing , the best potion to make is (for xp gain): 
2 skills: 1 with lvl 40 and 1 with lvl 14, duration: 54 min, takes 100 min to make and gives you 20 composing xp. or 1 xp every 5 min 

 

So, the best potion to make to gain the most xp pr. min gives us 1 xp pr.  5 min. 
60/5 = 12*1 xp = 12 xp pr. hour (max)

 

600250/12 xp pr. hour = 50020 hours to gain level 50 in composing (without buying "instant finish")

So, 50020 hours/24 hours pr. day = 2084 days. 

I just think that quite a lot to gain composing level 50? it's 5,7 year non stop brewing :P

You're not taking into account that each time you gain a composing level, the time to create said potion diminishes by 5 mins.

 

Level 50 isn't meant to be attained overnight, but yes, I agree that the current timescales are - ASSUMING NOTHING ELSE CHANGES - too long.

 

BUT, things are changing - Hoof is keen on the idea of making multiple potions at once - that option being made available at some, as yet, unspecified, composing level - and that will speed up the levelling process considerably ..

the better solution here might be to add a "remove all gear" button and leave combat sets working the way they are.

Or add "Fast remove" in the case that one wants to keep some gear on

I have 7 combat sets. They are very useful for different setup combinations. I had hoped to make a empty set so I could hunt naked for frags but also to reset for creating another and was kind of disapointed I couldnt save a empty one.

My main is improved Composing as it is short and sweet. With that PLEASE DO NOT randomize potion colour and bottle type. Different potions I make as different colours and shapes. I would rather know that i need to click left 4 times to get to my bottle, then have to go searching for it every time.

you added the marketplace increase and only one day to do it ...sadly it wont get that many votes only effects ppl selling fsp when most of fs buys fsp ..if it only takes a day or a couple hours to change the value do it anyway hoof doesnt hurt anyone at all

Would it be possible to add a log message for when a pot is finished composing?  I made one overnight and when I logged in this morning there was no log message stating that it had been completed.  Not a big deal but it would be a helpful reminder to go and pick your pot up.

Indeed.

The increase in the cost to instant invent it is raised each potion you instant invent. If this was not the case then a lot of people would have paid their way to the highest levels of composing within hours, days or weeks.

 

Sometimes people forget to make a potion (or will need it sooner than they had initially planned) so an instant invent option is very useful and doesn't need to cost all that much.

Only if people instant invent a lot in a fairly short period of time will they pay high gold prices for it.

 

By making the cost increase if you instant invent multiple potions each player is given a choice between spending a lot of gold and gaining XP fast versus spending moderate amounts of gold and gaining XP at a normal rate.

If people really want to level up fast in composing then they will pay a lot of gold and that works as a gold sink. But the main idea behind it is to prevent powerlevelling one's way up to level 50 in mere days/weeks. ;)

 

Agreed, I like it the way it is, if you want to be first there, you have to spend a bunch of gold, it shouldnt be a WIN button, it should be a progression thing.  Many complain about not having anything to do, well, now there is something that you can't get to the top level too easily.

 

So far, I'm liking the whole process, one thing though.

 

It would be nice to have a log message telling us the potion is completed, I'm a pretty forgetful guy, so a reminder the pot is ready would be awesome.

 

Other than that, great work HCS, and kudos working most of the night to get it implemented correctly.

my potion is 96% complete, but still instant finish gold cost is 576,000 :o ? This cost should be less according to the time i think. :mellow:

 

Just tweaked it so the gold cost to instantly complete it scales better (i.e so it costs less the further the progress on the potion is) :D
