#839997 Idea for a fun new creature

Posted by Devilo on 12 January 2014 - 07:27

Creature Name: Rift Chest

RiftChest_zps55267c07.png

Type: Magical

Level: 0                                           Enhancements: Master Thief: 100%

Attack: ???       Defense: ???                                       Reinforced Armor: 50%

Armor: ???       Damage: ???

Description: A magically crafted chest, created to store infinite items, but was corrupted and brought to life by dark magic. Now roams the land of Erildath in search of more items.

Exp: ???          Gold: ???          Item Drop: ???

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

it's stats are random per encounter and can be anything from a rats stat count to a super elites stat count.

it's experience and gold per kill will be randomly set plus an accumulation of experience and gold from the players who couldn't defeat it. (To be reset upon game time 00:00.)

it's item drop will be random and can be any level, any type. (Excluding Epics.)

it's spawn rate would be that of a chest and it would spawn in any realm, for a set period of time.

if it isn't defeated within that set time, it's location will reset. (Taking all accumulated experience and gold with it to the new location)

if it is defeated it will reset immediately upon being defeated. (With a new experience/gold per kill amount)

Well that's my idea. Feel free to criticize/commend it.

(Credits given where credits due, smileynirv and KuRaPiKa12 gave help too.)

(Random stats and chest type spawns were smileynirv's ideas)

(The creature avatar was KuRaPiKa12's design)

Thx for remind us about that Davros.

I believe HCS should create new Global Quests. With the rate of 5/year will take 40 years to anyone to have Diamond =P

#839759 New Arena option.

Posted by yodamus on 11 January 2014 - 16:28

The Arena system is fair for everybody, just need some upgrades.

- New batch of items.
- Arena Tokens (shindrak's idea).
- ?Maybe some new moves?
- Make the 1st round random (help to prevent face guildmates on the 1st round).
- ?1.200+ tournaments?

yes all of the above...big probelm with the last time they did anything to arena was that all the new invents they made to use the items won in arena NEED A RESOURCE !!! ..and they are few and far between and 16 player tourneys...epic fail..been close to 2 years since hcs has even looked at arena...most players have quit the game..arena is dead..takes days for some gold tourneys to start..others we have to wait until entry fee is less than 1k....waste of time...somebody from hcs please pay attention to arena...soon...

#839117 Legendary Event. Dragon Attack 2!

Posted by yotwehc on 10 January 2014 - 00:09

Shorter: awesome job HCS!

Have to agree, we are sometimes our own worst enemies. And a new set could've been introduced later. I couldn't vote on the original poll about changing stats since for purely selfish reasons, I wanted it but for precedence sake, this just encourages more pitchfork and torches.

What's done is done.

Really loving all the activity. Keep up the great work. Don't let the Debbie downers get to you!

#839080 Legendary Event. Dragon Attack 2!

Posted by Egami on 09 January 2014 - 22:19

HCS... IF YOU BOTHER TO READ ANY OF THIS, SKIP TO "CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM... NAH A SUGGESTION" below. I do think the rest is relevant, but I'm well aware that there are more important things to do ,oP

Preamble: I'm leaving out references to specific players who have posted here because I don't want the tone to be mistakenly misinterpreted, one way or the other.

TO START:

I really want to again applaud HCS for all the time and effort they have put into this event and especially the same increased communication on the work they have been doing in the last few months, at least. I think it rocks and it makes me glad to have continued playing for these last six years. (o0

I'd also like to give that message to them 100 fold so that it would help to take the bite out of... well... other comments. Along those lines, I finally put a signature up shortly after my first post in this thread because I myself have been fed up with a large portion of the FS player population's negative "me me" attitude. I decided to choose the sig because it's the issue that irks me time and time again every time I come to the forum. Hopefully, it's edifying.... but this is a global game and I doubt I'm capable of correcting world-wide iniquities.

I also really liked this event because, at least metaphorically, it made a mark on a move towards considering game options other than leveling. I'm not interested in whether players think it was "effective" or not. It would just get way out of hand. What I would like to do is to say, quite sincerely, "thank you" to all those players that pointed out that it was, at least, an LE farming opportunity.

In any case, thank you HCS... many of us out here think you're doing great work.

CONCERN:

I've put that title because I want to underline that this is NOT a "complaint". I will try to "de-Egamify" (some may understand the reference if I say "de-Belaricfy", lol) THIS explanation. I don't want to dwell.

I'm concerned about the decision made to change the 1800 set stats. I say "concerned" not because of the decision made but the perception it, in my opinion, causes and because there was a parallel issue not so long ago.

I want to make very clear that I'm not stating that the decision was wrong (no idea) or that the process was mistaken (no certain knowledge of what was involved in the decision process).

I'm simply worried about the lack of communication to the FS Community. That said, I did follow this process to the best of my abilities, was well aware of the vote and read the comments in the thread where rational arguments were indeed made (as they were both for and against here in this thread). However, it wasn't officially advertised by HCS at all. While I was aware of it, no link was present in this thread (a comment that it existed was) and, barring the Global Chat (which I rarely check), there was absolutely no in-game reference to it. Again, only while my eye was watching.

The actual outcome to me is irrelevant, but the perception of the occurrence is, for me, a cause of concern. I'll leave that, like they say in the movies presented for Oscar nominations "for your consideration". And that will be take me to THE IMPORTANT PART OF THIS POST:

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM... NAH, SUGGESTION:

I myself would consider that the implementation of both the Development Roadmap http://forums.hunted...showtopic=59035 and the Content Roadmap http://forums.hunted...showtopic=58948 (notice that I posted them here, lol) were the two best things that HCS has done for the game in the last year. This isn't meant downplay the composing process or the LEs or the globals or the events, etc., etc. Simply put, they represent a HUGE move by HCS in communicating their work and letting people know what's going on. I'm not even talking about the process that lead up to it, which I think is phenomenal despite what I considered to be inherent flaws. Regardless, that is an all around positive.

Obviously, in any feedback system there are too many variables. The essential raw data is difficult to get to and even a player-driven feedback thread can end up acting against those self-same players that would most benefit from them (was anybody here when I huge gold sink stam gain structure was suggested something like over 5 years ago? wish I could take pictures of the jaws dropping open while reading this). I won't bother with theories or studies in retail. Simply put, a client can be their own worst enemy and a company has to walk a fine line between short-term customer satisfaction and winning client loyalty by convincing them of what they really want.

Interior monologue: Egami, please de-Egamify...

My suggestion is simple though its effectiveness is indeed questionable. Here it is:

What if HCS had placed a STATEMENT OF INTENT at the end of the post on this current Legendary Event?

Now the content is mostly irrelevant so you shouldn't take my example to heart (ie, could be way off base) but it'd give you idea.

LE announcement as is and then before the end date and sign off...

"We have created this second LE to fill in level gaps present in the initial portion of this "Dragon Event" with new creatures and artwork. This second portion was meant to be directed towards players who are at levels that were far away from the levels of those first creatures and thus give them an opportunity to farm LE fragments with less of a penalty to their XP gain while at the same time providing them the opportunity to participate not only in Composing but the new wave of possibilities that has been created for players via farming.

"At the same time, we have attempted to focus the sets' stats towards the many aspects of the game that aren't necessarily directly involved in leveling. We realize that a large portion of the game population will not be interested in these stats, but we are attempting to respond to long-standing requests from those portions of the FS Community interested in some of the other multitudinous gaming options such as PvP (regular, Arena and Ladder), GvG, Relics (attack and defense) and, in some cases, Titan Hunting.

"The HP stats are meant to spawn or respawn interest not only in these game aspects, but possibly in buffs (or even level up points) which have remained largely irrelevant due to the current state of the game such as Chi Strike, Ageless or Anchored.

"We also truly believe that LEs need to remain "special events" of short-term duration. However, in this case, and especially during this holiday season, we wanted to give the FS Community another chance to get their hard-to-come-by LE frags for composing.

"Furthermore, as we continue to fine tune the implementation of the Buff Marketplace http://forums.hunted...=61413&hl=buffs , we are also working hard to bring the “new buffs” discussed here (dang it's late, can't remember, but you get the picture, lol) into the game. You may or may not find the sets offered in this portion of the LE to have relevance in light of those discussions. (And I couldn't resist my favorite typical HCS Home Page comment) Who knows?"

Ok, I didn't de-Egamify. I could have simply left it at some mention of fragmenting and set purpose... but hey... since I decided to take the time, I went full out on the suggestion, lmao!

The point? I think it "might" derail some of the typical responses. It won't get rid of complaints, but hey... it might make the Forum feedback a little more positive... not because the idea is better, but because it is better communicated.

It says in a nutshell: “Hey, we're responding to other people. We know maybe you personally aren't interested but we're working a bit on those aspects which some of the FS players have been requesting for a long time. We're also trying to give players that missed the first part a chance to get some more fragments and, hey, you can take advantage as well. We're here, we're listening. If you're not-at-all interested... feel free to continue playing as if nothing had happened.”

CONCLUSION:

Getting rid of complaints is only a dreamer's utopia. Player input is also fundamental for improvement. In any case, PR is essential for a "free" online game.

A statement of intent is little more than an active attempt to communicate. Probably the most important thing in the world. I think my suggestion will help cut down on (not eliminate) at least those negative comments by "some" players that say "these sets suck" and then go actively farm them for their own game benefit.

If that happens even to a minimal degree, I believe it would be a positive for HCS morale and I, personally, would appreciate it. Apart from that, it's a huge PR opportunity for HCS to show players even further that the company is active and listening.

In any case, thanks again HCS and thanks out to all the players out there who post comments that help me think outside of my box in regard to the game. Those that disagree with me may help to convince me... talking to myself, while fun, is largely ineffectual. Not to mention (have you seen how long this post is?) way too time-consuming, hehe.

Prosperous smacking everybody! (o0

#838866 Legendary Event. Dragon Attack 2!

Posted by cyrus7 on 09 January 2014 - 16:25

in response to the UFSG being updated after the event and asking guildmates:  is this event only for large active guilds that are online enough to share this information? How about players not in a guild or don't know many players?  They are expected to either not take part or wander about aimlessly hoping to somehow bump into a creature?  Come on... surely not?

As I said before, I found out all the info I needed on my own. I didn't go around asking anyone. Beside, why does being in a big guild or not matter? We have tools for whole-community communication (forum and global chat), so anyone could ask for hints if they desired; no one is restricted to only talking to their guild.

All you need to do is think a bit, and you can easily find out what items are available and where the creatures are, especially this far into the event when all the gear is in the Auction House, and the guide lists all realms by level, and the creatures' levels are provided in the news posting.

#838354 Legendary Event. Dragon Attack 2!

Posted by Tastria on 08 January 2014 - 02:23

As I write this there have been 50 posts to this topic. Not a whole lot considering the total game population of FS.  Also, the number of negative comments has floored me.  I hope the forums are not turning into global chat.  I personally don't see the need to have new items to make the game easier, but that is apparently what a majority of said 50 are wanting.  I have to agree with Deadparrot, we don't need to flame.  (Leave that to the dragons.)

With new buffs in the works, with new potential directions the game might take, perhaps HP will finally take a more prominent role in the game.  Perhaps other aspects of the game, aside from leveling and PvP, are being explored.  It seems short-sighted (none of us with the long-term plan for FS in hand) to flame over sets from an LE event.

Relax.

#838293 Would you like to see the new 1800 set with altered stats?

Posted by Bleltch on 07 January 2014 - 22:43

As it is it would have very limited use by a very limited number of players. The stats should be changed to something more useful to more players.

#837343 upgraded elemental epics

Posted by watagashi on 04 January 2014 - 20:27

This subject has come up a couple times and today it became glaringly apparent that there are so many available now its almost not worth the stam to to the quest as so many are for sale so cheap. As these were intended to be a quest and personal achievement to the players who got their own I would like to suggest a couple ways to keep them useful and something the person who earned it wants to keep.

The elemental guys also stay out for a long time and its got a lot to do with a trend of players not bothering to do these quests instead buying one from AH.

An idea to add a 5th epic that required the other 4 to make has been around a while, perhaps its time to rethink that and add it to a level that is missing some?

This idea would reduce all the available ones for sale atm as many level 1200s (just a random level that could work for this) have not saved the ones they earned. It also encourages more players to get one of their own as it will become pretty highly sought out for the high levs who want the new 5th one.

Or do like santork and make a upgraded version, perhaps at 200 for the air, 400 for earth and so on?

This idea would also work to reduce the amount available for sale on all elemental epics but also give a choice,,, and I think one that should have some pros and cons such as higher stats and maybe another +1 stam gain in exchange for it being bound! Bound would make people decide if they want to keep theirs and upgrade or leave it and allow it to be used or sold by another.

Finally one other idea thrown around is add some kind of area or content or quests that you must do the other or others in order to unlock it. A couple suggested examples,,,

A new elite with a side quest attached for each elemental, you must pass the weapon quest to unlock and then can hunt the elite who should have some nice set at that level that wraps around the epic and enhances it. A 100 elemental air armor, helm and boot set would be pretty cool and maybe even find a way to include the epic so when 4 parts are all worn the epic counts as a set and gets around the fact that epics are getting the poor end of the stick when it comes to buffs.

A "revisit" with new titans that are 1k above the origional, the new quest attached to it makes you use the old epic to hunt this titan and when those required kills are reached you get your old epic upgraded to a new one 1k above the old. For example a 1100 can go back and attack the elder air guardian 2000 times to be able to upgrade his old air jav into a 1100 one. Same for the 300 and so on. this one I really like as we also could add elementals to 1000 then elder ones to 2000.

The last suggested idea would be make a set of recipes that use an elemental epic, make them a one shot bound pot with some sick choices for the buffs it gives, something like a leveling pack on par with a global chest or pvp pack on par with a darksun chest would take a lot of these epics off the market. Perhaps even set it to a quest so you can only do it once and maybe even make it unlocked after you earn your own epic before you can do this.

Long and short the elemental epics are getting older and many are available in AH so people are not doing them like they used to. This is one easy way to learn the ropes on titan hunting and I think the game suffers because people arent doing this anymore. A couple ways to eliminate the old ones while encouraging people to get one of their own again would go far to help fix these problems.

Pros, more titan hunting both on the elementals and the players who catch the bug by doing these and become pro titan hunters then. Less elemental epics in AH= price goes up. This not only encourages more people to get one of their own but also is a nice way for them to make a bit of FSP when they are done with them. Nobodys gonna complain if we revisit them and make a upgraded version,, everyone loves epics! And finally it will bring a lot more fun to these quests and encourage players to try them.

The only real cons are the time to implement this and the polls to decide which option would work best. Im sure some out there dont want elemental epics above 1k but for the most part this is just a great gift to all players from 100-2000!

#836826 Buff Marketplace

Posted by Tastria on 02 January 2014 - 15:25

I have to agree with Bart.  I haven't been on as long as some of the posters here, but the game has certainly gotten easier in the last 5 years.  I am always amazed at the prices folk charge for their buffs, with the exception of some of the upper level buffs, you can do much better at the AH getting potions.  It's true they don't last as long, but they are usually MUCH cheaper.  Of course I'm looking at things from a level 329 viewpoint, which hasn't changed over my career here.  I'll go so far as to say that the need to get buffs NOW is a symptom of instant gratification.  Guilds used to stress that their members plan ahead, and get their potions from the AH instead of the higher priced stuff from the potion bazaar.  I see various players stating in their bio's that they want their guildmates to buff themselves first, (what a novel concept!!) use their potions, and THEN ask for buffs.  It certainly is possible to play FS without having a level 1800 buff you with everything that he/she has.  But I digress, sort of.

After reading all the posts, I am really getting to think that this is a solution in search of a problem.
