#968639 PVP Seasons as a Global

Posted by sweetlou on 11 September 2016 - 15:36

Seasons in my opinion, like a Fallensword mobile app, will never come to fruition for one reason - it makes no sense to HCS. It's failed once, why follow it up? There are too many players opposed to the way it automates punishment, its heavy stam cost, disadvantages players not ultra upgraded, and much more... It will cost to much to develop, and not only financially!

The latest "new" game feature, Daily Quests, was gravely disappointing since it's actually nothing new. Standard quests are already far more fun, interesting, and rewarding. And that says something! To me it is merely a ploy to have players check in more regularly since composing, which previously did the same thing, has already flattened out. And composing rewards are game breaking. The game needs something authentically NEW!!! I just don't know if the developers are up to the task.

#968134 Game Update 2.9 - Daily Quests!

Posted by sweetlou on 05 September 2016 - 02:29

After the game I came to love and enjoy so many, many years ago was for all practical purposes abandoned I just have to laugh at how cheap rewards can be made, it's astonishing! These 200 odd daily quest feel like drive-thru development to appease(or not). Regular quests at least give out some pretty good xp. I don't feel any teeth to this update. What is it, day 4? And I already feel unsatisfied, again.

#967716 Daily Quests - sneak peek!

Yeah the quests and rewards will vary each day and I think we'll also look to expand the variety of quests / rewards available after the initial release of it too :)

Roughly how many quests are we looking at facing before they repeat?

#966746 Ladder Potions Question

Posted by sweetlou on 06 August 2016 - 22:29

My opinion is widely known, they need to be nerfed across the board.
(Of course many won't be willing to let go of their win buttons, so they won't be...)

Doom, I concur. The problem I see isn't about how the pots are gained, whether it be through GEs, Ladder play or Composing. It is how negatively effected the game is because of the triple and quadruple increased skill levels now available to a select few compared to what the standard levels are. Sure everyone has the potential to earn them but the reality is much different. I seriously believe Hoof has been so busy running the Company he doesn't know what's going on. Meanwhile Grim has been busy cranking up the skill levels like he's feeding goldfish - they will keep eating until they die. PvP is much more hyper sensitive to the discrepancies but it has a big impact on PvE as well. Now there is a group of players who rightly claim they worked hard to earn these Composed pots. Why should they give up the omnipotence? Ironically to play the Ladder it is almost a requirement. Global Event pots have only made the game focus on pot management. I'm in the consensus with others that the skills need to be nerfed way down, maxing out about 200-250. Those level 60 composers and Ladder token holders can be given some other skills, be it higher levels or something new, as long as the stat changing skill levels are left reasonable to play against all others and the game! Now that we've all had a taste of God-like stats pushing donation drives where the pots are also crazy would be a windfall.

#966367 GE Idea

Posted by sweetlou on 30 July 2016 - 23:24

Deleted post - from overwhelming headaches as a result of repeated banging of head against brick walls :)

I really feel the headache of playing these days where donation drives are thrown out there without a single coding improvement, beyond some bandaids, being added in a very long time. Still waiting on Daily Quests but could still be waiting on mobile platform too so I'll await delivery before us players can celebrate.

So these types of suggestions really have no realistic hope of implementation. We are relegated to bare bones development. Someone prove me wrong!

#966115 Daily Events

Posted by sweetlou on 23 July 2016 - 10:23

Cap the stam allowed to be used on specific daily events. The results need to be based on IF you attain x amount of y, not who gains the most. The goal is daily activity by participating.

#966038 Stat Changing Skill Levels in Super Pots Are Harmful

Posted by sweetlou on 20 July 2016 - 22:01

Don't worry - we're not changing anything at the moment. I just wanted to find out more about what the issue was so it could be discussed. If we did consider changing it, we'd put it to an in-game poll first to gauge the opinion of the wider community, and then also have more discussion about it.

So now that we have had your attention for a few minutes is it too presumptuous to ask what kind of priority we can get on coding development for FS? It's been awfully quite around this game for far too long I think most of us have noticed. Do players get the teaser of some talk and get to wait another 6+ months? A big 10 year anniversary is coming without a single peep, kind of a shame.

#965865 Stat Changing Skill Levels in Super Pots Are Harmful

Posted by sweetlou on 13 July 2016 - 01:43

1) Is the issue mainly the disparity between the character skill levels and the skill levels available in potions now? Would increasing the potential max skill level (of some) of the character skills help this?

2) Is it that the some of the higher level skills have a negative impact mainly on PvP or do you feel it affects both the PvP and PvE aspects of the game?

3) Which skills do you think specifically are causing an issue? What do you feel would be a more appropriate max level for them or could the skill possibly be tweaked so the higher levels don't have such an impact (ie. diminishing return for higher levels of the skill).

For some time the high leveled stat changing skills, like Smashing Hammer 552 and Keen Edge 403, found in Global event pots, Ladder pots and yes Composed pots have unbalanced the game fortuitously. Some of these pots have 625 leveled skills before being distilled. It's frankly ridiculous. Those high skill levels make it impossible to play against players who have them by those who do not. These "Super Pots" simply erode away any challenge to playing, reducing the game to pot management. PvP and GvG  are definitely negatively effected but also in PvE, where any need to look at creature stats has disappeared and where any gear can reasonably be used for about 1000 levels. These potions make the game obscenely easy and give a competitive advantage beyond reason in PvP/GvG.

Solutions have been mentioned so far from lowering/capping skill levels to restricting skills from being used in certain aspects like PvP and GvG to raising the 175 skill level cap to offset the disparity. However the game is beyond saturated with these pots least we forget players have invested considerably to attain some Super pots so it does seem a tad unfair to punish players who have attained their ability to make level 60 composing pots for example. Those potions could be tweaked to compensate the players who would lose the ability to make huge stat changing skill levels with adding levels to PvE skills like Conserve or AL or others. There needs to be a real development review that takes a look at the effects of the stat changing skill levels which have been raised haphazardly.

Sorry to ask for more work to be done by HCS here but I can appreciate that Hoof is finally considering looking at this terrible turn of development the game has taken . The advantage given to those who have attained these skills is too great - and I am even one who benefits. It's no wonder there are selfish players who are adamant about keeping their advantage - they need it. Let's return the game to being a bit more equitable between players.

#965193 Double XP Event begins!

Posted by sweetlou on 04 July 2016 - 03:59

it would indeed, but I doubt anyone thinks that such brutal honesty will be forthcoming ;)

Better yet, it would be like getting an answer to why 50 levels were subsequently added, screwing many players near EOC. How could annoying customers who have undoubtedly been around the game a while, probably had previously donated and are at EOC be a good plan by the devs? That kind of brutal honesty explaining what went down may not endear every player but it would earn some respect at the very least. At this stage maybe it's been missed altogether, who knows.

That poll had almost no time for input, and the get rid of it wasn't a majority. I made a point in regards to the cows seemed to have a lot of content planned based on that overhaul.

Also, I DO actually blame a SMALL number of players who mainly just backbench, don't support the game, talk trash about the cows, and screech when they have the ability to punish people for intruding on an area of the game they domineer altered. I think we BOTH know if the poll had been a week long ordeal you lot wouldn't have been happy with the results.

Also, how many times have you said you were quitting the game to try to force the cows to do what you want like a 10 year old?

I'm tired of people like you (louie) trashing the cows as almost the sole thing you do on here. How they haven't just forum banned you is beyond me.

Blame whoever you want. I'll own continued attempts to rouse development back into the game. You want to blame me for shaming HCS into returning to development? Thank you! Leefy is correct, this game would go absolutely nowhere, and I think Hoof knows it, if HCS started censoring.

Personally we've had more coding updates the past several months than we had been seeing over the couple years prior to that. People throwing a fit over Seasons rather than suggesting changes to it did more to stifle what the cows were working on methinks than people realize.

You are pretty quick to point the blame on players for development missteps. HCS attempted a major overhaul of two established game aspects - the Ladder and Bounty Board - that turned out to be widely unpopular for a variety of reasons. As a result, rather than working with players as had always been done in the past, they gave up and pulled the plug. They quit. That was a first. And this forum is filled with Season suggestions so again to blame players for its failure is just wrong. The only decision maker around here is Hoof, plain and simple. It's obvious to me his priorities have been aimed elsewhere. He needs to spend more then a few minutes once a month to call it development, where his actions will meet his latest words to make the game thrive again.

#964834 PvP Gain.....what does one get for a successful defense?

Posted by sweetlou on 26 June 2016 - 00:41

I'm for defensive Prestige. Prestige should also be gained according to stam used only! There's way to much collusion. So defending shuld also gain prestige according to the attackers' stam used.

Apologies for not posting as much on the forum recently. I'll try and check in more often and also feedback more on the ideas. I really enjoy working on the game and I'm hoping to be able to dedicate a lot more time to it soon.

Thanks! <crosses fingers>

I think it's better to announce updates as they are upcoming and then released rather than having a long roadmap. Will be posting up what's coming next once the FS guide update goes live.

If I saw something new developed it might conjure up the old donation juices. Alas even promises don't instill any longer. Quid pro quo Clarisse, quid pro quo.

So you're healthy I hope. What about the game? Does Fallensword still garner enough revenue to justify development beyond quest-less content?
