#904681 Forthcoming Composing Update.

Posted by sweetlou on 25 November 2014 - 22:53

Composing was presented to us as 50 levels with buffs unlocked as we increase in levels.  This did not happen after a certain point.

To add new levels now and not give any acknowledgement to what has happened to date is not fair to those who have completed the task of reaching lvl 50 composing.   How is this not logical?

I agree with you Melissa, there should be some acknowledgement of all composing xp if it's possible to administer it retroactively. There are too many jealous haters out there. Pay no attention and get Hoof's attention. That's who you need to convince. You should not be punished for hitting the cap which is what is effectively happening. Character leveling has diminishing returns for a reason, so players can compete sometimes spending money without grinding away to level infinity. Composing should be no different. The current composing only hits a wall which needs to be addressed. The same insatiable content has already begun in composing. So rather than punish players who excel there should be some adjustment to how composing EOC is handled. Maybe set up diminishing returns there as well...

#904207 Development Update 19th November 2014

No can do. It should only require a touch of common sense. As is usually the case, if we provide one or two examples, certain people only see that as the rules. Remember the original Chat Rules? They had to be expanded simply because players would say "Not in the rules" when it's quite obviously inappropriate.

I'm not surprised. I don't want to get into an argument over how common sense can vary by differing perspectives. It's a broad brush stroke with which to justify just like the case-by-case directive. I get it. Don't paint yourself into a corner. So our examples will be our own experiences.

I did read it yes. It's confusingly worded.

You weren't defending yourself. You were trying to ruin the other player completely. Now drop it and stay on topic.

The way I read her example of how events were mistaken is precisely why an appeals process is needed to be used. Most don't know it's thankfully available if the player hasn't quit the game already. It's nice to remember there are two sides to each argument.

How would you like to see them improved? Without being silly.

Considering how long PvP requires players to be buffed to be competitive, increasing the length of the pots would be helpful!

There's too many win buttons already

#903658 Make Deflected hits non-bountable

Posted by sweetlou on 22 November 2014 - 20:55

a risk of five levels for a defect? brutal..

This never happens unless you have over the years grievously earned losing 5 levels, I have only a couple in my book. In other words people are gunning for you. And that risk, ever so slight or great, needs to remain!

Very few levelers seem to understand even the basics of PvP.

There are only slight differences between attacking a mob and hitting another player. Each person's character still has attack, defense, armor, damage and HP. The basic game mechanics are the same; attack over defense, etc.

No thank you to the poster's idea.

I would rather see deflect changed or removed. If changed, make it to where the buff only allows one deflect or a couple similar to how SSI works.

Deflect is offensive and aggravating.

We'll get that changed :)

Cheers! Wow, I miss having you around!!

#902310 Development Update 19th November 2014

Posted by sweetlou on 19 November 2014 - 20:43

Over the years as the game's evolved, we feel that many of the PvP discussions and changes have actually been detrimental to PvP and essentially watered down what was once a really important part of the game.

Any discussions on PvP on the forum usually are split 50/50 on whether the community thinks they're a good idea or not and I feel it kinda creates a divide. We'd actually like to see PvP move back towards how it used to be back when the game first launched as it was something that was exciting and vibrant - I'm sure many players who have been around that long will remember the difference!

So to answer your question - we're going to focus on adding a new PvP tournament system (and at the same time remove the ladder) without changing 'normal' PvP in the game. I do think many aspects of normal PvP also need improved (such as the bounty board), but any changes we do make will be to improve it, not dilute it :)

Hoof, your words are heart-warming. I, among many, have been waiting too long to hear that you have not abandoned the game you had made so fun and popular. While I'm still in a holding pattern, I will remain optimistic about the potential to return the game to it's former glory through one of the fundamental aspects of the game, PvP. Please continue to ask players here in the forum as you once did regularly. We all know your time is precious but the interaction makes a considerable difference!

Deleted? I have not deleted any posts here.

I wanted to complement you guys on the buff scroll overs that calculate exact percentages for skills that are used. While I used to take pride in being able to do rough estimates in my head, this certainly makes things more precise and gives it a professional look. Thanks.

#900827 Game Update v2.51

Posted by sweetlou on 14 November 2014 - 14:59

wow..all the griping about se kills..when 5 days ago nobody cared at all about se's....yes the number on the profile should show the correct total that someone has killed, but is it that important ??   the top-rated lists just needs a disclaimer showing that the top-rated is from nov.13th 2014..same for titan kills..i have a lot of se kills and titan kills...but i am quite happy to see the top-rated list starting at zero...it has added new competittion to those 2 aspects of the game..players are once again hunting se's and buying se locs..great for the newer players ( and that is most important,,anything that helps newer players is very good for the game), and they can actually find thier way onto a top-rated list, making them even more encouraged to keep playing.. same with the titan kills, for new players starting new guilds..the things updated are reviving the game and making it better for new players..that is more important than some silly notation on someone's profile..

Leave the new top rated lists as of Nov. 13th 2014 but take down the SE kills on the profile. It's a fair compromise. Personally I think it's ridiculous to have to look at 0 kills every time you go to your profile(which is often) when you actually have 1000s of them. Those kills represent more then 100s, if not thousands of hours of work and dedication to this game. It's a travesty to have to see that misrepresentation.

Why can't the SE kills be retroactive again?

#900604 Game Update v2.51

Posted by sweetlou on 13 November 2014 - 23:27

Why not a compromise?

Seems a lot of SE hunters are upset with the top 250 list and I can kinda see why. I can also understand the starting on equal footing bit, as it gives new SE hunters a chance to make a list.

With the guild top 250, there is the option to see the current list, and then the default list of locked xp

Maybe the SE top 250 list can be the same?

That way the SE hunters who have been hunting for years can still see how they measure up against each other.

Side note: The SE tally on the profile is VERY downheartening, imo. Would be uber happy just to see it removed.

Thanks cows for the update !

Leave the top rated SE kill list as is, I don't have to go to it. But please take the kill list off my profile. It's something I have to look at daily, constantly, knowing full well it is a gross misrepresentation of the facts. It's a fair compromise...

One final question: why couldn't the kill count be retroactive? Is the data not available?

#900517 Game Update v2.51

Posted by sweetlou on 13 November 2014 - 19:56

i have Ruby SE medal...and 0 SE kill :))

I'm at Crystal. Why doesn't HCS reset all top lists? Sorry but this is a terrible representation of what players have achieved long and hard. It makes SE killers second class characters compared to those that have had their top lists for a while.

#900466 Dominance Has Stopped being Recognized For Some

Posted by sweetlou on 13 November 2014 - 17:48

How can you be dominant if you haven't done anything, please keep it as it is, to gain something you should earn it. The fact you are earning pvp tokens for doing nothing is both a fallacy and devalues these tokens even further.

I beg your pardon. Why am I not dominant if I sit alone on a Ladder and nobody is willing to play? Isn't that the definition of dominance? ANYONE can join but choose not to for whatever reason. That is NOT my fault, but my dominance, sir! And yes I could care less about the currently worthless tokens.

#900452 Game Update v2.51

Posted by sweetlou on 13 November 2014 - 17:40

it will be a new medal for top SE killers?

No. We all get to start all over in regards to the kill # on profiles which I think is bogus considering the amount of work players have put into SE killing!
