#941704 PvP Season Update Completed

Posted by yotwehc on 28 July 2015 - 02:06

With the opt out, have at it. Make seasons however you want it. The problem is consensus. You have folks like EP the plays all aspects and you have folks like you that does one aspect. I think hcs's goal was to get everyone involved and I think it might have worked had they put the xp loss out of it from the get go. All water under the bridge now. I see no reason why pvprs should have full control of how seasons work with xp loss and all the other goodies you want but can you have consensus? EP wants other folks to get involved, you don't. Who's right? I'll stay out of seasons until it stabilizes. Things are changing too much.

Oh. And have to add... Seasons was supposed to be for everyone. That was hcs's initial intent. No where have they said it is for pvprs and pvprs only.

HEY !!!

Big Big +1 +1 +1

Thanx for implementing the Opt out .... now is not a bad idea to BRING BACK THE XP loss to the PvP Season like PvPers wanted so much ....

#920931 What DON'T you like about PvP?

Posted by BadPenny on 21 February 2015 - 03:11

I understand that part, Raku, but, that's just a straight win button, I don't play a game to just steam through it, I want to take a bite out of something.  The loss of XP is nothing, even the damage from a 100 stam hit can be repaired in minutes,  XP included, and it's part of the game, just an obstacle in your path.  A "you come to a crossroads and are struck by bandits" scenario... what do you do now?  It's just part of the game to me, and I'm not trying to hurt anyone, I'm just playing bandit because Hoof designed the game for me to do it.  It's what I pay for, it's what I designed my character to do.  I respect the *leveler* for his angst, but it's a game, and you're just not supposed to take things all that seriously.   All this squabbling has gone on for far too long.   And in the end it's all up to Hoof, and I've seen him around these forums a bit lately, so I know he's listening.  Hoof is a genius.... he'll eventually think of something.... let's stop all these threads that launch flame fests and invite unsavory characters and concentrate on positive things, and let Hoof do it for a change.  Patience is key here, with the situation and with each other.

Nope, just a GAME to me, nothing more.

#920744 please extend pvp attack range

Posted by Rocknoor on 20 February 2015 - 09:30

You simply can't protect yourself, can you? You are exactly who PvP Protection has been introduced to protect. I feel sorry for you. So let's pretend your idea became reality. I would simply have to hit more times hurting your xp even more. Gold stealing percentages are abysmal to begin with. Hope of Master Thief kicking is the only bright spot. If you go offline with 5m, I'm going to hit you hourly until I get at least 4m of it, maybe in your case 4.75m :P

Again with the insults so I'll respond in kind. You have just proved my point about why the level should not be increased, it's not about PvP with you it's about punishment.  I said before that you are the posterchild for everything wrong with PvP and you continually prove it over and over. The majority of PvP'ers that I've met in the game are honorable and play by a code that they follow, your style of play however is why non-PvP'ers are adamantly opposed to any increase in broadening the range of  levels that can be attacked.  In this case you are your own worst enemy not me. As far as defending myself, you're right I can't because your kind strike when I'm off line, no buffs  and in stam gear...there is no viable defense for me  in that situation.

#919981 please extend pvp attack range

Posted by Raku on 16 February 2015 - 21:34

Why is everyone assuming the range increase is to hit those non-pvpers/levelers/what ever. Just say I want to have fun with someone else who pvps, but is 30, 40 or 50 levels higher than me? Am I supposed to ask them to wait for me to catch up to them? And like I said earlier, increased ranges could potentially increase bounty board activity (at least for a little bit).

I am not assuming by any means that the whole reason is to attack non-pvpers/levelers/whatever. I also don't think anyone would have a problem with you or anyone wanting to have fun with like-minded players regardless of the lvl difference. The problem comes from those wanting to attack non like-minded players for the wrong reasons. Increasing the range makes things easier for this to happen.

How about an opt in? Opt in and you get the expanded range. Opt out and stay at current +/-10

Posted by Pardoux on 13 February 2015 - 07:45

1. Folk slapping you on a prestige hit and then getting abusive / crying when you bounty them

2. PvP'rs that just attack those that are not of a like mind - pvp should be player vs player, both of which WANT to participate.

3. PvP's that hit folk with no gold on hand (or next to none) when there has been no provocation issued (and yes, despite protestations, it DOES happen) - i.e. targetted player has minimised the risks, but to no avail.

4. PvP's that hit someone and then when that person has the audacity to return a hit, calls a bounty and delevelling party.

If PvP is going to thrive again in the game then something needs to be done to stop so many players being p***ed off by it ..

I don't like the fact that pvp is almost never true pvp... usually 1 party is well prepared while the other is offline or unbuffed.

I would like some type of pvp where I can go test my skills with other willing participants and battle a bunch over a shorter time frame.. once per hour is boring and a waste of buffs..

I hate to sound like a pessimist but we have heard much talk about improvements..but that is all it has been is talk and no action..so many things that were started and never finished..ei karma / epic quest II..or addressed once and forgotten..like the second half of composing..all this talk sounds promising..but I have heard it too many times before..I guess we will wait another week to see..but my hopes have diminished from all the past promises..lets hope you can sway that aura looming of the game dying and get some things done ! good luck to you as there are a multitude of things to get accomplished..please make your timetables reasonable enough so you can complete on time as many of us here have gone through enough disappointments

#898712 A letter from your new Game Producer.

Posted by Mojawk on 07 November 2014 - 15:44

Hi all,

Many of you maybe know me, some of you don't. I'm John and I'm Studio Manager at Hunted Cow Studios. I've just finished work on our upcoming game 'Hell', and as such I'll now be taking over management of Fallen Sword development. I'm very keen to start working with BigGrim, Zorg and Hoof to figure out positive and important changes for the game moving forward.

I will be reviewing the roadmap and other forum threads next week and will endeavour to update you all with our revised plans for the future of the game. (Some slight changes to the roadmap may be required.) For those of you that know me, I have been working with another one of our communities in the Eldevin game for the past year, and I hope to work with all our Fallen Sword players to continue to grow and develop the game.

Sincerely
John Stewart

#898516 An Open Letter to the Fallensword team

Posted by DeadParrot on 06 November 2014 - 20:33

An Open Letter to the Fallensword team,

The following statement is long over due and with the current state of the game, is appropriate and timely. ...you ask, who do I think I am? I am a long time player (very long) who wishes the larger community to understand what has truly gone wrong with Fallensword, not just the edited and deleted version that is put forth.

The current state of the game is in disrepair. EoC players are leaving, few new players are entering the fray, and those that do, leave with shocking velocity. The forums are an uninviting place, reserved for the elite (who are lauded for their views, others not so much), and the complacent; for those who dare not question the higher-uppers for fear of retribution or the all-too-frequent bans. Those who thank their lucky stars for ANYTHING to be done is this game have low standards and encourage the game designers to meet those low standards. Numbers in this game have declined in recent years, this is no coincidence as administration of this game passed from Hoof to others. Additionally, ideas such as composing, have come from players, not from administration, begging the question, who is watching this game from on-high? We all know that Fallensword boasts the most loyal and consistent player base in HCS-dom, so why has this game been neglected for the likes of iOS games and Eldevin? The questions may not be answered, and frankly, players are not owed an answer. However, developers have the option of respecting their player base...or losing it forever. Here are my observations in the last few years:

  • The Fallensword team has transferred administration from Hoof to mere moderators as the team sits now....coding and updates are not a priority, shown by empirical evidence.

  • The game and forum moderators are combative and engage in personal attacks, they lack professionalism, which is not required of the customer, but is an advisable trait of an employee.

  • Punitive measures have no consistency and extent is determined based on the party who complains.

  • There are frequent implementation and grammatical errors in events in recent years.

  • The game is constantly being watered down and convoluted based on the views of the few, who are now becoming the majority as active player numbers dwindle.

  • The real money to ingame currency is shockingly expensive is relation to the FSP to gold exchange rate from the early renditions of this game. There is very little value for the money.

  • Players, as mentioned, are leaving in droves, myself included. The results of this post is of no consequence to my game play or character.  I am not seeking change or results.

  • The long range plans of the game are unclear, as evidenced by the constant slogging of leveling content, and re-hash of events; nothing truly changes. Each change seems patchwork.

  • Content and upgrade roadmaps are largely ignored or pushed off so far that deadlines have very little meaning, what message does this send to the remaining player base?

  • There are so many more issues, PvP, GvG, the vocal minority who continually steer the game, the pay-to-win gear system, Arena gear dominance, top guild titan dominance, scavenging (really??), the bounty board....and on and on. But the problems outlined above clearly indicate that the daily and periodic implementation of Fallen sword is faulty, broken, and clearly shows a lack of respect for the player base.

  • I care not to get into a game of semantics and minute detail.  Those who concern themselves with this are clouding the real core issues. I also don't welcome responses, as these items are not up for debate.  If you feel they are....again, you are clouding core issues.

Just because you disagree or are offended, doesn't mean you're right. You may not like the message or the messenger, but that doens't mean the message is flawed. So sad when a child doens't realize their obvious potential....

Good day, Fallen sword.

Signed

A former player

#894212 FINAL SOLUTION for BOTH parties

Posted by Olef on 13 October 2014 - 21:09

"the only logical and fair thing would be to make a vote in the game to know how many players are really for the xp loss / no xp loss system and most important to let the players know that a pvp change is being discussed, the community has the right to know what is going on and to give their opinion / vote"

What exactly should we vote on mate? XP loss being removed against XP loss staying and that's it? Or a whole raft of options? I would think the latter considering the threads, ideas and debate the "suggestion" of XP loss removal has generated. "Bullying" is the reason for the suggested removal, a term, like I have mentioned before, which seems to be bandied about a bit to freely, nonetheless bullying has been deemed an issue by HCS and therefore XP loss is either going or going to be radically changed. No voting, stomping of feet or yelling at the top of our voices is going to change this.

So a vote you say. What options would you suggest? As a direct vote and it's outcome for or against XP Loss removal would be meaningless. It IS going to change, no matter what.

Cheers.

wil72

if there is bullying then send a ticket to HCS and they will take action, same thing if someone sends you nasty messages or threatens you or unacceptable AVI or BIO

just because few people do bullying through pvp they want to change pvp?

same thing could happen if someone threatens you through PM in game, should they change PM too??? I doubt it

my pvp days were years ago, I lost 25+ levels on only 1 bounty, a friend lost 100+ leveles with only 3-4 bounties, there was no pvp protection, no xp lock, (I think there was no deflect at that time), open attack ranges, pvp and player activity was at its highest and I never heard anyone back then calling anyone "bully"

now after over 7 years after the updates "pulled most teeth" out of pvp a few players are screaming "bully" and they want to remove xp loss from the game, how does that make sense?

if you compare the 2 pvp environments: (7 years ago and now)

the pvp 7 years ago was "brutal" and HCS did not even say one time that they want to remove xp loss from the game, HCS even encouraged it and I still have Hoofmasters, Forns and even BigGrims (and other HCS staff) encouraging posts about pvp

the pvp we have now is much "softer" and now few players want to remove xp loss from the game but back then it was ok, makes no sense

#894086 FINAL SOLUTION for BOTH parties

Posted by suderlon on 13 October 2014 - 00:04

too many players (X times more than the few ones who want to remove XP LOSS) are for keeping XP LOSS and HCS should listen to the mayority (in the end it is the choice of HCS)

I work as a mechanic and I have to listen to my customers because without customers I would not get any money

the customer is KING

same applies to HCS, you can ignore us players and listen to the few but the consequence will be many unhappy customers leaving

#893678 'BLOOD' a possible idea for Grims intended removal of xp loss from pvp.

Posted by Grimwald on 10 October 2014 - 18:20

Edit :(just stating my pov off PvP in mixed games, so nothing too harsh or whining I hope).

I am one of those players who basically don't do PvP. I don't see any point in spending stamina here to get some gold, while having the risk of losing some levels. The few PvP hits I have done are when I was new in the game, and when somebody ws screaming in the ShoutBox "please hit me" :)

Most of the games, I play the same. I do them for an quest or so (and I tend to feel very sorry when I accidently KILL him/her) but thats it. Would I do that quest in Fallensword? Probably. Would I do an PvP event, well it depends on what i am going to get, must be really worthwhile. Some time ago, when the bashing-medal was introduced (PvP smasher) I was afraid it would kill the game for me, luckely it got tuned down pretty fast.

My biggest fear from the new changes in PvP is that there is nothing I can do to punish the attacker when he starts hitting me during my hunts. This new changes will protect my XP, but not my gold, so what will happen if somebody starts whacking me every few minuts during my hunts?? They say you can bank it, well I don't have unlimited bankdeposits. They say you can turn it into FSPs, yeah right, everyone is doing that so it takes a lot of time, sometimes. At this moment I can punish him by posting him on the BB and get some levels removed, well mostly his buddies take the bounty out, so its not really effective and it cost me MORE gold to place the bounty.. But still, i have the feeling I am doing something back. But if that is even taken away or he doesn't care for pvpxp??

I have worked hard to get to my current level, but if this change means I am going to be an soft gold-target during my hunts I will answer like I have did with ALL the other games, where I became the victim of an farmer and there is nothing I can do. It will be BYE BYE and see you around in my new game.
