#892679 A Titan, LEs and Caves, oh my!

Posted by Pardoux on 04 October 2014 - 03:01

Not if it was +4 since it makes no sense to have a 1925 item have better gains than a 2200 item. +6 is par for the course since we have a precedent set already.

I think it would have - given that it would have been the best currently available - or are you suggesting that any new shields / rings should automatically jumped in at +6 ?

(I hadn't realised that the nutcracker was +4 so a new ring I'd have suggested at +5, not +4)

To me, it makes sense to "equalize" gains across the boards on epics rather than have one going higher and higher gains whilst leaving everything else in the dust behind it.

(as for precedent, I think the terror helm shouldn't have happened either, until others caught up in gains ... )

Went with a helm because there was a helm gap in the available sets in that area. Could have gone Gloves or Boots but Helms can look REALLY cool.

You're not thinking like a player, Grim. The vast majority of epic use is for stam gain, so it doesn't matter what sets it complements.

When thinking of an item slot for a new high-level stam gain epic, I would suggest looking at the highest level stam gain item for each slot, and releasing a high-level item for the lowest of those numbers. Right now, the highest level stam gain epic for each slot is:

Gloves: Vine Tendril Gauntlets, lv 1200

Helm: Mask of Terror, lv 1600

Amulet: Choker of Time, lv 1925

Weapon: Krakaradon Tooth Harpoon, lv 1200

Armor: Dragon Draped Breastplate, lv 1101

Shield: Elemental Shields, lv 900

Ring: Nutcrackers Walnut Ring, lv 900

Boots: Dragon Draped Sabatons, lv 1101

Rune: Roach Rune of Epidemicus, lv  1200

Since the lowest number on that list is 900, the newest epics should take those slots. That would be either a shield or ring. Special mention to gloves because that's the only one of those that isn't a titan item. Aside: I would love to see high-level epics that aren't titan items, especially if they become the best available in their slot.

Amulet would have been the worst choice but helm was not far behind. Having the Mask of Terror be a helm was the worst slot to use for that one.

As for the artwork, it is a problem to illustrate a horrifying monster with a really wicked-looking ring or rune, I understand. Still, I don't believe it's a big enough issue to overcome everything else.

One fix would be to keep the current helm as is and introduce a recipe to transform it into a shield. The shield on that artwork looks pretty nice too. This would be similar to Dragonbane, where you put the item as an armor even though there was a glaring hole with boots (and we already had a +3 stam gain Ridged Legion Breastplate).

If you don't like the effect that has on the market, put a special flag on this new item that doesn't allow it to be saved with Inventor II, or instead of having a recipe for it, make a "swap shop" in the Cathedral of Ways where you can trade in one for the other.

Helm looks cool for new titan, but wish it was almost any other item tbh... 2 of the top 3 titans drop helms :(

Shield, boots, armor, ring all would have been great fillers.

#892070 Working Together in GE

Posted by Mister Doom on 30 September 2014 - 23:59

You don't have to find a 'good' map when you run a GE with AM500.

That being said, if you're in a overpopulated map while running AM500 you should probably move.

If you're in a remote map and randomly happen to come across a player, taking a second to check their buffs isn't unreasonable.

#889893 where did all the legendarys go ?

I think he's got a point BG - much as I'd love to see some new higher level LE's, the lower levels should still make appearances - if for no other reason than to encourage lower level players to hunt their own sets rather than be scalped in the AH ;)

Not making enough from the existing ones now ? ;)

#880300 A note from the FSH Developer

Posted by Yuuzhan on 22 July 2014 - 01:17

I want to open up by apologizing to the community.  I took on a large responsibility when I signed up to do development on FSH, and I can’t help but feeling that I have let you down.  I know many of you have come to rely on the features that have been provided by those who have donated their time to help improve this game.

However as many of you have learned, the demands on my time at home and at work have shifted dramatically.  I now have a 19 month old son who I love spending as much time as I can with.  As you can well imagine the focus of my free time has gone away from idle time I can spend coding.  On top of this, I have recently shifted jobs to a better paying, but more demanding job.  At my last job (before I became a father) I could spend much of my days programming FSH in between projects at work.  As we are a much smaller company I work most days, and then into the evenings after the little one is tucked into bed.

About a 6 months ago I had talked with Hoofmaster about starting a Kickstarter campaign.  We have always discussed the option of HCS hiring me officially to port all the FSH code into native Fallensword Code.  This option would have taken the financial burden off of HCS and allowed to community to really have a say in what they wanted ported over.

Alas, I could not start the campaign in good conscience knowing that it might be more than a year before all the work would be completed.  The only time I could really dedicate to the work would be off hours when the baby is sleeping – cutting into the precious time that I have to sleep or into the time that I could be spending with my son as he explores the world around him.

It is unfortunate that the other members of the FSH team have been burnt out over the years of maintaining the series of hacks that is FSH, or simply lost interest in the game itself.  I want to say that I really do enjoy programming FSH.  It makes me sad to see the string of messages that I get when HCS improves their code causing a section of FSH to break (or when GreaseMonkey updates causing all of FSH to break).

The blame for who is at fault has been thrown around from time to time.  Or comments to the effect of “Why don’t they just fix it” without the real knowledge of what it might take to do so.  If I am to be fully honest, the fact that I get more complaints then compliments (even when FSH was updating more often) does grate on my patience and willingness to devote time to the community.

To those of you who have offered thanks and appreciation along the way – it is your kind words that make me feel that I have let down the community.

What can we do?

Well I am still around, I just lack the time to develop all the fixes needed.  While I could pass the reigns onto someone else I feel that it would be breaching the trust that has been provided by the community to the FSH team in general.  I know of at least a dozen different occasions where a user has programmed a “FSH” feature and provided the code to those who have asked.  This code always contained malicious code that caused peoples accounts to be emptied of their possessions.

If there are member(s) of the community that feel they have what it takes to take up the mantle of FSH then by all means feel free to contact me.  I can implement fixes that are provided to me to maintain the integrity of the software until such time that I feel the trust of the community is behind the new developer.  This will allow me to put my eyes on each fix before it is implemented to ensure that there is no malicious code.

I have not given up on FSH, it is only a matter of free time available to devote to the code.

#877926 Daily, Weekly, Random Event Ideas..

Posted by RebornJedi on 09 July 2014 - 00:13

I'd like to see more events, be them small or big in the game.. I'm going to toss out some of my own and would like to see other players suggesting some of their own or improving other's.. I feel like this would promote more fun and activity in the game. Players would log in daily to see the new events..

Feel free to suggest new ones.. Let's get some ideas flowing!

*DAILY QUESTS*

Daily Quests.. Can have up to 5 (or another random number) quests within your daily log (will limit hoarding of dailies)

Kill a specific number of a certain creature type (normal champion, elite, super elite, or titan) or/and class (human, vermin, undead, dragon, greenskin, demon, golem, dwarf, feline, elf, avian, aquatic, plant, canine, reptile, beast, mechanical, mounted, or magical) within a specific number of levels from you..

Get a specific number of drops of a certain item from a creature within a specific number of levels from you -  by item type or/and rarity..

Complete a specific number of quests..

Visit a specific number of Realms..

Capture (or Pray - possible new feature?) at a specific number of Relics (really think we should start honoring these relics more)

Buy an item from a specific number of different shops..

Gain a specific number of PvP Prestige..

Steal a specific amount of gold..

Gain a specific amount of a specific fragment..

Cast a specific amount of buffs on different players..

Equip a specific amount of different sets/items..

Drink a specific amount of different potions..

Pray to one of the four Gods..

Win a specific amount of Arenas..

Craft a Perfect item..

Fully forge an item..

Post a message in the Shoutbox/FSBox..

Deposit a certain amount of gold into your bank or your guild's..

Sell/Buy a certain amount of FSP on the Market..

Invent a specific amount of potions or items..

Sell/Buy an item from the Auction House..

Purchase every different potion from the Potion Bazaar..

Something with medals..

... i'm just spew'n from random aspects.. dailies should vary in difficultly to allow more players to take part.. naturally some of the quests are going to be hard or maybe improbable due to level or other factors but when can just skip those and hopefully complete them when they come around again ..

Rewards for daily quests..

I've been thinking about certain rewards and systems..  Might as well get simple with it and just give out a certain % of XP .. 10% or more would be a great reward.. you could gain a level from 10 quests over the course of 10 days.. that would be an excellent and fun boost..

*UPDATED TEMPLE EVENTS*

The Temple could get an overhaul using these different events..

Sahria, Goddess of Fortune..

  • Increase to the gold dropped from creatures..
  • Half off gold needed to scout within the Scavenging caves..
  • Drop rate doubled for Champions, Elites, and Super Elites..
  • Higher drop rate for Resources and Scavenging drops..
  • Items take no damage, even crystalline..
  • Potion Bazaar prices are decreased..
  • Gold upgrade prices lowered..
Osverin, God of Wisdom..
  • XP gained from creatures raised..
  • Hourly XP gain is doubled..
  • Bonus Composing XP..
  • Quest XP increased..
  • 1st-5th place bonus TKP is doubled..
  • Relic stat bonuses max is doubled from 10% to 20% (maybe just 15%)
  • Mercenary stats doubled
Lindarsil, Goddess of Magic..
  • Potion durations are increased
  • Enhancements are maxed
  • Inventing chance is increased
  • Crafting %s are increased
  • Enchant all item slots with bonuses
  • Buff casted durations increased
  • Hell forge and Set bonuses increased
Gurgriss, God of War..
  • PvP prestige earned is doubled
  • Bonus to Arena Tokens earned
  • Gold stolen in PvP is increased
  • Stat bonus during bounty fights for the defender
  • Costs nothing to initiate a GvG
  • PvP Prestige buff level is doubled
  • Save half the stamina used for attacking another player
.. was trying to get 7 for each god so there could be one every day of the week.. randomly selected from the pool.. i guess it wouldn't hurt, but would actually be better to have more for each god..

could have it where you prey to a certain god to get that bonus.. or just have the gods bless everyone..
..cleaned up this post and added some of my ideas further in the thread for some thought spinners for Hoof's thread on a new competitive event system - https://forums.hunte...5-daily-events/

Post your ideas in that thread as well or if not here then definitely there..

#876320 suggestions for pricing arena store

Posted by podfog on 28 June 2014 - 12:50

I would like to suggest increase Token/Gold rate 4k seems too low... we used to play arena with  200k-500k gold rewards

It would help players to join arena if its worth changing tokens for gold

Definitely agree...I think the Token/Gold rate is too low as well.

One thing you have to realize though, is that HCS is unwilling to make the total token's worth output exceed the amount of gold input. To HCS, the arena is probably one of the biggest gold sinks out there. Ex: 8 token arena for 8 players, 10K arena cost, 8 to winner, 4 to runner up, 2 to the 3rd and 4th. Thats 16 tokens total, which is 64K gold's equivalent. HCS takes in 80K. The tradeoff to the runner up system is that no one person really earns much higher than the entrance fee, unless HCS decides to give out more than it receives in the arena.

#875133 FSH - Ban, or Not ?

Posted by evilbry on 24 June 2014 - 04:27

some food for thought. (though some examples will come from my line of work as a developer)

A script, by broad definition, is a mechanism to reduce keystrokes or other manual tasks.

some examples,

- to periodically check to see if a state has changed, think along the lines of is there more or less gold in my bank (or a nefarious version, has a titan moved it's location)

- to update or modify a value/entry, such as to perform a bank deposit. (or to move to a square with a titan on it)

- to perform a common task to reduce the time/effort involved, such as how FSH allows you to extract all of a resource (or to attack a titan with a set time delay).

Detecting scripts is not always going to be easy.

lets look at some of the ways a script can be detected.

- The script performs an action many times in a short period in a regular pattern.

- The script creates a large load (resource wise) on the system.

- The script is used excessively to the point it's obvious it's being used.

- The script is not coded well and causes regular/unique errors that can be picked up by the devs.

- The Devs get their hands on the script.

The thing is though, when a script is created, usually, the person creating it is careful. A script can have variation between actions so it's not carried out with the same time delays. It can vary actions inbetween tasks, so as not to follow the same routine each time.

It then comes down to the cows to try to determine which is human input vs which is scripted.

Can scripts be eliminated?

Not really. even moving from a browser based interface to an application, would just change the way and tools that scripters interface with the program.

What can HCS do?

Realistically they are doing more or less everything they can at the moment. The only real way to stop a script from being used, is to remove it's profit source or it's advantage.

There's been some examples of this with changes that have been done in the past. If there's nothing to be gained from running the nefarious scripts, then there's no reason to run them. Just keep in mind, that some changes may make the game a little less user friendly, to stop some of the scripts.

If there's some form of scripting you believe is occurring, raise a support ticket with what information you can.

At the end of the day, HCS is just a small indie company, who do a pretty good job for their size. Many people are used to the big behemoths in the entertainment industry who throw masses of resources and can make significant changes much quicker.

#875931 Arena Update #2 v2.48

Posted by justinian9 on 26 June 2014 - 20:22

Shindrak:  But what does that fix?  The only way to fix is to remove every ones tokens and start over.  Or issue a new token moving forward and devalue the ones earned to 1/60 the value of the new ones. Maybe even 1/100 judging by he amount some have accumulated

#875824 Arena Update v2.48

Posted by yodamus on 26 June 2014 - 11:51

i have heard from other players that i sent this message to when discussing the arena update yesterday - that this is a nice way to put how i feel about the horrible arena update and why it is so bad..this is feedback..please read hoof- another point that is missed in all this messis that the fun of arena is gone with this new system..fun was paying 20k and sometimes (tho rarely) winning a prize like brewers artpot or twinkles toes pot or some other high valued prize...and sell it for 25-50 fsps to do an upgrade on my character..i would literally be jumping up and down with joy..that is how i got addicted to arena....winning tokens to eventually buy something is not even close to the same fun...and now i will have to win many token tourneys just to buy one of those pots ( i am guessing they will make them a few hundred tokens when they come to thier senses), therefore having to spend much much more in tourneys fees to get the same pot i used to be able to win for 20k..that is where the epic failure comes to mind- took the fun right out of arena..

i am sure page 1 post 1 of shindrak's arena token thread did not envision this would be how it is done, tokens were to supplement the prizes, not be the prizes, and they were to be given to those that would win a round or 2, but not the finals, to help encourage more players to try arena..i see none of that with this new system..hopefully i will wake up and realize this is just a bad dream... cows please read page 1 post 1 of shindraks arena token thread..thx for listening

#875163 Possible Temple Reward Changed to Stam Reward Poll

Posted by yghorbeviahn on 24 June 2014 - 07:31

I should say add a Stamina God, and a Loyalty Points God, and change one of the useless for Potion only.

That way we will have

-Gold
-Gear
-Potion
-Stamina
-Loyalty
