#148663 Feedback - General

Posted by Skallagrime on 31 July 2010 - 01:41

Feedback - skallagrim - 7/30/2010/9:40 pm - friday

1 There is a dearth of new creatures that are actually worthwile to hunt, releaseing creatures with 1 million more exp for +10K ac +20 K def/atk, 2 million more hp, that’s not an update, that’s bloat

2 lack of cohesive quest-building/creature adding, it seems the theme is to simply say, oh I'll make ____ and make it obscenely not worth-while to do the quest, OR make one-off quick to do quests that yeild rewards that are very good, but in thr process add 5 new creatures, 3 of which were bloat, 2 of which dropped the items

The fix
1a when releasing new creatures, take a look at your database, see what people really are hunting for exp, ask why and then you will have a better ground for 1b

1b develop a "standard" by which YOU think players ought to have x amount dmg/wisd, ac/def/hp, atk
if YOU don’t say "generally by level XXX a warrior should look like _____" then you have NO way of building creatures which will be a challenge, you are essentially stuck with saying "this is a warrior creature… I'll give it 20K more defense than the last creature I made, thats a challenge" which incidentally is bunk

2a More questLINES/upgrades, self explanatory

2b consolidation of outdated material into your new quests, theres even "useless" quest items that arent linked to ANYTHING, why not use those instead of making 10 new creatures and 5 new drops for the next quest?

2c creature building - there are 5 basic types of creatures out there, invasion, warrior, mage, Miner1, miner2/pvp warrior creatures

invasion creatures - they drop the best stuff whatever it is but not so good that people would be absolutely crippled if they didn’t have them

warrior - defense in line with levels you want warriors atk at that point, ac seems arbitrary at the moment, but I personally believe that ac should equal the level of the creature, ie target for a 25K warrior to hunt, ac = 25,000 atk, big enough that warriors building defense could beat it, but generally bigger than any warrior's def, resistances high

mage - atk in line with levels you want mages def at that point, dmg, enough to make a mage build hp as a secondary defense when they DO get hit but not so much that they will die period if they do get hit, i'd say about 1/3rd the hp of the mage in question that "should" be hunting them (about one hit per 50 casts as I have expereinced it) resistances up and down based on creature total hp, try to target between 10-100 ap/kill for the target mage though, less ap = less wisdom built, more than 100 ap per kill, you'll have people just pop doubler, vial up and burn 30K ap in an hour and then quit for a month because it was too boring to get to 100K in 5 hours (toe the line between boring people and making it frustrating to play)

Miner1 - the mage - a clone of the mage creature EXCEPT sky-high atk and def - the hp and resistances lower than the mage of same level and dmg a little higher, bear in mind this is a miner who will have far less damage(wisdom) than a "normal mage" the miner-mage focuses on ac to keep them alive, but uses spells to kill, this reserves the creature for a miner by lowering warrior and mage capability/effectivity to hunt them, whilst making the exp still relatively in line with the exp:ap that warriors and mages CAN get

miner2(pvp warrior) - the warrior - a clone of the warrior creature EXCEPT capped resistances, enchanted armour slightly lower ac, dmg about 1/3rd the hp of a miner in question (per that level of creature) and enough atk to make warriors think twice, while allowing a miner to take them on via defense, this eliminates mage effectivity on them while opening the door to pvp warriors that have made the dmg cut to boost hp still effective levelers

Best suggestion of all....... Actually implement any of these suggestions that were asked for in the first place. !!

#832340 Upcoming Updates: What would you like to see next?

Posted by FrankNStien on 18 December 2013 - 18:51

I also have been out of the game for over 2 yrs. I've had depression (medicated) for at least 15 yrs, but, on being told my cancer had turned aggressive and was now terminal - I hit a DEEP low (wasnt helped by 6-8 other chronic problems).

The last 3 times I subbed a char for 30 days. on 2 of those occasions I never played it at all, and on the other 1 I played for about 1 hr.

IDEAS (supplemental)

YES - Raiders, BUT, most of what they carry isn't of any further use. How come the raiders still have stocks of Stuff from critters who haven't invaded in yrs, BUT, don't have stocks from new critters who do invade.

New quests

About 3 yrs ago I did a comprehensive suggestion about Advanced+ skills. Some where extensions to existing skills, others were new. We NEED those skills to use out excess points. Such skills would be level Dependant, maybe Limited to 5th Tier. Maybe also a quest B4 they can be used. Some skills would be extensions on existing skills, BUT, would require the existing Skill be maxed B4 they could be used.

A new cult quest, BUT like personal quests it should have a minimum level. Having just checked the top cults list - the top 10 (probably all cults whose CS didn't get scrapped along with all the Cult XP), a minimum level of 10K would be a good start, or maybe 15 or 20K. MUCH harder to reach.

As a reward we could have our own Cleric

For a 2nd cult quest we could get our own shop - BUT - as each shop has different stuff and you have to travel to them, having a "general Store" in the CS would be silly. What I suggest is we have a "Pawn Shop". That is, we cannot buy at the shop, but we can sell excess inventory to save having to go outside to do it.

New items, using new mixers or metals.

We NEED something between the top 2 metals. the jump is enormous. Peeps have been asking 4 this 4 yrs.

I understand you have BRONZE ore/metal in one or more other games and that the excuse is that ores have melted together. Therefore Braskin (tell him to put the realms in as well :-) ) could be the home for such ore/metal.

2-3 yrs ago I documented better Mana (tell hoof to put Mana in the spell checker) and Health potions. 10K is nowt these days when viled some have over a million MP and hundreds of thousands of HP (and can lose over 100K in 1 go).

#830223 New Creature Pickers

Posted by marjin on 13 December 2013 - 16:15

Replaced the Creature selector with version 1.01, containing all the drops.

Added a Hurt creature selector and a complete Quest list containing links to Gothaguide or own list.

Posted by Mekare on 20 November 2013 - 15:30

I agree about needing somewhere to find information.  Gothaguide still works to a point but not for everything.  It's important for the continuation of the game that players have somewhere to find the locations and information they need.

I'd love to see old invasions come back.  Maybe put something new in them like a new item or new creature.  New quests would be nice but without somewhere to find information, they can be a pain in the arse.

Please fix the bugs and glitches before adding anything major.

If you really are going to start adding things on a consistant basis, then maybe an email update to people would bring some back.. some have been waiting on Gothador to get some attention.

:D

Have a look at the long long ignored lists of bugs and suggestions from before the merger.

And include the fifth tiers in ALL the lists of Gothador Greatests .

Most of all: Documentation, Documentation and Documentation like BOW or Gothguide as you seem to do in all other games.

I still think the development roadmap idea would be great,  it gives you guys a list of issues to reference and try to prioritize for the game and  it gives the  player base an idea of what if anything you guys are working on and let's us have a vague sense of direction with things. It helps us have some  idea of  what is being worked on and when we can see it in the game if at all.

Plus it gives us a list where we can let you guys know what WE think is the most needed which helps the  players feel listened to and happy. Happy customers = more players, more players = happy cows :)

Show the level requirements on item in game you can buy. For example :  You find an item on the TN that looks super, you really want it and buy the item. As soon as it hits your inventory though, you notice you need to be a specific level way above what you are.  If you could see the required level for the item before you buy it .. You may not have, or at least not yet and you would have gotten something you could use at the moment.  This is something the game has been able to use for years.

#822495 New Creature Pickers

Posted by marjin on 26 November 2013 - 15:55

Some time ago Tamrath created a creature picker and sent it by email to anyone who wanted it. It stopped at version 2.58.

I took the creature sheet out of it and rebuild it to a new creature selector that does not pretend to do all the work concerning how your stats are obtained.

Years ago there was a spreadsheedt called Gothador Tracker where you could fill in all your stats and so on so you could see what the effect was of a vial or other equipment.

I have upgraded it with all of the new stuff as far as I know, including 5th tier.

These files I put on my gdrive, downloadable for everyone. Addition: Also Mining, Smelting, Orbing table.

You can find them here:

https://drive.google...LTg&usp=sharing

Use them as you like, if I missed something, tell me and I will update them.

In the future, I may upload more usefull information.

#140200 Guide to Power Leveling Wisdom and Casting XP

Posted by blacqmath on 27 March 2009 - 04:28

This is an advanced guide on sorcery and creating the cast with the most casting xp possible. If you have any input on how to gain more casting xp, all points welcome.

1. Gear.

Getting your gear right for this means first getting the skill set right. There are many skills that effect Sorcery so it is important to have the right ones and to not have certain ones.

-Skills to have:
Mana Conserve (+,++,+++,Elite)
Inner Wisdom

-Skills not to have:
Overcharge - Adds unwanted damage. More hits = more casting xp
Sorcery Mastery (+,++) - Reduces MP use and casting xp.

-Mana Surge would be great to disable, but it's on the Molten Mana Beam vials so you are stuck with it.
-Worldly (+,++) adds unwanted damage, but in any other circumstance I'd want it and you can't unslot it unless you have Artificer, so I just leave it.

Then equip everything you have with max wisdom bonus. This is not for damage, but for getting the most MP availible for your spell. I like this set for wisdom. Correct skill set and +1805 in bonuses.

Weapon
*Zaahar Mastermind Psychic Mandiblade +102, Mana Conserve (+,++,+++)
Armour
*Mystical Reinforced Carapace +90, Mana Conserve, Inner Wisdom
Ring
*Wyvern Feather Greater Ring of Mysta +165
*Wyvern Feather Ring of Mysta +105
*Wyvern Feather Ring of Zoraptera +175
*Wyvern Feather Shadow Ring +85
Amulet
*Wyvern Feather Amulet of Searing +255
*Wyvern Feather Enhanced Omniaurae Amulet +145
*Wyvern Feather Omniaurae Amulet +205
Shield
*Zaahar Flamelord Zaahar Deflector +25 Mana Conserve (+, Elite)
Rune
*Wyvern Feather Cerebral Rune + 80
*Wyvern Feather Arkylite Rune +88
*Wyvern Feather Veriduxas Rune +30
Trinket
*Aldlore Trinket +100
*Elvsar Trinket +30
*Trinket of Conuise +60
*Trinket of Ghalek +25
Idol
*Lucky Charm Idol +40
*Lucky The Trophy

2. Vials and boosts.

-Drink a Molten Mana Beam vial. Since you are going for spell casting xp, you don't want the damage that the hunting vials give. MMB is the biggest MP boosting vial at 4200% and gives a nice AP boost for the cause.
-Activate any class skills you have like Demonic Possession or Angelic Shield.
-Find a miner to boost you up with a Doubler and a Mage Enchant.
-Charge up your HP, MP, and fill up your AP bar as high as you want it with bound USPs.

3. The Hunt.
.
-Go find a Scythe Tyrant in the Cursed Lands. These guys have huge HP (17 mil+) and have a 98% resistance to Dark Magic.
-Create a Dark Magic Sorcery spell with maximum MP usage for a Cast Chance of 50%.
-Let him have it...

You gained 105603264 Hellfire casting exp. (x2 Mage Class Bonus)

105,603,264 casting exp is sick. That's on the high end for the cast. That's about 1000 AP, 3.5 mil MP, and 6 Wisdom levels for me. If you could increase your MP even further, more would be possible until the Scythe Tyrant is dead.
