#817806 [In Development] Allow camera angle to reach 0 degrees

Posted by Neon on 28 October 2013 - 23:25

Pretty lame answer.  Why bother writing a computer game if you're not able to comprehend performance and efficiency issues?

They have comprehended the 'performance and efficiency issues'. They achieved this with the current way the camera angle is, which allows for good performance for everybody.

I'm not going to go to in-depth here as it's clear your reply was written with hostility and little knowledge.

Someone said that the game is written in Java. So, I suppose using that language comes with restrictions we are not use to in games with a client version.

About 2 or 3 months ago they did increase the viewing angle by something like 5 or 10 degrees. The game is a lot more friendly in that respect than it use to be. However, there have been a number of issues with graphic studdering due to too many objects on screen, so I can understand why they would not want to increase the viewing area any more.

As Comrade says they have undergone camera changes with the addition of a few degrees, and finally the resolution and full-screen changes which allow for more immersed game play.

Go design a board game (not you, little dear; I mean the programmers on this project).

No words can describe how stupid this statement is.

#816484 Haste rebalance

Posted by Sirio on 16 October 2013 - 06:09

Well young man, we can return to some less polite communication model any time, if you intend that much .

No thank you. I take your remark about age as an attempt to insult me within the forum rules, I'd love to be again at the age people could call me that. HCS staff must be very puzzled seeing my birth date on my account and I am not a day younger than it suggests. I don't really want to talk about my private matters here and I can only say I'm not an old man either if you ever come up with the idea of calling me that.

why would you suggest cutting my poor Templars chances for survival?
Who knows.... do you, yourself... by the way?

You clearly don't understand the attached plot. Templars would be actually strengthened as with low haste rating you would get more haste % than right now. This is the part of the plot before green and red cross. Only really high haste rating would make it harder to get even more cooldown reduction.

Still, hope to hear some explanation on simple question:

Why would you like to nerf all classes, keeping in mind that its just Mages\partially Rangers\Assasins?

Same answer as above, read the plot again. Since most of your following argumentation is based on a wrong understanding of it I'll just skip it.

I suggest you make a deeper practical study of pvp mechanics before giving away fantasies about abstract players willing to rule with their abstract favorite class characters.

I have quite enough of practical study of pvp, thank you. I still remember a battleground pvp with the devs with you in the same team, you got 3rd place in our team, and protested here on the forums why with having more kills than assists the system didnt reward you with more valour than 2nd place Alpion who got much more assists and slightly less kills while most of the time you were just waiting for an occasion to ks. You must have forgotten I was the one who was at the top of the score table with quite a big margin doing not only killing job but also healing (though SHUTTLER had bad luck of not receiving much and complained later).
There was another match with you being able to tie for the 1st place after the devs on the opposite team left and you had a great time spawnkilling lvl 1x Soulshunter who was the only one left. I wonder if he still remembers how did he feel. By the way, you were using a vanity set at that time and we were not.

Now, young man lets see.... speaking honest i lost the count to character resets... and cant say whats my favorite class... Perhaps Assasin. Still i see you all same. Only basing on that i cant accept you idea without any critical study.

Again HCS staff must be very puzzled as they can see my account, lvl 40 alts I have and the full terenul rosu sets on them. Many people know me switching chars if there is a role in the party that needs to be covered and this means every possible role in a party.
I also levelled up all my lvl 40 characters without using debug item even once, went through every quest with different classes (at least 1 of each melee, ranged, sorcery based) and have my crafting skills on one char high enough to equip all lvl 40's with equipment they may need.
I'm sorry this looks like bragging but you really terribly missed suggesting I have no experience.

Its just i do not trust you and your experience (as you do not trust mine, telling im ruining the game [...]

I have seen short-lived threads here about you that had to be removed quickly and I don't see many good testers in the game anymore because of you. I just hope people don't take you seriously and no more will leave.

As for how I trust your experience, your remark in the other thread at a warrior being unable to beat a ranger in a duel I have to say you never pvped using either warrior or ranger or both. There are few capable warriors out there that can show you how defenseless is a ranger against a warrior and if you can't find one I'm more than happy to be this warrior myself. As you claim you used numerous respecs and tried every build I trust you will be able to come with a ranger of your own.
I'd be also happy to show up with my overhasted char, probably hybrid mage/healer to show what I mean by high haste breaking the balance, which is all this thread is about.

#816216 Haste rebalance

Posted by Sirio on 14 October 2013 - 00:02

I am talking about haste above 66% being a very serious balance problem and you say mages should be let having 90-95% haste? This is just ridiculous. Having a healer myself with a few points in mage I already know I am heavily overhasted with just 70% haste I get with vanity set taken off and without haste increasing weapons. This is at lvl 40 and there are still levels to come. With haste system at its current state all other balance issues seem completely unimportant. Why take -x to cooldown talents if the skills are already spammable? Why put 2 min cooldown on dragonbreath if you can continualy cast one after another just like every other spell? There is a reason why ignite has longer cooldown, there is a reason why cauterize has longer cooldown and many others. All high multiplier spells should never become spammable.

Your view on the balance is just a classic example of "my char should be strengthened and all other should be nerfed and I have problems with rangers so look into rangers". I think your goal is to ruin this game both with your attitude towards other people and your tries to make the game not fun to play for a wide audience. It makes me really sad it was you that answered this thread.

Rare pure Warrior here, none of that mongrel cross breeding here thank you very much ;)

#815143 remove the "blue dot"

Posted by rowbet on 06 October 2013 - 12:34

I'm a fan of the blue dot (though I'd call it purple). I'd hate to see it go. The world is sufficiently complex that, for many quests (particularly those that walk you over many maps) I would have given up long ago. I could see some value in having some quests that weren't so directed, but the text would need to become much clearer than it is at present.

There also needs to be some recognition of the difference in difficulty for those who play all the time vs those who play more spasmodically. The latter don't get so familiar with the maps and so would find the quests much harder without the purple dots to guide them.

And, as ever, you can choose to ignore the dots if you wish to - but you can't choose to use them if they aren't there. Perhaps the best solution is an option to switch them off. The each player can play in the way they find most enjoyable.

You can sort of do this in ottos house, lol.

Not really a quest though...

#814684 Trenul Rosu, needs difficulty increase.

Posted by Mojawk on 03 October 2013 - 13:17

I think we're happy with the difficulty of the mid-game dungeons, there may be some tweaks and changes to the lower content. However 45 is the beginning of our "end-game" for the first release so expect the 2 dungeons coming at 45 to be a bit harder. The final update 45-50 will include 3 dungeons which some fairly challenging mechanics.

I've also attached a small previous of the loading screens for both the 45 dungeons thanks to Phurie-dae.

#814182 Looters... AND POLLUTERS!

Posted by Mongo on 01 October 2013 - 12:17

Ok jokes aside  :P

I personally think there needs to be a careful balance.

Players who like a challenge, should have things in place to challenge them...dungeons, PvP realms, Hordes etc. (some may need tweaking to make them a real challenge).

Players who just want to play for fun, without having to think about things too much should also be able to enjoy themselves too!

#813551 Trenul Rosu, needs difficulty increase.

Posted by Alpion on 27 September 2013 - 10:54

Let's not go crazy here.  Remember, we're wearing better gear than we'll be getting when the game goes live.  We won't have full crafted level 30 sets to wear.  Getting the level 35 sets from To3 aren't going to be as easy as it is now.  TR isn't "hard", but it still takes a while with the gear we have.  It's more of a stamina dungeon, needing a lot of DPS to do in a decent time.

We do NOT need an increase in difficulty just yet.  Besides...we have to run the instance 50-60 times to get the full set.  I haven't timed a run yet, but I'm guessing 30 minutes minimum.  That's still 25+ hours of the same instance just to get that set.  For normal players that only have 2-3 hours a day to play, that's a daunting task.

I feel that you're trying to set this game for the elite players and not thinking about casual players at all.  I don't like things easy, but if you just keep making everything TOO difficult, there isn't enough fun for the masses and you'll end up with just a handful of hardcore gamers left.  That's not what we want.

Maybe you just need to go spend some time in Trial of Champions.

And no, not just "any" gear gets you through TR.  You still need decent gear and a LOT of DPS.  Normal gear isn't going to cut it unless you want to spend an hour or more in there.

It would take skill, not only that but would encourage maturity and bring about a generally intelligent player-base.

This type of feature really seperates the men from the boys. In essence, "Would you like some cheese with that whine..?"

I'd love to see some heavy-scale PvP introduced to this game by the time I get the chance to play it.

Any thoughts?

I am immature, unintelligent, have no skill and dislike PvP.

Am I still allowed to play and enjoy this game please?  :P

#813894 Talent Feedback / Suggestions

The community plays the game the way it is is designed with lots of individual quests and content, some group instances.  Neither good, nor bad, just the way it is...

#813314 Friends list improvements

Posted by ernzor on 26 September 2013 - 05:22

1. Can we please make it bigger. Either increase everyones, or give us an item in the mystic market to purchase (multiple of) to increase it.

2. People have asked for the main character names to be shown either before or after alternate character names. Rather than doing that can we have the option to add some text either before or after someones name as an identifier. This way we can know who the characters are alts of if they tell us, and people can continue being anonymous if they want to.

3. Can we have a mouse over with info like, level, location, build type (like the one you get shown when joining a dungeon) etc.

4. Did I say make it bigger?

#813446 Talent Feedback / Suggestions

Posted by Irradiated on 26 September 2013 - 17:23

Speaking from the viewpoint of a ranger who needs more mana, I believe the nerf went to far on 'fountain of mana'.  The amount of gain is almost pointless.  Better to just kill things faster and brew more potions.

Perhaps a compromise.  Say 15/30% for the increase?

Envenom MUCH overpowered.

Speaking in terms of PvE, I strongly disagree.  They are approaching an excellent balance and this would throw it off.  BB is for the initial pull and for boss fights.

But even in PvP, you can't look at just the one spell.  Envenom is a prime spell for the ranger, not so bloodbath and mage.  We can't go down the route of homogenize all the classes.  I would love a cauterize type spell and some mana regen for my ranger.  And we can up the black fang dps to match incinerate.  But each class must have unique abilities, or there's no point in playing different classes.

What we're beginning to see is the tug of war between PvP and PvE balance issues.  I have never seen an MMO truly balance both with one set of talents and rules.  Unless you're willing to settle for boring, homogenized classes or very unbalanced classes in PvE, PvP will never truly balance.  The best you can hope to achieve is a 'rock/paper/scissors', where each class is better then some and not as good as others (which can work very well in team play).

If HCS truly wants to balance both, here are two methods I've seen successfully used.

1)  Special PvP talents/skills.  A specialized build with a different action bar(s) for PvP required.  But these talents can be used to change to balance for PvP without effecting PvE.

2)  Different rules for certain talents/skills.  The same abilities have different effects depending whether your opponent is AI or human.  Can be true for both offensive and defensive spells.

But all this will take time and a huge effort.  While I plan to enjoy the occasional team PvP, my vote would be to concentrate effort on completing all aspects of the PvE game as higher priority.

#813386 Some useless Skills review. Perhaps its not that hard to tune them a bit.

Posted by Anakiro on 26 September 2013 - 13:30

Perhaps paying some attention to post DATE and content, would help.

It's only been 4 days since BigGrim's post. I'd say it's still a fairly recent thread. :)

As for content, they're responding to something you stated in your first post. That you feel Ignite is useless.

Don't be so quick to admonish those who are trying to contribute. :(
