#978634 It's about time to balance out those overpowered pots in PvP.

But if some say it's to easy and some say it's to hard doesn't that then cancel out the argument, a stalemate if you will. With the conclusion that "composing" pots should be left as is? But like you say mate, it's up to the cows.

Cheers.

PVP has always been about having a combination of the best level skills and pots. It also is about having an understanding of what type of gear to wear with the buffs you have cast. Some buffs hurt 1 set and help another.

What has happened over the years is the pots have steadily increased in level, but the castable buffs have remained stagnant. This can be looked at as a good or bad thing based on how you play the game.

If your a player who was used to selling buffs or being self sufficient all the time the increase in pots level makes it harder to be competitive.

If your a merchant or composer this gives you an outlet to be active in the game and sell potions.

People used to buy buffs all the time when they pvped, now they have to buy potions instead (which is more expensive) but at the same time is just different and requires adaptation.

Adaptation is the key to being successful in pvp, as your constantly adjusting to different stats and setups.

There are all sorts of pots out there that are comparable or better than composing buffs, composing pots have just become almost the same as castable buffs on the easy to buy them and the ability to constantly make them.

As I started this post I mentioned Castable buffs have remained the same max level for years, maybe its time some of them get a revamp on their max castable levels?

Obviously some should not go over 175 like (Treasure hunter, Merchant, Unbreakable, deflect, etc)

Some could use an increase in level like (Keen edge, Smashing hammer, CoA, CoD, Shield wall, Armor boost, Enchant Weapon, etc) Buffs that strictly increase stats.

This would also give people more options to use their skill points on. (I know I often sit with 100's of unassigned skill points as I see nothing to use them on)

This may or may not help with the complaining of overpowered skills... Though I have noticed some people will complain no matter what...

This part says a lot to me. You chose not to compose or use composing potions then complain when you can't beat someone who does. This is like complaining that I can't beat someone who uses buffs when I chose not to use them. Quit limiting yourselves.

That ladder screenshot you posted. I just looked and four people were sitting in epics. Five people weren't even buffed. You say Misstep is always buffed so it sounds to me like they are the only one making an effort. I bet if everyone else on the ladder made that same effort then it would look a bit different.

:)

you used epic skills to beat another player with epic skills, this is the same thing we keep saying

when I get attacked I always hit back but to beat your epic skills I have to use epic skills too, I am not a composer, I do not care about composing, I pvp but with my buffs at level 175 pvpers will never stand a chance against non pvpers with epic skills who try pvp for the first time, this does not seem right

The fact remains that it takes a lot of time, gold and frags to get your composing level up there.

The level of buffs you can get for such an irrelevant cost is disgusting

Irrelevant cost? Have you leveled your Composing? It has a VAST cost to level up!

I'm not suggesting we do this, but one option for 'overpowered' skills would be to give them a diminishing return. This would allow the potions levels etc. to remain unchanged and ensure that the higher levels are still more powerful, but not crazily powerful if you know what I mean? It would also open up to possibility of even higher level buffs of some skills where it would have made them too powerful previously.

This is purely an example, but something along the lines of this:

Sample Skill: +1 per point to attack up to skill level 250. After 250, +0.1 per point to attack.

Massive no!! Sorry I did not spend countless amounts of resources to become a level 60 composer to have my reward ruined or taken away by some who simply cannot fathom out how to circumvent these skills. Composing was not the issue it was giving ridiculously high buffs in potions from global events, which was then exacerbated by the frequency of the global events which allowed people to stockpile high numbers of these overpowered global potions. I myself have well over 70 of these global chests... I would use more if there were more things to use them on, the lack of content and the effect of overpowered potions means there is a constant issue regarding  things to do in the game...

#968543 PVP Seasons as a Global

Posted by Leos3000 on 10 September 2016 - 14:15

I had a lot of fun with this aspect of the game last year, and it was scraped, but was suppose to come back as a global. However The cows were not sure how to do this so it has been delayed.

I want to lay out a simple yet detailed way to get this aspect into the game.

1st and very importantly there has to be a new preference to Opt In/Out of these types of Globals (while I would like to see the whole community participate I realize some have no desire to and do not want to be forced to)

Next is the Format of the Global. These are the Parameters to put in place to make the global fun for all:

- Every attack will cost 50 stamina (with a new attack type Global)

-There will be a 5 min time limit in between attacks

-There would be a skip option at a cost of 50k gold. (skipping causes you to wait another 5 mins for an attack as it is treated as your 5 min interval for an attack)

-The Global should last a total of 1 week

-To keep the attack system simple you get +1 point for a win(attacking or defending) and -1 point for a loss

-Every attack will add 1 point towards the global total and count towards the players Global qualification

-No XP loss in these attacks

-There will be Gold and durability loss

-Seasons attacks are not Bountyable (thought about an auto bounty system, but want to keep it simple for now)

-Your opponent is choose by the system each time. The system chooses a player at random that is +/- 25 ranks of you in the Global.

To give more detail to the above parameter if you are currently ranked 50th in total points in the global your opponent will be anyone regardless of level who is between the ranks of 25 and 75 at the time of the attack. This keeps any single person from being farmed and means everyone has the same amount of targets to hit. It will probably also mean the higher you move up the ranks the more often you will have to defend an incoming attack.

-Since this is a Global for attacking the only buff that should not work is Deflect. As this buff would hinder the community from getting to the global totals.

Rewards:

All of the rewards are already in place in the game so this should be pretty simple for the cows.

-There would be 4 tiers to the global. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Crystal

-Each Global tier would be 10,000 attacks.

-Bronze @ 10,000

-Silver @ 20,000

-Gold @ 30,000

-Crystal @ 40,000

Individual Tiers to qualify would be:

-Bronze 50 attacks

-Silver 75 attacks

-Gold 100 attacks

-Crystal 150 attacks

Bronze gets the Bronze rank seasons chest

Silver gets the Silver  rank seasons chest

Gold gets the Gold  rank seasons chest

Crystal gets the Crystal  rank seasons chest.

Extras:

-Top 100. Place in the top 100 and get 1 extra Crystal Chest Also credit towards progress of top 100 global medal

-Top 20. Place in the top 20 and get progress towards the Tyranny medal (being ranked in the crystal league)

Top 1 or 1st in the event. Get credit towards the PVP mastery medal.

*With all of these in place I think we can have some great PVP gloabls and increase game activity

#966893 Double Composing XP XI!

Posted by BigGrim on 12 August 2016 - 10:22

Thank you BG. Need all the help I can get. A mediocre level 31 composing here. *sigh* :P

I'm merely level 26! I'm working my way up though. Gotta admit, the XP Events and having the Champion Pack helps. That extra composing slot is a godsend!

#966904 Idea to balance potions and buffs (PvP).

#966903 Idea to balance potions and buffs (PvP).

Posted by Pythia on 12 August 2016 - 14:49

I've been wondering about something.

If said potions are capped, and those that PvP carried on with it, what would that cap do to my potions if I were to get hit during a hunt?

Would my potions drop to the level of caped potions for that hit time?

That might have an adverse spin on my hunt and I could die, losing all the cannon fodder imps and my life too.

Not cool to me.

#966894 Ladder Potions Question

Posted by BigGrim on 12 August 2016 - 10:26

I seriously believe Hoof has been so busy running the Company he doesn't know what's going on. Meanwhile Grim has been busy cranking up the skill levels like he's feeding goldfish - they will keep eating until they die.

Actually, these are discussed between Hoofmaster and I when designed so please don't try any divisive comments or play a blame game.

#966832 Global Event Potions Question

Posted by BadPenny on 10 August 2016 - 04:58

The pots didn't kill PvP for me, it was the attitude people tend to have about it. I've always played the whole game until recently, but the whiny notes, the "it's ok if I hit you for prestige, but you better not farm me" type thing, those took the fun out of it. Now, I'm an active pillow fighter for SA, and tbh, I would rather have the challenges that beating a super pot user brings, rather than the humdrum boredom of swinging on somebody unbuffed in their epic gear. I just think it through and do my best. My track record is pretty good btw.

The thing is, most global pots are designed for leveling, and tbh, I don't see how they impact PvP that much. Granted, there are a handful of stat buffs from time to time, and maybe they do make it tougher, but I'd rather have to think than mindlessly swing away on the defenceless.

Just my 2 pennies.

#966165 Reward for attacker in GvG draws

Posted by Egami on 24 July 2016 - 22:16

The attacker receives RP for completing the full number of attacks.

"Also for each Guild that completes all attacks, 10/15/20 Guild RP is awarded for 50/75/100 attacks respectively."

This has been discussed at length. Personally, I don't feel attackers need further rewards.
