Hi all,
 
Further to our update on Mercenaries yesterday, we have now greatly increased their stats so they now apply an equivilant of 40% of their previous stats towards a combat. This was achieved by basically doubling their previous stats. So in essence they are still applying a 20% contribution towards the group stats, but since we have double the stats it is equivilent to it being roughly 40% of their old stats.
 
As well as this, we have added another two Mercenaries to the game:
 
Albs Guard (Level 1380 Champion)
Frozen Shadow Warrior (Level 1950 Champion)
 
We've also fixed the issue with the recently added Mercenaries images being too large compared to the others :)

Don't know if someones suggested this because I dont want to read several pages, i read a few/brief scan.

 

My suggestion (if no one has suggested) would be to temp remove titans for a random limited time, also add some new titans. Epics that can be obtained will gain value, they could come back every few months randomly switching and removing some current titans (at random) and putting the temp removed back into the game. Also seen some comments about removing cooldown. That would be dumb because of the big guilds dominating, epic begging for it i saw lol, give others a chance, if your guild is on to many cooldowns, then thats your guilds problem. This is to make the game more fair and fun. Also i saw something about a hell forging, seemed like a good idea, like gambling, the game is meant to have risks, the more sinks the better, the game is flooded with epics and most epics have dropped really low. Titan doubler has done some damage, the reason is because more are putting the effort in because it doesnt take so long. Also a suggestion i saw about nerfing titan doubler, just leave it as it is, who wants to spend hours titan hunting. I remember back in the day, it was like torture lol also some of us have jobs, we cant spend hours on end titan hunting. Even in a descent group it would take an easy hour minimum.

Care to explain why prices suddenly started to drop rapidly when CD came out and when TD came out then? If you can provide a valid argument i'll be forced to agree :)

 

Cooldown was a necessary component of the game. If all titans were owned by the same few groups, which they were in the beginning, those groups can collude to keep prices high. I think you're forgetting a few key pieces of economics.. supply and demand.

 

The cool-down allowed other guilds to join in the spoils of titans. Other guilds were able to gain secures or more TKP by killing the titan while major titan hunting guilds couldn't hunt. Sure it hurt those guilds who solely wanted to hunt titans, but helped those guilds who didn't have the speed/access to hunt against the fastest hunters.

 

After cooldown happened, the price of epics went down because the supply was going up, and demand was going down. Currently, there are only a set number of active players in the game, and by this point in the game, the players/guilds who want the epics have mostly bought the epics they want. The demand is becoming lower, while supply is still increasing because titans continue to spawn. 

 

If HCS creates another epic that gives better stats (Stam gian/hr) than the prior epics value automatically drops. The new epic is highly in demand for those who want the most stam/hr, which gives it a high price in the beginning. As the supply of those items increases, demand will slowly decrease based on players who have purchased. At some point in time, there is an over-abundance of the epics, which creates pricing wars for those who want to sell quickly. The other epics will have deteriorated because players who have replaced it will want to sell it, and the titan will continue to spawn. 

 

Nutcracker is an example of an epic that works well - there is a limited spawn time and it's one of the best epics. That is why that epic holds the value it does. If HCS were to release an epic that has more stam/hr than the ring, then the ring wouldn't be worth as much to most players (not including arena players). 

 

The biggest issue is trying to continually increase the demand of the item, which there are some ideas here to do so for a limited period. The best solution is to create a continual flow of new players who will create the demand on their own for these items.

Why not put some limiters on your PvP or whatever you do. They somewhat did mess with it and you guys went crazy. You somehow got your way too. Teach me how you did it obsessive complaining? The less i'm ALLOWED to play this game the less i WANT to play. There was no CD for years. Cry babies wanted a free win button though and they got it. Epics are supposed to be challenging to acquire not free. 

You already know the answer to this... Monopolies... If you have a monopoly, prices will stay artificially high as those with the power control the majority of the inventory. With the level playing field, there is competition and prices drop as folks in smaller guilds will sell the hard earned epics for a much lesser price. I personally benefitted in the old system as I can spend a ridiculous amount of time killing a titan but now even folks with limited time to play have a chance to capture their own epics. I think it's great for the game despite being not so great for me personally.

Whilst I love that fact that you've taken this on board Hoof - after all this time of me badgering BG about it - I'm still a lil concerned that the actual issue itself hasn't been addressed.

 

OK, new & more powerful mercs are definately welcome, but they're calculated from the same formula, I imagine, and are thus, still underpowered for their level, especially when you factor in the "only 20% of stats apply in groups" rule.

 

Ergo, to actually make the mercs more useful / powerful, either ...

 

1. The formula needs updating to increment their stats by a factor of 2 ? 3 ? 4 ? or whatever

OR

 

2. The "20% rule" needs modifying to at least 50%, ideally 100%

After all, if we hire a mercenary, and pay top dollar for him, we expect 100% commitment from him, not just 20% ;)

I agree that all can comment on any thread however I am appauled at your tone and insinuation. Please stop pulling figures out of thin air. 5% PvPers, 95% levellers.....what?!? And who is suppressing who? The dramatics are really not needed to try to put your point across mate. Actually, I have no idea what point you are trying to make other than scaremongering. Many use PvP and the Bounty Board to bully.... what a load of old tosh. The mecanics of the game allow you to attack other players in the game, allow you to attack the same player numerous times, allows you to attack players on the Bounty Board. So doing what the game ALLOWS means bully? LOFL! And by the way folks, these bully boy tactics of constant hitting a player tend to be very rare, once in a blue moon type of thing. But it has happened and those affected by it do so luv to remind us all about it even if....... it only was the once.

 

Personally, I despair when I read comments like yours yodamus as every single player has a choice within the game. Those being hit and do nothing ie still sit in stam gear, do not use buffs to deter attacks, do not post Bounties, do not make allies to smash bounties...etc,etc,etc canny pull the bully card in my opinion as they aren't really playing the game. Levelling SHOULD have risk and that risk is PvP. Good god man, it's what gives FS its edge.

 

Original Seasons and Leagues with opt in and XP loss along with those super duper Chests. I'd like to see that as a Ladder improvement/replacement. Ta.

Hiding behind the excuse that the "mechanics of the game allow you" is poor. HCS tried to change it to mitigate GvP and guess what happened? The 1st P's turned on them. The New BB system prevented GvP. removed control of the board from the few... One even admitted that they could not "defend" their guildmate... I guess their guildmates should be immuni to have the risk of PVP.

 

Certainly the tone was not the best but both sides have had freakouts yet you only call out one side :/

ok so we will never agree, so instead of taking about the history of updates, do you have any suggestions on tweaks to the current PvP system ?

You won't like it but here are a few ideas. High level summary description only as this post will be a belaric/egami type post if I go into details. Many of these were suggested by others and buried somewhere in the old forum pile:
1. Tournament. Like the ncaa basketball tourney. Huge prize for winners. Opt in only.
2. Live pvp. Challenge someone, they accept. Do battle.
3. Seperate pvp xp system with pvp level. Each player would have regular xp which can't be lost from other players and pvp xp which can be lost.
4. Seasons tweaked
5. Ratings. Higher rates player adds to your rating when you win and reduces when you lose. The bigger the gap, the ratings adjust.
6. New bounty board with tweaks. Allow player to post but generally the same as the new version released by hcs. It got rid of GVP.
So many more...

PvP, Gold, BB and Me.

 

I have been hit for gold, near the end of the hunt and  lost almost all of a hunt more than one time, I'm talking of being dropped more than a million of hunt gold when the hitter took near the mill mark or over perhaps.  100 stam  hit you know.

 

I used to  bounty, then I was asked by a few players if I wanted some 100 stam hits for posting.  That stopped that because I got tired of tossing gold down the rabbit hole.

 

No more bounties placed and the BB slowed down with fewer people to hit. I'm just one player that gave up  on it.  From the sound of the posts being made, a lot of players gave up.

 

Do I resent being hit for gold?   *shrugs* Only when it's 100 stam hit because they can and my hunt is fully wiped out. No deposits for the guild, or myself.  No gold to buy the  to expensive potions in the AH. 

 

You play for your reasons as does every other player in the game.

 

I am concerned about being told that voicing my concerns is a no no, that I have no rights in threads like this because I don't take part in it.

 

I'll make you PvPers a deal.

 

I'll not post in these threads if you don't hit me while I hunt.   Of course I know that's not really a viable request, it's a pipe dream.

I have played this game when we had all players forced into pvp like it or not and the structure was way different than now. I have played the ladders, I have done the bounty boards.  I have played the seasonal league. I have stolen gold. I have leveled, I have done guild wars and all aspect of this game.  

 

The fact is player vs player is how it should be.  This is not meant to be a flamer but as a player of fs community I would really love to see pvp be set up as the best against the best.  Why drag other players that are not interested in it. I say if they want to level let them and if they have gold take it.   I do not get why as a group we do not think pvp as a challenge against the best in all levels throwing down as king or queen of the mountain type deal.  

 

I see by looking at the ladders that there are not many players playing and many opted out. It has nothing to do with prizes really. The players in seasonal including myself wanted to try something different.  To those that call it a pillow fight I really like to asked why many did not participate? I know myself I lost a lot of levels in that pillow fight more than I have on ladders imagine that.  I do not play the current ladders for the reason the targets are boring.  I had more targets and choices in the league. 

 

To me seeing 6 in a ladder is not much fun.  :rolleyes:   I will remind those that do not play all aspects of the game take a look around the game now. We need all players and all levels playing for the community.   I just want to suggest  to bring some ideas from the league to the ladders since they are slow right now. 

 

The bounty board I was looking at it and I see same old players on it again.  :P  :rolleyes:  It was nice in the seasons league to see a variety of players on the bounty board and those collecting the bounties.  I was surprised to see EOC doing bounties.  ;)

 

I have a question for all those on here right now why we are giving players a hard time let all players speak out.  Levelers do not like being dragged into pvp, and pvpers do not like limited targets.  I hope we can find a compromise. 

 

I would like all the community put this thread on track and help suggest improvements that will let pvpers have fun again. I am for the fun factor back into pvp and for those not pvping put some suggestions to for fun in your perspective. It takes all players  to play in fallenswords.  It is time to move forward and see what we the complete community can do to help this game move forward and help hunted cow studios improve and keep people playing.  It takes all of us to make this game fun so lets get back in having fun with all aspects thanks.  :D

Did a quick search today from level 1 to level 1000 there are 133 Legendary sets.. From Level 1001 to 2600 There are just 41 part of the problem is the game is offering no variety and it has been an issue for years ..when was the last update to ladder rewards 2012? When was the Last update to elemental titans either quest or kill type?they stop at 700 and 900 respectively, It is not as if content has been delivered at a frantic pace or game updates have occurred frequently over the same time frame.

 

The Game has been withering on the vine, new ideas are great but they are not everything unless as shown above they receive regular updates to keep up with current play.

Awesome Update!!! THANKS A BUNCH HOOF!!!!  now we just have to figure out how to get things moving in the arena and how to make some of the prizes/items worth something again....  going to be a process but this is a great start by bringing back the gold tournies! and im loving the feedback in the thread so far too! keep up the chatter about the arena and keep throwing ideas/suggestions out there ppl!!!

The main reason the Arena Tokens were introduced was due to some of the arenas not filling up due to the item no longer being desirable. If we re-added items as rewards what would prevent the same issue from re-occurring?

 

The tokens were introduced with very little thought on how it would affect the arena as proven weeks after release.

 

I think what needs to happen is we see a number of new inventable set created, keep tokens and gold as part of the arena as they are now, with the new sets have them were you need to purchase x amount of resourses already in the shop, im not talking like 2 or 3 pieces per item invented im talking more like 10-15 this will keep token arenas moving as you require more to buy to invent.  on top of that put in some new rare parts that are needed to go along with the old resourses but these cant be bought by tokens we will have to fight it out for these items.  as i say make these 'rare', put them with other winable items like frag stashes, new pots that have multiple buffs (not too over powered), even maybe rare crystal sets (ones that are usefull) but instead of durability have them so you can only equipt that item x amount of times before its dead and useless.... this will stop the market from being flooded with them and keep them desireable.

 

anyway just throwing in some ideas from and old arena player that whats to see it active and fun again.
