Let me be the first to say that I love PvP, that being said I don't like it in it's current form. When you engage in PvP, be it prestige, gold hits or just smashing for the heck of it, you assume certain risks. Those risks entail being hit back 1 on 1 or more often the case being placed on the BB. Here is where my problem with PvP starts. Being placed on the Bounty Board is "punishment" for some infraction you perpetrated on the placer of the Bounty. If you lose 5 then shut up that's just part of the deal. Where my problem starts is the "rules" that the hunted go by...don't start on a current bounty, don't 100 stam me, don't do this don't do that or I'll counter bounty you. Why should anyone on the Bounty Board be able to counter bounty anyone? You are there as a "punishment" why should you be able to respond to the attacks that you caused by initiating a PvP attack on someone by being able to counter bounty? In my humble opinion there should be no ability to counter bounty a bounty hunter. You got yourself placed on the BB, deal with consequences and move on.

1. Folk slapping you on a prestige hit and then getting abusive / crying when you bounty them
2. PvP'rs that just attack those that are not of a like mind - pvp should be player vs player, both of which WANT to participate.
3. PvP's that hit folk with no gold on hand (or next to none) when there has been no provocation issued (and yes, despite protestations, it DOES happen) - i.e. targetted player has minimised the risks, but to no avail.
4. PvP's that hit someone and then when that person has the audacity to return a hit, calls a bounty and delevelling party.
If PvP is going to thrive again in the game then something needs to be done to stop so many players being p***ed off by it ..

Let me be the first to say that I love PvP, that being said I don't like it in it's current form. As almost everyone has noted, when you engage in PvP, be it prestige, gold hits or just smashing for the heck of it, you assume certain risks. That being said the best true PvP I ever experienced in the game was when Bounty Hunters could lose XP if they lost a Bounty attack. As either hunter or hunted I relished the changing of sets to match my prey or attacker as they changed theirs. That was true PvP and many great friends, many since gone from the game were made. I would like to see those days back, right now a player on the BB has absolutely no incentive to "dance" with their hunter, there is no point. To me that was the best part of PvP, me against a bunch of hunters, trying to make the hunt as painful as possible to them all the while carrying on good nature'd conversation with them. Or conversely me taking on a bounty that was a little to steep as a then level 500 taking on a level 1000, losing a lot but enjoying the true PvP aspect of the game. I know many would disagree but I see a solution to the desert that has become the Bounty Board as 1. Not being able to counter bounty a bounty hunter or hunters and 2. bringing back XP loss to the hunters. Give me an incentive to make life a little difficult for the Bounty Hunter and bring the "art of dancing" back to the game.

While technically true, we try not to do such things. Helheart's an exception to the rule.
Well it doesn't happen often granted. But you have to see the detrimental effect that the super high inv and inv2 potions have on the whole inventing mechanic?
I mean there are soooo many omacaz chests in the game, if you only made the change going forward and not retro active it wouldn't help in the slightest bit. :S

they couldnt nerf them now any future boxes they could but existing ones they couldnt ... its like buying a 50 inch tv and when you get it delivered its 20 inch that isnt what you paid for
Of course they could, it's in the ToS. You don't actually own anything in this game, HCS can and do change things that already exist in the game. The Helheart set springs to mind as a prime example. It's not the only time it's happened though.
If a specific course of action is what is best for the game, specific individuals concerns are secondary.

Inv and inv2 mega potions are going to ensure that any future invented item doesn't not have the rarity/value that it was perhaps intended to have.
Personally I am of the opinion that Grim should just bite the bullet and nerf those ridiculous omacaz potions down to the 300 mark or so. Sure people might complain, but in the end it WOULD be for the good of the game overall.

problem with doing it that is it only brings value to the 1 item they use from the set the rest is still junk...its happened many times with sets that used nojor or destroyer parts
Yeah, but what do you think about creating, I don't know how to call it, but let say 'Spirit'.
Spirit of Steep Nojor = Obtained combining Steep Nojor Gloves, Armor and Shield.
And this 'Spirit' thing is used to inventing the desired item.
I would like to see it for almost all the SEs, that will keep the high prices for a long time...But I'll keep Jabberwock, Empusa and few others 'Inventing SEs' out of that, maybe, idk.

What about rewarding as a ratio of the amount of stamina? So someone who got 1000 kills, but has a max of 500 stamina (x2) gets a bonus, but someone with 1000 kills and 1000 stamina? With the bonus scaling somehow. ie rewarding when kill:stamina ratio > x, where x > 1.
+1 to hiding top 100 log
+1 to hiding auto open spam
Preposterous. You can't reward someone more for having an un-upgraded character. It completely devalues the whole idea of upgrading ones character.

Hide the top 100 till the event is over.
It's simple really.
All of this sliding scale depending on max stam stuff is nonsense.
I mean really, you want to make the game harder for people that upgrade their character? When does that start making sense? Character upgrades are meant to make things easier for the player, not the opposite way around.
Just make the top 100 an unknown quantity till the event is over, that way everyone pushes their hardest, hopes it's enough and gets all excited when the event ends and they rush to see if they made it. (Or they hedge their bet on what they 'think' will be enough and cross their fingers)
This "Oh look at the top 100, there's no way I can do that, I'm not even going to bother" stuff that is happening now is both saddening and unnecessary.

On the note of getting more multiK'ers instead of 5K'ers. I am against the idea of it auto ending once 17.5 mil is achieved. But perhaps putting each players global contribution on their profile page. May inspire more people to hunt a little more.. Would be kinda embarrassing to have 50K stam and 5K kills
Not necessarily - they may well have had almost 0 stam at the time ..
The cows would never do that tho - 'cos there'd be too many folk protesting. Naming / Shaming folk in that way, just because they chose to play the game one way rather than another way would never fly ...

Once again, I'd like to say thank you to HCS for the event. The frags were much needed for many players (including those that use global pots and don't make them).
Based on the Chest rewards, I'm interested to see if we make Ruby tier as I always thought the ruby leveling pot was the best... for levelers.
To play the devil's advocate:
Time and time again, I see these complaints about players that ONLY do the minimum kills in case the community makes the Ruby tier.
While I understand the frustration, I don't think these complaints are justified.
Stam is stam. How that is used is a personal decision. Who am I to say that someone that has gotten 100k stam should use that all on this event in the "interest" of the "community"? Who am I to "require" that someone use more than 5k stam on this event simply because I, selfish person that I am, really like the top pots? Time involved, costs involved... Are those irrelevant?
Those who "bother" to do the 5k are making a bet on the probability that the community will complete the maximum goal AND are making the evaluation that it's worth it for them as a player to "waste" their stam on it.
To put it in perspective: personally, I farm and sell frags, compose for my Guild and have zero interest in leveling. This event is theoretically completely against my "best" interests. I'd be "better off" using my 5k stam to continue with business as usual.
In short, I think those complaining about those players that are "selfish" by only doing 5k kills should probably consider evaluating what they are "really" complaining about and try to be objective about their own "selfish ends".
A quick guestimate by looking at the Pinata Frenzy III shows about 3.5 million kills came in from top 100. I fully expect that to be more based on the pots doled out this time (thanks HCS!). What I wonder (no, I do NOT think it would be a good idea for this info to become public) is what the total tally is from all the players doing between 5k and 5.5k kills.
MY PERSONAL REMINDER:
This is supposed to be an FS Community event.
Currently, I see no box messages for help on the event.
I see no advertising of an FS Forum that gives good advice on where to go or what buffs to use.
I HAVE found in the Buff Market a cheap Conserve-Light Foot combo for 10k gold, but I'm not sure whether that was there prior to this particular GE.
CONCLUSION:
Instead of the usual self-interested complaints about what other players do... I wonder what would happen if we saw some "true" community spirit.
You reap what you sow...
Thanks again for the event HCS and prosperous smacking everybody! (o0

Not all of us can get online to check up on things every day. Life intrudes.
I like the time-frame. It gives us, all of us, a real chance. . It even gives us a chance at Ruby II on the rare occasion that we impress the Cows. It's an interesting idea, but I don't think that this is the way to go about it, to encourage participation.
In my opinion, you'd be defeating the community spirit of the event, and making it more a every man for himself scenario.

#915826 Helpful advice on Global Events (GE)

Where to hunt*:
Before getting too far in, I thought it would be good to edit in BG's confirmation of the required size of realms for spawning to occur and the relevant level at the beginning:
10 x 10 is correct. Bear in mind, this INCLUDES the borders of the realm. Global critters spawn in Realms of level 25+.
What follows is a general list of "preferred" hunting grounds provided by many players throughout FS. The relevance of the "Just Elite" or "no creatures" (where noted) is simply because a player will not have to worry about hitting something else while using the number key to smack.
Ramdal Caves: Level 25 and the lowest level place they start spawning. Not my favorite, but it does cost less via portal to get here.
Iluore Dragon Pit level 92: 10 x 10 (no creatures listed). Thanks out to Rexarr.
Tepal Cave (Level 140): Just Elite.
Rarek Dungeon (Level 150): Just Elite.
Kozyu Crystal Catacombs(Level 225): Just Elite.
Vashku (Level 235): Just Elite.
Ragnok Lair(Level 260): Just Elite.
Trvons Clearing (Level 310): Just Elite. Thanks out to yghorbb for the info.
Sphinx Lair (Level 370): Just Elite... thanks out to yotwehc for the info. BG's favorite spot.
Xinderoth's Library (Level 421): No creatures. Thanks out to ironlegs for the info.
Key Lock (Level 460): No creatures. Thanks out to yotywehc. Quest locked. justinian9 suggested the area right before it that also has no creatures: Compound Gate.
Ralthien (Dark Corner)level 510: No creatures listed. Thanks out to TobiasRagg.
The Secret Kingdom (Keep): Level 530. Thanks out to crippla for the info.
Darkwater Lighthouse (Lower) (level 533). No creatures. Thanks out to ironcire. BG said it's quest blocked.
Satero Residence (level 930). Just Elite. Thanks out to zizzwyly.
*Please note on the above areas:
Sometimes the fact that an area is "quest blocked" is noted. After some careful thinking, I decided this is irrelevant for the general idea of the post.
My personal advice (since I don't have the necessary knowledge) is: Be sure to check your quest book (on left-hand sidebar under Character). If you are a player that tries to avoid doing quests, then simply avoid the areas near where a quest is necessary or ask around (or in this post). Not all of the above areas are my personal preferences. However, I ended up deciding to NOT exclude areas that "may" be quest blocked.
Global Booster:
On the left-hand sidebar under Upgrades (thanks out to Scoops1972 for correcting), click on Loyalty. Here you may find various potions for gold or Loyalty Tokens (I personally suggest purchasing for gold) for Global Booster.
This works like Doubler, but the nuance is pretty important: Global Booster ups the number of kills registered for an equivalent stam usage. This makes Conserve useful. HOWEVER, do NOT hit regular creatures while this buff is active. It will drain your stam like Doubler but it won’t do anything for your kills.
Besides the loyalty section, there are other various potions available with this skill in the Auction House (AH) if you select it in the “Grants Buff” drop-down and is also an option via Composing.
This pot will help you get more more kills at a stam cost that is equal to the extra kills. However, when your conserve activates, you will get the extra kills at zero stam cost.
“Essential” buffs (or potions**) to use:
Conserve
Lightfoot
Animal Magnetism
Reckoning
Other possible buffs/potions to use:
Summon Shield Imp- If you really care about your Kill Streak (KS). Crud happens, lol.
Unbreakable- If you care about your gold. This is relevant to "avoid" repair costs to a "large" degree. Also see the Item Use section further down for additional advice.
If you compose, these are highly recommended on events where frag stashes are dropped by the global creatures (please note that there is some additional info on this a bit lower down***):
Find Item (FI)- This is player-goal and GE dependent. Useful in frag GEs IF you compose.
Lady Luck- This runs in tandem with FI.
**If you are using potions (pots) then you should consider the following. Keep in mind that Global Booster is only available currently as a pot
Distil: This will increase the power of your pots. It should "theoretically" be used before drinking any pots.
Brewing Master will allow your pots to last longer. You need to decide whether this is relevant or not based on how long you will be smacking. With current maximum level 175 buff (not including the potion) a 30 minute potion will last 57 minutes when drunk after this pot is activated. 45 min = 85 and 60 min = 113.
In most cases (if you are planning on smacking for more than half an hour, you need to be aware of what is better for you), as soon as you are done drinking ALL your pots, you may want to deactivate both Brewing Master and Distil in order for Reckoning to work "better".
-Thanks to yotwehc for making me realize the above clarification was probably key (o0
Item use:
Since most GEs are level 25 creatures, it may be convenient to minimize the number of items worn to have stats enough to one-hit but fewer to save on repairs.
You need to weigh the importance of your KS and consider how efficient you are in paying attention to your tick in order to switch for your stam-gain items at the appropriate time.
*** FS options for when there are frag stash drops from global creatures:
You should know that there are two options that may be important for you under Character, then Preferences then User Interface. At the time of this edit, both are the last two under Miscellaneous at the bottom right of this screen.
1st: Auto Open Fragment Stashes: When you are smacking the global creatures that drop frag stashes, this will automatically open those stashes. The fragments go to your composing frags stash. This is extremely handy since you could have only one bp space open and it will suffice for your smacking. Since items are currently bound, I have had a hard time understanding (though there could be a reason current OR FUTURE) why you wouldn't have this box checked.
As of this edit, I can say that my investigations have shown that it opens only those stashes received as drops. I hope this continues that way. In other words, according to my experience, it does NOT open anything taken from the Item Mailbox. This is relevant because it means that if you find a frag stash in a chest somewhere, it is not opened when you take it from your Item Mailbox. It also does not auto-open the Frag chests given as prizes in some GEs. I would hope this NEVER changes because, though the Frag chest prizes are currently bound, the chests found in the realms that require a key and contain Frag stashes are not. Some may prefer to send to Guildies or sell.
Since the above has not been confirmed by HCS and "could" change, I'd suggest using this option ONLY during the frag GEs and deactivating (unclicking the boxes) afterwards, just to be safe.
2nd: Hide Fragment Stash Logs. The only thing this really does is alleviate the pressure on your log. What it means is that you will no longer receive log messages telling you how many frags you receive when you open a frag stash.
Any further discussion with expert opinion on adjustments is appreciated.
I tried to make it as simple as possible for all levels and also with a view towards it attempting to be “ever-lasting” (willie wonka reference). Hence, I wasn’t too interested in listing possible pots, ie., check out how vague I was on the Global Booster.
