#900129 Mobile Interface

Posted by RebornJedi on 12 November 2014 - 17:02

I think we should get rid of the mobile interface until its actually useful all around.. It probably turns away more players than it helps. The mobile interface is ugly and pretty much useless.

If I can't even look at my backpack let alone equip gear what is the point of it? To look at the news, log, and world for what purpose if we can't even look at our stats or message players or use about 99% of the other features of the game..

So let's just disable the forgotten mobile interface.. At least until its worked on again.. There is a lot of talk about the cows pushing for new players in the near future.. Personally hope they get rid of the useless mobile interface or actually become aware of the HUGE benefit it could give to the game before they hook up some portals for a new audience

I see a lot of passionate views and opinions here which is a good thing, nothing is getting placed on the back burner, I'm working with the team now and we're going to strive for a much more regular pace of updates to improve all aspects of the game.

I don't agree that composing should, automatically, become a priority.

There are MANY MANY things that need attention of which composing is just one.

How about, rather than us all demanding that a facet of personal interest be given urgent attention, we just let him re-familiarise himself with the game and then let HIM AND THE TEAM decide what needs doing to each area ?

Of course its your right to disagree.  But my point was Composing is not a "change" that is required.  Composing was discussed and 50 levels of buffs and new Composing only buffs were promised when it was introduced over a year ago.

However only 20 levels of buffs and no new composing only buffs were put into place.

50 levels of Composed buffs should have been put into place more than a year ago when it was introduced and should not be viewed as something that needs ammending or updating....  IT IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE FROM THE VERY START

Nope, I'm here to stay! Composing was discussed early today, however I feel we're going to aim for regular updates and have no hard date to give you on that yet, we're committed to getting game updates out more frequently and this will be independently from content updates.

Hi John

Welcome back to fs.  Please do not disregard Composing updates so quickly.  Many of us have put a lot into Composing and have been promised on many occassions that new buffs will be added soon and we were even give a time frame of "weeks" by both BG and Hoof many many months ago.  Composing has been a huge gold sink but i have heard many say they are stopping at level 27 because of the current situation of no new buffs.  I personally at one point was sinking more than 2 million in gold and using 3500 common frags PER DAY !!

Composing never made it to the road map as the community expected that when Composing was introduced all the buffs were in place and they would be discovered by us as we reached each level.   So we did not think there was any work required on Composing.  But, as we are now aware, there were no buffs in place after level 20.

My first ticket about composing was sent 261 days ago.  I have been waiting patiently ever since and heard many promises.

Composing must be given priority as its not a change that is being requested, its something that should have been in place when composing was introduced more than a year ago!  We were told we would unlock new buffs as we progressed through 50 levels of composing......  Not 20 !!  We were also promised new Composing only buffs !!

So please John give Composing the priority it deserves !!

#899905 simple solution to the level issue in arena

Posted by Dulcharn on 11 November 2014 - 19:15

The ranges should be more like this:

1-100

101-249

250-499

500-999

1000-1499

1500-1999

2000-2499

10 tourneys for each range at any given time due to the spawning of level range after cleared tourney

70 tourneys in total

Welcome back to FS, Radneto!

It may take a while to get accustomed to the game after so long. My advice to get the community on your side, is to participate in the game when you get the chance. Leveling up to EOC would instantly get our attention. Achieving a few arena medals would create trust. PvP'ing against others will turn heads :) Try all aspects, so you can build your own opinion on the game in addition to listening to the handfull of players who contribute to the forum. The player base is much larger than the people who return routinely to the forum to state their opinions.

Here's an opinion on the arena:

The arena needs a more balanced level range. There aren't many lower level tournaments (lvl 1 to 200 - 500). Players such as Brice, an arena guru, can't rise up the arena list as fast as someone with a higher level - this isn't fair for him or others. Gold reward tournaments of 500K - 1M should return to get more interest from other (new) players. No one exchanges arena tokens for gold. That doesn't make sense when you can exchange them for much better things that are worth more. Having gold tourneys does make sense.

#899835 Content Roadmap.

Posted by BigGrim on 11 November 2014 - 13:47

Hey Everyone.

Updated the opening post with the following :

Content.

November 13th (Approx) : 2301 - 2325 =
November 26th (Approx) : 2326 - 2350 =
December 3rd (Approx) : 2351 - 2375 =
December 17th (Approx) : 2376 - 2400 =
December 30th (Approx) : 2401 - 2425 =
January 14th (Approx) : 2426 - 2450 =

Additionally, we are looking to add new content at existing levels. This will feature new quests in existing Realms Vs existing creatures.  Most likely starting low and working up. This is most likely to appear as a random new Quest or two periodically. Hopefully, this can make things in the lower levels fresh and interesting.

Events or additions to the game.

Storybook Forest.

We've been working on Storybook. I'd like to see this out again soon. As it stands, I have 7 new "The Story of ..." quests lined up, taking us to about EoC.

Christmas

Two new Christmas Quests, again taking us to EoC.

The return of the Dragon LE events with three new Dragons and an Egg potion on each Dragon instead of just one. Expect the potions to be unusual buffs, trying to keep them to the theme of the Dragon where possible.

Between 2 and 4 brand new Seasonal Titans for Christmas.  Thread for ideas can be found HERE!

I've been in a number of meetings with the Fallen Sword team today about how we are going to tackle some of the updates and road-map for Fallen Sword, I'm hopeful of getting an action plan together after some more meetings tomorrow. To begin with I want to tackle a number of improvements to the game that the community wants but also we're going to endeavor to bring the game to new audiences and grow the player base.

Regards

Hi all,

Many of you maybe know me, some of you don't. I'm John and I'm Studio Manager at Hunted Cow Studios. I've just finished work on our upcoming game 'Hell', and as such I'll now be taking over management of Fallen Sword development. I'm very keen to start working with BigGrim, Zorg and Hoof to figure out positive and important changes for the game moving forward.

I will be reviewing the roadmap and other forum threads next week and will endeavour to update you all with our revised plans for the future of the game. (Some slight changes to the roadmap may be required.) For those of you that know me, I have been working with another one of our communities in the Eldevin game for the past year, and I hope to work with all our Fallen Sword players to continue to grow and develop the game.

Sincerely
John Stewart

I MIGHT use this.... however.... that may end up costing me all my gold, then what would I need to deposit?  I guess one could plan ahead?

#898529 An Open Letter to the Fallensword team

Posted by Hoofmaster on 06 November 2014 - 21:21

Hi DeadParrot,

I appreciate the feedback, however be assured that we plan to dedicate a lot of time to the improvement of Fallen Sword. I agree that we have been busy lately with the Eldevin release on Steam, but be assured that we intend fully to allocate more resources in the very near future to making improvements to Fallen Sword.

Radneto, Zorg and myself will be taking a much more active role in the game design and community in the coming months to help improve many aspects of the game going forward. I realise these are only words, but be assured that this is going to be a very high priority for us.

Cheers,

Andrew (Hoof)

#898516 An Open Letter to the Fallensword team

Posted by DeadParrot on 06 November 2014 - 20:33

An Open Letter to the Fallensword team,

The following statement is long over due and with the current state of the game, is appropriate and timely. ...you ask, who do I think I am? I am a long time player (very long) who wishes the larger community to understand what has truly gone wrong with Fallensword, not just the edited and deleted version that is put forth.

The current state of the game is in disrepair. EoC players are leaving, few new players are entering the fray, and those that do, leave with shocking velocity. The forums are an uninviting place, reserved for the elite (who are lauded for their views, others not so much), and the complacent; for those who dare not question the higher-uppers for fear of retribution or the all-too-frequent bans. Those who thank their lucky stars for ANYTHING to be done is this game have low standards and encourage the game designers to meet those low standards. Numbers in this game have declined in recent years, this is no coincidence as administration of this game passed from Hoof to others. Additionally, ideas such as composing, have come from players, not from administration, begging the question, who is watching this game from on-high? We all know that Fallensword boasts the most loyal and consistent player base in HCS-dom, so why has this game been neglected for the likes of iOS games and Eldevin? The questions may not be answered, and frankly, players are not owed an answer. However, developers have the option of respecting their player base...or losing it forever. Here are my observations in the last few years:

  • The Fallensword team has transferred administration from Hoof to mere moderators as the team sits now....coding and updates are not a priority, shown by empirical evidence.

  • The game and forum moderators are combative and engage in personal attacks, they lack professionalism, which is not required of the customer, but is an advisable trait of an employee.

  • Punitive measures have no consistency and extent is determined based on the party who complains.

  • There are frequent implementation and grammatical errors in events in recent years.

  • The game is constantly being watered down and convoluted based on the views of the few, who are now becoming the majority as active player numbers dwindle.

  • The real money to ingame currency is shockingly expensive is relation to the FSP to gold exchange rate from the early renditions of this game. There is very little value for the money.

  • Players, as mentioned, are leaving in droves, myself included. The results of this post is of no consequence to my game play or character.  I am not seeking change or results.

  • The long range plans of the game are unclear, as evidenced by the constant slogging of leveling content, and re-hash of events; nothing truly changes. Each change seems patchwork.

  • Content and upgrade roadmaps are largely ignored or pushed off so far that deadlines have very little meaning, what message does this send to the remaining player base?

  • There are so many more issues, PvP, GvG, the vocal minority who continually steer the game, the pay-to-win gear system, Arena gear dominance, top guild titan dominance, scavenging (really??), the bounty board....and on and on. But the problems outlined above clearly indicate that the daily and periodic implementation of Fallen sword is faulty, broken, and clearly shows a lack of respect for the player base.

  • I care not to get into a game of semantics and minute detail.  Those who concern themselves with this are clouding the real core issues. I also don't welcome responses, as these items are not up for debate.  If you feel they are....again, you are clouding core issues.

Just because you disagree or are offended, doesn't mean you're right. You may not like the message or the messenger, but that doens't mean the message is flawed. So sad when a child doens't realize their obvious potential....

Good day, Fallen sword.

Signed

A former player

#898404 Confirm! Confirm! Confirm!

Posted by BigGrim on 06 November 2014 - 10:27

Confirmations are annoying, but necessary I guess.

I do wish that the global event chests only contained the highest form we earned however.

Including the lower tiers is both pointless and dangerous. (to those who struggle with mis-clicks)

It's like this for the simple reason that lower level players may not get the best use of the highest level potions due to their Stam Bank but who still wish to contribute to Ruby and beyond.
