#895588 Guild Log Organiser Idea (ish)

Posted by Gutie on 21 October 2014 - 01:21

If it's server capacity or too much data.... why don't the cows nuke all accounts at or below level 10 that are gone for over 1000 days? They used to delete old accounts at one point.... I know that wiping those accounts and all data from them including the low level junk items would help a lot with servers and data, which would then enable a lot more free space for things like this.

If our personal log data gets wiped after a month or so as I've been told, why not that, and use the MASSIVE amount of free space for the much smaller amount of heavily active guilds to be enabled to get use of it, and to top it off have that structure to lengthen visible guild logs to say a month? A gold sink coming from guilds who want that added luxury (given FSHelper version of that feature no longer works we're integrating a feature of it, and getting a gold sink at the same time....:D) , and a reduction of serverload and data storage, a win win for everyone.

Could also look at some point of imitating what eldevin does for subscriber things. Extended log length to 14 days,  mailbox to 48 hours, small fluff things, an extra permenant base 5 added to Ally slots, 5 BP slots and a xp gain boost for active subscribers. Would be a nice way for the cows to get a boost to income/revnue without making any game breaking changes or plugging more FSP into the game.

#895390 Deflect/Anti-Deflect Activation

Please check out the links i have provided:  http://forums.hunted...on/#entry895106

In these threads many players have noticed these streaks. Many mainly see it when deflect kicks in. But the flawed RNG affects all aspects of the game play. Be it 4-leaf, crafting, extraction or the caves etc. Hoofmaster only confirmed the code for deflect, never the randomness of the RNG. Some of these streaks are so unlikely to happen, players should not see them on a regular basis (even when playing often). In my opinion there are enough reports of these streaks, to give a reason for HCS to get the code/randomness of the RNG verified.

As RJEM pointed out in those threads, what you get in the forum is people posting the thing that jumped out at them, which is usually the "unlucky" streaks. Getting people to provide full logs to validate the odds is something RJEM couldn't get people to do.

Also, as I posted in those threads, there is a big difference between the odds of an individual event, and the odds of that event happening in a big sample. None of the streaks reported in those threads are anywhere near as unlikely as the chance of someone winning the lottery. Yet hear on the news every week that someone just won the lottery.

There are certainly good and bad RNGs (where bad introduces correlations between successive numbers without necessarily biasing the individual outcomes). But it is also the case that selective reporting/memory makes a lot of unusual events seem more common than they really are.

And bear in mind that if the RNG is on the server (instead of running locally in your browser) then it is probably being called a lot of times by other players in between your successive hits, which would make it difficult for an individual player to see any correlations that are inherent in the RNG.

Another thread, with the goal to get Deflect nerved...
Deflect has been discussed a bunch of times already.

As the Mythbuster here: http://forums.hunted...&hl=mythbusters

Another one where Hoofmaster confirmed the code: http://forums.hunted...showtopic=58580

Yet another where RJEM (the original poster of the Mythbuster) comments on the math.
http://forums.hunted...uring-bounties/

From those 3 threads the overall math is "ok".

The problem is, that the random number generator is not random enough, and things happen in streaks.

Oh Yea.. To encourage returned 100 stamina attacks.. A revenge attack that takes double/triple/quadtruble PvP XP, prowess, prestige should be an option instead of posting a bounty..

Also gold stolen could be put in a temporary spot for a certain time limit so the victim can steal it back if they choose to.

Maybe all the gold stolen from the thief's robberies is kept in the same spot so you have a chance to steal back even more gold.. His 'hidden' stash could be available for bounty hunters to grab as well.. Lots of ideas could come from this..

#895118 Caves and Creatures!

I don't really care how many others have of those in their backpacks. I got myself hundreds of them last time they were out, and now, I have only some left. All used myself, and not sold at a later time for profit. If there is many in the game because hoarders stock for selling later, thats not our problem. It's been awhile since they were out, I want them back so I can stock up enough until next time they come back again.

Nice attitude :(

just a reminder of why this is occurring, taken from a Bio today.

"i have fun from taking away other's fun...you have no idea what kind of joy i get out of killing an enemy that is doing a quest, because if i were questing i would expect the same from an enemy... but on the other hand, i do take notes of who has spared me and if i have an oppurtunity to kill them i wont take it.."

I think PvPXP should be just that, xp. A separate measure of xp from levelling xp. Win and lose it on the bb and off bb hits. Something to show how much you participate in PvP. And a PvP level also, just as in creature-killing-xp. Take a couple of steps firther and you could have PvP level up points, to allocate into stuff like Master Thief %, Thievery %, rating boosts, or whatever.. Want to have a bigger chance to protect your gold? Well, gain some PvPXP and use PvP LUP's on your protect gold enhancement. Theres so much that could be done with a system like that.

And if there is to be some form of tokens or whatnots as a prize for being a skilled PvPer, lets not use PvPXP in exchange for them. Use PvP rating for them. As it now works in the ladder. Ladder itself might come obsolete, but, who would miss it really, not like its not in need of serious fixing anyway.

Just something that came into my small mind.

Thanks for listening.

just trying to keep this post from getting buried in this thread until bg or hoof make comment about where this pvp system is heading..one of the best post in the entire thread..know it has to be good when pvpers and levelers both like it..

#894491 FINAL SOLUTION for BOTH parties

Posted by wil72 on 14 October 2014 - 23:11

XP loss is not the problem, it's the game mechanics that allow XP loss to "bully" that is the problem. And yes you can say send in a ticket, do this, do that but at the end of the day the mechanics allow what could be termed "bullying". Aren't HCS hands tied because of this? How do you punish a player that is only doing what the game allows? Unfortunately it appears that some have abused these mechanics and now XP loss is deemed a problem by HCS. This was always going to happen folks. " To much of a good thing " an all that.

Cheers.

What do you value, that you don't want taken?

#894451 FINAL SOLUTION for BOTH parties

Posted by BadPenny on 14 October 2014 - 20:58

please explain how the  A "soft" player gets baited into hitting a "raw" player... then we rip levels?  To me, that's unsportsmanlike and dishonorable, but mark my words, this WILL happen... Then, we're right back to where we are now, protesting the removal of XP loss again... in the UPGRADED SYSTEM

the only thing a "soft" player would get from a "raw" player by attacking is GOLD !!!

are you saying that the "raw" player will be baiting the "soft" player by holding lots of gold on hand???????

Let me break this down for you... I decide I don't like (let's call him "Harvey")... So, I stalk Harvey, and one day, I catch him on the back end of his hunt.  I strike, I get an MT and take all the gold (yeah, it's my dream scenario, I'm going to be awesome)... Now Harvey, he's retired and on a fixed income, and doesn't want to spend on tickets and a bounty prize... So Harvey hits me back... Now, me, I'm arrogant and obnoxious and think I own Erildath.... so, rather than just trade friendly licks (the sportsmanlike thing to do)  I start hourly hitting poor Harvey... eventually, he gets frustrated, annoyed and angry and swings back.... Being the ogre that I am... I post Harvey, and call in all my friends.  Harvey loses 5 levels AND his initial gold.... Now, why exactly is Harvey being punished?  For fighting back?  Yes... and this will happen, is happening ... Arrogance abounds in Erildath, it's unavoidable, some folks are born that way....

Does this answer your question??? I hope so... My arthritic fingers are beginning to ache from all this typing....

#894077 Suggestions for new Arena, GvG and PvP Ladder Rewards?

Posted by wil72 on 12 October 2014 - 23:16

^ +1 I agree with Avvakum Back in the Day,what was the point of many guilds all fighting for 50% against FFS and failed as they are fighting each other, so what happened. Titan hunters merged, gained allegiance and beat them into the ground the grouped and became a better game style. I still remember Rise Against became the force to be reckon with alongside FFS and now its dead. I was going to join RA before going in Uni and thus becoming Inactive and i came back and they are all gone.

Yes someone comes along submits a 'Better' idea to help a small group and then the consequences unfold and end up crashing the gameplay but at least they have the small group. There's no challenge anymore just fixes that fix nothing

Also If Epics or (A good reward) is added ill bet i get gear and give them 'Masters' a run for there money same as pvp if the rewards wasnt so useless and profitless theres no point.

EG: in Pvp the rewards make items which are less than the cost to buy the rest of the ingredients. Whats the point playing when it cheaper to just buy it. And why would i 'go to town' buying super expensive buffs... to then win... for nothing.

What utter guff mate. I care not for "your" back in the day. You admit to being away from the game for some time yet you give the impression of being all knowledgeable. What a crock. Titan hunting was monopolised by the few, still is to a certain degree. Changes made have tried to address that. Why do you think there was such an outcry by certain guilds. Geez, look at the bigger picture not you personal gain or loss. Your ace, you joined "way back then" in 2007. Respect. If you started a guild "way back then" it be awesome, right?

Cheers.

#894045 Here's what I think about PvP and XP loss

Posted by shindrak on 12 October 2014 - 19:29

I don't know why would people want to keep punishment.. why do you need to punish someone in game?

because he/she stole your gold? YOU need to get punished for holding too much gold...

because they aren't following your unwritten pvp rules? i wont answer this because it would be rude lol

#893275 FINAL SOLUTION for BOTH parties

Posted by Pardoux on 08 October 2014 - 21:42

A better solution, IMO, would be :-

Soft hits Soft = soft BB

Soft hits Raw = soft BB

Raw hits Soft = raw BB

Raw hits Raw = raw BB

After all, those "raw" players continually profess not to care about their XP loss and those "soft" players will care about their pvpxp.

Of course, I don't expect any pvp'rs to agree with that - 'cos they still want to be able to take levels if anyone dares to hit them back ;)

That is if both ..

1. BG adopts this system

and

2. Interaction between raw and soft is integrated - which I don't think it should be. Soft should only be able to hit Soft and Raw should only be able to hit Raw.
