Just my 2 gp worth on the inventing:

 

 Any of us who have been around for 7 years or so have seen a lot of originally expensive epic items drastically go down in price.  Most of this is caused by what I'm calling the "Fallen Sword Effect".  The things just don't wear out, as our blacksmiths can return them to pristine condition even if totally destroyed.   I'm not complaining mind you, just stating the obvious.

 

In my humble (or not so)) opinion we don't need to have the market flooded by new epics.  They SHOULD be hard to produce, (hence the term "epic") and the word hard implies a certain amount of risk.

 

Yes, if my pail of milk got spilt, I'd be irritated, in fact, a "Golly Gee Whiz!" might escape my lips.  But it would be part of the game, equally applied for everyone.

 

    Probably not a real popular view. but the game doesn't need to be made easier.  A few honest challenges are always good.

Bummer was hoping it would use some other epics like Fuvy Stone or some other epics that are of no value ro help maybe increase some of those " dead " epics in price a little

 

and, on the flip side of that, I'm glad it didn't..

 

Using unwanted chest crystalline - and preventing Inventor II from saving items - will make THESE items far more unique and "valuable" than they would have otherwise been ...

Actually, people who grew up with poke'mon are adults now. They are no different to those who grew up with Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel and DC comic heroes, and so on and so forth.

I do not want to even think about the number of barons I was killing without Fi and the number of drops I have simply fragmented...

If it was easy to get, we (players) would complain and when it is not easy we complain again...

 

Anyway the spawns are fine as they are.

I'll agree to disagree  with you about my choice of words to describe how I feel about a PvP hit that takes part of the enjoyment out of the game  for me.

 

We all desire to play the aspects of the game we enjoy, I am no different.

 

There are some suggestions put forth that would truly undercut player enjoyment except for hard core PvP players. I see why they ask for things they ask for.   I'm somewhat disappointment that others are not accorded the same.

 

As to game and real life, well that is something else, my account was originally made to pass the time between other battles, little did I know there was PvP in this game. I did read what I saw... all of what I saw.

 

I found I liked the game and enjoyed playing, it wasn't hard to grasp the basics, it still isn't.

 

There is a wide variety of players to be found in this game and it is wrong to try and force everyone to play every aspect just because some want it to be that way.

 

There should also be a line added to the other aspects of the game that says something about PvP, it is proper notice to incoming players, after all.

I am sorry Pythia and please forgive my frankness but comparing a game to real life is ridiculous and has no relevance, in my opinion, during a PvP debate or any other "game" discussion. It is purely emotional.

 

At the end of the day if you disagree with any mechanic in the/a game you have a choice....don't log in again.

 

That is not the case in "real life" so comparing a game to the later is a non starter.

wil72 - yes real life comparisons are difficult in FS. And yes, game mechanics are there and folk should be realistic about them. But advising someone not to log in again? Good plan. There is a reason why we are down to 350 people online now. Telling someone to 'suck it up' isn't going to encourage them to stay, and we need every player nowadays. PvP players and level oriented players alike have left the game, and for both styles of player (and all the other types of player - FS is a big tent!) part of that reason has been they have felt the mechanics of the game have failed them, especially changes to those mechanics. We should be able to talk about them (mechanics of the game and how they effect us) without ultimatums being invoked. Unless losing some of our remaining hardcore players is what is desired.

 

Lets keep what we have and build back up, if possible. I know HCS would like that!

I am very against the idea of the "OPT - OUT feature" I don't feel the term should "EVER" be offered to players in this game. PvP is part of the game and as Leo has stated in this "Global Event" where the concept is to have fun and introduce people to the concept of "soft PvP" where no Xp is lost - I don't feel we need an Opt out feature - Especially since the Global Event will "select the targets based on the Global PvP Rating +/- 25 levels - So why do we need an opt out?

Composing
Levellingi

Titan Hunting

 

These are just as much as part of the game, if not more so, than PvP is ...

 

I think it's very disingenuous of you to want to "force" players to partake in the area of the game that YOU enjoy whilst not being yourself forced into others ??

Never said that PVP isn't part of the game. Some claim it's the only part... I think this is an MMORPG with many parts. But I think Chazz is looking for a sincere path to increase activity. HCS is in a tough spot... how do they increase pvp activity without the outcry? Study the successes and failures. Determine the root causes of the failures and try to figure out how to mitigate it. Your statement is interesting... "It's a way for some players to make a living" yet it's "dying." So what's your idea to make it vibrant without ruining the game for others?

 

Bounty hunting is failing because most don't post bounties... why? I do my part but most don't even when I offer to pay them to bounty the player.

 

Stealing gold is fun and can still be done. No one asked to remove this function so not sure why this is even brought up. Protection was changed so gold can be stolen regardless of protection.

 

I disagree with you about PVP is fun. I find it fun only when both parties are online "dancing". Hitting an offline target is shooting fish in a barrel especially in "normal" pvp. Calling that fun is disingenuous... It's easier to hit an offline target that is not prepared for an incoming attack (which most players aren't sitting in stam gear or with no buffs) then hitting monsters.

 

I think some find it fun because it gets other players mad... kinda sad that enjoyment is at the expense of other players. The real ones are the ones that want a true challenge.

 

I'll walk through your points, as I agree with many of the things that you've said. First, PVP in a way is dying, but I know plenty of lower level players who still use it to fuel their FS life (it's not the only thing, but one of many). I will definitely agree that HCS should study the successes and failures of the past (seasons, smasher medal for all hits, PVP ladder and the many iterations that mostly are failtures, etc.). I've tried to suggest items in the past that might increase activity, but not turn to either extreme (non-PVP vs full-PVP). 

 

I agree that most people don't place bounties. Some people understand that PVP is part of the game (many of the players that I talk to that get hit whether I'm stealing gold or completing dailies). Others have hit back, and then there are others who feel that it's not worth their cost to post. Each player has had a different experience while playing, so there are plenty of reasons, but it might be worth it for HCS to look into ways to increase the BB activity. They could bring back the auto-post bounty system once again with some modifications. They could make it easier/cheaper for players to be posted while finding a way to increase the reward given (so it doesn't have to 100% come out of the posting players pocket). I'm not sure I'd be in favor of bringing back the uncapped bounty loss, or the minimum stam usage per hit rule. 

 

Gold-stealing was just brought up as part of PVP. It's one of the reasons that players partake in PVP. I'd personally like to see thievery / master thief rates increase slightly, but that being said, I'm perfectly content leaving it the way it is. 

 

And I agree with what you said about when you find PVP fun, and I would completely agree. PVP isn't about the hitting an offline/unbuffed player. However, that is still part of the game. While no one can be buffed all the time, or compete against someone using composing potions and fully covered, it's still a risk within the game, and I respect that. I don't think that risk should be taken out, unless that's truly how HCS wants the game to move forward.

After reading this half nonsense, half biased-lobbyistic perspective with alot of discussion going on by people critizing it fairly and bringing good thing to the table I have to conclude this.

 

GvG & PvP Ranges should not be touched as of now, they are balanced as far as lvl 500 goes, I cannot say how it changes further out but if ya annoyed so few players are in the 700-2000 lvl range maybe you should just go down to a lvl where more people are if yer so desperate to GvG/PvP....

 

 

As a wolf follows the herd of deer one too needs to adjust accordingly, if truly you are a realist and not just an elitist may-believe player.

 

 

Season would be nice to have once in a while, but if not thats fine by me too, I loved it and I got a medal out of it too, with mah lvl not a very easy thing to come by getting into crystal tier.

Daily PvP quests would be great, but I would include a checkable box in the preference for players who do not want to have that sort of quests. Make these quests scale a bit higher with rewards so people wont just check the box because they abolish that game aspect.
