#868931 Guild Chat Improvement

Posted by yotwehc on 16 May 2014 - 01:04

+1, not sure why it was even needed..so many major aspects of the game -arena,pvp,gvg that really need to be fix are being put on the back burner for this..why ? this does very little for the overall state of the game...fix the major probelms that have needed to be fixed for a long long time...many have waited patiently for months and months..even years for arena, pvp and gvg to get fixes..only to have this be a priority.??..much confused..

I think the arena/pvp/gvg "fix" is not as easy as you think. What exactly is broken? Ask 5 players and you will get 5 different answers. How many always get disappointed when a new "fix" is released. Wasn't the current ladder a "fix"? Wasn't limiting gvg attacks to 25 a "fix"? Just sayin. Easy to say fix it. But there is no consensus to what exactly needs to be fixed.

#864284 Suggestions regarding XP Gain. (Has been diverted slightly into Accelerated l...

Posted by yotwehc on 21 April 2014 - 16:06

Although I'm all for new player retention,  think these ideas will have the opposite effect. Things have been made so much easier for us newer players and what good can come of disenfranchising the oldest and most loyal players.

"As things are, a non-donor has literraly no chance to reach EOC in the current setup of FS. Even with these changes, it's pretty close to impossible save for possibly 3-5 years of CONSTANT activity, even then highly unlikely."

So what is the magic number? How many years should it take for a new player to reach EOC? What happens when a large portion of the playing community reaches eoc? do you think they will continue to login daily waiting for new content to roll in? Once they get in the habit of not logging in so often, I'm afraid this is where we start to lose players as they ween themselves off the addiction known as FS. As a non-donator myself, I would probably have made EOC by now but because of titans, GE's, composing and other distractions, I haven't made it but I'm ok with it. I'm hoping other players also do other things in game other then leveling.

As it is now, it's never been easier to fly through levels. It's kinda sad really... HCS spent many hours and resources building this story line and adventures but how much time do we actually spend to get into it? We now have 2x events and global uber pots that were never available for the original EOC'rs. Now the proposal for yet more 2x pots and uber xp structures so we can skip through even more content. So 2x (2x event) * 2-3x (GE uber pots) * 2x (new double xp pot being proposed) = 8-12x xp so players can bypass as many levels as possible and get to EOC. Is that what we really want?

I don't know what the right answer is but it seems to me that getting everyone to EOC as quickly as possible is not the right solution. Getting new players to "get" the vast number of activities (not just leveling) available and to find their favorite niche I feel is the most important... not the easy button. Just MHO.

+1 to this.
we now have players over 2k.
i think they ust be gonna surprise us and drop 1800 and 2000 buffs on us all in one go :D

I say skip 1800. Definitely need 2k but what? Then do every 400 or 500 from 2k forward. We are gonna run out of buff ideas if we keep at every 200. Lol.
We are also supposed to be getting potion only buffs.

#858524 Radical PvP Rework

Posted by yotwehc on 29 March 2014 - 06:59

Main problem here is lack of interest.  Like I suggested start with tutorial for new players and then add an update later on for everyone.

Of course everyone was once a leveler and still is even if they PvP.  If you gain a level you leveled you are a leveler.  Do I gain levels frequently as other levelers no, but I do level once my levels are low yes.  I'm a leveler but I'm not a fast leveler.

"Risk free" would defeat the whole purpose again.  PvP is not risk free every take you hit is a risk, simple fact.  You can lose 5 levels or none.  Depending on how you handle and play the game is the factor.  If you are going to cry and moan about the 5 levels you lose then PvP isn't for you.  PvP is risk and that risk has to be shown.  It's an aspect of a game and fun as another too. There are a lot of good ideas out there and if BG just puts them all together I'm sure there will be an update that will be favored by the majority of the community.

Fair points...

The key though is if you want people to try something, but folks are afraid of the risk, eliminate the risk for just one event and see how it goes... say even 5% of the population get addicted to the play style, you've had a big success. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here...

AS you point out, any update favored by the majority I am all for... if I'm in the minority for this "radical" idea, then so be it... let the good times roll.

+1 to Rye's comment.

@yotwehc With the farming of "bunnies" could you please clarify what bunnies are?

@Wind those ideas sound very nice. I'm sure there would be a buffer or some sort for the new players who join, so they can learn form the tutorial.  After that love the ideas.

Bunnies (to me) are basically anyone not playing the pvp aspect. Folks like to talk about honor and getting their bounty medals or smasher medals the "real" way. Clearing naked EOC'rs just didn't feel right and was a sham for the smashing medal. How is farming easy targets honorable and playing real pvp. All I was suggesting is you get more points for beating a good pvp player vs beating a joke. I think that would be far more impressive and deserving of big points. Thanks for not devolving into name calling and personal attacks which I know the honorable pvp community never does.

#858167 Titan Update and Bounty Board Feedback

Posted by yotwehc on 27 March 2014 - 17:42

Ok, yes, yes I know, my conspiracy post was junk, more of a joke even, but the point is, the timing and direct tweaks that are proposed have come shortly after someone got butt hurt on the BB, I get th at.. But what I find problematic is guys that rarely to never bounty hunt or PvP in a real way are trying to effect changes in a section of the game that has worked, now change it to soften it up.. ? Guys like RJ calling chazz's post ridiculous? Does RJ even PvP or clear or take part in any part of the game that has to do with attacking another player? These are not attacks but merely a point out that it is ok if someone that rarely or never plays a part of the game can criticize someone that plays this game for the item that directly affects the reason they play the game? tan scripting

I say leave the BB alone, if you're going to change it remove the multiple bounties..

PvP ladder if you are going to remove the ability to bounty rather than overhaul and fix it then drop xp loss and soften that as well..

+1 Titan scripting update

And yes as said before, I like where the road map is going with GvG, that can help fix some of the issues we have with players wanting to soften PvP..

Bring back the smasher ticks for ALL 100 stam PvP attacks..

Let's hear the voices of the players that actually play the game for the PvP aspect, rather than those that rarely or never play the PvP part of the game, PvP and previous to that GvG were the reasons Iplay the game, like many others stating how they feel about leaving the game over completely killing the PvP aspect of the game over changes that should not even be considered..

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I try to stay out of the forums, but it is where all the changes are made and i cannot sit by and let even more crap changes come to the game.

So you only want input from people who participate in the activity? You don't care to have non participants chime in? The changes suggested by HCS take away the formidable control certain guilds hold over the BB. I would never try else I stir the hornets nest of certain guilds for breaking unwritten rules I never knew existed. With the change, I would be willing to give pvp a shot but no, you don't want us non-hardcore pvprs. Interesting... Or is this another "junk" or "joke" post?

#857792 Having fun at Composing?

Posted by yotwehc on 26 March 2014 - 20:59

Perhaps now that the cows are looking at scripting in titan hunting, they can look at it in composing too :)

I would be very disappointed if this were true... I used to keep track of the top composers back when the medal notifications used to work... At the time, the top 5 composers were all losers like myself almost constantly online. All are, in my opinion, seriously sick and addicted to FS but very above board players. It would make me very sad to hear if any of them did something like this.

This was in no way an immediate sort of idea, just something to consider for the future.  It must be the way I write, but you seem to take many of my ideas as if they are calls to immediate action - that's not the case here and rarely is it with any idea I propose - it's for mulling over and for possible consideration when it's time to add more projects to the queue/roadmap.  It may though truly be the negatives outweigh the positives in this situation.  My fairness meter just didn't seem to find the current situation terrific, thus posed the thoughts for how can we improve it - if we truly care about the development and opportunities of new players?

More likely, it's the way I read (not well) :)

If a player is truly new, I don't think they really realize what these events are all about. Most of the new players in my guild don't even bother participating as they can't see the upside.

Really, I think it's the little things... stop the beat down on new players, get mentoring done, stop with the huge frag stashes. It's just my 2 cents as I said... Sure, add it to the future roadmap but I personally don't see a lot of upside. Nothing against you.

#855246 Quite dissapointed

Posted by yotwehc on 14 March 2014 - 02:16

Could we have a HCS Forum that lists and explains new features in the game like:

- Composing
- Buff Market
- Global Events
- New Medals
- Etc

Right now you have to dig for information and its always amazing to me the number of players who are even active who don't understand how features work. Just the other day I had a player say they never use the Buff Market, because they couldn't find L175 buffs - a simple, quick explanation and they're now happy as a clam.

These are not covered in the Official Guide. Right now the best information on Composing is on the Wiki, thus the forum could be very brief note of the concept and then a link to the Wiki.

Not sure it might be good to lock these forums to only HCS staff with one open spot for people to ask questions, as when there's a lot of dialogue it can be distracting and each explanation could just encourage folks to seek other means for more detailed help.

The explanations really don't have to be elaborate. I know I'm wordy, but I'd be happy to help with drafts and I'm sure I could find a few more players willing to help if that was of any help.

Not sure about the other portions you mentioned but have you seen the wiki for composing? Kudos to whomever wrote it. Not sure a forum or even the USFG could do what that wiki does

#854823 Suggestion: Additional Servers

Posted by yotwehc on 12 March 2014 - 20:00

I can see the harm this has the potential to do. But being as I've been THAT guy who comes back to the game 4 yrs later and finds that there is NO WAY I can possibly earn a few medals and it would take 5+ yrs to reach EOC even with epic pots/etc. Seeing players almost 2000x your level when you start and starting with such little amounts to get you started. (the booster packs and the epic quests do help alot IF the new player has someone to tell them about it. I've helped several players thru the quests and helped them to receive promo codes simply because they've played for months or years and still hadnt used them).

The way I see your point of view... I left the game... I'm back but I'm behind now... Let's start over... forget about the guys who stayed and played. Their loyalty means nothing.

Also consder, EOC players did the leveling the hard way. We get it so easy now... We benefit from the epic pots, the promo codes, 2x events, etc...

Making the game easier to get to EOC would further disenfranchise our best and most loyal players. I just see this as the wrong direction and if a new players only goal is EOC without spending a dime and wanting to do it faster then anyone else... is that the kind of player we want?

#854808 Suggestion: Additional Servers

And I genuinely enjoyed that. There was a certain novelty towards it, and I was a bit disappointed when it got taken down. But the fact that it was up once, means that it wasnt too challenging to implement to make it a possibility again.

But as Ked mentioned, it would require double the administration resources and development as various issues come up... Sure HCS can probably absorb the extra work since the game has been so rock solid with little to no down time...

As I've said in other threads, lets keep plugging away at the roadmap... give some love to other aspects of the game including arena/gvg/pvp. let's keep moving forward.

I still see new players coming in but they probably are saddened by the fact that they shout out in global and no one responds (saw that yesterday - sent user PM but I think they ended up quitting). We, as a community should do our part. Easy to tell HCS to spend money and advertise but are we doing what we can to get new players to "get" this game? I try... but like email, 90% of the new players end up being spam (you know what I mean if you've tried to help)

Keep throwing the ideas out... I'm the resident grump that will poke holes regardless of whether I like them or not :)

#854790 Suggestion: Additional Servers

Posted by yotwehc on 12 March 2014 - 16:08

I think it's a bad idea. It will split the community and make the population even smaller. I personally wouldn't play on it. Then again, others who are frustrated that they are not in overall top 100 would quit playing current FS since they have "no chance" of making top 100. Seems OP argument is a bit contradictory. Game population slowly dying yet impossible to make top :/

As someone else pointed out, advertising is key, but it should be smart advertising. By now, we know the personalities that tend to love this game. Advertise to those folks. Is there a OCD anonymous website? We could pick up so many players :)

#853986 Development Roadmap (Updated 7th Mar 2014)

Posted by yotwehc on 07 March 2014 - 20:14

Imagine the RP machine the typical FS exploiters could make out of that one :P  Anytime I think on a fresh idea the first thing I do is imagine how people will try to exploit it.

ok then reduce the amount so guilds fighting back pay the current amount and attacking guilds that don't fight back paying only a fraction (half to a third) :)

Just trying to really reward the truly great gvg guilds. The end of quarter tournament would be good unfortunately not feasible since the top 16 guilds may not have targets in each other's range hence killing my idea... but man it would be so epic...
