#847174 COMPOSING! 2 Structures +2 Buffs + New frag type + Guild upgrade Could be...

Posted by yotwehc on 07 February 2014 - 19:02

I actually think that the time it takes to gain levels (So far) is fine as there are only 50 levels so make people work for them. But composing is basically guild based so why not move it more towards guilds? Could be added to the end of the dev road. They need some more people so they can pump out this stuff faster lol.

I have to disagree, it's not guild based. It's an option but not guild based. Your idea has a lot of merit but I think it hurts the little guys. It also looks like it would take a lot of dev time. Let's give the arena, gvg, eoc and pvp folks some love. As composing is now, it's been a boon for lower level players as an easy way to make fsp. I fear a side effect of your suggestion is a drop in demand and less gold for the new players.
Above all else, I would prefer the focus being on getting and keeping new players. In GC today, a new player ended up quitting out of frustration of getting past lvl 40. I would imagine not too many players quit because they can't make enough composing potions but I could be wrong

People complain game is too easy then now they complain composing is too hard :/
I think this hurts the smaller guilds. It's working well enough as it is. Let's go to the dev roadmap and give other parts of the game some love

#846019 NEW SERVERS/ OLD/NEW PLAYER SEPERATIONt

Posted by yotwehc on 03 February 2014 - 15:36

It should take you a week to add a second server.... I honestly feel like you just dont care about fallensword.
Other games can add servers weekly....they make a ton of money off the same players every few servers and add new players who will actually start playing because they are not on the same server as someone 3 years + ahead of them (minimum for fallensword).

As for it not mattering....I dont know why or how you play but I only play games to be competitive and I wouldnt even start a server if there was a lv 100 on it... maybe 50...but 1900+ ...I feel the majority of serious MMO players would feel likewise which essentially makes fallensword a dead game only staying open as people have put money into their accounts so HC cant close it.

Oh and as for Eldevin being crap...of course thats just my opinion...I think runescape is crap ....betterthan Eldevin but still crap...I havnt played it but I probably think WOW is crap too...so Eldevin could be succesful... just in my opinion it is crap.
I personally dont like all this running around mini quest nonsense....give me 1 objective....to become stronger...I neither care about graphics nor a story I will skip as much of that as possible....I want competition and the opportunity to out think/strategize the opponent.

Based on what you say, sounds like you won't stick around even if HCS builds a new server. Personally, I don't see the point. I get a lot of help and guidance from the high levels or experienced players. Sure, some are crotchety grouches, some won't share any info, but there are far many more that will. I would like to see more consistent performance of what we have and the mentorship program spruced up. I just don't see how a new server that splits the gaming population helps at all.

any chance for the buff market gold to be deposited directly in your bank? If your going to try to sell buffs while offline (I think that is the intent of this new system), then I think we should fully embrace it.

Bad idea. No need to buy deposits anymore. Just have friend buy my 2,000,000 qf buff

Posted by yotwehc on 31 January 2014 - 06:37

It's fair how it is, no more waiting to be buffed and sending requests too 50 people who are on auto-refresh with no response when I want to hunt....I want to hunt...I don't want to be straggling around FS looking for a damn buffer and anyone who does is cracked out in their mind...the easier it is to get buffs the better it is for the game the games complicated enough for newcomers...so streamlining this can only do good...staminas staminas it shouldn't matter if your online or not your using your stamina if that means you don't play for days...who the hell cares? that's your stamina...you should be able to use it how you please

WOW. The way you put it, it boggles the mind that this game survived for 6 years ( or is it 7?). Either way others have put it quite succinctly, it has become less social but it is the way things will be :(

Disappointed with the automation. A compromise would have been better. People like to liken it to the auction house... so have it such that everyone has x number of slots to start and with upgrades, they could buy more... If I started the game today, I would have not become social at all as I would not have to communicate with anyone. oh well... :(

#842211 Composing fragments

Posted by yotwehc on 18 January 2014 - 20:56

a fragment converter is a very good idea, I am constantly running out of common and rare fragments, yet have an abundance of Crystal, SE and LE fragments, which frankly I am never going to be able to use due to how the potion creating system works. Therefore, to make them useable, breaking them down to gain common fragments would be pretty nifty.

Yes I can go and horribly sublevel to gain common fragments but frankly I do not believe this was the original intention when composing was first conceived, in fact I know this to not be true. Furthermore whilst on a hunt, even with a Find Item 1000 potion running, I am extremely unlikely to get sufficient common items whilst hunting to be able to continue even making 20xp junk potions and this is annoying.

With all due respect, the unintended consequence of how it was implemented was a net positive in my opinion. I have a party of low level players that farm frags and are ecstatic that they are gaining a dot or 2 on every hunt. If we were to allow conversion, this would take a nice income flow away from them. Even our #1 composer sucks it up and goes down to the lvl 900's to farm frags using lvl 500 pots... it's a small equalizer giving the little guys a chance whlst hurting the bigger guys just a wee bit. I vote to keep things as they are.

#841916 Composing fragments

Posted by yotwehc on 17 January 2014 - 18:29

That's currently what I do.

Since composing started common items on the auction house at reasonable prices have pretty much vanished.  180.000 gold (1fsp) for 6 common frags in general (a level 101-400 item fully forged) if I'm remembering how the forged bonus works correctly isn't worth it.

Maybe you have more common item drops up where you're at over level 1,000.  From around 400 to 740?  NOTHING I'm aware of yet drops a common item.  I have to travel back to level 433 to find a creature that drops a common item consistently.

It goes back to the concept of common vs rare.  Everything drops rare items in this level range and it shouldn't. There should be more common items spread thoughout the game.

I burn through commons at a ridiculous rate and have to buy as many as I can AS WELL as go on frequent common hunting trips. Is this a bad thing? For me, yeah... I'd rater get oodles of commons during my regular hunt but even that is not enough to satisfy my burn rate. I will tell you that it has been a boon for a lot of lower level players who could care less about fragging (right now). I have spent a small fortune buying as many as I can (to delay the inevitable as I will have to go frag farming in a week or so).

our #1 fragger is using his global pot and huge stam bank to pick up commons at a lower level... if he can do it, I think the rest of us can. Sure we could all use more commons but in the grand scheme of things, this has been more of a positive (especially for low levels) then a negative (high levels) and I don't think needs changing.

Clever, you used sarcasm, you'll have to teach me one day.

Seriously, certain things should be easy, stop being so elitist.  Finding buffs is not fun, it shouldn't be a challenge.

The danger of sarcasm is no one knows when your serious... I have had more then one occasion where people would PM with something like: "Thank you... I think"

Don't do it... don't fall to the dark side...

I'm not being elitist... I straddle the fence but in the big picture, my fence is nothing. I have said, I love the low prices and how easy it is to find buffs now. Before this change, it was much harder even WITH FSH to find the buffers but as others have said, we have grown spoiled and i think it's true. Would I genuinely like my sarcastic changes? Heck yeah! Is it good for the game, Heck NO!

I will keep playing regardless but making this automated is very detrimental imo. As most on the forums know, I just LOVE pvp (NOT). But I will give them kudos as they are by far the most social in the game. They HAVE to build relationships with buffers as they have to be buffed often. This is one key for levelers to be social and automating is going to hurt a key strength of the game (IMHO)

On other MMORPG games, I like to play as a lone wolf... no ties to anyone... just causing trouble... it is near impossible to do that in FS... with automation, it will be easy... don't have to PM anyone anymore. It forced me out of my shell and now look at me... almost as bad as belaric/egami (boom!)

I don't see why people are against automating this.  It would be so much easier.  One of the reasons I stopped playing a few years ago was because of the effort required to find buffs, it's a pain in the arse.  Anything that makes this part of the game easier is a good thing.

Yes! Easy is good... we need more change! Make titans don't move at all! Frags need to be x10 their current rate! Need 5 times XP event every other week! Need stronger Global Pots as lvl 500 is not enough!

I'm with you!

Let's do it do it do it!

If that person selling 5 buffs for 5k gold was on auto-buff they would run out of stam quickly and then you get your turn. Or you can compete with them.

So what is your price? I will find 10 buffers cheaper then you :)

About interaction, well, most of the time it doesn't go further then "thank you for the buffs" and "have a good hunt". So, I don't see much of an issue. And ofcourse after buying my hunting buffs I don't have time to chat and at the time I am ready the seller is mostly offline anyway.

I keep a list of the generous and low cost buffers. I know their names. I search them out and ask them if they will be online to PM me within the next hour. If we make buff sales like the auction house, do you remember who you bought your potions from? I don't... lowest price gets it. No thank you's are sent either.

In the back and forth with the sellers, I have met some pretty cool folk... I guess you haven't... Not everyone does.

I don't like selling buffs so this change doesn't effect me negatively... I'm just taking a big picture view and am seeing this taking the game 1 step backward as I see the strength is the community.

Please don't make this worse by automating further. Never understood those complaining about robots but now I finally do. As a buyer, I am loving these low prices but as a player who loves the social aspect, this makes me sad. I think overall, it will be detrimental, but who knows, it could be wildly successful. To me, the more selfish are the ones that want the automation. (I missed a sale!!! So, someone else got it. Like the auction house, you snooze, you lose)

Shorter: awesome job HCS!

Have to agree, we are sometimes our own worst enemies. And a new set could've been introduced later. I couldn't vote on the original poll about changing stats since for purely selfish reasons, I wanted it but for precedence sake, this just encourages more pitchfork and torches.

What's done is done.

Really loving all the activity. Keep up the great work. Don't let the Debbie downers get to you!

#836622 Buff Marketplace

Posted by yotwehc on 01 January 2014 - 21:58

My question to the Cows is what does it matter if a Buffer is online or off line. It would be easier for you ( the Cows ) to make the upgrade work 24/7 as it only requires the data to run one upgrade. In the long run the players are the ones who benefit. As they can buy buffs 24/7. A player can set their prefrennces to either sale buffs when on and off line, or only when online. They list their prices, have a section for them to make buff packages with prices, and to beat the pvp players who want that gold list 2 or 3 buffs per point, it goes directly into your bank, not your purse. To simple, so the good idea's i have seen to this point will be turned down, or ignored. But hey, at least we sometimes get to speak out here in our own way.

Awesome ideas. I won't have to login to game anymore. Just let my buffs sell them selves. And having them go directly to bank? Yes!!! Now I don't have to buy those expensive gold deposit upgrades and those nasty mean pvp players will never get my gold as I will have my friends on standby to buy my quest finder buffs for 1 million gold. Or maybe just skip that and let us just deposit anytime, any amount. I think we should get auto hunt feature too. And get auto titan kill. This will solve the problem when those picky titans don't spawn when we are online 24/7. Anything else I'm missing? We have to add to this solid idea so none of us will never have to login again.
