I would guess this is a temporary change, because Bildor is running around the maps giving away epics to players that find him. 

and why does this require a name change?  It does not.  As already stated, there have been countless requests for name changes refused because names are permanent but now somebody gets their name changed just for jollies?  Reeks of favoritism for certain players and taints the objectivity of the cows.  Period.

Just to be the grinch here, I disapprove of this ...

 

Plenty of players have historically asked for a name change - and been categorically refused by the cows. Sometimes, these requests were just to fix an in-haste spelling mistake, but still denied. Same with spelling mistakes in guild names ...

 

Now that this can of worms has been opened, I hope name/guild changes that are just spelling mistake ones will be looked at favorably ?

 

(I still agree with refusing to change names to something completely different - for whatever reason that may be)

Totally agree.  This name change is flat-out blatant favoritism by the cows.  Makes one wonder what other favoritism has been shown to this player and/or others.

Perhaps a pot with a one or two week expiration date would be the happy medium.  Longer time frame to use it at your convenience but still must be done within a certain time or it's lost.

Don't know about anyone else but I'm getting constant lag since the changeover.  Hope that isn't the new normal, especially with Christmas time coming.

5 members of the same guild on the ladder means you have 5 targets and they each have 1.  Looks like a big advantage to the single player to me, especially with Deflect involved.  Matter of perspective and whether or not you want to compete or be handed a gift.

The midnight reset is a bummer. Don't like it at all. Hampers people in different parts of the world composing. Makes deposits difficult for them as well. Also makes hunting difficult to time if they can not make deposits again soon enough to feel safe doing so.

Not sure why the standard resets makes things more difficult for you as I think it makes things much easier.  No more chasing composing reset times only to have them continually changing.  Just instant finish the first ones after the standard reset and carry on.  Same thing applies to gold deposits.  Who actually times their hunt by deposit times?  Everybody I know times them by stam fill and enough RL time to sit through the hunt.  If you know you are going to hunt then don't burn your deposits at the beginning of that day, save them for your hunting time.  Simple and problem solved.

Guildmate sent me a composed pot and now my pack has disappeared.  No slots, no potion, no other items, nothing.  Also no count for pack, just shows /193)

Attempted robbery is still a crime punishable by law regardless of how successful you may be.  A deflected swing still shows the attempt, just not successfully, and should carry a punishment.  Should a deflected hit carry the same punishment as a successful hit?  Maybe, maybe not but if you start trying to classify punishments according to outcome you create a very slippery slope.  How many ways to punish do want to create based on Deflect, losses, stam used, etc.?  While a one size fits all punishment system won't please everyone all the time, it's still the best available option for this game.  I have been bountied for deflects and losses as well as wins but it's all part of the game.  Take it, learn from it and try to do better the next time.

1) Sounds like a REALLY complicated relic system to me.  2) How do existing relics figure into your system?  If I'm defending a relic I can't really be defending my castle can I?  Same goes the other way.  Along the same lines, what happens when I leave my castle to level up, participate in events, etc?  Are you going to abolish relics or leave them?  Will the castles give better or worse bonuses than relics?  Not sure this would really be a quality addition to the game at this point and certainly not worthy of a rush to implement.

OK since im a gvger i give some intel on this:
 

To gvg a guild I need to make sure:

-There are at least 4 members in a guild, preferably at least 1 target for me and 1 target for a co-gvger

-The targets have to be at least active for the last 7 days.

-1 Guildmember has to be atleast been online for the last 24 hours

-They are not protected by PvP proctection.

 

Soo many things to make sure off :P

Been a while since I gvg'ed but since when does pvp protection count in gvg?  If that's the case then something really is broken.

bingo !!, note- players that participate in the new pvp/xp will get a log full of attacks..which they should expect and want to see... , ...those not wanting to participate will have no prowess rating ..no pvp/xp and as long as they dont carry lots of gold, they probably, and should not have to worry about a log full of attacks..as they will not be getting attacked very often..

 

also, to make it even better- bg says somewhere in this thread, that he will be making a toggle so that a person does not have to see a log full of attacks..end of that worry !!..

Actually, if they reset everyone's XP level at certain intervals it will make everyone a fresh target again at every reset so they will be seeing how many times they are getting hit on a regular basis.  I am strongly against resetting XP levels because trading XP will just run rampant but you also bring up another good reason not to reset levels.  Instead of resetting levels just give rewards based on your current XP level and carry on.  If you work hard to get your XP up and keep it there then you will be rewarded for your effort.  If you let it go then you won't be rewarded, or targeted, until you do decide to work for those rewards.  This is the only way to eliminate trading and ensure players that don't want to participate remain a target of low importance.

Lose XP if you lose an attack AND you can be posted on the BB to lose more XP + PvPxp?  I don't see this bringing more players into PvP.  Instead, it will just reinforce the idea to levelers that PvP is too risky for them to get involved in it.

  • As for a PvP set, I think it could be similar to your saved arena setup lists. You wear it once and click a box that says save it. Next time you are attacked, no matter what you are wearing, the saved setup is applied. Possible FSP upgrades to save damage/armor/defense setups? Need to make sure mighty vigor isn't on during saving process. Also notification pops up if you no longer have access to gear through deleveling by.....creature suicide...                                                 

So how exactly would this work?  I can sit around in my stam gain gear but if someone attacks me my shiny pvp gear jumps in to save the day?  If someone is sizing me up for an attack, how will they know what stats they need to account for if they see the stam gear and not the invisible pvp gear?  Added to that you want the option to buy multiple offline sets for defense, armor, etc?  How is the magic gear genie supposed to know exactly which set you want to use to defend this particular attack?  Make a choice, you either get the benefits of stam gear or the benefits of pvp gear, not both.

I"m just responding to Algoa's concern that there might be too much gold thieving.

For sure, with this new system, gold thieving will sky rocket. It's no where near as harmful as xp loss but something needs to be implemented to make certain the thief is inconvenienced. There will be those that won't care if they are a 0 pvpxp thief so the better expert pvp'r you are, the more gold you should be able to steal... BB would knock you down a few pegs.

Posted this in another thread but I'll post it here too since we have some overlap in conversations. -- I keep seeing all these posts about free gold hits in the new system and how everyone will be doing it.  A decent gold hit is rare enough these days with people getting smarter all the time about hiding their gold.  Just how much gold do you think will be out there ready and waiting to be stolen if "everyone" is looking to steal it without repercussions?  Gold thieves weigh risk vs reward and go for the gold while most others opt for the safer side of play.  The penalties for stealing gold are what make most people NOT steal gold.  Without penalties the so-called free-for-all will dry up in about 30 seconds.  Nobody will carry anything more than it takes to buy something for gold or sell it on the marketplace one dot at a time.  Maurybund has already explained that merchants will stop selling items for gold simply because they won't want "everyone" to steal it from them.  Gold theft is an important part of the game but penalties for those thefts are just as important and should remain as part of the game.
