As BG said above, XP events ARE announced - with a weeks notice - whereas GE's etcetera are sprung on us with no warning. I've stated a desire that XP events are done the same way, with no notice, but that isn't going to happen.

 

Stop rushing for the "finish" line - and enjoy the scenery along the way - it's a more enjoyable game that way.

 

 

I dont believe these events are just a spring board to get to "The Finish Line". Enjoying the game is different for everyone, some don't mind being level 200, 500, 900. There is a preference for everything, this type of event makes it easier to get to that scenery most enjoyable to you. Think about it you can make up a few months progress in 1 weekend depending on how prepared or far you wish to go. A pvper eyeing a certain range, a gvger, even a titan hunter looking to access more titans i mean even an arena player has to level to get more setups. This allows people to pursue content a lot sooner then they would, makes the game more enjoyable for them and really will help retain them long term. Like i said there are so many positives to this event.

june 3rd..tomorrow..will arena improvements take place ??..i certainly hope more than just adding arena tokens to arena gets fixed..much more needs fixing- random matchups..no more 16 player tourneys...tourneys  for levels 1200-2000..some way to keep from having to go up against 3 of the top 20 players every single tourney..this is causing many players to give up on arena..make the prizes have value again...lower entry fees...new setups..new moves...new prizes..something drastic needs to happen..arena tokens alone will not help arena in the long run...only for a very short time..pleeeeease fix arena ..dont give it a bandage..

ok..we are hopefully finally going to get arena improves on or near jun 3rd..i am sure the vast majority would agree to the arena tokens idea, and the idea for random matchups (getting sick of seeing the unsportmanlike conduct by a few players, allowing free wins in the first round), lets all hope these get implemented...but that said..it would only be a bandage to an aspect of the game that is hemmorging blood at a rapid pace...

 

somehow the prizes have to get thier value back ? how can this be done-- right now as i type there is a magnifying glass that has been up for many days and for 3 days at 9 gold to enter..has no value at all..decay is not a probelm as seen with this example..9 gold and still nobody wishes to join, i have seen chronos items start at 212k and have to wait many days till below 1k to start..waste of every players time....value of the prizes is the probelm, i repeat --value of prizes is the probelm

 

.....how to fix- first i suggest that for crystal items there should be a category the makes players have to wear all crystal pieces....and the crystal takes damage...thus wearing out and the need for more, and i know that means everyone would have basically the same setups..but at different degrees of damage..something to help the crystal out.

 

.quest items.-  these need new invents..not sure what..but that is the only way quest items can regain value, the newest invents used them but they needed extracts for the invents..thus a major failure since those extracts are hard to come by and those tourneys for them are few and far between.....if none of this can be done- then the starting entry fees need to be lowered dramactailly....or we will still see a super duper slow arena

 

next- no more 16 player tourneys !!!!   they are crippling arena, days and days to fill.....please cows do more than just arena tokens...please do more than random matchups...arena needs it, hoping for some excellent work out of cows on the arena improves....i would love to see just 1 reply from a cow in this thread.....thanks for listening..yodamus

The following areas are now behind schedule can we have a Sitrep on these please:

 

Improve Guild Chat (13th Apr 2014)

Add New Unique Items and Medals to Guild Conflict (23rd Apr 2014)
Improve Quick Buff (30th Apr 2014)
Arena Improvements (12th May 2014)

 

I appreciate you have stated these are estimated finish dates but I have not seen any sign of cow activity on this thread for a long time. A simple acknowledgement and update would be good.

This is why you have an active and a legends listing for each.... one for active people, and one for all-time. Simple. Just like top guilds are based off of.... Base medals off the active listings, enourages more people to pursue it in those regards as well. Maybe having an active top 100 for every top listing as well as finally rolling out a top SE hunter listing we've been waiting on for a while. :3

finally..may 12th has come..arena improvement day...i know it is not going to happen...may not happen this week or month...maybe not even this year....but someone from cows please update the dates so we all have a better idea as to when this is going to come about...all arena players have waited patiently for 3 months ( was to be feb 12th, till chrome crash put date back 3 months) for these much needed improvements,actually have waited close to 2 years for improvements...the arena token thread started in aug 2012......please cows fix arena...it has become sooo slow that players are losing to players that have been booted from the game, many days before the tourney even starts...very bad....many good suggestions..arena tokens need to start soon...arena fixes sooon...maybe this week..maybe this month...someone give us an idea..i feel personnaly very discouraged with arena and the attention it is getting from the cows right now..and i am hardcore arena..top 3 arena players have left the game...i wonder why..give some attention to arena..please...

Deflect on the board makes no sense whatsoever, folks keep crying about how the board is a mechanism for punishment, so then why is deflect an option there? You are on the board for a reason, defend as hard as you want, don't deflect.

Nor does it make sense on the ladder, if you opt-in, be prepared to take hits.

 

GVG and normal play are the only places for deflect. This is a good suggestion that doesn't ask for any change to deflect, just reasonable limitations on where it can be used.

 

In fact, even in normal off-ladder PVP, if an attack is deflected, it should not be bountyable, to me that's equivalent to double dipping. The attack was deflected, what is there to bounty for? To teach a lesson and prevent future attack I'll hear some say, really? Does it work? All it is to any PVP player or gold thief is an invitation for more hits for being overly punitive in what is after all a PVP game! Protect your gold better and you likely will rarely ever be a target for out for the blue hits.

I couldn't agree more.  Deflect is annoying as it is, and it would be nice if it were removed from bounty and ladder hits.  And being bountied for a deflected attack is just lame.  My 2 cents.   ;)

I think a suggestion was made a while back about giving increasing numbers of loyalty tokens per day depending on how many consecutive days you had logged on. That could get out of hand though.

 

Edit: one idea to increase activity without promoting the use of multis might be a small global event every week. Something that doesn't require much stam or time and has a small reward.

Yeah, I hinted that a gold increase or twice a month on usually low activity days (Mon-Thurs) cows randomly pick to have 10%-25% Gold or xp increases as well as increased PvP Prestige on that day to promote activity for those on each day. Scatter 5-10 days a month for various things like this. Would really see a boost to the game. A lot MMOs have xp/gold weekends at least once a month, I think this kind of thing is a really good way to help the game. That, and the coding is already there for the xp events. I think changing the values to a 1.1-1.25 on creature xp amounts would be less of a hassle than a global usually is. :D

Brice has excellent ideas and others have contributed cool positive input, let's keep that going and get away from dwelling on the cheats, as it seems to me it derails the topic a bit.  Definitely pointing fingers here isn't productive - submit that as a ticket.  Yes, I'm also guilty of participating in the derailing and my apologies to Brice on that.

Fleshing out the idea of randomization seems positive though.  

I respect the ideas here even though I'm not an arena player, only a dabbler and want us to get back to the positive.

Yes, the only way to cheat in arenas is to have friendly 'bunnies' join arena matches (this happens a lot especially on matches with lucrative prizes - Brewer's Art, Well Read, and Twinkle Toes).

 

Randomizing first round starting match-ups is fairly easy to do, so I'm a bit surprised this wasn't implemented in the first place.

 

An indicator to show guildmate names/the number of guildmates who joined an arena match is also needed...
