#941283 PvP Season Update Completed

Posted by shindrak on 25 July 2015 - 12:14

After understanding new pvp ... it seems just stamina consuming aspect .. the more stamina you spend the higher rank you get... looks like boring and dead in short term

and please HC's dont tell me this is not constructive feedback! you know better than your players thats why you made this update on your own.

Suggesting something is just waste of time because you won't do the original idea exactly...i can see that from last arena update and this new pvp update

Just an idea, but...

Since PvP Season is such a stamina either, why not add XP Gain on it? (Of course, also XP Loss).

No idea about how the formula could work, maybe something along those lines:

XP from creature from your AL * 30 (if the target is offline for 1+ hours, less than 10 buffs active and 1+ Epics equipped)

OR

XP from creature from your AL * 50 (if target is not offline for more than an hour, more than 10 buffs actives and none Epics equipped)

-

If that makes any sense, HCS could create an entire new batch of PvP buffs, allowing something similar to AL, LIB, OK, Stalker...Don't know, it's just an idea.

How is this any different than what we had before?

With less targets, the same exact people will hit you even more often now, and any progress you make will most likely be reset in little to no time. This system already requires heavy stamina use as it is

Srsly? deleting my post is what you do on constructive critisism?

Ok let me elaborate:

The step you now took is actually a step back to the 2008 ladder. This will not solve ANY of the problems on the ladder. You actually created new ones.

What you created:

- Few PvPers fighting each other farming the soon to come rewards

- Truces, Alliances and Non-Agression pacts will be formed just like it used to be on the 2 ladder versions before

- High lvls dominating the ladder, farming lower levels

- No reflection to the actual PvP. Im a PvPer and I refuse to partake in such a farce. Alot PvPers will make the same decision and not partake, making this an even less active ladder than the last system.

- No reflection on PvP skill and setups, here just wins the guy with the highest lvl.

+New way to get even richer for the Higher lvls depending if the rewards will be useful

+More Stamina will be used overall for PvPing

+A small Money sink

#940964 PvP Season changes coming today

Posted by tuvok77 on 24 July 2015 - 12:42

Whats the point now with seasons anyway?

Wasnt your key points:
No-Opt out
Reworked PvP mechanic of the ladder
Reworked stam usage

You just made a pvp ladder of the 08 days, with a fancy new name and a bit splitted facade. But in the end its the same ladder as it was in the 08 days when the high lvls dominated it through truces and paying to be top. GREAT JOB.

#893106 FINAL SOLUTION for BOTH parties

Posted by hittokiri on 07 October 2014 - 17:03

it has been years since I last visited the forum

PvP with NO XP LOSS is the worst idea I have ever heard that was mentioned in FS

if you are afraid of PvP with XP LOSS then you have 2 options in FS to still do PVP:

  • go play the PvP Arena, there is NO XP LOSS for you
  • go play GvG, there is NO XP LOSS for you

leave PvP with XP LOSS, you crippled PvP over the years and the pvp updates are proof of that

I am a leveler, do not take part in PvP, did a lot of GvG in the past because I choose to PvP with NO XP LOSS

fallen sword gives you the option to play PvP with XP LOSS (ladder, normal pvp, bounty board) and PvP with NO XP LOSS (arena, gvg)

for a PvPer removing XP LOSS from PvP is like for me as a LEVELER removing XP GAIN from LEVELING

both things would destroy the game and upset pvpers and levelers

forcing XP LOSS on arena and GVG is WRONG

forcing NO XP LOSS on ladder, normal pvp, bounty board is WRONG

it is no wonder that many pvpers and some levelers are against this NO XP LOSS because if you use your brain a little you will notice what a bad thing that is

do not just think that the NO XP LOSS will affect PvP (bouny board inactive, who would waste money to post an attack if there is no punishment, constant attacking because of no punishment, ......), it will affect many other aspects of the game (think of AH prices, think of marketplace listings, think of the gap between new players and EOC getting bigger => decline in new players staying, EOC should be hard to reach but with NO XP LOSS there will be many at EOC, and many other reasons why NO XP LOSS is a bad thing for the game, use your brain and you will find out)

it is no wonder that many players are against the NO XP LOSS because some are using their brains, make a voting in game and NO XP LOSS will not get accepted because the mayority here in FS uses their brain

this NO XP LOSS idea can only get accepted if there is NO VOTING in the game

if this bad idea of NO XP LOSS gets officialy accepted then I will be one of many to quit, others will adapt, others will quit after seeing the terrible consequences the the NO XP LOSS, others will be happy BUT FACT is: there will be less players due to "long-year" members qitting

Nikita90

how is pvp'ing not senseless clicking then?

as a leveler you have to get all your buffs figured , sort out good leveling gear find out where to hunt what to hunt etc etc

as a pvp'er you have to get all your buffs figured , sort out good offensive gear find out who you can take out with a certain setup etc etc

now please tell us what makes the exp loss so exiting to you? that helps out on grim his question earlier aswell.

this is just my opinion of things i do not represent anyone else it's just the way how i experience things at this very moment

-----------------------

PVP is the only thing in the game that forces interaction. you can level all day and nobody cares. you can make potions all day and they will sell in the ah. YOU can't attack somebody and not expect a response, wether that response be a bounty, a hit back or losing 5. its waking up after being bountied and losing that XP that gets the heart beating. its the wins and losses that you can brag about in guild chat. its thanking friends, allies, and guild members for buffing you on the ladder and on the boards.

hunting is very mundane in comparison. 99% of the time all that is required is the hunting setup you've used for levels, bunch of easily purchased buffs, and hit hit hit until your stamina dwindles down. the only 1% is when a quest confuses you

Posted by uncola on 22 September 2014 - 19:55

When I was level 1353, not so long ago, I decided to partake in pvp and RISK my beloved experience to gain Prestige for that 10% boost. In the process that took 6 month, I lost 38 levels, Got 100 stam’ed on the bounty board, and got called a bully for hitting 10 stam hits every 3 days as suggested for prestige. For 6 years I leveled and have never took a piece of gold or experience from anyone. The last 9 month I have been portrait as a “bully” berated by the community. That’s disappointing how people and developers feel about pvp, coming from a person that only pvp’ed for 9 months this should stick to you all.

Get rid of Experience loss, be my guest; however, get rid of …

1. Honor, Bastion, Deflect, and all the other pvp buffs that come with it.

(be sure to replace them of the skill tree will seem a bit anorexic)

2.Bounty Board needs to go as well. Eliminate it along with the medals.

-(Every one how has smasher medal and bounty board medals losses them)

-(Be sure to reimburse all players that used stamina to attack others as an apology for wasting stamina, time, and effort earning what they have today.)

3. PvP potions have to go; that includes special containers. That Anti deflect 400 and many others are no longer needed. No one will need to use them to protect them selves since there is no loss in experience, why bother buying them. Just get hit exchange rating and be done with your day.

Ok, so to the part that you guys want to see. “ Why is experience loss important?”

Name a “pvper” that will never level. I bet you can’t name any, they all level since they lose experience and they want better weapon set ups to continue to pvp.

Now name a “leveler” that will never pvp. Im not going to name any one but you all know them and  many are going to respond negatively about pvp and they don’t know anything about it. So, now these levelers since there is nothing else they will do, will hit EOC then the demand for content. it will increase. Eventually we will hit the level 3000 barrier then 4000 (hypothetically speaking).

Leave both Leveling and Pvp alone. Focus on other aspects that will keep players here and give them something to do. Stop with the content 2026-2050 which is next, and implement something else. Try that coliseum thing that’s going around. Open a brand new forum about new things to introduce that doesn’t involve pvp or leveling, those things are ok at the moment. People need a way to spend stamina give them something new and exciting.

Like I always say these are my opinions and I really have no say in what goes on in the game. Do what is right for the game not individuals.

PS: Please leave a comment in the comment section below.  ;)

At the end of the day, it causes too many issues. Yet NONE of you have managed to say why taking XP is more important than PvP Rating. Why do you HAVE to take XP? So you can keep beating someone down? Unacceptable. That kind of behaviour drives people away. Doing it to gain rating still gives you the reason, risk and consequence, just without the ability to ruin someone's game time, and if that is why you want XP loss, to be able to negatively impact someone else's game, then there is something wrong.

Most of the time, beating someone down is done on someone who also beats people down. It doesn't happen very often to people who don't pvp themselves, and if you mean the BB, it never ever happens to someone innocent, since you have to attack to get bountied in the first place.

Rating is just a side-effect for most pvpers, something that comes without anyone really paying attention to it. Therefore it's small reason, no risk, and irrelevant consequece.

I know how you feel about this, but I would like to mention something here. I used to be second in command of FFS for a long time, and I did nothing but level. I was scared of pvpers, since I thought I'd lose 100s of levels if I got attacked... yes, I was that ... uninformed. I was soooo wrong...  pvp is FUN! I started bounty hunting when I got bored at sitting at end of content, and for me, pvp reignited the interest I had lost in the game, and I know it is the same way for plenty of people in the game.

A level is worthless if you never risk losing it. It's the same way as with most things in life. You don't really value things unless you know you might end up losing them. I know I'd get bored the second I knew I never risk losing any xp again.

And again... most of the targets are pvpers themselves anyway. You can't be bountied unless you hit someone.

#890518 PvP XP / XP through PvP

Posted by BadPenny on 21 September 2014 - 23:31

All this bickering is taking away from the merits of this idea.  We should be discussing that, not what is causing the decline in the player base.  Everybody knows it is a plethora of things.... we don't need to debate it at all.

That said, I'm thinking a lot of you misunderstand.  Maybe I do, too, but the way I see this is that Clock is trying to add value to PvP to make it more desirable to the average player.  I don't see this as a bad thing.  Like he said, you're going to be attacked anyway... why not get something if you successfully defend.  PvP XP could very well be the answer.  Surprisingly, that concept is similar to the original way PvP was ranked in FS.... So what's the big deal?  I don't understand all this heat and discontent from both sides...

#890265 PvP XP / XP through PvP

Posted by yotekiller on 19 September 2014 - 16:55

After all the discussions and scenarios it appears we have come down to this - EITHER the new system has no risk, only reward and is therefore only GvG by another name OR the new system adds new rewards to existing PvP and therefore provides more incentive for PvP players to hit anyone that might provide said rewards.
GvG by another name isn't needed and the same result could be accomplished simply by adding new rewards to the existing GvG framework. Adding more incentives for PvP players to hit levelers would only result in great wailing and gnashing of teeth from the levelers. It would not inspire the anti-PvP crowd to try their hand at PvP.
As you can plainly see, neither of these situations would result in a positive outcome for the game so these additions should not be made now or at any time in the future.
