#946313 Potion/Buffs Duration

When using a potion while you have one already active. it resets the duration. 
 
"You successfully used the item!
Note: You already had skill(s) of the same level active. The time remaining on these skill(s) has been reset."
 
Is there a specific reason why this is not the same for buffs? 
 
If not, could we get it to work on a buffs as well...? I don't see any logical reason why it shouldn't...
 
Thoughts?

Just tweaked the prices of the new rewards down a bit - I was thinking they were a little high when we added them actually.

 

Updated costs are:

 

Greater Cloak [Potion] - 5 PvP Ladder Tokens
Prestigious Brew [Bound Potion] - 15 PvP Ladder Tokens
 
I think this is about right :)

is it MAYBE possible to get the "composing" - "UI" when buying potions from the PvP ladder section in the future?

instead of frags we will have tokens to spend !!!

 

PvP Rewards:

PvP prestige 120 min => 15 tokens

cloak 450 min => 5 tokens

 

for EXAMPLE I could choose to buy 1 potion with several "skills" and different durations:

  • 1 pot consisting of PvP prestige 40 min (5 tokens) + cloak 90 min (1 token) => for 6 tokens in total !!!
  • 1 pot consisting of PvP prestige 80 min (10 tokens) + cloak 90 min (1 token) => for 11 tokens in total !!!

what I mean is to let us choose the duration & the skills we want to put in 1 pot (same as with composing)

the longer the duration the more tokens you need to spend & vice versa

 

is this a good or bad idea?

pulling figures out of the air..lets see,  70 players on the ladders, and even up to double that or triple that for those that dont do ladder but pvp..so around 200 players pvp in the game, yes that is a guess..but a pretty darn good one, and it could easily be less than 200..out of probably a few thousand total players still active..that means around 5%..hello, can you do math....did not pull number out of air, i bet i am pretty darn close..remember virtually all of the active players in the game DO NOT READ FORUMS, PARTICIPATE IN FORUMS OR CARE ABOUT FORUMS..so just because many of your pvpers participate in forums does not = to many players pvping in the game

Conserve has always worked as saving the xp and stam of both hitter and defender. I understand it was unintended but please don't change it! BH'ers will use conserve when clearing friendly,  take conserve off with people they don't want to be so friendly to, screw up and forget they have it activated and accidentally save someone they meant to stomp, or try to see how many they can help a friend out with, etc, etc. We have great fun with it.

This was actually a bug that went unnoticed. I'm happy to make it so this is what's meant to happen and update the buff description unless anyone has any major objections?

It was a bug? I love the bug that lasted 8 years ;) It really added a now unintended game dynamic that players could help allies save a little xp and save a little stam of your own. Post a poll if you need. I know most players had enjoyed this aspect of BHing.

 

Does this only seem to happen with bounties? We'll take a look into it this week.

Only on bounties. I can take screen shots as it is something I found today playing.

 

We'll take a look and see if we can reduce the click's required :)

I know the page is a new interface but the tab method, which is now unusable, worked so well on multiple bounties especially under lag conditions. Thanks for looking into all of these game issues Hoof :)

season was "mainly" active because of 2 important things:

1) NEW REWARDS

season had NEW REWARDS ======> which brought season activity !!!

PvP ladder has NO new rewards ====> which brought hardly any activity !!!

Solution: add NEW REWARDS to the PvP ladder TOO =====> to get PvP ladder activity

 

2) BOUNTIES

season had bounties =========> which brought BB activity !!! (over 95%+ of bounties I saw were from season hits & I was often checking the BB)

PvP ladder has no bounties =========> which brought hardly any activity !!!

Solution: add bounties to the PvP ladder TOO =====> to get BB activity

 

ps:

season gave 12 EPIC potions as rewards !!! for gods sake: 12 EPIC potions !!!

 

I opted-out of the PvP ladder after the last reset where I placed 1st: 06:00 21/Aug/2015 You ranked 1st in your PvP Band! You have gained 5 PvP Ladder Token !!!

I spent about 3000 - 3500 stamina + some potions for 5 PvP Ladder Tokens that are not even worth 1 FSP !!!

 

grrrrrrrrrrrr the reward for 1st place on the PvP ladder is NOT even worth 1 FSP !!!

with these kind of rewards you really can not expect any "motivation" or draw activity to the PvP ladder !!!

 

I am going to stay out of the PvP ladder until we get NEW rewards !!!

I'm sorry, but that's always been part of the game. It's just like the monster is forced into being killed whenever you're the hunter, right?

 

As Cal said above, the updates to PVP have really watered it down. I'm not a full-time PVP'er by any means, but I enjoy playing all aspects of the game. PVP is one that I find myself playing less and less because it's not as fun as it once was - no matter which side of the P you are. 

 

Cal is trying to mention above that the opt-out, no XP loss and 3 day cooldown are all watered-down pieces of "updates" to PVP. Opt-out turned the game from a PVP based game where a player could be a target to a small little mini-game within FS called "Ladder" or even "seasons" for 2 weeks. 

 

Most of the older PVP'ers in the game I don't believe supported the ladder implementation either. I know back when it was being discussed, I was against it and had mentioned that it would be dead at some point in time whenever the shininess of the rewards wore off. The players who want the medals will continue to stay on it and just rack up any rewards that would be essentially worthless. 

 

At the end of the day, I don't think the Ladder is great, but it needs ways to fix it. Bigger ranges could, but all that means is most players (not all), will wait until they are at the higher end of the range to get the gear bonuses that you see between level ranges. Once new rewards are implemented, the ladders will be semi-popular for a while, and then fizzle out again once the value of the rewards (potions included) have diminished.

Please put together a list of what you, the PvPer really wants.  Consider the whole PvP community and not how you can get  the upper hand for yourself alone, or your guild.

 

Submit it to Hoof, then see what the coders can do with it. Who knows you might get something that really works.

 

You should also stop all this: I want , I want, I want. You are not alone in PvP but from the way you sound you think you are.

That's why you want to stay within a set level range and pick off the new blood coming up.

 

That's a real pity.  Think of all those EOC players you could go postal on it you only worked a little more. lol

 

 

People should remember that PvP'ers did not want the changes that were made. If you ask alot of us, we'd say we'd undo the last 5+ updates done to PvP.  Each change to pvp has watered it down and hurt that part of the game even further. These changes were primarily made for those looking for protection from the 'evil bully' pvp players.  Big difference.

 

No one should be judged for how they choose to play the game, or what level they choose to be. Leveling is boring. Good for those who find other ways to keep themselves entertained and logged in. Isn't that what we're really after?

One of the common themes of the request for new rewards throughout all aspects of the game seem to be that items lose their value over time as more of each of the items get added to the game. This is less so with consumable items (ie. potions) as they get used up and hence a demand is (generally) always there for them.

 

So I was thinking we could add a new type of equippable item that is essentially only usable for a certain amount of time. By that I mean that once the item has been equipped, a timer is added to it and when that runs out the item is destroyed. The item could still be unequipped and traded once the timer is activated but it would show how long the item had remaining on the item details. This would keep a demand for the items as they would essential be consumed after the timer runs out.

 

Thoughts? :)

I like seeing some gold tournaments added back into the arena too! However, in its current state, I do not see it necessary since you can exchange your tokens for gold. The current problem with that system is that the amount of gold received for tokens is not enough! 200K for 50 tokens? An easy fix would be to convert 200K for around 20 tokens.

 

Some of the item costs are just ridiculous too. For instance a EW1000 Potion of Truth costs 10 tokens! You can buy those at Potion bazaar on most days for about 10K lol

that is not true and you know it !!!

 

to invent 1 helhearts item you need 20 ladder tokens + resources !!!

 

IF you manage to place 1st EVERY TIME the ladder resets then you get 5 tokens, that means the earliest you can get 20 tokens in total is after 4 resets IF you manage to place 1st EVERY TIME the ladder resets !!!

 

as we all know the PvP ladder lasts 1-2 days, so 4 ladder resets would take "about" 4 x 1,5 days = 6 days !!!

 

so after 6 days you would be able to invent 1 helhearts item that currently has a worth 1-3 FSPs according to current AH prices (check the AH to see it for yourself)

and after 3 weeks (21 days = 6 days x 3,5): you would be able to invent 3,5 helhearts items IF you manage to place 1st EVERY TIME the ladder resets !!!

3,5 helhearts items have a value of (1-3 FSPs) x 3,5 = 3,5 - 10,5 fsps according to current AH prices !!!

 

COMPARING rewards from SEASON & PvP ladder after players participated for a duration of 3 weeks:

season lasts 3 weeks (21 days) and gives you 12 EPIC potions !!!

PvP ladder lasting 3 weeks (21 days) gives you 3,5 helhearts items worth 3,5-10,5 FSPs !!!

 

12 EPIC potions have a very high value and not even the "3,5 helhearts items worth 3,5-10,5 FSPs" can compare to 1 single EPIC potion from the season !!!!

 

ps: to get 3,5 helhearts items worth 3,5-10,5 FSPs is only possible IF you manage to place 1st EVERY TIME the ladder resets for a duration of 3 weeks which is very difficult so the "3,5 helhearts items worth 3,5-10,5 FSPs" are the BEST rewards you can get on the PvP ladder BUT the season rewards "everyone" with 12 EPIC potions !!!

 

so EPICPIETY, are you still claiming that the season rewards are on par with the PvP ladder rewards?

 

I gave you a detailed explanation & some basic calculations so I would appreciate it if you could do the same too if I ask you a question and not keep refusing to answer BUT still keep claiming to know the answer !!!

Ladder needs to be in 100 lvl steps!!!! 25-249 is ridicioulus...

PvP ladder as it should have been:

lvl 25-99   = 75 lvls

lvl 100-199 = 100 lvls

lvl 200-299 = 100 lvls

lvl 300-449 = 150 lvls

lvl 450-599 = 150 lvls

lvl 600-799 = 200 lvls

lvl 800-999 = 200 lvls

lvl 1000-1249 = 250 lvls

lvl 1250-1499 = 250 lvls

lvl 1500-1799 = 300 lvls

lvl 1800-2199 = 400 lvls

lvl 2200-2699 = 500 lvls

lvl 2700-3299 = 600 lvls

 

THis would be considering the player base pyramid the best option. And thats by a low lvl guy who got into crystal league, I am the lowest lvl in all FS who got that sweet Tyranny medal btw...

 

So please hear me out:

the lvl 25-249 league will be filled up in 1-2 weeks by lvl 200+ players only. the low levels (below lvl 199) that dont have super elite OP sets like Fushy + Branch will have an inequally hard time competing, while the lvl 200+ will just slap on some basic buffs from themselves and sit the lvl, farming occasionally the lower folks.

 

Somehow I am still in the ladder though I opted out.... Well. Ima send in a ticket to HCS, cuz I dont wanna participate in that fiasko.

 

Always take in consideration the playerbase amount first! Then what sets are available, mainly new sets that outdo the older ones by far, like some epics and super elites sets do. Then one should go by bracking up the lvl ranges, as I have done.

Up until lvl 600 there are enough players to fill up ladder, same goes for gear.

 

Everything above lvl 600 and below lvl 2000 is pretty scarce of players, alot of semi-active players, but no matter how wide you pull brackets for them there, you wont have in that lvl range proper balance/activity ratio.

 

So my solution seems to be the most attractive Player base wise... Just stop butchering the low levels on the ladder!

If I were a lvl 70 and had to put up in the pvp ladder against the lvl 200 guys, I would either quit ladder for a time and join em with the same 200+ sets OR and that is most likely, be put off from the ladder altogether and dont even bother pvp there.

The ladder is a great place to learn about pvp, but without victories and positive experience, there wont be any learning effect but this:
