#921606 Quit setting us up for failure ..

Posted by Mzzery on 26 February 2015 - 08:13

people will always try and find a loophole for personal profit..

if i were the cows i would make traveling potion makers have to stay in a guild for at least 7 days before they can make guild tagged potions..

titan hunters cant join a guild and hunt within 7 days of joining, so i cant see why potion makers are allowed to profit while guild hopping

#920760 please extend pvp attack range

Many of those who want the ranges extended is in the group of players that like to bully other players and attack them only to provoke and harass in a legal way. I believe nothing good will come out of this and voted no like the majority and hope this will be left unchanged.

I voted in favor of increasing the ranges so now I'm a bully?  If you have proof that I have ever bullied you in any way you should contact support for their help in dealing with me.  Otherwise, your unfounded, public accusations make you the bully by painting me as something I am not in an effort to intimidate me and scare others.  Level ranges for pvp need to be increased badly.  I currently have 5 players in range thet are active.  5, and I'm not anywhere close to EOC.

Who is really at fault here, the one doing the bullying or the one who didn't purchase pvp protection?

See, this here is an issue. Are they actually bullying you? Or are they a PvPer who saw you had gold on hand and wanted it? Just because a player partakes in PvP does not make them a bully.

A prestige hit is only 10 stam? Dang ... I been pvping wrong all this time. I've always 100 stammer. Whether its for gold, randomly saying *hi* , or hitting someone back who's *tapped* me for prestige.

sounds like someone needs some education and some extra attention  in the find player list

Don't you see how this kinda action is part of the problem? "He said something I disagree with, so I'm gonna suggest everyone attack him!"? It's ridiculous! It's not how you win an argument or discussion!

If the idea is to improve PvP, then let's have a Live PvP Arena where online players can attack each other with full gears and buffs and without fear of being bountied or gained up.  What's the point of pvping if your target is offline?

We tried that on Sigma Storm 2 with the Slaughterfest. It kinda worked but was not as popular as we'd hoped it would be.

As for PvPing offline players? It's an easy hit with minimal risk. Why wouldn't people target them?

level 25 -  200 +/- 5
level 200 -500 +/- 10
level 500 - 1000 +/- 25
level 1000 - 1500 +/- 50
level 1500 - 2000 +/- 100
level 2000 - 2500 +/- 150.

While not bad, a +/- of 300 is a hell of a lot of levelling to have to do if you were wanting to level beyond unwanted PvP. How's this?

level 25 -  200 +/- 5
level 200 -500 +/- 10
level 500 - 1000 +/- 25
level 1000 - 1500 +/- 50
level 1500 - 2000 +/- 75
level 2000 - 2500 +/- 100.

I'd think that is a little more reasonable, right? That still gives the highest level players +/- 200 attacking levels (though I think that might still be a bit high.). I'd also be inclined to only attacking up is increased until you level fully into the bracket.

For example :

Level 1025. He/she can attack down 25 levels but up 50. Once they reach 1050, they have the full =/- 50.

see the problem is there is the odd player not many but enough to make ppls lives miserable who constantly attack anyone within range for no other reason then they can i have seen it so know it happens ...only advice has been to lvl out of there range ..can you imagine if they had a 100 lvls to kill in some poor sods would be hounded out the game

This is a concern, yes. Thus the request for feedback.

XP loss is overrated to me, hades.

Fixed that for you. While it may be over rated to you, it's not to others. We have to be aware of all viewpoints.

Take out xp loss or reduce it significantly and both camps are happy, no? Now, maybe more would be willing to try pvp and you get what Jedi wants. More pvp!

XP loss is here to stay. We've already discussed that option at length here in the pasture. Reduction? Possible I suppose but unlikely.

But give the players who want out of pvp an option to do so.

A PvP Opt out is not gonna happen I reckon. This is a game with many facets. PvP is a pretty huge part of FS. That's how it is. If you wanna protect your XP, there is PvP Protection.

The on topic portion....

The game has, and will continue to evolve. EOC is 2450 now, and the smaller number of active players means that we are more spread out than ever. Keep the players under 1000 the same, and expand the range as your level gets higher. The same equipment is used, for the most part, for 2-300 levels now. No one should be able to claim that they have an equipment disadvantage.

The off topic portion....

For as long as I've played the game, PvP has been changed almost yearly. Not 1 time, in my opinion, has it become more PvP friendly. The players who strictly level have not only the loudest voice, but also the most sympathy - for whatever reason. If anyone denies this, then they simply aren't being honest, or not paying attention.

Players who have trouble defending themselves complain long enough...changes come. Players who couldn't win in the arena complain long enough....changes come. I've seen it, time and time again. It happens, and I have evolved with the changes. It doesn't make it any less obvious who has the most influence, though.

"Levelers" have PvP protection, the bounty board, and support tickets. That, however, still isn't good enough. The real problem is that some of them want to be able to hold 20 million gold so they can play the marketplace, etc - and have no worries. Don't believe me? Hit a guy with a ton of gold and watch the show. You want to talk about insults? I've been called every name in the book because of gold hits. I hear all this noise about XP in the forums, but none of the nasty PM's I've ever gotten were about XP. It's all about the gold. That's why PvP protection isn't good enough for these particular players. It still doesn't protect the gold when you are carrying a large amount.

Basically, don't roofie me and call it romance. Tell it like it really is, and go from there.

#919628 What DON'T you like about PvP?

Posted by yotekiller on 15 February 2015 - 04:21

Yes. Everyone has the option to attack the untouchables, but why would they? They will be obliterated. Simple as that. I'm a little curious as to why the sudden push for more PvP activity. Perhaps the only PvPers left are the untouchables... I'm not complaining (well, maybe a little bit). But I'm speaking from experience. I remember being taught that certain guilds and players were off limits, lest I desire to be Deleveled out of the game.

(stuff)

Have you considered that you were taught wrong?  I keep hearing about these so-called "untouchable" players and/or guilds.  Why don't you take the time to learn for yourself what pvp'ers are really all about.  I did.  I have only been in my current guild, which seems to catch a lot of flak, for a few months.  Prior to that, I was in leveling focused guilds.  I dabbled in pvp but my main focus was leveling.  One day I realized that I could never buy my way to the top and no matter how hard I tried, I would never be able to outpace the rich players that could.  Leveling had grown tiresome and now it seemed there was little left for me to strive for.  What to do?

I decided to take a year off from leveling and explore all aspects of the pvp realm.  What I found re-invigorated my interest in the game.  I am by no means a pvp expert but I learned a lot.  Sometimes from advice and sometimes from the school of hard knocks but always with an effort to improve my skills.  I also took pride in never being intimidated by anyone's "reputation" (aka a bunch of rumors).  Guess what?  I wasn't de-leveled out of the game but I did make a lot of new friends and came to find out who the real pvp'ers were and who wasn't.

During my expreiment I came to realize that levels come and go.  They are just numbers and all the importance I had placed on them as a leveler now seemed more than a little OCD and irrational.  What really matters in this game are the friendships.  What difference does it make if I am the highest player, the richest player or #1 anything else in a virtual world (that means not real life) if I have no friends to enjoy it with?  Yes, levelers can make friends but the pvp'ers are the ones that really come together and interact with each other on a regular basis.  I have returned to leveling some but pvp continues to keep the game fresh and interesting.

Here are a few tips for anyone else that would like to try their hand at pvp.  For most these are common sense but there are always some that don't get it so here goes.  Always be respectful in your communications, just as you (hopefully) would communicate with people in real life.  Nothing gets people crossways faster than trash talk.  You wouldn't say those things to people you meet in real life, don't say them here.  Ask questions.  Pvp'ers are a friendly bunch and enjoy helping others learn about that aspect of the game.  Clear people on the bounty board.  Occasionally some jerk will counter bounty you for a 10 stam clear but you'll quickly learn who they are and clear them with 100's the next time.  Most people really do appreciate an honest 10 stam clear so just jump in there and do it.  Want to try your hand at "safe" pvp first?  Participate in gvg's where you will learn about gear and buffs.  Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the experience.

I'm a PvP player, not a bully. People seem to cram the 2 together like to one is guaranteed to be the other. I'm also friends with both the non PvP player and PvP player arguing in this topic. Can you honestly read posts from both and blame just the PvP player while the other is making threats, talking trash and name calling to name a few things I noticed? The majority of the time it isn't the pvp players who start it. It's the nonsense like this topic that turns issues ugly.

Please don't think of yourself as a bully, ever! Those of us who know you know that you are the antithesis of what a bully is considered. You know it. Please don't let it bother you. Also don't stoop to any idiot's level because they suck. Here, it's mostly at playing this game, and the only resolve they have is to start whining. It's ironic, I know, but people who try to intimidate through threats, trash talk, and name calling are they themselves the bullies. These idiots have an inferiority complex who think their power comes from the trash they talk. It's why we have always dealt with them the way we do and will continue to do so!

#919338 In defense of the monsters in fs...

Posted by moonfrost on 13 February 2015 - 02:25

It occurs to me as people make efforts to remove xp loss from pvp effectively making it pillow vs pillow that we are forgetting a very important part of the game, hunting. Now while the new breed of practice pvper is swinging on everything in range with their newfound epic pillow of extrafluffiness, screaming no xp loss while trying to rally fs around this idea of a friendlier anti-pvp pvping structure that the monsters roaming the realms have not gotten their fair dues. Imagine, you're a werepanda out on the realm trying to feed your family of 12 when suddenly some drunken adventurer with a pillowcase full of rice blasts you in the head taking your wealth and your life for some measly xp to gain a couple levels. Is there any thought or care to that panda's family? What about his ex-wife pandas trying to collect child support or even alimony? While I'm sure the panda has found peace in finally not having to pay out all his hard earned bamboo to that bloodsucking leech he picked up at that bush party back 200 levels ago, what about the kids? Why do they deserve to starve because their dad, once just a dead beat, is now dead at the hands of some pillow carrying adventurer? Therefore I propose the following, in accordance with the demands of xp loss removal from pvping(no doubt due to the rising cost of rice.) I say we remove xp gain from the killing of creatures in the realms except during specific hunting seasons based on creature types, ie:lizard season, panda season, corpse season. This, along with no xp loss in pvp, would certainly make this game a much more enjoyable experience for all players of all backgrounds.

#918724 PvP is DEAD???

Posted by 3JS on 09 February 2015 - 11:40

Why do I do this to myself.....

Anyway, here's my humble opinion, coming from a player who plays the game every way that is offered.

If you click the attack button, there's a chance you'll end up on the bounty board. Obvious, right? Some people don't think so. When you end up on the bounty board, sometimes a few people, who happen to be virtual friends, accept this bounty, and you may lose 5 levels. Game mechanics at work, as it was intended to be played.

Now, here's where it gets tough.

The player who just lost 5 levels...He now has at least 4 targets to put on the bounty board. So, considering that turnabout is fair play, this player gets a few of his virtual friends to take these bounties, and said friends drop them all 5 levels as well. Now, considering there was no trash talk involved, this is usually the end of it. Everyone moves on, has a few laughs, and at the end of the day, sometimes a new virtual friendship is born. This happens, honestly, at least 75% of the time. Say what you want about the terrible PvP guys if you must, but they really aren't that bad.

The downfall of a good time...

Somewhere along the way, it's almost inevitable these days that one of the players involved will get their virtual feelings hurt. They begin flexing their little tiny keyboard muscles in PM's, sending in tickets, reporting bio's, and generally being a pain in everyone's hind parts. This is where the dark side of PvP comes out. Now, this player enters themselves on an invisible list. Players on this list will forever be smashed at every opportunity. Then the players doing the smashing get labeled as things that they aren't.

PvP players rarely start this, mind you. The problem lies in the fact that sometimes people bite off more than they can chew, and they don't like that feeling.

Another thing to consider is this. The game is designed to block you from doing things that aren't allowed. So, common sense would tell you that everything that is constantly being complained about in this forum regarding PvP....is in the games design. Learn to defend against it. Lord knows that with all the newer, nuclear buffs out you should be able to.

With all this being said, I wasn't around this weekend. I have no idea what transpired, but this response fits almost every anti PvP thread ever made.

The reason I wasn't around? I was enjoying time with my family. I suggest that some of you do the same every once in a while.  Erildath is make believe, after all.

There is no problem taking things personally, I'll fell bad if I get dropped 5 for Prestige hits, for sure I'll don't like it, but I'll never start offending the people the people who did it, I'll find friends to smash them back, that's all.

For me, the prior reason for smash parties, is non-sense offense, one thing is someone going crazy after you did a gold hit while they were hunting, other thing is player A smashing player B for no reason, player B and friends taking 5 from player A, player A start to post FS Box, Forum, PMs and everything else to offend the hitters. C'mon, that just a game, war are fun, everybody like it :D

#918556 PvP is DEAD???

Losing 5 levels for a 10 stam prestige hit or deflected attack is lame, though.

Put it into perspective. Is it lame to you if the hitter continues hitting and the attacked doesn't hit back? When is it too many attacks? These are all subjective answers and vary from player to player and guild to guild. I will continue to smack players who need to learn that there are some you can attack, and nothing will happen, and there are others where something retaliatory occurs. I need more stomper tics until Diamante anyway. Maybe they learn, maybe they won't until they lose dozens of levels. It's just a game and these numbers are fictional fun. The more anyone takes it personally the more injury they will incur.

#910293 Why Can't I Control My Prestige?

Posted by sweetlou on 18 December 2014 - 04:52

Anything past 2000 Prestige will still only give you 10% added xp for 6 hours. I currently have 8405. I've seen players holding 30k+. Currently if I use it I will have 0. Why must I be forced to use anything past the maximum reward? I'm not asking to use little tidbits or for the ability to sell it. I just want to be fully in charge of how my character spends the Prestige earned. Let us use Prestige in increments of 2000. The rest stays accrued.

#904255 Development Update 19th November 2014

Posted by Hoofmaster on 24 November 2014 - 19:27

 So 100 stam attacks every hour on the hour is not bullying. Its PvP. But if its taken to the "extreme" its bullying? I am so confused. I thought the most "extreme" pvp is hourly 100 stams. Can't get more extreme than that considering the game liimits you to 1 attack every hour which each attack can wind you up on the bounty board even if you're deflected.

I WISH we could simply remove the word "Bully" and "Bullying" from our game lingo altogether. Its PvP, no more no less. Bullying is a VERY  serious issue amonst our schools and communities in REAL LIFE. It really has no place being used in a game because real bullying is anything but gamelike. Using the word "bullying" to describe PvP is ridiculous and offensive. If that was really the case, then all of us are bullies because we take full advantage of all those monsters, super elites, titans that we kill everyday that don't even stand a chance of winning.

It's been looked at on a case-by-case basis in the past. Going forward however I think we need to clear this up and if required make appropriate changes to the system instead.

If someone is sending abusive / inappropriate / bullying messages then these should absolutely be dealt with (as we always have). The issue always seems to arise in support when a player is constantly targeted with 100 stamina attacks and the target feels 'bullied' due to the consistent attacks.

I think the best solution to this would be to change the system so that once a player is attacked, there is essentially a cooldown that increases with each attack (which would reduce as other players were also attacked - or instantly if the player is attacked back) - something along those lines anyway. I do agree it's something we need to address however and I'll bring it up with the team at our next meeting.

In summary, if a player is attacking another player in PvP and isn't sending abusive / inappropriate / bullying messages I don't feel this should be considered bullying. I do however think we need to review how often one player can attack another which should help players feel less targeted within the game.

PS. If anyone isn't happy with the response you receive via support, you can request it be escalated and another member of the team will review it.

#904207 Development Update 19th November 2014

Posted by sweetlou on 24 November 2014 - 17:15

No can do. It should only require a touch of common sense. As is usually the case, if we provide one or two examples, certain people only see that as the rules. Remember the original Chat Rules? They had to be expanded simply because players would say "Not in the rules" when it's quite obviously inappropriate.

I'm not surprised. I don't want to get into an argument over how common sense can vary by differing perspectives. It's a broad brush stroke with which to justify just like the case-by-case directive. I get it. Don't paint yourself into a corner. So our examples will be our own experiences.

I did read it yes. It's confusingly worded.

You weren't defending yourself. You were trying to ruin the other player completely. Now drop it and stay on topic.

The way I read her example of how events were mistaken is precisely why an appeals process is needed to be used. Most don't know it's thankfully available if the player hasn't quit the game already. It's nice to remember there are two sides to each argument.
