#944729 PvP Ladder Rewards - what would you like to see?

Posted by KitiaraLi on 13 August 2015 - 14:19

I disagree! I think it there needs to be potions and gear just like in the Arena and the rest of the game - UNBOUND!! Let the game's marketplace handle the Ladder's value. Why is PvP always relegated to being unprofitable unlike other aspects? It's discriminatory and needs to stop.

I cannot speak for Maeh, but from my stance bound stuff is good. I see no reason why you should be able to profit from being on a ladder (not with the way the ladder was b4 PvP season anyways). As is (was, and will return in that state) the ladder was easily abused, and a bunch of players did so - which you know, since you and I (and Hor, Maeh, Cali, Baoh, Valle, Ape, Micke etc etc) fought long and hard PvP wars with 'em over this.

I can somewhat follow the idea of free market, and the noble thought "I fought for this, I decide what to do with it". Sadly, a minority in this game have proven, that if something can be turned to profit via exploits (bugs, scripting, behind back deals etc) - it will be that way.

In my eyes, if you want the stuff you can gain from PvP, then go PvP!
Don't go with the "I have maxed out my moms cred card again, now look at me having the stuff others have virtually fought for" approach.

Be a hero and add Stamina Steal. Similar to Thievery but with stamina. That might not go over real well but its a fresh idea.

I'm a leveler. I've learned a ton in the past week or so about PvP in general. That IS some consolation for the decently huge (in my opinion) pile of gold and fsp I've spent so far. But I'd like to see something that can help me make up for lost time.

Also potions, no matter how powerful they are, is a very bad idea, I don't want to see my reward for spending over 10K stam is a potion that will make me powerful for a few hours then I have nothing, so I really dislike the potion idea

I'm not opposed to potions, but I'd like to see multiple smaller potions rather than a single huge potion. The prestige pot is ok, but the duration is ridiculous for someone with 25k max stam.

I think it would encourage more people to play if the rewards aren't bound. If I don't like the rewards, but can go sell them, I'm more likely to participate. If I get something that doesn't fit my playing style AND I'm stuck with it, there's no way I'm going to do another Season, period. However, the value of the reward would need to be decently high to counter those that would buy rather than play.

New PVP enhancement:
Attack Mug: Chance to drain 10% of opponent's attack and add to your attack for the battle if you initiate the combat (PVP only)

Enhancement Negator: Chance to reduce 2 of the opponent's enhancements to 0 for the battle (PVP only)

Awesome ideas! "I will take your attack stat and add it to my own." And I do like the idea of a buff that is like Sealed, but works for enhancements rather than buffs. But I'm nervous about making Seasons rewards ones that just make the good players better. That makes it tougher to break into the upper echelon.

Do you think you could add XP loss for Failed Initiated Attacks into season?

This way it might stop people from blindly just going through and attacking everyone in sight? Make people think a little bit...

Without some sort of risk, people are just going through farming there way to the top... Stop the farming and i think you'll have a lot more happy customers.

Thanks!

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not asking for XP loss to be put back in as a whole. Just for failed initiated attacks.

I was now told I can find the players who smashed me in the pvp season

I will hit them and let them lose xp like what they did with me and skip everyone else, no problem

Those that hunt(ie the ones that would opt out) rarely wear offline pvp sets, so there's little challenge in hitting them.

From a "PVPer"s perspective, I'd just assume them not be available to farm rating from.

From a bounty hunters perspective I see that you, fusion, are in the Crystal tier, so you've been hitting these cream puffs quite frequently, but I also notice that you have absolutely no bounty kills recorded under the new system. That's where the challenge is with buffed and prepared players and you apparently have not risen to to that challenge.

If you want players to opt-out, it should cost them (via PVP protection). Even, make it so that it protects XP, gold and gear. With this, players are getting free protection. Isn't that seriously wrong?

How is it seriously wrong? Do you not still have the option for unrated attacks? In real life, if I don't want to get mugged, I stay out of bad neighborhoods. I sleep in a secured building. I put away my valuables. With the system as it was, I could be mugged at any time, at random. I could be putting my pants on, and someone smacks me and takes my wallet. I'm not on the way to the bank with bags of treasure. I'm not in a bar looking to pick a fight. You can't see the difference? This is like Thunderdome or the Coliseum, and the gladiators want another handful of unarmed peasants thrown in to slaughter. I guess it doesn't occur to some that there are people who just don't want to be in the brawl. I've always paid for PvP protection for just that reason - it was the only way to avoid (most of) it.

Edit: My thought for a more effective PvP system would be that if there were those interested in being gold thieves, then make it more interesting and challenging. Hunt victims like SEs. Use stam to walk around your nearby levels and find other players on the combat list. Come and find us in the realms, check our stats and our gold, then smack us while we sleep if that's how you roll. The more honorable thing to do would be to find online players and issue a challenge for their gold and the battle is on or the player bribes you to just go away. Let a person draw a weapon. The whole idea of having a list of available rich players in the neighborhood to go after with a button push seems to take much of the challenge out of it - that's how it was before this. Having them served up at random is just silly. Those who really want to go toe-to-toe need something like the Arena or this Seasons system in some form, but I don't think you get to be the best fighter among fighters by slaughtering the townsfolk or robbing the unarmed.

Please someone explain to me the necessity for opt out. What are you losing for being opted in? XP no, durability no? I believe the only thing you can take away from pvp now is stamina usage. Opt out just lessens the playing field. I want to hear someones argument that's adamant about having opt in and opt out. Also add back xp loss/durability loss then... Believe its a fair trade.

When you're in the mix and being hit constantly through random matches, you can't hunt, make guild deposits, or do anything with gold. I hunted last night and lost 400K gold from a rated attack. With unrated attacks, sure I expect to be a target when I've got some gold on hand, but when you get hit every 2 minutes, you just can't get rid of it fast enough. I did try the Seasons and I opted out. I see no skill involved, no challenge, and there's no appeal to me.

As you say - if you don't want to be involved in the PvP Seasons you can opt-out of it.

Sure thing. this is the only useful thing there is and come after 3 revisions instead of coming live immediately. People (and me as well) got attacked and lost money/exp for nothing just in order for you COWs to perform your brilliant experiment...

And by the way, every opt out is a NO vote on your new system so don't be excited about this...

For anyone who is not getting any frag chest drops from the Elemental Wraiths, try this solution which worked for me:

Preferences  -->  Gameplay  -->  Auto Discard Level.  Ensure that that white box on the right is completely blank, and Save Settings.

My auto discard had originally been set with the number 0 (zero) which is why I wasn't getting any drops initially.

just a thought , why must we be inflicted with opening the chests from creatures one at a time,  ????

thanks for the event

too bad you gave up the info on what was inside the chests i was wanting a surprise like if you want to know then do the kills and find out

A real pity. Got my auto-fragment active, set to discarding common rarity, the rarity of the chest. Finished the hunt only to find out the wraiths itself drops chest... Disgusting.

No need to compensate my ignorance, but I plead to at least include this information at the news page.

They were supposed to be. We don't want people making Clones to harvest the drops and then send them to their prime account.

As far as clones don't out have to be level 25 to hunt the globals anyway?

And if you want to bind them that's fine, but any chance for the future you can select an option in preference to make them guild bound like composing potions? I do not compose much myself, but any extra drops I get I will send them to someone in the guild who does compose. I think this would make an event like this appeal to more of the masses as well.

#851009 New Medals!

Posted by Belaric on 21 February 2014 - 22:54

Speaking of new medals, a guildie randomly came out with the idea of:

A Devotion medal. He said had prayed every day to the same god for 6 years, and wanted a medal to show his devotion! (As Gurgriss never gave him squat and he had been true to the guy all this time, LOL!!)

I think that is a great idea! Devotion medals!! (yeah Shindrak, not very skill based either....)

So kudos to Ragnock for that idea. Why not??
