#981431 YOUR Reasons for:

Posted by Belaric on 04 June 2017 - 01:44

1. Why do you play FS? Fun? Challenge? Other?

I originally played for the fun and the joy of the game. Now I play out of habit and obligation to my guild. And because I have optimism that the game may have a renaissance, and if it doesn't, I won't mind being around when they switch the lights off.

2. A.When you play "your style" do you use buffs? Potions? A combo of the two?

    B. What level buffs/potions do you use?

I use potions and buffs. In some circumstances I use the minimum to get the job done (global frag hunting, DQ's, I do DQ's incredibly inefficiently, no biggie.), in other circumstances I go for ridiculous overkill even when it won't actually be more efficient. Because why not? Efficiency was for when it seemed impossible to catch EOC. After a few years there you wonder why you were so driven to reach the end. But I do not regret it - I loved being #1 for a few weeks back in the day, (including my birthday!) - and reaching EOC has allowed me to spend my stam in any way I see fit, which is liberating!

3. If you use buffs or potions or a combo, why?

Answered above I think. If you have an option available that is not prohibitively expensive for unnecessary statistical change, why not use everything available?

4. Do you use Global Chat? Why or why not?

No. Just 'cos. Ok - other online games where it was always there it was just mostly mindless whittering, and I spaced it out then, so didn't see the need to expose myself to the same kind of thing here.

5. What aspects of FS have you played?

All bar arena. I won one by accident doing a DQ! Oh, and caves. No luck in caves when I tried it. I am the worst merchant in FS, and do not care. I do not play PvP, though I have participated in the ladder and delevelling parties in the past. GvG is once in a blue moon when I can be bothered and stam is available. I love titan hunting, but don't indulge that often outside of seasonals anymore. I like mopping up claimed titans just to keep the turn over rolling when I have spare stam and time. Which is once every couple of months nowadays. If you are bored of waiting for your titan to be cleared PM me. If it has been hanging for long enough I might just do you the favour if the time is right. I am proud to have hunted most of our guild's epics.

6. Why did you choose to play these aspects of the game?

I joined to gain levels, I'm an old school 2nd edition AD&D player. Levels are where it is at. But in this game I feel more specialisation should be possible, as gaining after 1000 (or even before) gets very samey. Getting to 500 and 175 buffs was a huge thrill. Having to decide how to use skill points was great when it was a challenge and choosing how to spend your resources was meaningful. I have 4500 spare skill points now - that challenge has gone.

I played titans at first because I can be very stubborn. I steal your killz! Even if I got trashed by faster hunters and teams, I would stick it out. Not so much now - I just move on - plenty more targets! I got over 90% to ruby titan before titan doubler came out. I felt cheated when it arrived, but it is a godsend. Spending 3-6 hours securing titans solo (I've always been a solo titan artist. Lovely guildies help out occasionally!) was insane. But that first terror titan hat I earned was golden. 1 titan hit point at a time. You lived in fear of a speedy group showing up until way after 2K kills were in. Jeez! I don't miss that!

SE hunting I got into for sets, but then they became somewhat worthless. I hunt them every so often. Treasure Chests - I never find them when I'm looking for them. Could I have that stam back? LOL!

Buying and selling stuff - I do it for my guild. I buy high and sell low. It just happens. I'm happy to get paid.

I GvG'd for the Guild, it bored me to be honest. I get smacked when offline - I wait until 8-10 hours after the players who were hitting me hit me, and hit them back when they sleep. I am a fan of RP for finishing a defence even if you lose, if that were not available I'd never bother.

7. How often do you log on to FS?

Almost every day when not internet denied due to travel.

8. How long have you been playing FS?

9 years this December. Or 8 and a half years right now.

9. Are you in a guild? (I do not need specific guild names) If so, why?

Yes. Because I founded it. Guilds rock. Growing your own guild from nothing to top 20 when never having much more than 25 members is kind of awesome. And very lucky. Loyalty, friendship and lack of drama makes playing the game so easy, and so hard to quit. I appreciate everything every guild member past and present has put into our guild. I'll take the oppotunity here to thank them all again for their contributions, and for sharing the road with us. It has been an honour.

10. What level were you when you first joined a guild? (If you are in one that is!)

It was when I couldn't afford to get the blood demon set. And wouldn't wait to hunt it as I wanted to gain those levels FAST! For some reason I thought it was the mutt's nuts at the time. I knew then I needed guild help. About 10 levels later (after lusting after Girath and being unable to get it either) I joined a fantastic guild called Tortured Souls. I left it to form my own around level 160. I have often wondered how my game would have gone had I not made that decision. Pro-tip: do not form your own Guild at 160!!

Thanks tharzill.

#980957 Present Darkness.. Can we shed some lights on it?

Hey all, Big Grim especially ;)

Any chance we could finally see the end to this dark tunnel we've come to know as Present Darkness?

The epic quest that has been haunting us, uncompleted in our journals, burning holes in our very souls with the ever present darkness of in-completion...

Please release us from our torment grim, We promise we will be good!  :D

#980884 Arena Reward Restructuring - Yet Another Thread

Posted by devicem on 15 May 2017 - 13:28

First of all, bear in mind that this is in no way a complaint, only a suggestion to further improve the game. Comments and criticism are all appreciated as long as they are constructive. So, here goes.

In order to go ahead and post my idea of restructuring the arena, I’d like to take a second and get back to the previous ‘version’ of the arena when only winning a tournament meant obtaining a reward. So, I’ve been away from the game for quite a bit, and noticed these changes with the tokens and spending them the way you like. That’s all well and good, except I noticed a little oversight, if I may call it that. Golds.

1. Gold rewards are still having the winner-takes-all structure. I think this structuring is outdated, and should use similar awarding structure as the for-token tournaments.

So, awarding tokens for 2nd and 3rd has been implemented beautifully as it allows newcomers to challenge the champions of the arena and fight their way into winning tournaments. However, I wonder why this isn’t done for the gold rewards as well? Especially because ‘the house’ still takes in a rake. I’ve calculated that in 4000-gold tournaments, there is 825 gold rake, 2500 rake for 15000-golds, and 5000 rake for 30000-golds. Now, I believe it would be a good motivation for players to not only get awarded for 1st, 2nd or 3rd but to get 1, 2, 3 arena tokens as a reward for taking rake at and beyond 2500 (15000 gold entry).

Second, I think the prize money should be split not added like it is in tokens-only tournaments. Basically, if you see a 32-tokens tournament, it actually means that it is a 64-tokens tournament — 32 for the 1st, 16 for the 2nd, and 8 for 3rd and 4th. So my suggestion is to fix that discrepancy by renaming ‘reward’ into ‘prize pool’. And for the golds, when you split, for example, the 200000 gold prize, it would still be heavily favored toward the winner: something like 60%, 30%, 10%, where 2nd would virtually gain a re-buy ticket to a new tournament and 3rd gets a consolation prize. J Helps the newcomers mostly.

Summary:

1st = 60% of prize pool 3 arena tokens for 2500 gold rake and above

2nd = 30% of prize pool 2 arena tokens for 2500 gold rake and above

3rd = 10% of prize pool 1 arena token for 2500 gold rake and above

(for golds)

2. Create tournaments with more varying entries i.e. have tournaments with 4 entrants in which the prize here is actually justified to be winner-only. Then you have 8-mans or 16-mans, here the awards can be 1st, 2nd, 3rd. And finally, 32-mans, where the awards are for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th – but again favoring the winner and runner-up. I think this way most people will be incentivized to play. I would love to see even 64-entrant tournaments, but I fear they will never fill. Although, even if it takes 2-3 days to fill, I still think they would be a great addition, mainly because of the high-risk, high-award. And each group of tourneys (number of entrants) could have its own page or band (however you want to call it).

Furthermore, there could also be a timer in place for when 32-mans and 64-mans don’t fill, in which case random players receive a bye in the first round.

Summary:

Introduce 4-mans winner takes all; 16-mans, 32-mans and 64-mans across all levels

Timer on 32-mans and 64-mans; random players get bye in first round if not filled

3. This is in line with the number of entrants: Create PvP Arena bands, with restarting points as in ladder but with not so over the top rewards. It might not even be actual in-game rewards. It could be badges that acknowledge rank placement each season for that particular band. Simple implementation, but I think it would spark participation.

4. Upon entering a tournament, when you click ‘View’, the screen should tell you with how much att, dmg, arm, and def you registered into, for convenience and learning purposes.

Like I said. Comments, improvements to my ideas, criticism are all welcome. Just keep an open mind and discuss. :)

I'm curious about these over powered potions.

Would someone power up and let me try to hit you?

I'm at EOC and looking for something to entertain myself.

If it's truly make you invincible, then I'll change my name to beg2win :)

#979729 Shadow Bunny Assault!

Posted by BigGrim on 18 April 2017 - 16:45

Hi there everyone.

It's a time of rebirth. Of Spring! A new holiday has been implemented by the Monks and Sisters of the Cathedral of Ways. Eggs have been scattered in all but the smallest realms with baskets handed out to everyone to collect them. Yay! Fun!

An unpleasant Mage has see all this "fun" and decided he hates it. And if he hates it, he has to ruin it for everyone! He's conjured up Shadow Bunnies to steal the eggs and generally get in the way!

The Warriors of the Realms must gather together to collect all the eggs and duff up any of the Shadow Bunnies who get in between you and the eggs!

A Springtime Druid awaits you in the Springtime Forest with the quest : Shadow Bunny Assault! (STF) where you earn the Magical Egg Collecting Basket!

For those of you who have completed the Quest in previous years and dropped the basket, you can buy a new one from the Basket Boutique shop found in Springtime Forest (Shoppers Grove).

Easter Egg (Level 25)
3840094735ce3db4726f9659cdd2ca59b487.jpg
Worth 1 kill.

All over the Realms, a holiday is being celebrated. The citizens are tasked with finding the colourful eggs that have been strewn around the country. All participants have to have a magic basket which they put the eggs into and they return to the Cathedral of Ways for counting. Good, clean fun!

Shadow Bunny (Level 25)
38411e5ac5da40256cffe21588bfd454aa63.jpg
Worth 5 kills.

Good fun until someone has to spoil it! An unpleasant Mage has decided that these "Fun" activities must be stopped. To that end, he has conjured up twisted, evil Shadow Bunnies that are immune to normal weapons! They are running around the Realms trying to steal the colourful eggs! They must be stopped!

The latest Global Event in Fallen Sword is now underway! In the Event, the Community must work together to gather the Eggs scattering the realms while beating up the Shadow Bunnies.

Each player must earn a personal target for increasingly bountiful Easter Baskets (mouse over the event info on the World page for more details) while also helping the Community to attain the best total kills possible, unlocking the rewards for all.

The Global Event shall be live until 13:00 hours Server Time 24th April 2017.

For each tier that the community completes the reward will be as follows:

Bronze:1 x Simple Easter Basket
Silver:1 x Average Easter Basket
Gold:2 x Modest Easter Basket
Crystal:2 x Fantastic Easter Basket
Ruby: 3 x Extravagant Easter Basket

If you qualified, the reward(s) will be delivered to your mailbox shortly after the event ends. Note that you get the reward for the tier that you have qualified for, for example if the community unlocks Gold, but you qualify for Silver, you will receive 1 x Global Silver Frag Stash. You don't receive the rewards from lower tiers, only the tier you have qualified for.

Also if you are placed within the top 100 event contributors you will receive 2 additional Extravagant Easter Baskets.

The Springtime Forest (Shoppers Grove) has appeared for those of you who finished the Shadow Bunny Assault! quest and discarded their Magical Egg Collecting Basket.

There is a helpful forum post RIGHT HERE full of information on Global hunting grounds and so on compiled from the Community by Egami.

#979542 Good Friday...and No Easter Event??

Posted by wazzimoto on 15 April 2017 - 00:49

Easter Weekend started today...and NO Event?? Seems VERY odd timing on HCS behalf...

Being a "Themed Event" I would assume it should start when Good Friday arrives?? NO??

Hmmmm

#979518 YOUR Reasons for:

Posted by cucullainn on 14 April 2017 - 12:25

1. Use to play for fun. It's not that fun anymore

2. If I am not on here just chatting. A combo of the two?

    B. I will Often buy Buffs from the market. Mostly 175. Then Special Potions from the AH or Bazaar. Then buff myself maybe. Then when I was in another Guild. I would use their Composing pots.

3. I will use them to get the max XP from a hunt. Or use some to try even the odds. If participating in PvP.

4. I would love to use GC. Unfortunately I was banned from using it years ago. I have since asked twice. Only to be turned down. I do go use Global chat, to see which friends may be on. Or to assess any news or gossip taking place. I have also used Global chat to determine if I think other players are clones in my opinion. Or some other reasons I may wish to Iggy them. I now have over three pages of players on my list.

5. All of them. Though I never fully tried being a merchant.

6. Was trying to enjoy myself lol

7. Every Day

8. For Ever

9. Yes. Unless you're very self-sufficient. There are many things you can't do in the game, unless you're part of a guild. There was a very low level Quest. In the beginning of the game, where you needed a group to finish the quest that was a reason I joined a guild to begin with. I've been part of a few Guilds. Made many friends. It's a shame almost all of them no longer play.

10. The quest Nomad Retribution required you to make a group. It is Level 11. That was when I first joined a guild. I did not stay long. At that time in the game EOC was only level 300. I played Solo until I was Lv 100. At that time the Rune of Decay was selling for at least 100 FSPs. Even though Dots were only 100k then. It was still a whole lot of gold.

#979407 YOUR Reasons for:

Posted by tharzill on 12 April 2017 - 07:46

PLEASE if you post in this thread do not comment on anything someone else says. I am asking for YOUR thoughts and reasons only.

So, I have some questions if you feel like answering them please do so.

1. Why do you play FS? Fun? Challenge? Other?

2. A.When you play "your style" do you use buffs? Potions? A combo of the two?

    B. What level buffs/potions do you use?

3. If you use buffs or potions or a combo, why?

4. Do you use Global Chat? Why or why not?

5. What aspects of FS have you played?

6. Why did you choose to play these aspects of the game?

7. How often do you log on to FS?

8. How long have you been playing FS?

9. Are you in a guild? (I do not need specific guild names) If so, why?

10. What level were you when you first joined a guild? (If you are in one that is!)

My answers:

1. I play FS strictly to have fun!

2. A. I use a combo (normally) of buffs and potions.

    B. Depending on what I am doing I will use lvl 175 buffs (daily quests mostly) and no to very low lvl potions, for Titan Hunting it depends on the titan, when leveling I use lvl 192 buffs and the biggest potions in my back pack.

3. I use buffs and potions because for me it is NOT fun to lose a battle. Although, if you look at my kill streak you can see I still lose my share even with the most powerful of buffs and potions. Argh.

4. I am fairly shy so I so not use Global Chat, although I will take a peak now and then to see if BG or Hoof has been around.

5. I have played all aspects of FS at one time or another, although leveling is my favorite.

6. I wanted to at least try all aspects to find those that for me are the most fun. So, fun for  me is all that matters.

7. I log in to FS at least once a day, although I do not spend as much time as I once did when I do. Most time is spent waiting for stam to build.

8. I have been playing FS 9 years come this June.

9. Yes I am in a guild. I am in a guild because I have been in one for so long I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I wasn't in one!

10. I was lvl 13 when I joined my first guild.

I hope everyone will answer these questions. And please remember: No comments about anothers reasons for their answers! Thanks and have FUN!  :)

#979247 Item Breakdown DQ

Posted by sweetlou on 08 April 2017 - 02:23

It seems that the number of items to be broken down for daily quests is out of whack with the requirements for other things such as tiles traveled and items invented. For example, one (common) daily quest made me break down 200 items while another (common) daily quest only made me invent 40 items. In my opinion "items broken down" should be roughly on par with "items invented" to fulfill a daily quest requirement. Inventing Vespine Viper Amulets and breaking them down takes roughly the same amount of stamina.

You are looking at Daily Quests from a logical pov. You won't find it. There is poor reasoning to the way the rewards are allocated. You are left with only a question for yourself, should I do it or not. Oftentimes the resource cost(ie stam used) is greater than the reward. The Common, Rare, Legendary, etc labels also don't make much sense. It's best to simply disregard those labels and ask again, should I do it or not.

#978878 Composers of Fallensword, what do you call your "throw-away" Composin...

Posted by Tastria on 04 April 2017 - 13:23

Throw away?  What is this throw away of which you speak?  I don't think I've ever thrown away a potion, knowingly that is.  The way I look at it, even starting out at level one, some of the potions are still better then what you could get when I joined, lo, these many years ago!  So I keep plodding along, currently at level 9 and a half.  But I'm in no rush to run to EOC  :D

#978094 A quick and easy overview of Daily Quests

Posted by Pardoux on 21 March 2017 - 06:40

                                               Daily Quests.

1. These break down into 3 Categories, namely "Normal", "Rare" and "Legendary"

Within those 3 categories, there are several types of quests, namely :-

    Break Down "x" items

    Defeat "x" players in PvP

Defeat "x" of "y" creature type (this can be SE's, Champions etc, or even a specific classification of

    creature like "human" or "dragon")

    Invent "x" items

    Join "x" arenas

    Travel "x" tiles

More types of DQ have been hinted at also, but have still to materialise.

2. The rewards for these daily quests will be 1 of the following types :-

    Current Stamina
    Maximum Stamina
    Reserve Stamina
    Allegiance Tokens
    +1 Maximum Allies
    +1 Component Inventory Slots
    +1 Combat Sets
    +1 Backpack Inventory Slots

+ 1 Auction House Slot (Forgot about this one)

3. The rewards are, generally, higher for a "Rare" quest than they are for a "Normal" quest, and higher

again for a "Legendary" quest - BUT - not always. There are examples where a "Rare" DQ has

given a lesser reward than a "Normal" one has.

The +1 rewards (allies, component inventory, combat sets,BP slots and AH slots) are ONLY available

    via "Legendary" quests.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST ...

Remember to click "COLLECT REWARD" once you've completed the Daily Quest or you won't get the credit for it ..

#977805 How to earn 1000s of FSPs

Posted by mary4ever on 12 March 2017 - 04:28

Hi

I am creating this topic since some players kept asking me how to earn FSPs ("easy & quick") + to help players who have "trouble" earning FSPs to upgrade their character !!!

the following quick / short "guide" is my opinion on how to:

SEASONAL Titans

I am talking about SEASONAL Titans (NOT the normal titans who spawn all year) which are only active during "special Events", there are a couple of those events per year that last 2 weeks !!!

to make this quick, optimal requirements during Seasonal Events:

  • make sure you are either alone or the only high player in your guild (creating a new guild for the duration of the Seasonal Titan Events is very cheap)
  • wait about 2 days (so that the big guilds & fast hunters are on cooldown, Seasonal Ttitans almost spawn the next hour after it gets killed [like the current Hunted Cow Titan] so there will be many spawns & you will have plenty of time) BEFORE you start Titan Hunting so that you do not have any / hardly any competition !!!

this was verified by 4 high lvl friends who have earned 1000s of FSPs EACH Seasnal Event !!!

the higher lvl you are the more FSPs you can earn, especially if a NEW Seasonal Titan gets released then you can easily make 5000+ FSPs !!!

highest amount of FSPs from 1 Seasonal Event was a little bit over 9500 FSPs !!!

best secure "performance" (ONLY using Teleport): 1 Wyld Mari, 2 Jolakott, 2 Mirka, 2 Snowman !!!

(he only used Teleport because he was very low on stam due to the recent XP EVENT)

So even if you are a slow Titan Hunter you can still secure & earn 1000s of FSPs :)

big guilds have an "advantage" against "normal" Titans so you do not need to bother with them since in most cases there will be competition + their drops sell for a lot less than the Seasonal EPICS + the titan spawn rate can take up to days !!!

small guilds / 1 man guild have an "advantage" against Seasonal Titans !!!

you can hunt all the Seasonal Titans you want at your own pace compared to big guilds

EXAMPLE: I am in a big guild & in the last 3 years I managed to only hunt the Mirka Titan ONCE & that was because of 2 "coincidences" which are:

  • I was online when the Seasonal Titans were 1st released
  • for some "odd" reason 5 Mirka Titans were realesed at the same time

if it were not for these 2 "coincidences" then I would not have been able to hunt a single Seasonal Titan in the last 3 years due to being in a big guild !!!

ps: some of you may have noticed that high lvl players in small guilds / "1 man guild" have increased their MAX STAM by several 10.000, look at their Titan Hunting Medal, ask them &-or better try it out yourselves, best of luck :D

INFO: of course there are other ways to earn FSPs BUT IMO & from experience the SEASONAL TITANS are the "easiest & quickest" way that give a very high reward (tons of FSPs) for less rescources (stamina, buffs, time, ...) + does NOT require you to have a big stamina bank OR many BP slots OR OP composing skills !!! (spending about less than 1 hour on a 1 Seasonal Titan to earn up to 1.500 FSPs [=if the Titan is a high lvl + NEW] seems like a good investment to me) ;)

As expected, even when you say no you say it nicely. Thanks.
