I'm gonna agree with the others, just turn the announcements off until it can be done properly. All it does is cause problems(lag) and nobody cares about the medal announcements, even the winners.
We'll take a look at this in the new year ![]()

i personally liked the first way they did the medal announcements.. hope they eventually come back to this feature to make it better.. this couple month lag behind is a joke at this point
Would have to agree there - announcing medals months after the event is kinda pointless. Just turn off the announcement until the process is fixed properly (i.e. it doesn't cause a lag spike when announcing too many) ...
Does anyone even care about Joe Bloggs getting a medal anyway ??

If we're changing names now, I want to change mine to something more feminine so that people will stop thinking I'm a guy. ![]()

Anything to get a few kicks in
the ignorance stings. Its obviously not permanent for starters. He is just spreading Christmas cheer and the cows wanted to help him? The cows agreed for a reason maybe to help increase game activity or help retain new players etc...? If your still whining you need a reality check. What is he actually gaining here... nothing? You complain about low player base etc etc...and when someone tries to help, you instantly shoot them down haha. A few people whining aren't going to discourage.
Jeez, are you ever defensive ?
Have I said anything about his giving away the epics ? - NO
Am I disappointed that the cows have broken the "unbroken" rule about name changes ? - YES
(as are plenty of others, it seems .... )

I disagree as well . Admins keep telling us follow the rules while they start making exceptions. There were 2 options rather than change his name 1: change his rank or 2 : post in his bio and shout box message .

Its obviously not permanent for starters.
not that obvious to me.. for all the reals, this is a bad move by the cows in the long run.. obviously a large amount of money was exchanged..

Moving the double xp event on the 26th, when ppl will 100% be more free, as its christmas holiday, sounds better for me..
That seems a bad idea - because it then means one (or more) of the cows have to be available in case of problems - and they want to enjoy the xmas break too ya know ? ![]()

Just to be the grinch here, I disapprove of this ...
Plenty of players have historically asked for a name change - and been categorically refused by the cows. Sometimes, these requests were just to fix an in-haste spelling mistake, but still denied. Same with spelling mistakes in guild names ...
Now that this can of worms has been opened, I hope name/guild changes that are just spelling mistake ones will be looked at favorably ?
(I still agree with refusing to change names to something completely different - for whatever reason that may be)

At this point no, because of everything Zorg has got it doing, it is not needed.
If this is the answer to "will it be an option, as promised earlier", umm... Not cool. We were told it would be an option that we could change off of. Let me give you an example of why someone might want to leave their stamina gain as it is currently.
Time: 17:25
Stamina: 9,897 / 10,000
Next stamina gain time: 17:30
Stamina gain per hour: 100
Currently, a player in this scenario knows that in 5 minutes, their stamina will be as full as it will be without overflowing (9,997 / 10,000). They know that right before 18:30 (next stamina gain), they need to use 97 stamina so as to not lose it. So, the player can start buffing themselves for their hunt. The buffs will be fresh (don't want to buff previous hour, or an hour of duration will have been lost by this point), then they will get their next full hour's batch of stamina, then start hunting.
Under this "stamina every 5 minutes" plan, they would have to start hunting before their batch of 18:30 stamina comes in, because they would be at 9,997 and would overflow when receiving that 8 stamina. The hundreds of stamina spent buffing one-self would have to be used right then, and that's less accumulated stamina to hunt with. They would then have to wait the whole hour to get the rest of that hour's stamina, instead of getting it all right then, and being able to start hunting right away.
I do this all the time. Hope I've explained this good enough to understand.
I think the only reason some of us didn't push back harder on this change is that we were told by Hoofmaster that there would be an option in our Preferences as to if we wanted to keep the old way or use the new way.
We can add it as an option and default it to hourly for existing players and 5 minute intervals for new players. This means new players will gain the benefit from 'faster' stamina gain (ie quicker time between ticks) and players who have setups designed to maximum their stamina gain can keep it at hourly gains (new players would also have the option to change it to hourly of course). How does that sound?
I've updated the original post (and news) to reflect that the changes to stamina gain will be a preference (but the default for new players) to avoid any confusion
I think adding it as an option makes it possible for existing players to continue playing as they have been used to got the last 8 years while improving the game experience for new players at the same time by making the reduced time between ticks the default for them.

This also makes it to where it is not the same as it currently is, now you only need stam gain items on once an hour, your response suggests you need them on continously to get say the full 100 with epics.
No, what I said is that if you have the Epics on at the end of the hour, the gain is calculated for the hour, same as now.
If you lose it before the hour is up (i.e. it was recalled), you only get your normal gain, same as now.

Disappointed this is still being considered, when as others have said, more important issues need to be dealt with such as those on the development roadmap...
It's not being considered, it's happening. As for the issues on the Roadmap. Most of those will require a vast amount of work and there is little point starting such an endeavour when the office will only be open another week. The update would not be done.
As such, we'll work on updates that we can do in a timely manner and will have a positive impact.
