#920205 please extend pvp attack range

Posted by Uncle Beg on 17 February 2015 - 21:35

If the idea is to improve PvP, then let's have a Live PvP Arena where online players can attack each other with full gears and buffs and without fear of being bountied or gained up.  What's the point of pvping if your target is offline?

Increasing the level range doesn't encourage or improve pvp.

Just my thought.

Prestige was meant to be a small bonus to xp for those that also pvp'd.

It wasn't meant to be used by levellers as an easily attained buff for every time they levelled.

It's not meant to be traded risk free.

It also wasn't intended to be stockpiled.

It was simply meant to give a small boost to help pvp'ers maintain their level while they pvp.

It shouldn't be used in any of the ways people are proposing really, be it levellers accruing it for hunts, or pvp'ers wanting to use only portions of their accumulated prestige.

Unfortunately in FS land the old adage, "Give and inch and they'll take a mile." is absurdly prevalent.

If you don't PvP anyway, you really have no dog in this hunt.

Uh, they really do because the non PvPer's are the ones who will be firmly in the cross hairs here.

#919789 25% Guild Rule In Arena

Posted by mary4ever on 16 February 2015 - 02:42

IMO the 25% rule should stay (read the other many arena threads for the reason HCS made it !!!)

me and many witnessed that when HCS introduced NEW prices (=arena tokens) that the tournaments were filling up like crazy, especially in the first week !!!!

I even saw some tournaments filling up in ~1 minute !!!

the reason was the introduction of NEW prices (= arena tokens) => huge PROFIT to be made !!!

remember when you could get with ONE single tournament ~90 arena tokens with ~40k gold and buy with the reward 9 x BM300 or 9 x LF600 pots???? with 40k gold you could have made a profit of 45 FSPs (9 pots x 5 FSPs) !!!

many of my friends participated and even though they lost many times they still made profit and that is why the tournaments kept filling up so quickly !!!

after the token prices in the arena token shop were increased (BM300 / LF600 for 100 tokens instead of 10 tokens) the arena player participation significantly decreased !!!

again, the 25% rule should stay (read the other many arena threads for the reason HCS made it !!!)

#919816 PvP attack range

"Almost everyone" includes who? The entire PvP system isn't "broken" to me, rather it needs upgrading. It might seem broken to you because you play the role of victim perfectly.

Why the fear mongering? It's cheap. It's like claiming you will quit if you don't get what you want.

So your satisfied with it as is? No changes aside from level range increase? :)

YOu heard it here first folks... no problem with system as is... no need to return to the old days... all is perfect (except for the level range)

where in the original post or in pardoux's post was there anything about no XP loss? or lack of risk... or w/e you are trying to put across

this is only another option with dealing with a PvP attack

#919596 What DON'T you like about PvP?

Posted by pinkdude on 14 February 2015 - 23:25

And your aggrieved bad attitude against PvPers is precisely why you think you have a problem. You don't. Just play the game. You alluded to the fact that I had previously done something egregious to your character. I haven't done anything against anyone that is illegal by the game's rules. Whatever happened to you(or your guild), you probably earned it. I don't have to justify my game play. I didn't design this game. I would drop you or anyone else I wanted to drop by myself if I could. I can't. The game mechanics don't allow it. You're complaining about the semantics of the term PvP instead of learning to play it.

I am not in a gang, I am in a guild. Get it straight!! Stop using offensive terms. I protect and defend players who are in my guild and also allies/friends outside my guild. Why don't you? Why doesn't your guild protect you? Does your moral compass prevent you, or is it that you or your guild are incapable? Or maybe both? That is not my fault, but yours. I am not a bully! I am an affective PvPer who has played the game for years. I will continue to drop anyone I want for any reason I want without harassing them. Maybe if an aggrieved player like yourself stops putting themselves into positions of vulnerability, aka attacking others, they can stop feeling the victim. Yes, that is how the game mechanics continue to work.

This is why I'm not a fan of PvP in its current state. So only a select few can participate in PvP? All others should stop attacking because then they will become the victim?

What do you suggest they do when they are attacked? Just accept it and try to outlevel their attacker? Because, afterall, they wouldn't want to put themselves in a position of vulnerability by attacking.

Those who take pride in their smashes are almost as big of a farce as PvP as a whole. I am not referencing all those who take pride, just those that are well connected and have large amounts of players for backup.

"Well it's not my fault I make friends. Maybe you should make friends to defend you" <---- A very common statement I see on these PvP threads. And frankly, I am dumbfounded by its popularity among PvPers. I have friends on this game and I'm sure other Non-PvPers do as well. "Why don't you get them to defend you?" I could. But its frivolous. My friends and I "care" about levels. It doesn't do us any good to gang up and attack the PvPers. The PvPers lose XP (that they don't care about) and now they can drop me and my friends all 5 levels (that we care about). I might as well just tough it out and hope it stops.

"Theres PvP Protection. Why don't you just purchase it?" PvP Protection is expensive. Not everyone has the funds to protect themselves while they try to outlevel their attacker. imo, its the FS version of extortion. I am paying gold to protect myself from PvPers. Doesn't sound quite right to me, but I'll accept it as the alternative is being constantly attacked.

There is a gang of PvPers (Gang is defined as a "group or band") that control PvP. They are essentially untouchable. Players are taught from a low level to never attack X guild or Y player because they will be constantly harassed by his/her friends. How is this a conducive environment to encourage those to PvP? Why would I want to participate in PvP if I can't target certain players because of their social rank? This is why, imo, PvP is dead.

Until this PvP oligarchy can be controlled or removed I do not think PvP will ever thrive.

endless semantics and people who don't pvp sticking their pointless oar in...

They may not PvP but they are the targets of PvP'ers and as such have every justification in posting their opinion in a thread titled "What DON'T you like about PvP."

#919557 25% Guild Rule In Arena

Posted by MrSiggs on 14 February 2015 - 18:22

I think it should stay as it is..so it does not promote cheating / exploitation...and before you say how can that be? there are others that are already scheming up ways..it always happens..I don't see the problem with the rule staying as is..so many arenas to enter..you can make arrragements with guildmates which to enter..and if you have a member that plays all..maybe that is more where the problem lies

#919500 What DON'T you like about PvP?

Posted by Rocknoor on 14 February 2015 - 00:49

I was wondering how long it would take you to get personal, I talk about a style of PvP  play I find objectionable and you get personal in a defense of that style of play.  Get this straight, I love PvP I'm just not a fan of your version of it.  I have 10 stam cleared you on the Bounty Board 3 times in the same evening and promptly lost 15 levels because you counter bountied me and called in your buddies...that's PvP your version, have your guild take care of the problem for you. Did I counter bounty any of them, absolutely not because they did nothing wrong and it's within the rules.  As a matter of fact you can not find one person in the game that I have ever bountied for any reason because I believe in PvP.  I'll settle my own fights, if you're with +/-10 levels of me I'll hit you directly to settle a score, if not you'll be on my wanted bounties list and I'll deal with you there.  My idea of PvP is not hitting some poor defenseless offline player while fully buffed and then "huffing and puffing" about how great PvP is.  You want a piece of me come at me...I'm on the Bounty Board, want to settle a problem with me let me know I'll 10 stam one of your guiild mates so he/she can bounty me and we can go one on one on the Bounty Board, in it's current system you won't even lose any XP when you lose.  That's what I consider PvP, I don't need to call in my guild to protect me. I did it to myself I should settle it myself.  That's what I consider PvP, no need to call in my guild to support me that's not their fight it's mine.  That's why you and I will never see eye to eye on PvP, I settle my own battles Player Vs Player, you call in your guild to do the job you won't or can't do. Your style of play is why I advocate no-counter bounties and XP loss for both Hunter and Hunted. Which is how we got here in the first place the topic is "What you don't like about PvP" it doesn't ask for a defense of it as you are trying to do, there is a whole other thread for that called "What I like about PvP" please stay on topic.

Well, I will thank you for all the kind words about me, especially the ones about being a poster subject. But you have it wrong about crying to anyone. I just don't do that. Never needed to because the guys and gals I've made over the years will hit for me without reason and I'll do the same for them. I actually don't remember you out of the 1000s I have dropped but I would say 99.9% of the time there was a reason. What your reason was I don't know or care but I don't need a reason after all!

Exactly my point, your approach to PvP is not Player vs. Player it's Player vs. Guild where you have your buddies gang up on whoever has "transgressed" against you with no reason necessary and that's what's wrong with PvP in it's current form.

#919466 What DON'T you like about PvP?

I don't like the fact that pvp is almost never true pvp... usually 1 party is well prepared while the other is offline or unbuffed.

I would like some type of pvp where I can go test my skills with other willing participants and battle a bunch over a shorter time frame.. once per hour is boring and a waste of buffs..
