#959869 New GvG idea

Posted by Pardoux on 27 February 2016 - 21:01

My main beef with GvG now is that uber-pots are being used in it - and thus, the ONLY way you can defend against incoming attacks is by also using them. Other than that, I think it's fine as it is.

Change GvG so that only castable buffs are allowable ? - that'll do me - that way you can at least be on a level playing field :)

Not totally befitting, but close enough :)

#958989 Code Update v2.86

Yes, the medals alert was made smaller to keep it from filling a large potion of the news page but this only made the back log grow bigger and bigger.

I may be in the minority in saying this but I think a 1-time flood of the backlog would be acceptable as would returning the notification to show all medals since the last notification.  The medal flood may be a bit annoying but that will only last a short while (even shorter if you spawn a Titan right after lol).

On the Titans, I agree with yodamus on having them spawn at random times (not just on the hour) being a good thing.

I'd say you were in the minority there - who needs to know about medals awarded to players ages ago, some of which may well not even be playing anymore.

Rather than doing a flood, to clear the backlog, simply wipe out the backlog and, in essence, start the medal announcements from scratch again - so that any on-going medal awards are noted, but nothing historical.

That's, IMO, a better way to deal with the backlog :)

Front page "log" filtering has been asked for several times already - and should, IMO, already have been implemented.

I'm not one using OP stuff all that much.

That is saved for special things, (unsolicited spanking, not into that you know) and is used or that and events. :)

I think that if people that are using those OP things stopped using those OP things the game might become more of a challenge for them, then they would not need to try and make it  more challenging for me.

I'm fine with things just the way they are. :)

If they are still in the game, then people with access to them are, of course, going to continue using them to maintain their position in game.

Saying for players to stop using them, whilst others continue to use them is kind of like asking Lewis Hamilton to drive a skoda whilst everyone else in the race drives an F1 car ... and still expecting him to place on the podium ...

Structures may not be worth the gold, but it still gives you a huge edge in the long run then a guild with low level structures. And I been in my guild since it's creation, you haven't, you got to the top with the help of others which is perfectly fine if you weren't sitting here trying to justify making the game harder for people who don't want to feed off others success. It would make more sense removing what was added to make the game easier then it would be to add diffuculty to it. It's a balancing act and I don't think adding difficulty is going to bold well for those who don't buy fsps. No game you should be forced to buy premium currency or join a guild to be able to play the game.

1. No-one is saying you should be forced to buy fsps. There are countless players in the game who take great pride (misplaced, I think, but that's a different story) in never having spent a penny on the game.

2. Most structures ARE worthless. A lot of guilds have all the structures because noobs think that "structures = success" - they couldn't be further from the truth. There are a few essentials, but most are luxuries at best and useless at worst.

3. Removing stuff that made the game easier is the scenario that most people seem to be objecting to so far

LL175, reck 175,   FI1000,  boosted only by a lesser distil, brew master and extend both at 175 or whatever mine are at.

Anything else is OP. :P

Umm, isn't that the whole point we're making about over-powered potions ? ;)

:)

But it's an apples and orange comparison. Sure it was harder but you got fsp at a better conversion rate. You sold Titan gear for many more fsps. You sold buffs at higher prices. Just focusing on the negative aspect and trying to apply it to those that follows seem like an uncool move. Since everyone (except me) wants more of a challenge, why not suggest it from level 2.9k forward? Make all buffs not work. Make all kinds of crazy ideas so YOU can have that challenge again and hope HCS doesn't change the formula later. If they do, so what? You had fun. Feel sorry for the folks after you got no challenge and move on.

Don't look backward, look forward.

Sure, there were better aspects of levelling earlier in the game, but I'd not agree with all your comments.

In reality, I don't expect the cows to change a thing regarding levelling - the comments from BG indicate the same, saying that "not everyone is in a massive guild with full upgrades" - the fact that, personally, I'm in a guild of 3 active players with a grand total of 5 structures doesn't seem to register.

Would I like change(s) ? - YES

Do I expect change(s) ? - NO

#957975 PvP ladder activity

Posted by Pardoux on 28 January 2016 - 22:37

I have had several of our new players complain about getting hit on the Ladder. I ask them  "Then why are you on the Ladder?" Their reply is What do you mean? Isn't everybody on the Ladder? How do I get off of the Ladder? It is terrable getting hit all the time. It makes me want to just quit this game.

There are 249 players on the bottom Ladder band. I have sent messages to several of them asking if they want to be on the Ladder or do they know how to get OFF the Ladder. Most of these players are not even active in the game anymore & the ones that are active are SO GRATEFULL when I tell them how to get off the Ladder.

I think this is a big problem with the game & it is chasing away a lot of players who are just getting started playing.

I think this needs to be changed so that new players have to check the Opt In box rather than having to UNCHECK the Op In box. This is just stupid & makes no sense to me.

The game NEEDS to retain new players - driving 'em away as soon as they start is completely detrimental to that process.

If they are, by default, opted IN, that's NUTS IMO.

I'm a big fan of "if you want something earn it"... Your not able to reach ruby? work on your char upgrades in the meantime so you can achieve it the next or even the event after that.

So the "Up yours Jack, I'm alright" approach eh ?

Thankfully, solving this dilemma, if it even IS a dilemma, is something for the cows to address, but I stand by the "more participation, not less" train of thought myself ...

#957518 Zombie Yeomen VI

15K kills is simplicity for someone with 20-30+K stamina - ergo, still not a challenge

15K kills for someone with 5K stam and minimum regen - is "just" about doable, assuming full stamina at the start of the event and a commitment to spend every point of it on the event.

Maybe a tiered system, somehow, where player levels / stamina banks are taken into account - but then that "penalises" those who have upgraded their characters, so I can see the downside there.

Simply upping the overall limit, or the personal kill count doesn't solve the problem, it exacerbates it because it alienates lower level / lower stamina players from being in with a chance of getting the best reward.

Could the argument that "they've not upgraded enough, they don't deserve to get the best reward" be used ? - of course it COULD, but is that reasonable ? - I don't think so. We should be encouraging more participation, not less .

How do you feel about this then...Only the top 100 get ruby 101-400 get crystal 401-700 get gold so on and so forth...If we only make crystal simply top 100 get crystal etc... This will create massive competition.

Reaping maximum benefits from minimal investment needs to stop in this game as a whole. Why not start here?

I'm all in favour of limiting the over-powered potions, but ...

changing the reward structure  to the model you suggest ONLY rewards those who least need even more over-powered potions.

Ruling most players out of a chance of getting those potions will result in a massive drop in player participation in global events - surely something no-one wants to see.

#957430 Thieves in the Night Global(GE Idea)

Posted by Pardoux on 20 January 2016 - 19:56

Yeah, I think it's a good idea. What would people think about adding older sets to the invention process as well?

This would take a bit of time to set up as it does take a while to build an entirely new Legendary events worth of beasties and sets but I do think it's a worthwhile idea.

I guess that would depend on what old sets you were referring to ?

Old, but still freely available, sets ? - sure

Old, but scarce and not freely available ? - no

I.E. If it's gonna need older LE sets to invent, then make those available in advance (either on the same day, or the previous week or whatever ... )

The idea will fail miserably if the inventing gear isn't available - and the idea is a good one, doesn't deserve to fail ;)

#957287 Fallen Sword App Beta

Posted by Pardoux on 18 January 2016 - 07:17

Usually beta servers are just a replica of your character and you can do all things on the game but any items lost or gained during time on the beta doesn't affect your main account

Hoof has said that it'll be your normal game character ...

I'd have to say, I'd prefer a "test", new character too ;)
