#918004 bring life back to the game

Posted by Pardoux on 03 February 2015 - 05:48

For this the game will need a lot more free BP Spaces, new players will suffer too much with this.

And...Without Tagged Gear, Arena will be dead VERY quickly, most of the people will hold 3 sets, Hunting, Armor and Defense, only the rich ones will have access to save more than 100 items needed for Arena.

For me, the idea of making some new items impossible to tag is nice.

Did you read my post ? ;)

Under my suggestion, guilds can have tagged gear up to and including Level 500 - that's plenty long enough for players to realise if they want to stick around and, if so, actually WORK at upgrading their character - bp / stam etc etc

There are ways of doing this without ever donating a penny to the cows - some EOC players pride themselves on never having donated.

The game is too easy at the moment, and the vast majority of the gear is worth DIDDLY squat.

As for arena, your concerns could easily be "fixed" - have a pool of gear that is available for all players to access - gear that the arena provides - gear that you mix and match from. That removes any need for players to have massive bp's just to participate ...

Guild tagging is very much a double edged sword.

It's great for low level players who can experience the game without investing by joining guilds with gear for them

It's bad for gear prices because 1 or 2 items suddenly replaces the need for 200-300 items.

As a different idea to the above, instead of limiting the NUMBER of items that a guild can tag, perhaps limit it by LEVEL ??

So, those that are starting out in the game and still low level (say, perhaps L500 and under) can still have access to guild tagged gear, but guilds CAN'T tag any equipment above Level 500 ?

BUT, there's more than just the price of the gear to take into account here .... forcing players to have their own gear opens up a whole new can of worms where they are also forced to get more BP slots. Is that necessarily a problem ? - no, but I'm sure that the howls of protestation would make it seem so.

Just throwing this out as an idea - limiting guild tagging won't affect me now, but it certainly would have when I first started out in the game. I was using mish-mash gear until I joined a guild and had access to better gear (well, better for the most part - I still found some better permutations than the tagged stuff LOL)

All that being said, I'd say there's not a snowballs chance in hell now of the cows changing how guild-tagging works :)

Scarab Carapace:

Player Backpack Total: 170     Guild Inventory Total: 0

Gnarled Horns:

Player Backpack Total: 1,601     Guild Inventory Total: 68

I Don't consider that flooded...Figure 50%+ are on dead accounts

964 Gnarled Scarab Amulets in total (at the time of writing) & 914 Gnarled Scarab Rings ....

I'm gonna have to side with Mary here - I don't think bringing out Pharaoh again was necessary. There's a surfeit of those 2 items in game already but hey ... what do I know ? :)

I'm all in favour of cheaper epics, but not THAT cheap ...

#917310 Possible Loyalty Potions?

Posted by Pardoux on 28 January 2015 - 20:04

Add some of the "useful" ones to the specials section, sure, but the sub-level 100 ones ? - just scrap 'em. Remove 'em from the game like the DC400 potion was ...

#916993 Rather than new skills why not make current buffs more powerful, or both?

Posted by Pardoux on 26 January 2015 - 01:00

I've been against this since time immemorial and I still am (if this is a "blanket raise them all" scenario) ...

OK, yes, there will be new, higher level potions available thru loyalty but ...

LOTS of people are saying the game is getting easier and easier - and this will facilitate that even more.

I'd love to see the game get HARDER again, have environments where you have to THINK before just mashing 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-R, wear the same gear for hundreds of levels...

If, however, this a VERY select few buffs that don't dumb down levelling any more (so, no attack, no defence, no armor and primarily, no damage), then perhaps.

Buffs that encourage players to participate in other areas of the game could be a viable option.

Buffs that encourage more players to titan hunt, to SE hunt, to PvP (*shudders that I actually even said that*), to compose, to make potions etc etc etc.

All that said, I'd still like to wait and see what the NEW buffs are (as and when they appear) before upgrading ANY buffs beyond L175.

Still didn't increase value of most LE items ...they are going for 1 fsps or less

Original idea meant to sink higher tier items to make them valued and worth farming in LE events not just bring new powerful potions to the game.(same goes to the SE items)

Whatever i think its late to do any change we got used to this

The reason that the LE drops are still worthless is, during the events, they rain down from the critters like a monsoon deluge. Even new critters lose all value in very short order 'cos the drop rate is too high. If LE items are meant to retain value, then the drops need to be harder to come by.

#916736 Possible Loyalty Potions?

Posted by Pardoux on 23 January 2015 - 21:20

I think you're thinking WAY too big there BG tbh. Add a few more to Loyalty, by all means, but 23 YES and 7 MAYBE is, imo, going overboard.

Add a few here and then a few weeks / months later, add another few and drip feed them. If you open the floodgates like this, what can/will you add next time players are clamouring for more ?

Of the ones you've said YES too :-

SES 200 - I'd like to see that at 250 and around 150-200 tokens.

Inventor II - No, change this to EXTRACTOR I perhaps and ramp it up to 250/300. Too many inventing boosting potions in-game already. Bump the chance of GETTING the extracts for invents, but leave the CHANCES of invent untouched. Same price as above (150-200 tokens)

Most of the others, I'm ambivalent about, tbh - they're either barely an improvement on existing buffs or are covered elsewhere by existing potions through other means.

Of the ones you've said MAYBE too :-

TH / MER - NO. You keep saying there's too much gold in the game, so why add the means to bring even more in ?

Extractor II - Yup - at 250 / 300, same as Extractor I, if you change that .. (150-200 tokens)

Find Item 1250 -  Will have to say no, even though it would help me. It's just too close to the AH FI1K which is cheap as chips and too close to the donation special of FI1500. Bump up the donation one to FI2K perhaps and make a loyalty one of 1500, but at a premium price (750 upwards).

Ringhal also makes a VERY valid point... if all these become available in Loyalty, then those of us with reasonable amounts (or greater) of loyalty points have little to nothing to assign our levelling up skill points to because most will have been superceded via other means.

#916399 Mercenaries - In DIRE need of additions

Posted by Pardoux on 21 January 2015 - 20:32

I honestly think guild mercs has become useless. items and buffs have become so powerful that in very few situations would smaller guild ever need mercs. in the larger guilds, most of the time mercs are completely forgotten

I have to agree. I see using merc only usefull in case You do not want to risk losing Your kill streak. Other than that it is much easier to take the big bad creatures solo.

Both of you are in guilds with multiple relics, one more than the other, admittedly.

The relics you have give you pretty darn good stat boosts. Not all guilds can get relics.

I'm looking at the bigger picture here - the mercs are outdated with FAR too many being of low level and next to useless stats.

Some guilds need mercs more often than others and should be able to find useful ones instead of a merc offering 20% of 172 Attack (Dwarf Veteran) for instance ..

#916218 Zombie Yeomen IV

Posted by Pardoux on 20 January 2015 - 20:30

I like Doomy's idea of simply hiding the top 100 until the event is over - and thus making it more of an incentive to "push" yourself to ensure a place in the top 100.

BUT, I also think there should be some sort of reward for lower level players who fully commit to a global too. It doesn't have to be extra chest(s), but something just to give them a lil "thanks for participating" kinda moment ..

#916147 Zombie Yeomen IV

Posted by Pardoux on 20 January 2015 - 08:24

At this stage of the event if people do not have  45000 stamina can anyone tell me what is the incentive for them to even bother trying to get more than 5 k kills ?

Agreed - there needs to be some sort of sliding scale for rewards..

Rewards based on max. stamina at the time of the event vs the number of kills achieved.

The way it works at the moment, only those with massive stam banks can hope to get into the top 100 (or those that buy current stamina) - the process is biased.

#915878 Zombie Yeomen IV

Posted by Pardoux on 17 January 2015 - 22:50

On the note of getting more multiK'ers instead of 5K'ers. I am against the idea of it auto ending once 17.5 mil is achieved. But perhaps putting each players global contribution on their profile page. May inspire more people to hunt a little more.. Would be kinda embarrassing to have 50K stam and 5K kills

Not necessarily - they may well have had almost 0 stam at the time ..

The cows would never do that tho - 'cos there'd be too many folk protesting. Naming / Shaming folk in that way, just because they chose to play the game one way rather than another way would never fly ...

#915772 next cave event

Posted by Pardoux on 17 January 2015 - 02:28

I think it has a lot more to do with low drop rates.

The number of brews in backpacks did not increase very much during the event. If I recall correctly, there are now only about 500 more flasks than there were at the beginning of that event.

OFSG indicates only 3841 currently in backpacks - which for a brew that comes out about twice per year, and last came out quite recently, is a pretty small number. For zombie brews it is over 63,000.

I've just looked at the UFSG regarding FoD - and yeah, the number there is 3839. I would have thought it was a lot higher than that.

That, however, doesn't explain WHERE those 3839 are. If, for instance, the majority are in the hands of a few players (which is entirely feasible) then the price hike is probably price gouging.

So, I'm still in favour of bringing them out more often - once a month maybe, once every 2 months at the longest.

There's too much price gouging in the game - not only does it make the rich even richer (and a lot of those complain about not having anything to spend their fsp's on ... say WHAT ?) but it also probably drives players away who can't afford to pay the gouged prices.

In 7 weeks (they were in the caves on the 29th November), the price has almost tripled ???

(No, btw, I don't have a personal need for them to come out more quickly - I have sufficient to last me until the next time they normally come out - 6 months or so)

#915753 next cave event

Posted by Pardoux on 16 January 2015 - 23:06

Release them again :P  why not if flask of death value already went from 6 fsps to 14 fsps

The only probable reason for 'em going up so much so quickly is folk hoarding 'em ...

So, yeah, there's a lot to be said for bringing 'em out again to devalue them :)

#915479 An idea to help improve the PVP Ladder

Posted by Pardoux on 15 January 2015 - 16:11

I'd love to see a ladder with 30 players on it only battling for PVP rating, not gold or to destroy each others' levels. That'd be actual competition. The way it's set up now is just a blood-sport entices players to avoid, rather than take part in.

Additionally, if there was no "real" penalty to assets, it may be an area of the game that certain new players really find enjoyable and stick with. I'm not saying it would recruit thousands to the game, but if it kept even 100 new active players in the game, that would be worth it to the Cows and community I would think.

If there are no penalties, then there should be no rewards either ;)

That said, the ladder as it stands is farcical and is on the list of things for the cows to scrap / update / replace ...

#915397 Slow Movement On World Map

Posted by Pardoux on 15 January 2015 - 07:28

Hello I logged in and read the FS news..I am just curious if anyone could please answer .. I have not received any of the reserve stamina from the 1 PM server fix ..  has the reserve stamina not been allocated yet .. has the server been fixed? anyone ? thanks =)

I brought this up with Hoof earlier - and his reply was "scheduled maintenance, no reserve stamina".

To this, I told him to look at the homepage announcement ...

He said he'd allocate some, probably this weekend ...
