#864174 My Suggestions for reviving the Bounty Board (And this is quite radical)

Posted by Gutie on 21 April 2014 - 03:27

I will cite a few things as my main viewpoint.

That the whole aspect of a sizable portion of the pvp community not having the capacity to zero in on the specfic people engaging in pvp with them (or more commonly, spazzing out over relics being taken with no insult intended), and dragging others in thier guilds to top it off who had no part in it a VERY common reason why some people

1) Don't hit back hard be it over gold hits/etc

2) Engage on the BB with people in various guilds.

1b/2b) Thus rarely engage in pvp.

3) Interact with people in certain guilds.... thus only inflating this near insane divide over pvp.

As some pvpers from having built a reputation of going overboard to "prove a point" or some such notion based on egos over a browser based game.... we have only caused a gradual drift away from pvp. The notion of a guild war as a result is by nature near impossible with how the game is today. PvPers also refuse to join "leveling guilds" on the basis of not being a lot of pvpers there.... thus pvpers clustering together, lessening the exposure and thus interest gained from having active pvpers in a wider array of guilds. Also how almost all the pvp guilds are allies/buddies is also a big reason decline in pvp exists.

Thus, the blame falls totally on both camps.... but I have to say, the notion of some of the more active pvpers having a edge to where a over the top harsh response is the norm, (NOT the rule of action) it's a bit odd to see.

Also, when was the last time you ever heard of experience pvpers ever taking the time to show newer players the ropes on how to pvp? Maybe it's because I lack such people in my guild, but I think it would do the game a lot of good if there was more of a notion of showing players how to pvp amongst guilds.....

Thus I propose a VERY simple solution.

A new guild structure.

Fighting Dojo.

Simply put. Guilds can pvp their guildmates, with no gold or xp loss.

What.... the helll... ?

Training purposes. I was told by a member of our guild one such person in this thread and a few others in her guild uses to pvp the crap out of her to show how to pvp properly.... why not give that capacity to have players show their guildmates how to pvp?

It'd be simple in many ways. You'd not be able to pvp a player using gear above their VL in your guild. But you'd be able to work out new setups, show them some pvp things, show them via combat logs and work on pvp.

Simply put a training resource to introduce players to pvp without the buzzsaw of getting their head bit off for pissing off some people with a bit too much desire to look tough via slamming down a new person to pvp.

Also, I do think that in regards to pvp in general the amount of PvP Prestige gained from pvp should be doubled.

Also the boost to the PvP Prestige buff the cap should be raised to a 20-25% increase in xp, and less prestige required to extend the time on it. Furthermore, smasher hits OFF of the ladder and BB should pay out double the amount of prestige. Increase the gold hitting imo. Anyone who REALLY cares about the gold they've got on hand should be either turning it into FSP or sending it to a guild leader to hold for them or bid said gold on overpriced gold auctions.

With these things pvp can be taught to not be the big scary boogeyman AND there be a incentive to engage in it amongst the leveling crowd. As much as I'd like to remove deflect hits from being able to cause a bounty posting, it's just not the case.

Not sure what everyone thinks about what I cited, but I DO think the structure to enable guildmmates to teach pvp to each other properly would be good. The level gap is way too wide since the days where Tarbidas raigned the supreme set to not have a resource like this to train at pvp with guildmates.

That and PvP guilds will never take the time to train a guild of bunnies how to pvp. Just a flat out fact, lol.

Anyhow, I'll ease off it there.

The 17 I got, plus what I had left, will last me until they appear in the caves again, so yes :)

It would be great if we could get some of the items on the list bunched together! Maybe like adding that guild conflict structure into the mix now while the new players are getting exempt from the guild conflicts?

#863569 An Offer I can't refuse.

Posted by Hoofmaster on 17 April 2014 - 23:42

Yep -- really awesome offer!  ... Not sure if it's just me, but appears to be a slight glitch when one hovers over the Thornvine Beserkers - Apple potion -- says "Invalid Request".  Hovering over all the other potions show the contents.

I'm sure everyone can easily find the information, but if needed here are the contents: Beserk L400, Last Ditch 500, Overkill 200 .... all for 180 minutes.

Thanks for letting us know - I've corrected that now :)

BG liked it, but will take a lot of work on it.

So we need more people giving ideas about how to do it.

#863368 Development Roadmap (Updated 7th Mar 2014)

Posted by Ryebred on 17 April 2014 - 06:20

GvG needs attention - simple moves can improve it so very much, and I see no harm in trying something that isn't a complete alteration of GvG as we know it now.

How do you start - quarterly resets.  Every 3 months reset top rated list.  Why; because the top is stagnant, and upcoming guilds so far from getting close - it's downright discouraging.

Reward the top at each reset; nothing fancy - just a little boost of RP to the tops - further increases incentive to compete.  GvGers are very proud, and little incentive is needed imo.

                1st - 300 RP

                2nd- 200 RP

                3rd- 150 RP

                4th & 5th - 100 RP

                6th-10th- 75 RP

                11th-25th- 50 RP

Don't go introducing more gear to be made with RP - want to include some updated buff packs that are with the times = great (buff packs that support the fields from which the currency to buy them is spawned would be an amazing revelation - titan hunting + GvG friendly packs) - but don't overdo it on the rewards.

New guild medals in same light of ones recently introduced to recognize outstanding achievement on guild scale would be nice perk too..they can in themseves do something small like the current "
Guild Achievements " do - can represent few different catagories - top dogs, top 5, etc.

I think this is good base idea to try.  There is no harm that can come of it in my opinion.  I believe it will create a new buzz in game; and many would be shocked at what doing a little can bring to a dying field.

Thanks for reading; feedback, suggestions, etc ~ Rye

Bumping myself...yup, I was that guy just now :P

Guild Conflict Structure (3rd Jul 2014) <--the wording on that is scary for me considering the team fortress idea once pitched in forums to "change" GvG - I like the original format myself, and think rather then a restructuring a venue of game (seeing the amazing success that approach has done for other venues) *cough cough* - still feel this idea of doing less can accomplish much more.  July 3rd not too far away either -so will keep pushing this positive promotion of something I really enjoy down the throats of FS world - Thanks all for your time again

#863345 My suggestion on reviving the Arena

Posted by Brice on 17 April 2014 - 03:11

Ok!!! So this is how I in vision a 72 Hour ARENA SMACK DOWN TOURNEY going down :D

1st. The Arena tourney will be broken up in to ladders..just like the PvP ladder..except it will break down like this:
Lvl 10 to 49
Lvl 50 to 99
Lvl 100 to 149
Lvl 150 to 200 then from here 100 lvl increments
Lvl 200 to 300
Lvl 300 to 400 and so on and so forth up to lvl 1000

2nd. There will be a 24 hour window for players to enter into the tournament prior to it kicking off( allowing time for the brackets to fill up)
Then each player is allowed to enter only 2 brackets for each 24 hour interval(once you choose there's no turning back...choose wisely my friends for you won't know where the Arena elites are going to be...LOL) THE TOP 3 PLAYERS IN EACH BRACKET AFTER THE FIRST 24 HOURS MUST CHOOSE ANOTHER BRACKET....the rest of the players can choose to stay in that bracket or move to another, and yes I see some brackets being more crowded than others but you won't know until it starts!!
3rd. Each bracket must have at least oh I don't know let's say 20 players and have a cap of 60 players...if a bracket doesn't get the required amount of players then that bracket is nullified and players must choose another. So basically there will be three 24 hour intervals during the tourney.
4th. Each player will receive 1 automatic point for just entering an Arena, in which, after so many entries you qualify for some kind of minimum prize(kind of like the global quest) additional points will be acquired depending on where you place in each Arena that is activated.
5th. There will be a minimum of 12 Arenas per hour with a cap of 24 per hour and will have the even amount of combat move Arenas and non-combat move Arenas(this way players with no combat moves can still win)
6th prizes will be handed out to the top 5 players in each bracket after the 72hour event, and a very special prize will be handed out to the top overall 5 players :D

This sounds kick butt to me, but I might be a little crazy too...LMAO!!!

#820005 PvP Colosseum (new concept to PvP).

Posted by sweetlou on 15 November 2013 - 03:16

the big question will there be enough people joining this because there are plenty of people who are scared of losing exp/gold?

[edited]

the more rewarding the more people

You answered your own question of doubt. Please don't make any rewards that'll be obsolete quickly like those of the Ladder. The ladder gear is essentially worthless. The rewards need to be valuable enough that players will risk losing xp. Kind of like Prestige, only Prestige is too weak. The higher the +% of xp, the more players would participate gaining it.

As part of the reward, just allow players to gain XP!! It's experience. The opponent is potentially much more difficult than a game mob. The possibilities to do this well are endless. The hardcore "I won't attack another player" because of xyz moral reasons will probably never get converted, but the more appealing the rewards the more participants. Let's see some old-fashioned game development.

I think your wrong about that. If someone knows what pvp its about he/she can use any type of set having a suicide % a bit higher but still be abble to kill anyone. Also it seems this would boost a little the Ladder Invented Items so about items i wouldnt worry =)

'gilbi' suggested to make it with random lvls, changing every reset, and that will require a lot of gear to be able to enter on each tournament, I like the idea of fixed ranges more than the random ones.
