#883258 Open letter to the Cows

Posted by DeadParrot on 01 August 2014 - 16:34

It would be cool if we had class selections that opened or closed the skill trees. Then New Game+ could be implemented at 2500, people could try new classes(and hopefully new buffs) that weren't in the first round of content. I've always liked that about RPGs and it would be a welcomed addition because different classes and races might make the game tougher or easier.

Official jobs/roles where you get exp based on how much you use that aspect and the more rewards/enhancements you gain from experience. Potion makers get rewarded with higher success rates and lowered components needed. Farmers get higher drop rates with a new enhancement named Scavenger or something. Composers get shorter brewing times and more exp. PVPers get higher thievery rates and chances to negate the dreaded 2% miss and Piercing Strike. GVGers could get stam saved from battles and an increased GVG target range. Arena masters could get lowered fees and bonus rewards. Titan hunters could get a lightfoot enhancement and increased stats against titans.

Gives incentive for people to try other aspects or to specialize in a certain one. More ways for lower levels to gain FSP if they choose to specialize in one aspect(similar to plant farmers now).

Never coded a game before but I don't think it would be hard to do something like this. Composing EXP formulas could probably be used as the basis then just tie in the EXP earned to new enhancements that can only grow through experience and not buffs.

I'm in, sign me up.

howdy

though it is not labeled as such, this is the off-topic section of the forum. you'll get more attention placing it in the forum of the game to which this post is referring (please note my recent posts in this section about poutine, and lurking in gluten forums)

i doubt your suggestion would ever happen, as it would encourage multi and shared-password accounts farming TKP

#883099 Chompers Attack!

Posted by Gutie on 31 July 2014 - 17:21

Pretty close to my power chompers themed picks for chompers. Only ones I'd whine for are some of the higher level ones, so I'm guessing those are coming next month. *gets ready to farm dusk chomper next month* But Blue, Red, Yellow, and of course NEW Chomper gear were something that are a big help to everyone imo.

...

People have genuine dislike for support here and the lack of it they receive.

Compared to other games, I find the level of support in FS to be "boutique" like in that is very attentive, personal and helpful. There have been just a couple tiimes I would have wished for a different response with an issue, but I understood the logic of the response. There have been more times, however, that I've been blown away with the generosity of the response; for example, getting things back that had expired in my mailbox.

There's another game I'm playing right now. They did a major revamp of the game. For over a month they blocked the Bugs & Issues Forum Thread and would accept no Support Tickets that were about the upgrade. There's a warring system in it that is a bit like our GvG system; however, much more vital to your game and you can't "declare victory" thus you have some "guilds" at war for well over a month and they have to hit 50% of the targets every day to keep the war active, so they're slogging away wasting stam and the Developer's response has been we "fixed it" and it's coming out in a future update and the players don't know when that update will occur.

I've had other games respond to a problem where I couldn't play a month after I submitted the ticket!

I did something stupid one weekend and locked myself out of my account. ON THE WEEKEND!! -- I got a response and a fix from Hoof! That level of support is RARE!

So in my opinion, we are living in the lap of luxury Support here in FS/HCS. Support is a time consuming and tedious task no matter your industry and I'm grateful for the level of awesome support we get here.

Sorry -- but just felt that comment was unfair, at least in my experience, but then again I always try to be respectful. I'm sure that's not the case with everyone.

Sincerely, Kath

#882936 Increase The PvP Attack Range

Posted by Pardoux on 30 July 2014 - 20:18

Although I'm not into PvP, I could and would agree to a wider PvP. However, PvP should be changed that both players (attackers and attacked) have to be at least to be in the same realm. I understand that PvP is part of the game, but to me it feels a little bit silly that the attacker can sit somewhere miles away and look through a list of potential targets.

In my opinion if one wants to do PvP he should also actively have to look for targets in the realms and use stamina the same way as levelers have to use stamina running around the realms to kill monsters.

I can guarantee that you'll get a comment here that references SigmaStorm2 and that games demise. What that comment says though is, at best, only partially correct ;) (sits back and waits for the inevitable comment ... )

#882635 If we implemented 3 FSH features, which would you pick?

Posted by Hoofmaster on 28 July 2014 - 13:21

The next major feature on the roadmap (Improve Quick Buff) actually ties in nicely with this, so when making the improvements, we're going to look at the features provided by FSH for it and integrate them :)

#882813 Increase The PvP Attack Range

Posted by Pardoux on 30 July 2014 - 00:03

What's the matter Pardoux? Why shouldn't PvP open up a bit? It doesn't directly affect you, and it would spark up a currently dying game.  I admit that I primarily play the PvP part of the game, but I do other things as well... There just need to be more PvP opportunities as time progresses... If you don't want to PvP, that's your prerogative, but you don't have to force feed us your opinions...

Just my 2 Pennys

*chuckles* - so, because I look at PvP from the flip side of the coin, I'm force-feeding my opinion ? LMAO - I could accuse PvP'rs of doing exactly the same if I wanted :)

You're entitled to your viewpoint on PvP - and so am I.

Opening up the target "restrictions" would affect me too btw - the opening post asked for the gap to widen - and subsequent posts have suggested that the gap widen further every "x" amount of levels ...

PvP protection is an anathema to PvP'rs, I understand that - but, if there wasn't the demand for it, then it wouldn't get used and all ranges would have plenty more targets. To me, that says (a few / some / a majority - only cows know the figures) like and use it (and thus want to avoid PvP) ...

#882802 Increase The PvP Attack Range

Posted by Pardoux on 29 July 2014 - 23:08

Make it so I don't have to level... just do away with xp. No conflict, no challenge, no game! Want a game without PvP, go play one. Why are you guys so opposed to PvP when it has always been an integral part of the game? Have you ever tried it?

What you see as a conflict, a challenge, others see as something they want no part of. The only PvP I ever did was when early quests required it (now removed, as you know) but that doesn't mean I should have to continue with it.

I'm not saying it's not part of the game - it is - but different players play different facets of the game - and until all are "semi-obligatory" as PvP is (as in you can't preclude it other than paying to opt out) then none should be.

No-one HAS to level (unless they want to target a specific range for pvp)

No-one HAS to kill SE's

No-one HAS to take part in the arena

No-one HAS to titan hunt

No-one should HAVE to take part in PvP

(EDIT)

Also, why does the idea of PvP being opened up as  a free-4-all for those that want to take part in it, whilst allowing those that don't want to, to completely avoid it, scare PvP'rs ? - is it because they realise that they'll have even fewer targets than they do now ?

#882656 Increase The PvP Attack Range

Posted by Gutie on 28 July 2014 - 16:26

More PvP can be encouraged by scrapping the ladder and bringing back the old pvp rating system from when I started in '09. All this is going to be is people clustered together having free reign to mass delevel people they don't like, and prestige trading and farming with people they do. Anyone who says that won't be going on on a number of occasions if we do this is lying.

The bring back the old rating system and reduce the price of pvp protection in the gold upgrade section, gold sink and widen the pvp game. Increasing the rate at which players can go through content from 1-400 and 422-940 by boosting the xp creatures in those zone give a piece will drastically reduce this issue of "not enough people in range"

As I've said before boosting the benefit of xp gain and the amount of xp/hour that items/gear/epics given in xp gain will also aid this as well as give value to some items typically not deemed worthwhile. (But that's totally off-topic there I admit)

In short if HCS is willing to accelerate advancement through content to mid-level content and retain the long drawn out process for post Karthak, you'll have a lot more people sticking around long enough to engage in other areas of the game, including pvp, making donations as they feel they're actually getting somewhere and thus more targets to pvp with and against each other..... accelerating old content will address a large chunk of issue FS has at this point in time.

We didn't have 2175 levels of content back 3 years ago, so anyone trying to use the "win button" argument that started playing pre 2010 is full of BS as far as I'm concerned.

Play retention will do more than enough good to resolve this for those in the mid-hundreds like you Badpenny. It will also make it less "painful" for bunnies to test out and get their butts kicked by making forays into pvp when it's not 1-2 weeks of work undone for testing out an area of the game they hadn't done before and getting a taste of it. Sure make the level loss more meaningful post Karthak, but really this whole aspect that it takes almost two years for a new player even with heavy donating to get to that point when EOC is now past 2000, is literally killing the game, which cascades into every aspect of it, in particular getting people involved into the game long enough that they WANT to get into pvp/gvg, and might even be willing to LOSE levels to get into a zone they'd like to fight it out in...

Doing so might actually create totally new level zones to become competitive that had never been truly competitive before in FS, which can create a whole separate niche for pvpers to fill for guilds and players as a whole in those areas of the game with the increase in targets reaching that zone.

#882610 Increase The PvP Attack Range

Posted by Gutie on 28 July 2014 - 07:02

Or... how about we finally accelerate content under level 941 so people actually stick around in high enough quantity to get to said ranges.... more targets is the issue. This can be done without messing with PvP itself. All this does is enable a bunch at EOC to prestige trade in higher quantities.

I'm 100% against enabling someone to hit in a number further below them than they ever could in a pvp band....

Example being the 950 vs 1200 vs 1310/1425 vs 1550/1600 gap for gear. If both are properly buffed up the higher level can tank up with NMV deactivate NMV hit at will, buff up again, rinse and repeat. No thanks.

The point was to keep it within close range so it actually took doing some math and thinking of "can I beat those stats? what do I need to do so?" to be able to pvp not just sit there with highest defense/armor setup that bottom end can't touch and turtle until you feel like hitting back.

Lets be honest all this does is encourage the circling the wagons for people in certain guilds to gang up on people as they are known to do. Take note the habits of guilds whose members are backing this.

Don't cry about not having targets. They're there, it's just people have run out of targets to milk for prestige without getting slapped on the board. If you want to pvp people so badly pvp the people you have in range.

Lastly, the whole concept should then be to hit up then. If you want to actually do as you're claiming you should be asking to be able to hit up... not widen the range, which specifically proves to me this has nothing to do with improving anything and everything to do with people either

1) Farming Prestige

2) Widening the amount of people they can harass for (typically) no reason someone with any sense would find rational whatsoever. (I'm not referring to anything aside from that some just like to mess with people just because they felt like it, not exclusive to FS this concept, just gaming in general.)

3) People bored because no one wants to do ladder due to no profit aside from padding smasher medals.

4) Certain guilds wanting to have a bigger capacity to act like they're tough slamming people while they're offline in a browser based game for some perceived slight, knowing full well their friends will 10-stam-clear them rather than take equal to what was dished out. (Something that a lot of bunnies cry about, which in the system we have now isn't that big a problem if you stay off the board).

5) Where beforehand people had to go out of their way to massively de-level people, this will enable people to do so on a whim. If cows approve this expect a LOT of people to consider quitting FS.... pvp range of 50 (let alone 100) at any stretch is beyond stupid. We see enough of punitive action at EOC as it is now.

Edit: In short, you will never see me in favor of this. Yes I take note this is 3 days old now and possibly a dead convo.... but I can't see how this is even remotely rational, when we can simply accelerate the early content, which benefits everyone.

FS has been and should continue to be your premier game. There is nothing wrong with diversifying but FS has been feeling the lack of love for quite some time.

Perfectly summarized! My sentiments exactly!!
