#882864 Open letter to the Cows

People have genuine dislike for support here and the lack of it they receive.

Utter nonsense. Support bends over backwards to help people. Generally, the ones who feel they don't get help from Support are the troublemakers who do not see why rules should apply to them.

A huge amount of feedback we get from players is that they actually love just how much we do for them through Support.

With all due respect, and I mean that precisely, your posts are repetitive and cater only to your segment of the population. With regard to drawing players back into the game....are you telling me from your perch, that allowing players to play more than ONCE A WEEK (such is the case with myself at about 16k stam and 101/hour) IS A BAD THING??!?!?  How on Earth, or any planet for that matter, can you actually justify the items you are writing about. This game needs bodies, not idyllic scenarios.  Sometimes we don't like the things that happen, but are done for the greater good, ask a Vulcan.

DP

I said earlier that increasing stamina gain / hr is fine, IF THE COWS CAN PUMP OUT CONTENT MUCH FASTER.

Now lemme run this scenario by you - one that you seem to want.

Let's increase stam gain by, let's say, hypothetically, 25 / hr.

Let's also assume player A has 20,000 stamina.

If their stam gain is currently 100, it'll take them 200 hrs to regenerate fully - 8 days and 8 hrs

Bump them up to 125 and it'll take 160 hrs - so almost 2 days less - 6 days and 16 hrs

Over 100 days with 100 regen, the player can hunt 12 times

Over 100 days, with 125 regen, the player can hunt 15  times

So, increasing stamina gain by 25 / hr in the above example means that, in total, a player can hunt 3 times extra / 100 days -  54 times / yr as opposed to 43 times / yr.

With boosted regen, we just end up with ALL players accelerating through existing content faster and faster, putting more and more pressure on the cows to provide more and more content of whatever form.

Now, you could argue that the extra stamina gain be limited to lower level players to "fast-track" them through the earlier parts of the game. In theory, that's a fine idea. But where do you have the "cut-off" ?

Level 500 ? - Level 1000 ? - If the extra regen stays, then we're back to the comment above about cows needing to bring out content faster and faster.

And if that "extra" regen IS capped, then how do you manage it ? - do you remove it at the "cut-off" point ? - I'm sure players who've paid for it (assuming that's how it would be implemented) would love to see it be removed once they reached that mystical level. Even were the extra regen FREE until that level, you'd still get players crying that they'd lost it by going 1 level beyond the cut-off.

I'm ALL in favour of keeping "bums on seats" in the game - but I don't think this is the way forward for it. Maybe increasing starting players to, say, 5K stamina (with all other players getting the increment too, of course) would be more use. At least then they'd be able to play for longer than with 1k stam - and, if you hunt without doubler at low levels, 1k can last quite an amount of time ?

I have thought this as well...

Currently I have just over 9K stam, and it takes almost a week to build up to full...  I want to be able to play every day, and I know the majority of loyal players feel the same way.  It's time to upgrade stam gain. I would pay for it, wouldn't you?

In the interest of playing devils advocate here (and, I admit, I was curious about the numbers ... )

Let's assume your stam is 9k and it takes 6 days and 6 hrs to regenerate fully.

That gives us 9000 / 150 which equals an hourly regeneration of 60 stamina.

There are plenty of ways to bump up your regain / hr above that already.

1. Epics worn would give you +18 / hr if you wore all +2 items

2. Epic Quests (the 3 that I can find) would give you +5 / hr

3. And then there's the +1 stam gain for 25 fsp in upgrades = +25 / hr there

What I'm trying to say there is that there are already plenty of options for you to pay to upgrade your stamina gain ;)

Bring back terminated players? Or at least those who are banned for morevthan a year?

Insaner ... that's well um .... :)

We want the good, not the bad & ugly, back :)

Been requested before - and, thankfully, declined every time.

They were terminated for a reason ... we (as in the majority of players) would like more integrity putting back into the game - re-instating terminated players would have the opposite effect.

#882635 If we implemented 3 FSH features, which would you pick?

Posted by Hoofmaster on 28 July 2014 - 13:21

The next major feature on the roadmap (Improve Quick Buff) actually ties in nicely with this, so when making the improvements, we're going to look at the features provided by FSH for it and integrate them :)

none

don't make it a game for dummies make the people actually use their brain ...

My brain does not get challenged by repetitive clicks, it gets bored.

Hence all of them.

#882499 Mercenaries - In DIRE need of additions

Posted by Davros81 on 27 July 2014 - 00:06

I know that upping the "stats/levels" of the mercs would only increase those hunting the SE, (or for some quests), giving some a "new" aspect of the game to play!  i do know it is frustrating for someone (me, lol) to wait for my guildies to join my group, cuz im sure there are also many guilds with members in different time zones that have the same problems. This would, IMHO, attract more to play...sink gold FSP and RL money, all favorable things to the DEV...and for those of us who do use them, a more positive hiring experience...lol...as apposed to a drop off of players....i think.  thanks!

precisely yes soloing an elite or Super Elite is challenging but some play this game for fun and do not wish to resort to (in their minds) advanced maths to solve the riddle to kill the mega monster. Keep the game fun not a maths challenge hence the requirement for updated mercenaries.

I don't understand all this bickering about it... I see no problem with a revamp to the mercs in the game, It's been a really long time, after all

#882152 Mercenaries - In DIRE need of additions

Posted by Pardoux on 25 July 2014 - 05:42

Every Single critter in game can be soloed by a player its level......without a merc in sight...except a few at really low levels..

Quite possibly true with the right gear and the right buffs - but because some of us have that gear/those buffs, we're to leave those who haven't in the cold ?

What's the harm in revamping the mercs to bring them more in line with the current level of the game ?

#880353 A note from the FSH Developer

Posted by Hoofmaster on 22 July 2014 - 10:14

Yuuzhan,

Firstly, I just want to chip in here too and say a big thanks from myself and the rest of the FS team. FSHelper has definately improved the game experience for many players and I realise it was a lot of work to build and maintain.

I discussed it with Zorg and one option he suggested was to setup a managed (by us) public repository which would allow contributions to the script from other developers that we then vet and integrate to the project.

However, I feel the best way forward is for us to actually implement the features now, rather than have any external script requirement that some may not be able to use for whatever reason (browser, OS etc.). I'm going to be going through the thread on this later today to tally up which features we should focus on first then take it from there :)
