IMO to increase PvP activity is to revert back to the orignal PvP system BEFORE the many PvP RESTRICTIONS !!!!

i would like to see the pvp attack range widened, at the moment its only +/- 10 levels from 200 up.

i would like to see it go as:

 

level 25 -  200 +/- 5

level 200 -500 +/- 10

level 500 - 1000 +/- 25

level 1000 - 1500 +/- 50

level 1500 - 2000 +/- 100

level 2000 - 2500 +/- 150..

 

i feel those ranges would increase interest in pvp as it would open more targets for each player.. at the moment with the current range settings, i have 11 targets.. 1 is a guild m8, 1 is inactive, and 2 have pvp protection

thousands of tokens in players arena storage...nothing they can put out will revive arena again...we need players...not things that keep players from joining..plain and simple..arena will no longer ever have something valuable to win...took way to long to get new arena prizes..every arena player that play a lot can buy tons of whatever they may eventually ( been 3 years since new arena prizes)...put out to buy...tokens are like tickets in a kiddie arcade..used for plastic toys....we need players...whatever can be done to increase players needs to be done..and more tourneys...2700 levels for 60 tourneys...very bad

Perhaps the real problem with the arena then is not the prizes but the lack of interest from the majority of players.  I don't play the arena because I don't have the time and money to be competitive, regardless of the rewards.  There are definitely some players who are arena pro's if you will and they dominate that area of the game.  I won just enough arenas to get my bronze medal but I couldn't afford to keep pouring a bunch of money into something with little to no return.  Yes that's a reward value problem but it's also a lot more complicated.  Are entry fees too high, especially given the value of the rewards?  Possibly.  Should the moves and how the tourneys are carried out be re-worked to even out the playing field a bit?  Possibly.  My point is that the arena needs something to make the everyday player feel like they can at least have a shot at winning something and get some measure of entertainment value.  Otherwise, they just won't bother to enter which is what we are seeing now.  There are no clearcut answers to this problem and the solution won't be quick or easy.  Whether or not the 25% rule is in place will not make or break the arena because it's problems are much bigger than how many people from one guild can join any given tourney.

This *Script Detection* is nothing but a bother it doesn't actually catch the *Scripters*. It just bothers the normal hunters trying to kill a titan through rightful means. I mean if it is actually detecting scripters Cows made an incredible scripting detection system because i didnt even know i was scripting *Sarcasm*. I think this needs to be looked at and possibly removed or changed. I know im not the only one out there being impacted by this that doesn't script. If this is actually working correctly you need to go ban 50% of the titan hunters out there because they are all potentially using scripts. I want to know how many people this actually caught over how many months/years this has been implemented...0? This horribly slows titan hunting...It already takes over 3-4 hours to secure a titan alone...I'm almost at the point where i have to unplug my ethernet cord and hunt on 1 bar of wifi and i'll probably still be impacted.

i just would like to see an update on this thread with the new dates...not the old dates where we have no idea what is going on..is that to much to ask ???..at this time i dont have any idea what is really in the plans and when

I would personally like to see NO dates whatsoever on the thread. That way there is no false hope being given out. A simple "On the queue" and "In progress" would do just fine.

Moonfrost, as much as I concur with your position on the removal of XP loss from PvP'ing I believe that you have completely missed the point on the hunting of the werepanda and other "monsters". As can be seen from each "hunting area" (realm) there is an extreme over-population of said "monsters" in most of the designated hunting areas.  Left unchecked this overpopulation will lead to the starvation of most of the little "monster" kids due limited food resources in each area.  As a duly appointed hunter, authorized by HCS, my job is to insure the survival of each "monster" species by thinning out the male population of said species so that the less advantaged of the species (kids and stay at den moms) have sufficient resources to survive.  As these male "monsters" are dispatched, my HCS hunting tag only allows me to dispatch the males, HCS rewards me with XP.  I would rather have the pelt and the meat as I have little ones to feed and clothe also, but HCS in it's infinite wisdom won't let me have those and only gives me "digital" XP and gold as a reward. Were it not for the services of myself and other hunters all creatures in the "hunting zones" would perish, leaving no hunters at all  in any of the realms.  As hunters are part of the natural HCS food chain the lack of Hunters would also spell the eventual  starvation and death of the dreaded  "Great White Shark" of hunters the PvP'er. As a matter of self-preservation Moonfrost, I'm sure you would not like to see the demise of the PvP'er through a painful starvation process due to the absence of  the tasty Hunters that have left all the realms to find greener pastures (hunting areas) in an alternate venue that you cannot access. For the sake of balance in our FS microcosm it is imperative that XP gain and loss be left undisturbed in our little corner of the universe.

I see a pattern. Many say xp is so easy to gain back that it's a joke. So why not get rid of the joke :)

Yes, I do think most pvprs are honorable but for those who arent, the current game mechanics hugely favor them and you are at their mercy. I can't wait to take advantage of that exploit myself. I'm not anti pvp. I'm for fairness. I understand why many are against this change as they will lose control of a part of the game that they have mighty control over. No one dares challenge or get run into the ground.

Oh, I love these threads. What a way to start a constructive argument!

 

 

1. Folk slapping you on a prestige hit and then getting abusive / crying when you bounty them

If you drop them 5 levels, watch how often that continues to happen... or are you incapable? Being incapable of dropping someone 5 levels is the cause, as I see it, for most PvP complaints. If more players had the fortitude this wouldn't be an issue.

 

2. PvP'rs that just attack those that are not of a like mind - pvp should be player vs player, both of which WANT to participate.

So I'm curious here, are players supposed to read minds now? If a player adds that they "don't PvP" in their bio that should be enough right? Players should respect what another person asks. Wrong. Without the adversity in the game, it dies. Example, without sorrow there can be no true understanding of happiness. Another example, Sigmastorm2. Players know from the onset others attack them and they will lose xp. But wait, "I worked hard to earn that xp." Then you should work hard to keep it and, again, have some players(preferably in the same guild - let's call them enforcers like in hockey) show some fortitude.

 

3. PvP's that hit folk with no gold on hand (or next to none) when there has been no provocation issued (and yes, despite protestations, it DOES happen) - i.e. targetted player has minimised the risks, but to no avail.

Let's call this one a Prestige hit, oh well. I personally think players simply get offended just by the language in their log. "You were defeated by luisspamer in combat. [ View Combat ]. Just sounds mean. What if the log stated, "You were given a 10 stam love tap by luisspamer. He wanted you to know it was nothing personal and only meant to gain prestige." Wouldn't that sound better? If you really are bothered by losing xp, xp protect. It's cheap. You can even buy it for gold so you aren't hit for gold ironically.

 

4. PvP's that hit someone and then when that person has the audacity to return a hit, calls a bounty and delevelling party.

 

 

If PvP is going to thrive again in the game then something needs to be done to stop so many players being p***ed off by it ..

I would be hard pressed to find someone that acts in such a manner, but hey, I can see uses for it and have myself used this tactic. What if there was a previous history with this player or his/her guild? If the previous egregious matter had been left unsettled, you bet I would use any means necessary to "punish" that player. But as said, this is really such a rare occurrence it's not worth justifying even though I have.

 

On the larger picture of how the game is developed, it would be nice to reduce the unhappiness some players have with PvP, but not for the sake of the game itself. Players have been given an extremely affordable way to avoid xp loss through PvP protection. If players are unable or incapable of defending themselves there is now an alternative. If they choose to use it, it allows them to control their own happiness and destiny in the game, yes for a price. Why the complaints?

I don't like all the wild accusations of how terrible pvp and all who participate in it are.  Even one of the most vocal anti pvp'ers (chewsomething) told me that the majority of pvp'ers are honorable in their dealings yet all pvp'ers continue to be painted with the broad brush of scum of the earth.  I don't see people calling for all levelers or all merchants to be punished and have their preferred game style drastically altered because a few of them have been less than honorable at some point in the past.  Pvp'ers have a way of sorting out their own.  Those that are honorable will become a valued part of the pvp communiity.  Those that are less than honorable will quickly find themselves on the outside looking in.  Furthermore, what may have happened, or just rumored to have happened, way back in the day is past.  Let it go.  The game has changed and so have the players so let's focus on how things operate today.

Let me be the first to say that I love PvP, that being said I don't like it in it's current form.  When you engage in PvP, be it prestige, gold hits or just smashing for the heck of it, you assume certain risks.  Those risks entail being hit back 1 on 1 or more often the case being placed on the BB. Here is where my problem with PvP starts.  Being placed on the Bounty Board is "punishment" for some infraction you perpetrated on the placer of the Bounty.  If you lose 5 then shut up that's just part of the deal. Where my problem starts is the "rules" that the hunted go by...don't start on a current bounty, don't 100 stam me, don't do this don't do that or I'll counter bounty you.  Why should anyone on the Bounty Board be able to counter bounty anyone? You are there as a "punishment" why should you be able to respond to the attacks that you caused by initiating a PvP attack on someone  by being able to counter bounty?  In my humble opinion there should be no ability to counter bounty a bounty hunter. You got yourself placed on the BB, deal with consequences and move on.
