As a veteran FS player, I'd like to say that this is a truly addictive game, simply because of all the friends I have made here....

I just had one of the supposedly top PVPers in the game (a player right at the top of one of the Top PVP lists) buy PVP protection and opt out of the ladder on me.
This would be the very same player that complained loudly on this very forum about players being allowed to do that. Can we please stop pretending about all this 'real' PVP stuff? What further evidence is required that its dead and the only reason folks want it continuing is to be able to gang up on the BB for smash parties which happens to be a favorite activity of this player.
You want XP loss, the new system has it, you want level loss, the new system has it, you want the challenge of playing the best at PVP, the new system promotes it. What exactly does the new system not have that the current does to demand such loyalty from PVPers? The only reason to cling on to what currently exists would be the overly vindictive and petty Player Versus Guild on the BB to strip off leveling XP and levels on a whim.
I think Pardoux and Davros have elaborated pretty well where the administrators want to take this game and where this idea would end up, no point in repeating it.
Sorry Mary, I really love and respect you but can't get behind this, I like the original intent of the game creators in having the game be Player Versus Player, singular, not Player Versus Guild that it has become and the new system shows some promise in that direction, albeit needing some work. Its time to let the old way go and embrace the change.
I wasn't going to comment here, I was going to let everybody else give their take on it and reserve my judgment... This spurs me to speak, however.
This change to PvP is coming... No amount of ideas or protests will change that. Common sense tells me that these changes won't come till next year, so there's plenty of smashing time left for those that crave it...
I don't bully, but I do love smashing, seeing XP and levels drop is oddly fun and exhilarating, however if it has to be removed for the betterment of all, then who am I to say differently? I care about this game... It's an important part of my life... It saddens me to think that so many are so averse to a change that can only benefit the entire FS community... I don't understand, anymore than I do the hate mail I have gotten lately concerning my position on this very issue. Please, let's stop the bickering and the fruitless exercises in futility that threads such as these are....
Mary, I can't say that I know you. I understand that you are trying to preserve a part of the game that you feel is precious... In a way, it's precious to me, too... but consider this (the rest of you, too) Fallen Sword is the only game that I play where there has ever been any XP loss involved in its PvP system... It's also the only one without a system for granting XP for PvP... the new changes address this... Who is to say it won't be better?
Maybe BG is right... XP loss has become anathema and detrimental to the game, simply because it can be used so easily to bully... Is it really a bad thing to try to fix this? Sorry, but I think it can only be good for FS, no matter my personal feelings concerning this issue...

Thanks so much for all of the support you all have given me. It makes my heart sing to know that I'm still respected, as I have striven to be respectable in all that I do.
This is difficult for the PvP player, as we can easily gain reputations as a bullies... I don't want to be seen as that, and I work hard to temper my avarice and viciousness with empathy and mercy. Unfortunately, not everyone does this, which has caused the changes that are coming soon.
I think that I make clear my opinions about this game, and I know that not all agree with my views, as I disagree with many of theirs, but I hope that we can continue to respect each other's opinions and stop all the back-biting, sniping and bickering... It's counterproductive and only serves to flame the fires.
Thank you for allowing me to share and for taking the time to read and/or post ![]()

I feel that I am well-versed in the area pf PvP. I am also an avid bounty hunter. I'm sorry, dear, but form a bounty hunter's perspective, this dog won't hunt. For one, it would be confusing, to hunter and prey alike. Secondly, It would make the cost of bounty hunting prohibitive and would serve to kill, rather than enhance a dying avenue of the game... Sorry, that's what I feel

Although I did vote to keep XP loss, I don't think this will save it. It's gone, we should have a nice memorial smash and adapt to the new...

only a small portion of fs has said they wont this change , but thats the way it goes it seems . before we all ways had a poll of yes or no if we wonted a change why not now ? it seems that all the changes are for a small group of fs didnt enough pvp player not voice there views enough to worent a poll ?
Sugar, I don't want this change either, and I have publicly stated this. The thing is, this change is coming, we have no choice...BigGrim has stated as such in Global chat. XP loss is going away. Let's stop debating this and come up with ways to make this work right, instead of sniping at each other and blaming others for this change, it's not really anybody's fault

I have played Fallen Sword for a very long time. Everybody knows this. I have made many friends over the years, and I love each and every one of you. You are the main reason that I play Fallen Sword.
Dramatic changes are coming to Fallen Sword. At first, I was alarmed and angry about them, and apprehensive that these changes would destroy my favorite game. But the powers that be assure me that they will not let this happen, so I have chosen to trust them and try to embrace the changes. I have made this choice public, and have received some unexpected criticism. I have been called a traitor, pathetic and disappointing. Being told these things is hurtful.... and it makes me sad to think that I am not as respected as I have endeavored to be. I am not complaining here, that is not the intent of this note, just stating facts. My point is, I just want those that have these opinions to know that I am none of these things, and that I hope you will reconsider. Know this, my feelings about you have not changed, and you will always have a place in my heart.
Please don't judge me by the company I keep. Fallen Sword is a diverse community, and my alliances stretch across all class lines. I judge you by yourself, not your game style or your level or even your longevity in the game, and I would hope you would judge me in the same manner.
To everyone who has stood behind me in these difficult times, thank you. You can't know how much it means to me. Thanks for being my friend.

And I see we still have bickering. This serves no purpose. No amount of debate is going to stop this change, it's a matter of when, not if. So the merits of XP loss vs no XP loss are moot.... We're supposed to be searching for solutions that will be best for all, not one side or the other.
I have many friends here, not only PvPer's, but levelers, SE hunters, Titan hunters, etc.... Each and every one of us has a different style of play... That's part of what makes this game so successful, the diversity of the community.
This change will eliminate a problem that has been here since day 1... people don't want to lose levels they worked so hard for. I understand that more than you know. I don't necessarily like being down levels all the time, it's just always been part of the game, but with this change, I might just catch up with my peers. I can't see this as a bad thing.
Those of you that think I have become a traitor to the PvP community, I have not. I am still a hardcore PvPer, that will never change. I just think that I have to stand behind what is best for the entire community.

Other stuff ~
Furthermore I detest the idea that the new "xp" which is to be transferred be called "blood" it is a horrible idea, truly horrible, please call it Prowess or something less grotesque!!
Or call it honour.. You will gain more honour by attacking better player.. You might even want to make it so that you loose honour if you attack someone with 0 honour..
Ofcourse if you both have very few honour you still get some, just to boost things up. But it would be smart to make it so that you have an real choice. Do I do an goldhit on someone with 0 honour and loose some of my own doing it... Or do i leave that target alone and take on the real pvpers.
This was brought up in global chat the other day, and I have also received some private correspondence on the subject. The general consensus is that the term "BLOOD" is too negative, uncouth, distasteful, and without class... after careful thought on my part, I tend to agree.
I'm sorry, Doomie, I understand where you came up with the term, but, we need for this to be a positive classification, to foster the desire to PvP in the first place.
As for the rest of you, your ideas are listened to.... if you post them... please, speak up about this... it's YOUR game, just as much as mine or anybody else's....

Lemme see here... Gold.... the amount of gold stolen is already pretty randomized, with the odds being the take being less than 25% most of the time. Occasionally, that amount will go as high as 50%, and very very rarely, MT kicks in....I really believe that this is a good rate of exchange, and should remain untouched...
In all of these cases, gold is left behind, scattered on the ground... What if the ratio of this gold to gold taken was proportionate to the Blood level of the attacker? Say for a lower Blood level player, 20% gets scattered, whereas with the more experienced player, that rate drops to say 17%... and so on.... this way, the would be thief has some incentive to increase their Blood level if they want their Banditry career to have any success... I hope this makes sense... Let me know ![]()
