#1004065 Possible Relic Alterations

Posted by BadPenny on 14 June 2021 - 14:50

Hey there.

Not adding, altering. There are plenty of Relics in game. It's not just Stam Gain that's on the table of pre existing bits and bobs. There are other Enhancements we could use. Things for inventing perhaps. Maybe a tiny smidge of Temporal Shift. Though there are a few enhancements that are creature only.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback so far. We're reading everything.

~ Grim

Some PvP specific enhancements could be in order....  Thievery, MT, Protection, Protect Gold, Duelist.... Those "unwanted" relics that are increase basic stats really do need some love.

#1003936 UFSG Missing Items

Posted by BadPenny on 29 May 2021 - 06:01

Designations for quest items that are needed for a future quest, and of an invented quest item of gear being needed to kill a specific critter would be nice, also if an item/resource is from a seasonal quest of any kind, that would be good to know as well.  The same goes for critters from seasonal quests, so nobody tries to go kill Flame Deer for a DQ.

Although I had heard from others that responses to tickets are slower than we are used to, I myself have always gotten prompt responses to mine.  Granted it has been a while and my last ticket was for a lost quest item, even bugs and anomalies I have reported were at the least given a response of "thanks for letting us know" or at the least "we are aware of the situation and will address it some day" usually by next business day....

What concerns me is that many of the people that have spoken to me about long wait times for tickets are those with payment issues.  This is a matter that I know hoof takes quite seriously and that BG always paid special attention to.... My only hope is that the new support team handles things with the same promptness and professionalism that I have always received.

Although it irritates me that bug reports are appearing in the forums more and more these days, what cows need to remember is that we actually had a forum section specifically for bug reports on the old forum....  Maybe you should bring this back, if only to relieve some of the workload of those who address tickets for more *serious* matters.  At the least, an official thread should be pinned so that there is a place for us to report minor bugs rather than strain the support staff with such minor details...  Food for thought.

what i fear:

players get cows to be transparent. 2 seconds later, players attack cows for:

1. not understanding players
2. not understanding the game
3. being too slow to implement
4. introducing too powerful items
5. introducing too weak items
6. introducing too ordinary items
7. ...

in other words, the call to be open is really a trap for the cows.

You forgot the real catch-22.... too much change too fast.... Many FS players appear to be old fuddy duddies and stuck in their ways.

OK guys, this is something that needs to be fixed sooner rather than later. This is just one of many "cosmetic" issues that have cropped up in recent times, the kind that are irritating rather than game breaking.  But if you read some of the things that new players say about the game, one of the foremost things they say is that it appears to be a dying or already dead game just based on what they see in "cosmetic" issues.  Devoting a tiny slice of your valuable time for this sort of thing will go a long way to instilling confidence again:

There used to be a prompt in the message, to accept or decline friend requests on your profile page which linked to the allies management page.  Now, most of us veterans do know how to find this on our own profiles, but I have to admit I was hard pressed to remember this detail myself....  Now, I have no idea why this was removed in the first place, but it's off putting and confusing even to those of us that know what to do, a newer player is going to have no idea, and those with "ignored" friend requests can likely feel snubbed or slighted when that was not the intention....

#1003883 Feedback and Suggestions

I've tended to just read and not respond to this, as I have no clue how my thoughts will be taken but nevertheless, here goes:

When I was just a nublet in the world of Erildath, I was fascinated by each and every quest I would come to.  The stories behind them, the central themes of the quest arcs, captivated my soul.  For years and years there was not 1 day that I didn't log in to play, to socialize with my guildmates and the many friends and acquaintances in the old IRC channel, even to go to "war" or participate in some fun but friendly highway robbery, but what really called me back, day after day, was the anticipation of the next quest to come.

After a time, Real Life reared its ugly head as it always does, and I had to be a way for close to 3 years.  When I returned, I was encouraged to do the Epic Quests, which I completed in a couple of days, and as my XP gains had taken me from about 375 to almost 500, I had a plethora of back quests, which I eventually came to an end of,  including Xindy (which I loved, btw, idk why so many hated it so) and only the Great Cow God himself knows how many replacement quest items were sent to me to reach this end.

For some time, I have been frustrated by a few things regarding quests:

1. Present Darkness needs an end point, if nothing else, send us to Brother Richard or the Fairy to be told we've done a great job and collect our rewards to clean this 1 unfinished quest out of all of our quest books

2. Although BG did eventually relent to our constant whining and open the gates to Quango Island, there's still further for me to go there, and we have many many new players, especially with the limited release of the app, that may enjoy another release of this fun event.

3. I still have yet to do the Story Book Quests.  I know the author of these has a very crafty and intelligent imagination.  I would like to experience these for myself, as well and have new players and those of us veterans that were long away and have returned.

I understand that all of these things are no small undertaking.  I know that BG has stated that it would be ideal if content to the Quango and Story Book arcs had new content for my bigger brothers and sisters at EOC, but even many of them have not completed what is existing in both of these arcs, whether from not being near EOC when last released or from being away for an extending period of time such as I and many of my peers.

Although I appreciate the frequency of things like Global and Legendary events, and the many new things, both known and only speculated to come, the lack of true questing leave me feeling like I'm missing something special, the very heart of FS that drew me in all those years ago.  As has been stated by many of my respected friends here, GE and LE events have become stale, and "just something to do with our stam" especially for those at or near EOC with humongous stam banks.  It's like being given a chips, salsa, and a glass of water by your waiter, along with the menu, then promptly forgotten by them, so that you never get to order what had promised to be a meal for the Gods.    Opening up these 2 quest events would have a big impact on FS, in my considered opinion, and would do much for the morale of the community as a whole, up to and including those skeptics that believe that not only will the app never be finished, but that is couldn't possibly be as wonderful as I know it is. If nothing else, those with negative feelings, whether about the app or the apparent lack of improvements, updates and even expansions will see that you really do hear the hearts of your people, for as much as this is a business for you, it is also your Domain, and we are your people.

Thanks for listening, hope my thoughts and feelings are met favorably

~Love always,
Penny

#1003807 Fallen Sword's Most Influential - Past and Present

Posted by BadPenny on 06 May 2021 - 20:58

My list is short but sweet

Gone but not forgotten:

Phool ~ originator of the annual Most Influential Thread and in his time one of the most respected players in the game

Crace ~ Former Author of the UFSG back when it was called the "Unofficial Fallen Sword Guide"

FS Heroes of Today

mzzery ~ Always helpful and positive and cheerful for 13 years

cajunb4 ~ the Santa Claus of FS.  Never have I met such a generous fellow.

PointyHair ~ So many would be lost without the work he puts into the FSH

You-Rock-Bunny-Glitter.gif

I will probably add to this list later

At the top are some icons, slide them over till you see the cog wheel:

at the bottom, you will see 2 buttons, one which binds your account so you can also access the game in your browser, and the rename feature:

I strongly suggest that before logging into the game via your browser that you go directly into your HCS account via the forum using the same log-in information used to sign up on the app, and link your account to all other available log-in methods.  This should minimize the chances of having a second account made the first time you use the browser version of the game.

#1003761 Fallen Sword App Update (v0.8.7)

Posted by BadPenny on 03 May 2021 - 05:41

Changed about 3 avis in the past few months, but the one on the app doesn't update at all. Not sure if it's just for me or not.

I think it's a cache issue.  My DQ doesn't always reset from the prior day either.

#1003317 If you cannot game with a broken play

Posted by BadPenny on 28 March 2021 - 03:29

yes I was under the influence of spirits and it all made sense when I started it.

Now it doesnt

I meant to state that a gamer will find a way to play the game even when it is not working 100% and was asking on other gamers (levelers and pvpers) take on that thought  :)

Anyway if this tread gets delete no big deal as I tried to remove it myself.

I see, in that case:

There's always several ways to skin a cat.... It's never easy, and Plan B usually sucks rocks, so probably it's best to start with that, then there's no other way to go than up...

I make it no secret that I rarely 1 hit.. Mostly that's because in my "youth" I didn't know any better, nobody told me to put everything into damage.  We used the so called "useless buffs" like Rage and Fury that rely on base stats that are now neglected...   Hunting setups didn't rely on every single piece being part of a set, even common items from shops could have a purpose.

Now, even some long time popular SE and LE sets are deemed useless,  we have those Coordinated buffs that make non-set items only useful to breakdown for potions, and there are shops everywhere with items that can't even be used for that....   Yet the cows still make those same shop items, with no use whatsoever, every time they add content...

Why?  Why is 1 hitting so important?  So all of you at EoC can spend the better part of half an hour to rush to the end of new content, only to be back to having no content to use for months at a time?  So that the rest of us can race to EoC and join you with nothing to do for months?

Now all the emphasis is on such and such buff is OP.... Maybe so, but the community screamed for an easy button for so long, and now  we all depend on those that went before us to devise hunting setups... We all wear the same thing as we traverse through the leveling and PvP ranges.... There is no longer creativity with gear...  Even I use the "recommended" setup as a basis for my hunting set, but with my stats being full all over the place, I have to modify each one... it's a poor excuse for creativity, I still fail in that as I start with the cookie cutter everybody else does. Still, I accept that I'm not always going to 1 hit, and I truly believe that Hoof never meant for us to do so in the first place.  The game is not anymore broken that we are

I always enjoyed the questing, PvP was fun for me cuz I had to get creative to devise setups to overcome defenses.  I used to live for challenges... It's time I got back to doing just that.

Thanks for opening my mind and my eyes WK...  Wonder who else has awakened?

#1003275 Fallen Sword App Update (v0.8.7)

Posted by BadPenny on 26 March 2021 - 04:51

Hi Penny,

I'm sorry that you are still experiencing this issue, we are working hard behind the scenes to get it resolved. Hopefully wont be too much longer. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi RebornJedi,

Yes, the directional movement buttons was removed with the new HUD. We do have a new design in the works for how map transition will work but it was unfortunately not completed before this update. Will hopefully have the new system in place some time soon and we hope it will resolve the issues you are having with movement.

Hi Again Penny,

The teleport button now appears above the buff bar (Top Left) on the HUD when the teleport buff is active. Please let us know if you are not a fan of this change, we can always see if we can find a new home for it if need be.

Thanks again to everyone who has provided feedback so far, please keep us updated as and when you encounter any issues, and as always, happy hunting :)

~The fallen Sword Team

I understand that this is your baby, but removing the directional buttons makes moving one space at a time near untenable.  You need to be able to move 1 square at a time to do a number things, from sweeping for SE's to farming for resources.  In our browser on a PC, we are able to do this by using our keyboards to swiftly move from space to space.  Even this option is taken away in a mobile browser, which is one of the reasons I was so excited to have the app.

On the app as it is now, traveling can only be done by double tapping on a square, and as Jedi mentioned, if there is a stairway or a quest location or a portal there, and you need to travel just 1 square, whatever is north of it is unavailable for double tapping.  This kind of defeats the purpose of using the app to efficiently hunt or farm or whatever other reason you need to travel.  I would respectfully request that you reconsider eliminating the directional buttons for this very reason.  I much prefer being able to use them myself than to a "joystick" which is actually difficult for my old fingers to use... I avoid other games that require a "joystick" for movement.
