#893433 First impressions and feedback from a new player.

Hi,

I learned about Eldevin only a couple of days ago and I found it to be a nice and fun game to play. In general I like the game style, story, quests, attribute-talent system, professions, interface, music etc. Of course the graphics could be improved but that is not what makes a game fun. The game feels peaceful in a sense. I tried a couple of other similar type mmorpgs before this and I didn't feel the same for them. Collecting and crafting is fun. Maybe it doesn't feel epic but it certainly is not boring to collect and craft things. I think Eldevin can attract more players if more marketing was done because I just heard about it and can easily say it is more fun than the others I tried.

I started playing in isometric view (point & click) then changed to 3rd person view (over the shoulder) and it feels more immersive this way, only jumping and auto-running is missing :)

I am still learning the game and the environment but since you are collecting feedback and suggestions and releasing updates, I thought it would be good to share my notes with you as a new player. And I am doing this only because I liked the game, will continue to play and will be happy to see it improved and played by more people.

- Hard-to-read text: I am playing on 1280x800 (regular resolution on my screen) and some text are hard to read as I pointed in the below screenshot. The floating damage text when I hit creatures or the floating Exp text are also hard to read. I think it would be better to make most text in the game more readable by changing font size or adding some simple effect, I don't know. It can be said that that's because of my screen etc., but in other games I play, I don't have difficulty reading text like this.

- Small buttons: I like the interface very much in general; the colors, the buttons, how it does not occupy much space etc. but I believe it would be better if some buttons such as skill buttons in the action bar or talent window were made slightly bigger. Not too much, just a couple of pixels maybe. Because it is hard to see them and click on them. Also, I think the bottom bar where it shows the location is kind of a waste of space. The XP bar and or action bar could be placed there with slightly bigger skill buttons I believe.

- No value info on items: Up to now, I didn't see value info (silver, copper) on items I collect. The vendors show the value while selling but it would be nice to see the value of items I collect so I know which ones to keep or dispose of if I want to clean up inventory space. I don't know if there is a reason for not showing item value on items but for me it is nice to see the values as I collect items.

- In-game windows do not stick after moving around: Windows like character screen, inventory, talents etc., any window in game are movable, that's great. But after moving them as I prefer and then quitting/re-logging or sometimes alt+tabbing the game, they reset to their default position. It is annoying to have to rearrage the windows every time I start the game.

- Beep sound is kinda annoying: When you talk to NPCs and click on dialogue options, you hear a beep sound. Sometimes a double beep. I think it doesn't fit well in the game atmosphere and music. Besides, the game makes another sound when you click on dialogue options, so I think the removal of the beep sound will be nice.

- Jumping and Auto Run: As I said above, I am playing the game in 3rd person view, so jumping and auto run will be nice. Those who play the game in point&click style will not need it but I definitely do. Jumping may be harder to implement but I believe Auto Run can be done relatively easily.

- Track more quests: As far as I saw, you can track only one quest (set active) at the moment. Most other mmorpgs allow you to track multiple quests (5-10) at once, so you can see their progression without having to open the quest journal every time.

- The world boss spawn notice passes too quickly: One alternative would be to pop it up for 1 second and then move the text to the top of the screen by decreasing the font size and totally disappear after 5 seconds or something. I couldn't even read where the boss spawned the last time.

- Game is dark, colors are pale: This is actually a personal view and others may think differently. I don't expect anything to change about the art style of the game but just sharing my opinion. I think the game is dark and colors used in the game are pale. And that makes the game look like an older game. Even without touching the models, I think improving texture coloring and the way lights work would make the game more lively.

- Short day-night cycle: I didn't measure it but I felt that the day-night cycle is short which adds to the darkness of the game. Maybe making the game time synced with the server time would be better. So, when it is daylight in real life, it will be daylight in game etc.

I guess that's it for now. I will update this thread as I continue playing and take more notes.

Thanks for reading and I hope you take it as constructive feedback and I hope you consider them :)
