#944602 Darksun Reborn III

Posted by Maj on 12 August 2015 - 14:45

Figured it makes sense. My backpack is full of Global chests.

Is it possible to create an NPC that would trade a Silver, Gold, Crystal, or Ruby Darksun Stash for a number of our Bronze Dark Sun II stashes? This could ease the inventory slots occupied by these chests (in my case, I have 9). This could also be expanded to include trading in other individual global chests such as Emblazoned Chests, etc, for their stacked counterparts.

Off-topic: I'd like to see the implementation of non-gear item stacks such as potions, resources, etc.

#935600 Item-to-Item Trading

Support...Although i don't do item to item trades where i'm going to get scammed. I only do it if i'm 100% certain its okay. Definitely something that should get added though. Support...

Which is the reason why I'm hoping that a foolproof feature gets implemented and 'supported' by the system. The only way you can reliably do item-trading is with someone you know and trust. And you won't have to use the Secure Trade page for that - just send the items to each other.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned somewhere:

I would like to see support for item-to-item trading in the secure trade page. Just now I wanted to trade an item I have for someone else's item by sending each other a ST with a fixed amount of FSP. But I ended up abandoning the idea because there's a chance that only one party honors their end of the deal. Difficult to pull off if you don't know the guy you're trading with.

There have been numerous suggestions in the past. I even remember suggesting that, instead of rewarding chests, give out tokens instead which can then be used as currency to buy actual items in a store.

But to make things simpler:

Retain the community rewards for 1,000 - 5,000 kills (# of chests the player is qualified for, dependent on community kills)

Reach 1,000 to 5,000 kills: reward dependent on # community kills (same as current)
Reach 10,000 kills: 1 gold chest
Reach 20,000 kills: 1 crystal chest
Reach 30,000 kills: 1 ruby chest
Reach 60,000 kills: 2 ruby chests
Reach 90,000 kills: 3 ruby chests

* above subject to changes/tweaks. next-tier rewards replace the previous one.

It's simple, no heavy programming required. People are rewarded based on effort. Spending an additional 5k kills nets you an additional gold chest. Another 10k will get you a crystal chest instead. People with bigger stam banks will be enticed to get to the next tier. Low-stam players benefit because chances of the community reaching ruby tier is higher.

It can't be helped - people are inherently selfish. So we need a system where being selfish actually helps the community as a whole. And the only way to achieve this is thru a tiered reward system based on number of contributed kills.

This is why there has to be tiered compensation based on the number of contributed kills. It is unfair to those who spent 10k to 30k+ kills, only to barely miss top 100 and receive nothing in return for the extra effort.

#915406 Slow Movement On World Map

Posted by Maj on 15 January 2015 - 09:32

2-3 squares per second is around 500 ms to 333 ms latency. This was what I was getting before the server upgrade and I was content with it and consider it fluid. It's not that fast but it's enough to compete with other titan hunters. With the current movement speed, it's no longer worth my time and effort to do titan hunting.

What's annoying is the wait in-between movements. You see your player icon move one square, pause for one second, then it moves to the next square, pause one second, etc.

Is this another anti-cheat initiative snuck in, to make everyone move at the same speed ? - if so, I'm happy with it.

I doubt this has something to do with any anti-cheat initiative, but if they're going to include one, they should've made an official announcement. But the last time I did a seasonal titan, other people were moving faster than me while I moved at a snail's pace at 1 square per second. So if it's indeed some sort of anti-cheat, then it wasn't applied to everyone. Movement this slow will also have an adverse effect on regular hunting for people with huge stam banks + using high level conserve.

Sites like Alexa aren't reliable for traffic analysis. For one, most customers in the Philippines use dynamic IP addresses that can skew the results. Also, I know only a handful of Filipinos playing FS, and some of them have already 'quit', like this one:

This box is sealed air-tight to prevent its contents from spilling over. So yep, other than the fact that you drink it straight from the box ;), this is a very nice holiday present. :)

#911592 Suggestion: FSP Market

Posted by Maj on 23 December 2014 - 02:54

Another problem with this idea is it circumvents the limit on the amount of gold you can safely set aside when using bank deposits (which is 25% of gold-in-hand) because you can escrow an unlimited amount of gold with this. A 100,000g-per-fsp listing would just sit in the marketplace forever until it is cancelled. So, this eliminates the need to upgrade extra deposits and makes banks and deposits obsolete.

This can be exploited by creating a request worth 100,000g per fsp. This would act like a second bank account.

#905618 Making Titan Hunting more Popular

One solution I can think of is to make all player icons (with name and guild) visible in a titan-active map. This is so other players can record (using Fraps or other video recording app) a player whom they think is using an exploit and zipping/teleporting all over the map.

Make titan hunting a level-playing field for everybody in terms of movement speed and attack speed.

While you are right Titan hunting is a group activity until movement is equal for all it will be something a lot of players have to leave when its contested because they cannot compete.

This is a world game that gives a few an advantage because of where they live. That is counter productive for the game.

What I meant here is to make titan hunting a level-playing field on the server side. Let's be realistic: not all players can have the same quality of connection speed and ping from their PC to the FS server, so some people will titan-hunt slower than others. This is a client-side problem that is out of HCS control. What HCS can control however is the speed of interval on attack and movement commands that the server receives from a player. Therefore, the server should set a minimum ping speed interval (say 300ms) on attack and movement commands from a player on maps where a titan is active. This minimum ping interval restriction shouldn't be circumvented by client scripts. Ideally, they shouldn't be if the server-side checks were implemented properly and no other holes exist (e.g. only one call entry point for a 'Move' command that has this check in place).

As we all know, these server-side restrictions and checks seem to have already been implemented in the game. The problem is they are not working 100% as intended and also introduce some annoying bugs along the way. It also seems that certain people can bypass these restrictions and zip from one end of the map to another (I know because I was in one titan-hunting session and witnessed it beforehand, twice, so I can attest that this exploit exists).

#905327 Update v2.60

Posted by Maj on 27 November 2014 - 17:13

Please add a "Create All" button. This should only appear when you can cook 2 or more potions simultaneously.

This is because the current layout has multiple "Template" dropdown boxes + "Create Potion" buttons. When you select the templates on each line then click one "Create Potion" button, the page refreshes and you have to do the selection of templates all over again for each simultaneous potion you can create.

Better add a single "Create All" button alongside the "Collect All" / "Discard All" / "Instant Finish All" buttons.

Want to make titan hunting more popular?

- Fix the numerous bugs associated with it. These have been thoroughly discussed in numerous threads already.

- Make titan hunting a level-playing field for everybody in terms of movement speed and attack speed.
