Horrible idea. You would have different and conflicting advice from every guide. Too many ego driven players in this game to allow an open forum on nubcake guidance. Absolutely hate this idea.

Better idea?

This is a great opportunity to make the FS Helper script illegal. Far too many players are hijacking the script to their own nefarious uses and there is NO WAY it is detected. From Titan Hunting to Arena to the Marketplace the damage has already been done!

On the contrary, Mowglicks maps have been around since I started playing 7 1/2 yrs ago and I think should be included in this player guide list.

I wouldn't mind seeing an in depth PvP guide. Seems like an interesting area to get into but it also seems so difficult to do.

Hoof, I really like the idea. Like 110%.

However, I'm concerned about functionality. Let me reiterate: this is a great idea.

But where are things placed in game? Will they actually be updated?

What topics and to what extent are we talking about?

I think there are definitely things to be brainstormed about and it's my guess that this type of "solution" is exactly what you're asking for.

For me, this would be great for community game input but it needs to be handled by the game creators.

Every aspect of the game has evolved. In some cases, this tends to make guides obsolete. In others, alternative options simply aren't updated.

My suggestion -- add a game guides section to the UFSG, then link to the topic/s there from in game.

I think that could possibly work and is not a bad idea.

But I still think HCS needs to weed through and select, precisely to avoid things becoming obsolete and to guarantee game integrity.

The FS wiki, for the most part, went "worthless" quite some time ago. I've seen a player here ask about it. Has it been updated recently? I don't know.

On some occasions, it's still a good source though:

Composing for example: http://wiki.fallensw....php/Composing

Why this has not been implemented into the game, I do not know. I hope that's what this is about.

Another player has already mentioned Mowglick's maps: http://mowglik.livinloud.ca/

Again, why has this not been implemented into at least the USFG?

FSHelper. I have used it since day one. I miss all the original creators and contributors. I hope PointyHair who has currently taken on the nightmare has been hired to implement the game aspects.

I have always been 100% against FSHelper. And yes, I use it. And yes, when I say "always", I mean ever since it came out.

Scripts need to be banned. Period. Every single player that comes into this game since day one needs to have access to the maximum experience.

CONCLUSION:

For game integrity, I believe that FS game aspects need to be HCS monitored, approved, implemented and then updated and controlled. Period.

Player input is obviously key, but HCS needs to own its game and step up to the plate.

I think you could ask for basic input and then convert it into a separate Tutorial that is perhaps game-aspect specific. People exploring game aspects might then be able to get a taste. I'm not sure how effective this will be as the game evolves, but perhaps it "could" cut down on the number of updates needed.

Perhaps, the Game Help Forum could be more actively monitored and used toward the idea presented in this thread. For those that don't know: https://forums.hunte.../110-game-help/

If this link is used in the game itself... might not be a bad resource idea. But then... there are four pinned threads there:

I haven't investigated: Is the PVP Tutorial relevant?

The list of helpful starter threads was created in 2012 and last updated in 2013...

The Welcoming Team... really? I, personally, liked hbk... but it's an Inactive player. I didn't look at the rest, but maybe this should NOT be pinned any longer.

World Map Errors: Not too sure if this thread is relevant or helpful to new players.

In other words, HCS needs to hire somebody to actively deal with these issues and make the game more accessible to new players that would hopefully result in increased income.

Hoof, free monitors "hired" from the game community never worked... I miss crace. And forget about the Guild Chat disaster. Or your current workers that should be concentrating on more important activities rather than being over-taxed with inefficient multi-tasking. You own the restaurant, so I don't think it's bad that you greet customers and get their opinion on the food... but you have at least one admin that is charged with far too many tasks.

To take some of the bite out of that constructive criticism... I will say that I really like the huge sudden movement of effort that is reinfusing FS with a bit of life. All of you are working hard and taking heed and I, for one, appreciate it. I want that to be a 100% positive comment but I'll temper that: It's about time. And, perhaps, too late. But hey, I'm still here so I must be an optimist.

POSSIBLY USEFUL THREADS TO CONSIDER (I didn't do due-dilligence, it's just what I personally have used in the last year or so or things that "might" have some relevance. PS... I hope people quote just this part and add to it):

COMPOSING:

http://wiki.fallensw...x.php/Composing

WORLD MAP LAYOUT:

http://games.jmle.net/fs.htm

This is really Mowglick's listed above... not sure what the difference is. Uses mirror sites and I use it all the time. I hope it makes it way into the UFSG.

ITEM LIST FOR LEVELLING

http://wiki.fallensw...ting_setup_list

Any one hit list for levelling is theoretically "relevant" and automatically destined to become "obsolete".

I have tons more...

CONTENT ROADMAP:

https://forums.hunte...ontent-roadmap/

Great thread and I think that HCS has actually done a pretty good job updating. I do however think it is time to lock this one with a thread to the new one with a cleaner preview (and link back to the old one for reference).

The above kind of fits with the issue on the DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP (which I think rocked in the way it was updated and closed to restart conversation). I won't provide a link since it's been locked by Hoof:

This thread is currently out-dated. Our main focus right now is on the mobile / tablet interface for the game, but we're going to look at also posting up an updated list of improvements that we are looking to get implemented soon.

I'd hope that the entire topic be revisited with new community input AFTER outlawing FSHelper.

LIST OF SITES GIVING PROMO CODES:

https://forums.hunte...codes/?hl=promo

Sorry to disappoint, but there are no more available (yeah, I've investigated... not sure if people have unused codes). Perhaps HCS will start a new post-summer promotion.

STARTER THREADS?

BG started in 2012 this thread to help players starting out (no idea if they're still relevant or useful). The original thread was this:

Here's the content:

Hi there Everyone.

We have decided to trim down the number of Stickies in Newbie Help to just one. This one! In this thread, we shall add links to threads that are deemed useful to new players. I have added those that used to be stickied, bar a few which were out of date.

Crace's 'XP Requirements for each Level'.

Crace's 'Quick and easy way to get more xp from creatures'.

Sigiloso's 'Spanish Tutorial ~ Guía para principiantes de Fallen Sword'.

darkarchon's 'New to the game... want to level fast? biggrin.png'.

millerguy's 'Learning To Titan Hunt'.

Shardoom's 'Doom's guide to the chests.'.

maegglin's 'How to plan your equipment - a guide'.

Yotekiller's 'Starting a Guild'.

Mowglik's 'How do I get to... V2=>colors & links {February 11, 2012}'.

If there are any further threads that would be useful, feel free to PM BigGrim on the forum and he can add them to this thread!

WHERE/HOW TO HUNT DURING GLOBAL EVENTS:

https://forums.hunte...obal-events-ge/

I saved that for last. Why? Because it's really my answer to what I think this thread is about.

Though I started that thread, the end product was a huge contribution from the entire HCS community giving their knowhow and personal information. In fact, I now actually switched where I hunt during GEs thanks to the feedback.

I did get some crap for it and I also got some info that players requested that I do NOT publish. I respect that. Info has value. But the FS community came through to help and admins gave their advice and even pinned it.

Downside? I always knew that it will become "obsolete". I "assume" that there are higher levels for it... and that more will eventually be created... or not.

It was "designed" to give a starter for all players on GEs: ie, where do I hunt, what buffs do I use? But it will NOT be "eternal".

The reward for me was the huge effort that all of FS made on making it the best that I could make it. Even so, I had to pick and choose. There is/was actually tons of info in the replies that simply didn't fit in with what was my "purpose".

My question for HCS: Do you post a link to it when you announce a GE?

Its not difficult to become PvPer :) before reading guides, etc, remove the levels from your calculations cuz if you will carr about levels you won't accomplish anything xD

Wow, I'm not sure if I'm disappointed, surprised or what with respect to this thread and the lack of posts between mine and me coming back.

I will openly apologize to the eyes of anybody who had or attempted to deal with post #24.

Regardless, I've been really busy in RL and FS but what I came back to say was:

Many thanks to the FS Community, HCS and BG in particular for what I consider to be an "example of implementation".

I'm referring to https://forums.hunte...vi/#entry947772

Of course, I get if it seems to be self-serving since I started the post. But... I want to reiterate that the effort was thanks to a huge response from the FS community, including BG himself, and some players who preferred to remain silent offered some input.

I really hope that some good advice on ALL game aspects will come out of this.

Prosperous smacking everybody!

I think, as there is already a wealth of great guides and info out there, a good first step would be for us to make page in-game that the links can be collated into the relevant categories. Then we add a simple system whereby the guides and information can be upvoted so the best guides get pushed towards the top of each category.

Liking the implementation I've seen so far. Still worried about things being updated.

As a suggestion to "all", I'm hoping that those that update copy/paste like a mad-person and give credit where it's due. At the front of my mind on this is the hunting guides... For me, it's the eternal issue, lol.
