I haven't tried that but It happens in alchemy in EC 
Go take 1 step away from alc table near alc trainer then press x and go to alchemy option and select pots you'll concuct and you will concuct 1 step away from table XD

If you really want to get an up close and personal look at crafting, wave at a player or NPC behind you.
But be very careful, someone could get hurt.
