#924321 Current state of the game

Posted by iceman66 on 21 March 2015 - 01:33

The dates on the development map were a bad choice.. And hopefully just get removed in the future.. Its hard to not be scared for fallen sword when other games have been dropped yet let run and ignored.. But I highly doubt that for fallen sword.. This upcoming app is everything.. And I hope they reinvent the regular game as well in the process.. You think new content has been neglected? Think about all the daily used functions that could use an easy tweak to make more efficient.. You beg for a new 25 levels that has 1-3 quests with a coupld handfuls of items and new creatures.. I sit here waiting for our logs to be properly organized with the ridiculous amount of new features that have been added since logs have been updated.. Or FSHelper functions added to the game that other players are using to get a huuuge advantage over players who don't or can't use that script...

The stability of the game is the number one goal of the game and its what seems to be the main focus.. Based off forum threads and posts.. But the communication has to be made more clear and for the general public... The payment for downtime needs to be severely increased to help ease the players a bit.. Communication and rewards for loyalty can be the only things that a game developer can give its player base during game problems.. And an exact amount of reserve stamina based on hours of downtime isn't helping much.. It doesn't come often enough and when it does it just seems like a down to the tea cover up that could of just as easily been doubled and felt more like an apology

Be transparent even if the cloud service or other services you use to run this game are running poorly.. Let the gamers know.. It isn't a bad thing for the gamers to know which company is ruining our experience.. Company's need to know that their service is poor so they know to fix it and at what speed..

If its on a cow or code, still let us know.. We are all human and naturally the evolution of fallen sword is going to be a bumpy road.. But we are here with you..

I cannot agree more.  Lack of content is annoying, but not pressing.  The more pressing issues are connectivity and server issues.  I can remember on like 3 different occasions where HCS promised they would communicate more on whats going on.  They have not even held true to that and all of the players are completely in the dark.  We should not have to ask for these courtesies from an established business! Communcation with your customers/player base is pivotal and HCS can't do that.

8 years, I've been playing this game for 8 years and I have never been this concerned with the state of FS.  What that tells me is that things HAVE to change.  I love FS, I adore FS...but the recent lack of attention is so frustrating that I actually want to stop playing all together.  That is something I never thought I'd say, but I'm closer now than I've ever been in the past.  And it's not just a spur of the moment decision...it's a decision based off neglect and lack of care from the Devs on a product they created.  Connectivity issues, lack of content, lack of incorporating the more useful FSH features, lack of communication, and lastly lack of concern for paying customers and loyalty.

Half the problem is folk accepting the game is going/gone to the dogs, jeez.

Cheers.

I'm tired of accepting it.  I've put in enough time and money into this game where I expect more.  I know I'm not alone when I say that.  The fact that it says "Office closed, we open again in 3 days" speaks for itself.  What kind of business neglects a game they created for 3 days? The connectivity issues are atrocious and almost make the game unplayable, and there are no Devs in sight.

More than one cow works on this game.. It has rarely felt like only one has over the past years otherwise.. More than one cow created the content that was released under 2 months ago.. Two or three or more cows must have worked on that.. From creation of quests, items and artwork and beyond to the ones that implement it and do the maintenance on it.. There is no way one cow is working on this game..

Even if they aren't operating at the pace i think they should I can't ignore the work that goes into the game at whatever pace they implement it..

Look, I'm not saying that work has not gone into this game.  There is a reason I still play it, but saying that, can't you admit that there has been crazy neglect going on lately?  I mean I'll go out on the limb and say that in the last year, a lot has been promised and not been achieved.  I understand that goals need to be set high, but even realistic goals have not been met.  By business standards, HCS has dropped the ball.  I would be okay even if the Cows set their goals lower so that my expectations don't get crushed when high goals aren't met.  It's demoralizing.

I don't post much anymore because I don't really see the point, but here we go.  Over the last couple of days I've been getting an increased number of "504 Gateway Time-out" errors.  You can imagine my frustration when we are told that there will be "Server Maintenance".  Now when I hear that, I automatically think that something is going to get fixed, when in reality I've noticed an overall decrease in speed and an increase in lag.  There are no more than 500 players on FS at one time, so to me it makes no sense that the servers are stressed because of increased traffic.  If I'm not mistaken HCS, didn't you replace the servers or change server companies not too long ago?  And wasn't the reason to prevent lag and increase consistency?  It's getting tiresome and demoralizing which is unfortunate.

The next issue is content.  Now before I have everyone jump on me about mentioning this, just remember what HCS said.  We were told that content was going to be released every two weeks.  It's been two months since the last set of content, and I'm sorry HCS but that is not good enough.  It's not good enough because you can't tell us one thing and do another.  There is a massive difference between 14 days and 60 days.  We appriciate the Legendary events and global events, but I don't see a reason why we have to have one or the other when we should realistically have both.

I have so much more to say about lack of buffs, Arena, Titan hunting etc.  I'm not going to get into it because we have to focus one thing at a time.  I also know for a fact that I'm not the only one experiencing 504 gateway errors, so it would be in your best interest to let the FS community know what is going on.  I've spoken to about 10 others from different areas around the world and they are all experiencing the same thing so please don't give me the "ISP is at fault" line, I've heard it too many times.

With 60 active members (70 total), we were able to take 4th place in the guild ranks (soon to take 3rd).  We also have 13 players above 1900 :) That is pretty awesome.

I've seen it brought up several times already, but what ever happened to teleport? There was overwhelming acceptance to that buff and it just never happened.  That is a bit upsetting, but I still think it can be implemented and used widely.

1) This thread: http://forums.hunted...showtopic=58838

2) More spots per backpage page

3) Faster content (last one took  2-3months?)

4) Some new arena gear.

5) Benefits for having medals / higher tier medals

I agree with all of these changes, but I especially like number 5.  As it stands now, medals are solely aesthetic which is silly.  If we got bonuses from them, the incentive would be higher to achieve them.  Also, I think we should add guild medals and another personal medal.  There should be a medal for selling stuff in the AH and it should be retroactive which means everything you have sold will show up.  Maybe as an added bonus, you can get like a bp slot for each medal tier :)

I am open to the costings being change, as I understand where you are coming from.

What I was looking for was a more usable formula as the levels increase. a set 5% means there's a useful bonus based on how much you forge.

Perhaps if we looked at a set % gain per forge, we could have a set cost as well?

For sure mate, I like the sounds of that.  At least with a set %, it wouldn't feel like money wasted and it would retain it's usefulness.  I think anything more than a 10% set bonus/stat bonus would be too much.  It would have to be less than that.  I'm just jiving here.  I think we can come to some sort of change though :)  Although looking at it now, if we got a 2% set bonus/forge that would be sweet.  Means 10% would be the highest and easy to see.

Touching on Icemans comment about hell forging.

Could we have it so that each hell forge gives a min of 1% boost. so for example a FF item at level 1200, will give a 5% boost to the items non forged stats?

any gear hell forged where the bonus would be above 5% (I think it's below level 700 or 800) would retain their existing formula, but levels on the other side of the threshold, would get a small boost.

This is a good idea. But I still reckon 10,000,000 gold is a bit steep if the formula remained the same.  There has to be some sort of compromise.  The cows need to understand that if the price or formula was tweaked, the skill epic forge would be more useful because more people would forge their gear.

1. Content needs to be released more frequently.  Every 2 months is ridiculous.  People wonder why we all delevel and relevel? It's because we have no other way to gain GXP.  Plain and simple.  Fix the root of the problem and everyone is happy.

2. Arena is in desperate need of new arena levels.  I think the highest arena level is like 1200 (I think) and players are 1750-1800 now.  That isn't right.  Add more arena levels that suit EVERYONE in this game.

3. Hellforging.  I  stopped hellforging stuff post-level 600 because it literally costs like a billion gold/FSP for stats that are not needed.  If you want people to use gold and stuff to hellforge, either make it cheaper, change the formula, or increase the hellforge bonuses.

Here is a little example: To hellforge something that is level 1775, the total gold cost is 8,253,750 gold and 10 FSP.  Basically you are looking at over 10,000,000 gold.  Does that not seem absolutely insane to anyone else?  You get like 25 extra stats points

4. PvP Ladder- We need new sets to build.  Why would we want to partake in the PvP ladder with the current rewards? The market is flooded with PvP ladder sets that are out dated.

5. Elite sets and other sets.  Please at least have a look at what sets are prevalent in FS and make some drops that are worthwhile.  What I mean by this is just take a minute to look at what gear goes together.  For example: if you release a weapon/ammy set (I'm thinking pounamu), don't release a set the breaks it...release sets that gel with it.  I don't think I've gotten a worthwhile drop from a champ or an elite since kummars which is 1460.  That is >240 levels ago.

My guild just made it into the top 5 guilds in FS.  I think this is quite the accomplishment due to the fact that we are one of the smaller guilds :) Well done to all my guildmates.

#727534 New Skills / Enhancements

Heat Scan and Teleport like we were promised ages ago.

Deadly blow- You strike the ground with so much force, all minions on the square have a chance to die from the tremors of the thunderous blow. Only uses what your current doubler uses in stam, but only for 1 critter instead of all of them.

Dual wield- Give you the ability to use two weapons, but with a penalty based on the skill level. You could only get like 50% max damage on the off hand.

Vengeance- Grants the user the ability to do more than 100 stams (on the bounty board only). For every 25 levels, the user can do an extra 10 stam over 100 stam. (Maxes out at 170 stam)

Raise Dead- Gives the user a chance to revive a fallen critter and have a portion of it's HP added to your next damaging blow. The amount of HP added to your damage would be based off the amount of points in the skill.

Gamblers cut (PvP only)- User has a slim chance to use half the allotted stam on a hit or 4x the amount of stam per hit. Chance based off points allotted in the skill.

Blood Drunk- As you slay a critter, you start in a frenzy after consuming their essence and start swinging wildly as everything you see as you move on the map. You have chances to instantly kill, miss horribly, use 2x the stam, hit a random person in the same realm as you etc.

Head Explosion- Using your psychic powers given to you by Gurgiss, you are able to explode heads (kill instantly using no stam) at the cost of gold instead of stam.

Consume- You are able to disregard the level cap and attack anyone in the world of fallen sword that is at least 800-900 levels lower than you (LOL)

Refraction- A shield cast around the user that will refract incomming PvP attacks to someone random in Fallensword that isn't you.

Exacerbate- There is a chance that in every hit on critters, a random skill that you have activated on you will increase by a certain amount of time. Chance and time based on the skill points allotted.

Conniving- When this skill is activated on you and you successfully kill a critter, you are extremely shifty and have a very small chance to steal either buffs from a random person or gold from a random person

Furious Leap- You bound into the air, and as you come down, your target (PvP only) is stunned for 1 turn. Not sure how to incorporate point allocation into this one

Infectious Disease- There is a small chance that when you kill a champion or a normal critter, that you kill 5, 10, 15 or 20 of the same. The amount you kill is based off the number of points you have allocated. For every 5 creeps killed in this way, you use 5 stam respectively. I.E. You kill 5 critters with infectious disease, you will use the doubler cost of one critter, and 5 stam.

Edit 1:

Wisdom- For every 25 points allocated in this skill, your librarian, adept learner, extractor and inventor buffs are increased by 10 levels

Brute Strength- For every 25 points allocated in this skill, your enchant item abilities, fury and berserk buffs are increased by 10 levels.

Edit 2:

Wishing Well- For every 50,000 gold you throw away (wish) while this skill is activated, one of your buffs (randomly) will increase in duration and levels based on the amount of skill points allocated.

Edit 3:

Malformed Wishing well- When this skill is activated, you enter in a name and wish 50,000 gold to have a buff of that players decrease in level and duration.
